David Guetta Brings F.M.I.F. Party To Miami Music Week

Guetta and his wife, Cathy, present their ‘F— Me I’m Famous’ brand in the U.S. By Akshay Bhansali David Guetta Photo: MTV News MIAMI — French beatsmith David Guetta and his wife Cathy plan to launch their clubber power-party brand in the U.S. in a big way. Called “F— Me I’m Famous,” it’s named after the electronic dance music party that takes place every year as part of the summer EDM circuit in Ibiza, Spain. On Saturday (March 26) at Club Mansion in Miami, Cathy and David delivered a brand debut of sorts for attendees of Miami Music Week . The Guettas and record label EMI have signed a global partnership to promote F.M.I.F. events around the world, and they’re banking on seeing it blossom here in the States. With frequent collaborator and friend will.i.am and Dutch house-music producer Sidney Sampson by his side, David Guetta took to the decks just after 1 a.m. Saturday and charged into a vicious Afrojack tune, followed by his hit single “One Love” and “Gettin’ Over You,” the chorus of which fans in the house knew by heart. As Guetta dropped out the sound, the audience belted out Fergie’s vocals without missing a beat. After spinning hit singles “Sexy Chick” and Flo Rida’s “Club Can’t Handle Me,” Guetta dropped in his fiery mix of Far East Movement’s “Like a G6,” a joint the DJ/producer has no plans to release but which he’s shared with lil’ brother Afrojack for their touring gigs. The Black Eyed Peas “Boom Boom Pow” followed. Notably, will.i.am joined DG onstage to repeatedly lend the vocal “Everybody!” and a set of freestyle bars on what’s possibly a new song, a banger with a progressive break that peaks into a driving house tune after LMFAO vocals announce, “I’m David Guetta, bitch!” So club fans, rejoice: More F— Me I’m Famous parties are right around the corner. When we caught up with Guetta on Friday afternoon, he was pleased to announce the brand has found a home in Las Vegas. “I’m super-excited about this, the F— Me I’m Famous party,” Guetta said. “I’m taking over Vegas. This is gonna be crazy. We are starting a pool party at Wet Republic, and that’s gonna be every Sunday. “It’s the first time we are gonna do a residency like this, except in Ibiza. We’re gonna do also three really big concerts at the Joint [at the Vegas Hard Rock Hotel & Casino]. We have one for Memorial Day. That’s gonna be a big thing. We’re gonna come with the whole production from Europe. So this is probably an important moment for our brand, F— Me I’m Famous, starting to find a life and a home in America. The F— Me I’m Famous party at Wet Republic in Las Vegas will open April 10 and run Sundays through May 1, according to Wet Republic Las Vegas’ website . Robbie Rivera’s ‘Juicy Beach’ Captivates At Miami Music Week

Joachim Garraud, Alex Gaudino also held down thunderous sets during the epic, 17-hour event on Nikki Beach. By Adam Stewart Robbie Rivera Photo: MTV News MIAMI — South Beach’s sexiest beach bash took Miami’s SoFi district by storm on Thursday as Robbie Rivera presented his seventh annual Juicy Beach party on the infamous Nikki Beach. Midway through the marathon 17-hour Miami Music Week event, the bikini-clad crowd was treated to back-to-back-to-back sets by Joachim Garraud, Alex Gaudino and, of course, Rivera. Garruad debuted massive new tracks from his upcoming album, Invasion 2011, bringing his signature edgy stab synth (fans know it from his work on David Guetta tracks like “World Is Mine” and “Love Is Gone”). Garruad’s sound is captivating, and the enthusiastic crowd responded by waving hands and fists high in the air.

Axwell Explains Story Behind ‘Masquerade Motel: One Night Stand’

‘There’s going to be great chemistry that night,’ Swedish House Mafia member says of the massive Miami Music Week event. By Adam Stewart UMF 2011 Tent Photo: Christian Larson “Wassup, wassup, wanna party?” We know Axwell does, and it’s a pretty safe bet that the rest of the Swedish House Mafia gang are looking to do the same. This Saturday marks the grand opening to their highly anticipated “Masquerade Motel: One Night Stand” extravaganza held on the sultry shores of Miami’s South Beach. “It’s gonna be big,” Axwell tells MTV News. In fact, it’s going to be one of the biggest events Miami Music Week has to offer. Bolstering a sold-out crowd of more than 12,000, die-hard fans will partake in a fantasy world with some of dance music’s biggest names and most dazzling production values, the likes of which have never before seen on the South Beach sand. For those of you lucky enough to score a ticket, we have one word of advice: “Masks on.” “We’re going to be dancing in the sand, which is how I pictured Miami in the first place, anyway,” said Axwell. “That’s how I see the conference. That’s how I pictured it before I came there. I thought I was going to be dancing basically on the beach, and that’s what it is now.” A massive structure is currently being erected on the beach at 8th Avenue and Ocean Drive to house the bash, which is being dubbed as one of the hottest events of Miami Music Week. Being held opposite Deadmau5 and the second night of Ultra Music Festival, “Masquerade Motel” has, in just a short period of time, procured a massive buzz as one of the true “it” events during dance music’s biggest week and, needless to say, one hardest tickets to get. However, if it were not for the Winter Music Conference/ Ultra Music Festival split that ruffled feathers throughout the dance-music community just four months ago, a beachfront permutation of the legendary Pacha Ibiza Monday Night residency may have never even come to fruition. “We thought that [March in Miami] was going to be nice and easy as it always is, but then we heard was that WMC was moving, and then we were like, ‘OK, that’s sad, but we want to stick to our tour,’ ” explained Axwell. “So then [there] was the Ultra Festival situation, where they offered us a tent — and we were on the main stage last year — [and with] all of these exclusivity [deals], we could only play pretty much at Ultra and nowhere else,” he said. “Don’t get us wrong, we really had an amazing experience at the Ultra stage, and the crowd is fantastic and you get to connect with so many people. We wanted to do something different from what we’ve done before, and we didn’t want to step back or limit ourselves to just perform at Ultra. So we were like, ‘Let’s do this thing at the beach,’ ” quite similar, in fact, to the Halloween show that the Swedes performed in midtown Miami. Axwell did admit, though, that it’s not so easy producing your own ‘mini-festival’ on the legendary Ocean Drive beach, let alone putting it all together in just a few short months. “It actually costs more to put on your own event than to just go on the main stage at Ultra!” he admitted. “But, if we did things for money, we wouldn’t be where we are. We do things for our heart … And its sometimes very stupid, moneywise. Like, ‘Oh, let’s blow up this thing here! Let’s have 50,000 gallons of CO2 and fireworks because we like it!,’ and then we see if we have money left for a hamburger! I’m exaggerating a little bit there, but you know, that’s how it came about.” The always-charismatic Axwell, however, is without a doubt elated to be just days away from the event that will also feature artists musically closest to himself and the rest of the gang. “I’m as excited as anyone else. I want to go to the event as well. I want to host that sh–! I want to be there, see the people, see the crowd — I’m gonna run around [going], ‘Wassup, wassup, man! Give it up for Calvin Harris!’ because, I actually haven’t seen Calvin Harris DJ before, so I want to see him DJ, and I want to see Thomas Gold DJ, and I want to see everybody DJ, basically,” he gushed. “I really like the lineup that we have. We’re all kind of friends-ish [and it’s] an ‘in the family’ type of thing. We all have our separate thing going on, yet [there’s] going to be great chemistry that night.” Can’t wait to check in? Then check out “Masquerade Motel: One Night Stand” being built on the Swedish House Mafia Live Blog, and be sure to stick with the MTV News crew for all of the latest action on the ground from Miami Music Week!

Chuckie Will Debut Michael Jackson Remix In Miami

Official ‘Hollywood Tonight’ remix coming to Miami Music Week. By Akshay Bhansali Chuckie Photo: Jason Ano/ One and Only Productions Leaving the South by Southwest festival, Lavo New York and Las Vegas’ Marquee in his wake, house DJ Chuckie has his sights set on the week ahead. With Miami Music Week now upon us, Chuckie plans to seize the opportunity to debut new material. Fans will be tickled to know the Dutch producer has tracks in the can with Kelly Rowland and T-Pain, but when MTV News caught up with him Friday in New York, Chuckie shared the achievement of which he’s most proud. “I did a Michael Jackson remix, which was really scary — to touch Michael Jackson vocals,” Chuckie said. “I did this remix for this track ‘Hollywood Tonight.’ I couldn’t say it for a minute: The label called me, and they said, ‘You can’t say nothing about this. It’s kind of a secret project.’ It’s gonna come out anytime now.” “Hollywood Tonight” was originally produced by Teddy Riley for Jackson’s posthumous Michael album , and Chuckie’s mix of the song will be the sole official remix of the track. “I will play it Miami,” Chuckie revealed. “I told them this is the best week to launch the remix. So it feels really good. I’m the only one remixing that Michael Jackson track, and they are considering it a single. For me, especially, it’s an honor to remix the King of Pop because he died on my birthday.” So, will the mix be a thundering Chuckie Dutch house banger or will it have a melodic progressive house feel, like his Marquee remix of Diddy-Dirty Money’s “I Hate That You Love Me”? Well, according to the “Let the Bass Kick” producer, fans will be getting a healthy dose of both. “I had to bring in the raucous,” Chuckie confessed. “Yeah, I did the Chuckie flavor, but then again, I wanted to make it really musical, so I went progressive (house) on it.” Chuckie will be performing twice at Miami Music Week: at the Cr2 Records Party at Wall Lounge on Wednesday, and then headlining “No Sugar Added” at Nikki Beach on Friday. BronBron & The Shady Heat Dream Team Defeat The Atlanta Hawks Friday Night

Good for BronBron and ‘em: Nothing personal, Heat fans, but LeBron James loves playing away from Miami. Greeted by scattered boos from a sellout crowd following his trademark chalk clap at the scorer’s table before the game, James just smiled. It was a reminder he was playing on the road, where he says he has his best games. James scored 43 points, including 23 in a dominant third quarter, and the Heat beat the slumping Atlanta Hawks 106-85 on Friday night. When asked what led to his big game, James said: “Just the road.” “That’s the similarity,” he said. “All on the road. I enjoy being on the road, I enjoy playing against not only the opposing players but the opposing fans. It’s fun.” James’ season high was 51 points at Orlando on Feb. 3. He began the night averaging 27.2 points on the road and 25.0 in Miami. Marvin Williams scored 15 points and Damien Wilkins had 14 for the Hawks, who have lost seven of 10. Atlanta’s top scorer among its starting five was Horford, with only 11 points. “We’re struggling right now,” Horford said. “We’re really trying to find ourselves. … We’ve had some good times, but we’re going through a real rough patch right now.” James said he “absolutely” could see his big third quarter break the Hawks’ will. “You make backbreaking 3s and pull-up jumpers and things like that, you continue to get stops, you can see that you start to wear them down,” James said. James had half of Miami’s points in leading the Heat to an 86-57 lead through three periods. James then put on his warmup suit and watched the final period from the bench. James was 8 for 8 from the field in the first half, when he had 20 points. He was just getting started. He made eight of 13 shots from the field in his 23-point third quarter. Incredibly, it wasn’t his most productive 12 minutes of the season. James had 24 points in the third quarter at Cleveland on Dec. 2. The Hawks went about 5½ minutes without a field goal in the third period as Miami turned the game into a rout with a procession of 3-pointers and three-point plays. James and Wade each had two 3-pointers in a 12-0 Miami run. James then added a dynamic three-point play, scoring on a scoop over Jamal Crawford, who was called for the foul. James then took a long walk past the Atlanta bench, staring at the crowd of 20,024, before adding the free throw for a 73-42 lead. The Hawks’ frustrations grew with their deficit. James hit two free throws with 1:51 remaining in the third quarter to give him 40 of Miami’s 80 points. He complained after he was fouled by Zaza Pachulia late in the period. The officials then huddled and called a flagrant foul on Pachulia. James made both free throws as Hawks coach Larry Drew complained to the officials that they were giving James superstar treatment. SMH. Well at least these fools have a reason to smile now. We were sick of all that crying bullsh*t!! Source
