Rick Ross Footage Shows MC’s Ecstatic Reaction To LeBron James’ Move

‘I’m at all the games, baby,’ Miami native crows. By Shaheem Reid Rick Ross reacts to LeBron James’ announcement on July 8 Photo: Spiff TV On July 8, 2010, these words changed it all for NBA fans: “This fall I’m going to take my talents to South Beach…” LeBron James made his now infamous decision to join friends and fellow free agents Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh on the Miami Heat and shook up the world, at least when it comes to professional sports. Fellow athletes Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan have weighed in , and so have a plethora of your favorite MCs . No one seems more excited than Miami native Rick Ross. MTV News has received footage from the night of James’ live ESPN special. While on the road promoting his Teflon Don LP (in stores Tuesday), Ross, on his tour bus, watched King James’ announcement. In the footage, which was shot by Ross’ video director Spiff TV, Ross, hearing James reveal his plans, jumps up as if he were watching the former #23 make a game-winning shot in the seventh game of the NBA finals. Ross, wearing a black T-shirt, jumps out of his seat with his eyes and mouth wide open and both his arms extended with his hands balled up in fists. “I told you!” Spiff yells. Meanwhile Def Jam executive Kendell “Young Sav” Freeman sits on the tour bus couch with a disappointed look on his face and says “damn.” Ross’ manager, Gucci Poochie, stands up and smiles. “Wow,” he says. “God is great,” Ross says, holding his Blackberry, readying a tweet. “It’s over for the next decade, baby. 305. Wade County. Chris Bosh. The King James. And it’s gonna be Ricky Rozay on the wood! I ain’t in the stands, I’m on the wood! I’m at all the games, baby. Maybach Music. I’m on Miami Heat now. Miami Heat, let’s go, baby. 305, Wade County!” Monday (July 19) morning, Ross was saluted by James, who tweeted lyrics from Ross’ new record, “Free Mason.” “My top back like JFK, they wanna push my top back like JFK,” James wrote on his page. “So I JFK, join forces with the Kings and we ate all day!” Ross responded on his page, writing, “Kings!!!!!! @KingJames bron bron. JFK!!!!” Related Photos LeBron James’ New Neighbors In Miami LeBron James’ Big Night If LeBron James Played On A Movie Team Related Artists Rick Ross (Hip-Hop)

Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami, Fight, Faint, Party

We actually have something positive to say about this week’s episode of Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami : it was baby talk free! As for what else went down on the most scripted show on television? We forced an intern to watch and to file the following report… On this week’s installment, Kourtney is obsessive about getting her body back into pre-baby shape. Also, Khloe is back in Miami from LA. Kourtney goes overboard in her mission. She has a shoot for Life & Style , who we all know has an exclusive deal with the Kardashians.

Jesse Jackson Defends LeBron James, Calls Cleveland Owner a "Slave Master"

Stop the presses: Jesse Jackson has come to the defense of LeBron James. Mind you, no one asked him to, no one cares what he says, and some of his word choice was predictably ridiculous – but he defended the NBA star, alright! Naturally, he compared bitter Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert, whose open letter to fans tore into James after he bolted the city, to a “slave master.” In a harshly-worded statement, the civil rights leader took Gilbert to task for his comments regarding LeBron’s decision last week to sign with the Miami Heat. Jackson says, “He speaks as an owner of LeBron and not the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers. His feelings of betrayal personify a slave master mentality.” “He sees LeBron as a runaway slave.” Jesse goes on, “LeBron is not a child, nor is he bound to play on Gilbert’s plantation and be demeaned. He has been a model citizen and has inspired the children of Akron, Cleveland, the State of Ohio and the United States.” Okay, look. No one is arguing James was bound to play for Cleveland and no one else, but it’s crystal clear why no sports fan outside South Florida likes him right now. The egotistical superstar didn’t simply abandon his hometown, he strung it along, then delivered the news in an absurd, staged primetime special on ESPN. Then he was introduced as a member of the Heat in a similarly bombastic, over-the-top event in Miami the next night, cementing his me-first villain status . What a d!ck move . Dan Gilbert may be glossing over his own role in James’ departure, and may even be unnecessarily bitter, but his berating of LeBron was in many ways justified – and certainly didn’t evoke any hint of “slave owner mentality.” Get real, Jesse.

Exclusive: Rick Ross’ Teflon Don Album Report

MTV News previews hotly anticipated July 20 LP, which finds Miami MC in rare form with lineup including Jay-Z, Kanye West, Diddy and more. By Shaheem Reid Rick Ross Photo: Getty Images Rick Ross is in the moment. He’s reflective and he’s planning for the future — all on his new LP, Teflon Don , due July 20. Ricky Rozay has his lineup more stacked than the Miami Heat, with Jay-Z (“Free Mason”), Diddy and Trey Songz (“No. 1”), Kanye West (“Live Fast, Die Young”) in the rotation. But it’s Ross’ continued progression as an MC, the Carol City Native’s refusal to let his rhyme skills be overshadowed that really makes you take notice. As for the beat selection, it remains on par with 2009’s sonically superb Deeper Than Rap, with the Bawse using soulful instrumentation and club thumps to blanket his words. No I.D. gets shouted out for his beat on “Tears of Joy,” which co-stars Cee-Lo. It’s Church-like and soul-stirring as Cee-Lo goes to his roots with vocals worthy of a pastor’s pulpit. “To all the loved ones I leave behind/ At least they can’t see my crying,” Cee-Lo sings. “And I ask, but someone wants to be me, why?/ Done everything but ease my mind/ If you could read my mind/ My God, I’m scarred/ I got tears of joy.” “Last night, I cried tears of joy,” Ross raps on the record. “What did I do to deserve this?” ” ‘Tears of Joy,’ that’s a very strong possibility [to be a single],” Ross told MTV News. “That’s the record I’ve never done, [that] I’ve never recorded. It’s gonna be most definitely real strong. The way I wrote the record, it’s so emotional. I rhyme four bars then I gotta catch my thoughts. I start back rhyming, I say something I feel is incredible then I stop again. I start back up then I start again. I got records that I have no ad-libs on; I’m trying a lot of different things. I’m just excited man.” “Biggie Smalls in the flesh, living life after my death,” Ross later adds on “Tears of Joy,” before addressing his court battle with DJ Vlad , resolved earlier this year. “Five different lawyers, Lord knows I’m stressed / A punch in the face will get you 300K/ Ask Vlad, now he’s back to making minimum wage/ Another victim of my criminal ways/ I wanna walk in the image Christ/ But that bitch Vivica nice.” Kanye West appears on and produced “Live Fast, Die Young” . “Most definitely!” Ross told us in May. “It’s gonna be most definitely a club banger, but it has that edge to it. That’s how ‘Ye loves to make music, he loves to take it to the edge. That’s where we went with it. It makes you feel like if you had that one record the rest of your life to play, that’s it right here. It’s really gonna make you feel good. We both talk about seeing the pitfalls in our rearview [mirror]. It’s a feel-good record.” T.I., Erykah Badu and Jadakiss all line up beside Ross on “Maybach Music 3,” while Gucci Mane jumps on an extended version of the club banger “M.C. Hammer” and Raphael Saadiq lends his vocals to the last song on the album, “All The Money in the World.” “It’s funny man, the name of the record he’s on is called ‘All The Money in The World.’ It’s a record talking about how I wouldn’t trade my fundamentals for all the money in the world. I talked about people that’s no longer here: my father, a few of my friends. I talked about if I could see them again, what would I do? It was almost to that fact that I’ll sing for you. That’s what I did on the record.” “Turn off the lights,” Ross and Saadiq sing together. “Take a ride with me/ I wanna see you smile/ It’s a fantasy/ “La, la, la, la.” “Just to have Raphael Saadiq hold me down — ‘It Never Rains in Southern California,’ Tony! Big Boi Wanted To ‘Seek And Destroy’ On Sir Lucious Left Foot

‘I’m an MC, first and foremost,’ the Outkast rapper tells MTV News of evolution from 2003’s solo Speakerboxxx. By Jayson Rodriguez Big Boi Photo: MTV News Big Boi’s Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty is billed as the OutKast rapper’s proper solo debut, but the Atlanta MC actually released a solo collection years ago, if you count his and Andre 3000’s double disc Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. The 2003 project was divided into solo sets from Big and Dre, and both rappers scored number-one hits from their respective albums. Still, while Big had technically recorded that collection on his own, he says his approach to this year’s Sir Lucious Left Foot was distinctly different because instead of releasing an LP that was an extension of the Outkast sound, this time, it was all about showcasing the Atlanta MC’s lyrical ability.

LeBron James’ Move To Miami Heat Prompts Reactions From Hip-Hop Community

Ludacris, Soulja Boy, Diddy, Fabolous and others take to Twitter over King James’ career choice. By Mawuse Ziegbe LeBron James announces he will play for the Miami Heat on Thursday Photo: Larry Busacca/Getty Images Basketball fans around the country reacted strongly when LeBron James finally dropped the news last night that he was signing with the Miami Heat after frenzied speculation about the NBA MVP’s next move. Hip-hop’s basketball fans took to Twitter in droves to vent, lament and crack jokes about King James’ decision. Teflon Don Rick Ross tweeted “Miami the spotlight of the world!!!!!” which was later re-tweeted by fellow Miami MC Trina. “Pretty Boy Swag” rapper Soulja Boy Tell’em offered a simple Twitter message about the ‘Bron hubbub, tweeting “Lebron James Swag.” Even glitzy ’90s rapper MC Hammer enthusiastically chimed in with “LeBron signs with the HEAT !!!!” Diddy , like many New Yorkers, had been hoping James would come to Gotham and wrote on his Twitter page, “Lebron will sign with the knicks! Yea I said it!” But an hour later, the party-startin’ mogul seemed at peace with ‘Bron’s finale choice and tweeted, “ok i can handle Miami!!! its my second home!!!! lets go!!!!!!” Queens MC Q-Tip approved of James’ choice and typed on Friday (July 9), “I think @kingjames made the right decision.” Rumors had been swirling that James would possibly go to a Chicago, New York or New Jersey team, so not everyone was geeked about ‘Bron heading down south. “Miami???!!!! nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” ?uestlove of the Roots said in an impassioned tweet. Some MCs offered their sympathies to fans of James’ former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers. D.C. MC Wale , who called the MVP’s choice earlier in the night, tweeting, “Miami…I bet,” followed up his prediction an hour later with a comforting note for Cleveland: “Seriously feel bad for cavs fans.” Ludacris offered something a little stronger for Cavs fans , tweeting, “Conjure [cognac] is on deck in Cleveland just in case anybody feel like gettin f—ed up tonight.” Others typed their thoughts about how James’ move would affect the Heat. Dallas rapper Dorrough tweeted , “LeBron James and DeWayne Wade is Like Jordan and Kobe on the same team. I dont think its gon work.” ATL songstress Ciara tweeted “Looks [like] Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets next year!” likely referencing a possible showdown between Miami and Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony. As fans eagerly anticipated James’ announcement last night, one artist took the opportunity to mine some humor out of the situation. Brooklyn MC Fabolous , who is known for his punchy one-liners, started the trending topic #JustOfferedLebron, which resulted in tweets like, “The Nets #JustOfferedLebron a Best of Both Worlds 3 album wit JayZ if he signs,” and “BP #JustOfferedLebron free gas for life if he continues to take all the attention off the oil spill.” Related Photos LeBron James’ New Neighbors In Miami LeBron James’ Big Night
