‘The Hills’ Stars Call Final Season ‘Bittersweet’

‘It’s sad! We’ve been together for so long,’ Audrina Patridge says of sixth and final season, debuting April 27. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Kelly Marino Stephanie Pratt and Lo Bosworth Photo: MTV News In the just-debuted “Hills” trailer, fans got a sneak peek at all the highs and lows expected in the show’s final season , debuting April 27. While it might be a surprise to viewers that the show has decided to hang up its hat, the stars anticipated that, like all good things, this too would come to an end. “It’s sad! We’ve been together for so long,” Audrina Patridge told MTV News over the weekend. “I’m going to be 25 this year, so that’s been my life for the last five years. And it’s sad to let go of that, because it’s something that I’ve become so used to, and it’s so easy and natural. But at the same time, it’s nice to graduate, and I’m ready to move on and do the next big thing.” While Kristin Cavallari’s time on the show was considerably shorter than Patridge’s, the show’s new star said it still isn’t easy to say goodbye. “When I found out that this was the last season of ‘The Hills,’ I was kind of expecting it. I wasn’t expecting it before the season actually premiered, though,” she said. “It’s bittersweet. I think it’s kind of time, and everyone’s ready to move on and do other things, but it’s … going to be sad.” Like Cavallari, Lo Bosworth appeared on both “Laguna Beach” and “The Hills” and says that seeing the show come to an end is a bit of a strange experience. “We were, I think, anticipating it was going to come to an end, but it’s sort of surreal, ’cause this has been our lives,” she said. “And to have that change is sort of scary, but we’re all really excited.” Stephanie Pratt thinks now is a good time to end the show, since everyone’s lives are a lot more settled now than when the show started in May 2006. “I called Lo right after I heard just to see if she knew. … I pretty much figured it was the last season,” she said. “We all have really grown up, and we really don’t go to nightclubs every night anymore. We’re just, like, more mature. I mean, we still fight with each other, but it’s the sixth season. I’ve never known a reality show to go as far as ‘The Hills.’ ” What was your reaction when you found out “The Hills” was ending? Tell us in the comments! “The Hills: Final Season” premieres April 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT followed by “The City” at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Related Videos ‘The Hills’ Final Season Trailer Premiere

How Does Obama’s Health Care Bill Affect Your Student Aid?

Federal loans and grants for college change when the bill becomes a law on Tuesday. By Alexandria Bradshaw President Obama signs the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act Photo: CBS President Obama signed the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act on Tuesday morning (March 30), after the bill passed in the House last Thursday. Setting aside the complicated health-care reform the law tackles, the Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act (SAFRA) included within it is intended to make paying for and completing college more feasible. According to the White House, SAFRA is expected to save taxpayers $68 billion over the next decade while nearing the Obama administration’s goal of producing the most college graduates in the world by 2020. So how, exactly, will the new legislation affect you? Eliminating Subsidies for Lenders : SAFRA will eliminate grants given to private banks and other financial institutions who distribute federal student loans. These loans, formally known as the Family Federal Education Loan program, are most commonly referred to as Stafford Loans. The new bill will replace Stafford Loans with lower-interest loans provided directly by the government to students. Increasing Pell Grants : A Pell Grant is money given to you by the government that you do not have to pay back. Under the new act, $36 billion will go toward increasing maximum annual Pell Grant scholarships. Students who qualify for financial aid will now be eligible for up to $5,500 (up from $5,350) in grants for the 2010-2011 school year. This figure will increase to $5,975 in 2017. Strengthening the Income-Based Repayment Program : The current Income-Based Repayment Program allows borrowers to cap their monthly loan payments at 15 percent of their income. SAFRA will invest $1.5 billion in the existing program to lower this number to 10 percent for new borrowers (recent college grads) after 2014. Increasing Funding for HBCUs, MSIs and Community Colleges : Historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and other minority-serving institutions (MSIs) will share $2.55 billion to provide their students with the resources and support they need to graduate. Additionally, $2 billion in competitive grants will be offered to strengthen programs at community colleges. You can access information and resources related to college completion at GetSchooled.com , where you can also watch the “Get Schooled: You Have a Right” special featuring President Barack Obama, LeBron James and Kelly Clarkson.

Usher Says Raymond V. Raymond Proves He Hasn’t Lost His Swagger

‘This one is it: Raymond V. Raymond !’ singer says. By Shaheem Reid Usher Photo: MTV News With more than 45 million albums sold, Usher has already established himself as one of the greats of contemporary music. But does the singer see himself as a legend? “I’m Usher, the one and only,” he laughed last week during a sitdown with MTV News in New York. “For me, I think [Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye] — they figured out what they were as they were going, by inspiration as well. Philanthropy is one thing all of them did in some way — rather, it was allowing their music to speak to where they were and what they had to say, from Michael to Stevie Wonder to Marvin. The one thing they all had is the ability to last forever. Two of them are now gone, Michael and Marvin, their music will last forever, and that’s something I hope to accomplish.” Usher’s catalog is certainly solid, with his 2004 Confessions LP considered by many to be his best (it’s sold more than 10 million copies just in the U.S.). The singer’s new LP, Raymond v. Raymond, was released today (March 30). “Part of the reason why I did this album so you can understand the full spectrum of who I am as an artist,” Usher said about the album. “My life has been kinda played out as a journey and going through different chapters, with the albums representing the chapters. It’s the sixth album for me. And when I look back to the people that I admire, I admire people who take you on a journey to where they have been, musically, places they have gone; the culture of that time that affected them, the cultural movement. All of that, they figured out a way to encompass it in the music they made. That’s what this album is.” “This album means so much to my career,” Usher told MTV.com recently . “I think this is the one time where I’m able to put it all in, emotionally and the good times — super-freaky and then also super-emotional. Raymond v. Raymond, artistically, is one of my greatest pieces of work, not only just because of the content but also the people whom I got involved in it: T.I., Will.I.Am, Puff, Nicki Minaj …” The album also features a collaboration with Ludacris — who collaborated on one of Usher’s biggest hits, 2004’s “Yeah!” — on “She Don’t Know.” And the video for the Will I. Am. collaboration, “OMG,” recently hit the Internet. The clip is all performance as Usher brings his dance moves to the forefront. “A lot of people may have felt like I lost my swagger,” Usher said. “Let me tell you something: I play long-balls, so now we back. This one is it: Raymond v. Raymond ! What do you think of Usher’s new album? Has he gotten his swagger back? Was it ever gone? Let us know in the comments below! Related Artists Usher

Michael Jackson’s Heart Still Beating In Emergency Room, Lawyer Claims

Joe Jackson, singer’s father, is likely to file a wrongful death suit against Dr. Conrad Murray within 90 days. By Gil Kaufman Dr. Conrad Murray Photo: Toby Canham/ Getty Images Despite initial reports that Michael Jackson was unresponsive and paramedics were unable to revive him when he suffered cardiac arrest last June, an attorney for Jackson’s father, Joseph, claims that the singer had a weak heartbeat when he arrived in the emergency room. According to CNN , the claim is the first step in a pending wrongful death suit against Jackson’s personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, who has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the case. The suit could be filed within the next 90 days, and it will hinge on the crucial final moments of Jackson’s life and Murray’s actions during that time. Attorney Brian Oxman, who is representing Joseph Jackson, told CNN that medical records show that Jackson’s heart beat briefly when he arrived at the UCLA Medical Center emergency room, but that the musical icon was “long gone” by that point. Oxman mailed a letter to Murray’s representatives over the weekend serving notice that the wrongful death suit is imminent and that it will accuse Murray of causing Jackson’s death by not calling an ambulance fast enough. “The bottom line is, had [paramedics] gotten there earlier and had they been called right away, chances are he could have been revived,” Oxman said, noting that medical records show Jackson was “long gone, 20 to 40 minutes before the paramedics got there.” reported that doctors who worked on Jackson at the hospital said two EKG tests showed rhythmic heart activity both times and that unnamed sources close to Murray claim the doctor said he was able to restart Jackson’s heart at the singer’s rented home before paramedics arrived and maintain it in the ambulance. Those claims contradict those from paramedics on the scene, who said they wanted to take Jackson straight to the morgue and not the hospital because they believed he was already dead, as well as those from Oxman, who credited the weak pulse found at UCLA Medical Center to a reaction from resuscitation results. The Los Angeles coroner concluded that Jackson’s death was caused by “acute propofol intoxication” caused by a large dose of the powerful surgical anesthetic administered by Murray in an attempt to help Jackson, a chronic insomniac, get to sleep. Jackson, 50, was pronounced dead at UCLA Medical two hours after arriving. Murray is currently free on $75,000 bail in the case, and since California law requires medical wrongful death lawsuits to be filed within a year of the death, Oxman said the 90-day notice was given in order to meet the legal deadline for filing. The next hearing in Murray’s criminal case, in which he faces up to four years in prison , is April 5. Last week, a prosecutor’s report was leaked that claimed a witness said Murray stopped efforts to resuscitate Jackson in order to collect and hide multiple bottles of propofol before authorities arrived. In the notice, Oxman called the alleged delay “an outrageous departure from the standard of care.” A spokesperson for Murray’s lawyer, Ed Chernoff, said he had not received the letter but described it as “a bucket of water thrown on a man drowning in the ocean.” Joe Jackson has long claimed that he believed there was a cover-up in the death of his son , and after Murray’s charging, he referred to the physician as a “fall guy,” saying he believed there were other unnamed people involved. Mila Kunis Shows Off Her Tits Culkin of the Day

I don’t know where these Mila Kunis pictures are from, but I do know that I have a thing for Mila Kunis. She is the reason I made it through a Russell Brand movie. She is the reason I used to get hard watching Family Guy. She is the reason I watched That 70s Show and almost liked it. There’s just something mystical about Mila Kunis and that thing is not the fact that she is engaged to Michael Jackson’s emotionally distraught, confused, drugged up ex-child star…. Macaulay Culkin managing to convince her into his bedroom despite his probably AIDS dick, is the one thing that is wrong with her, I mean sure, their relationship means she’s loyal and not too picky, doesn’t mind people who don’t shower and that she has no issue running after her childhood dreams and that she gets what she sets her mind to, even if that thing isn’t reaching for the stars, but I just hope she just feel obligated to be there for Macaulay Culkin since no one else is, in some friendship and maternal way, since he’s gay. The whole thing is unfortunate, but her showing off her tits for some male attention that she’s not getting at home is really one of the best things in Hollywood according to me, which isn’t saying much, but it’s saying something.
