Michael Jackson’s Kids Attend His Tribute Concert

Michael Jackson’s Kids Honor Dad in Wales

Christina Aguilera rocked the house and Jennifer Hudson no-showed , but the big story of the Michael Forever tribute concert was the appearance by his kids. Michael Jackson’s children Prince, 14, Paris, 13 and Blanket, 9, took the stage briefly in Cardiff, Wales, to introduce a live satellite performance by Beyonce. “We’re very happy to be here on this special night to honour our father,” said Paris, dressed in an exact replica of the jacket MJ wore in his “Thriller” video. Prince’s outfit conjures up images of “Bad,” while young Blanket went for one of his dad’s more recent looks, with the long hair and the signature armband: The legendary singer, perhaps the single most successful artist in modern music, died in 2009 aged 50 while rehearsing for a series of comeback concerts. The Michael Forever tribute concert coincides with the involuntary manslaughter trial of the singer’s doctor, Dr. Conrad Murray , currently underway in L.A. Prince, Paris and Blanket have agreed to boycott coverage of the trial, though Prince has also said he will testify if called by the prosecution in the case. Michael’s brothers Jermaine and Randy boycotted the tribute show, calling it ”ill-timed” and ‘inappropriate” given the criminal proceedings taking place. Janet Jackson was less opposed to the show, but declined to perform because it would be “too painful”. In any case, here’s a video of Michael Jackson’s kids … Paris, Prince and Blanket at Michael Forever Concert

Roger Williams Passes Away at 87

Roger Williams, a virtuoso pianist who topped the Billboard pop chart in the 1950s and played for nine U.S. presidents during a long career, passed away Saturday. He was 87. The electrifying stage performer and an adept improviser died at home in Los Angeles of complications from pancreatic cancer, according to reports. Williams’ 1955 hit “Autumn Leaves” is the only piano instrumental to reach No. 1 on the Billboard pop charts and remains the best-selling piano record of all time. Nicknamed the “pianist to the presidents,” Williams played for every commander in chief from Harry Truman to George W. Bush. He was a close friend to several. Williams was close friends with Jimmy Carter, with whom he shared a birthday. When the two men turned 80, Mr. Williams played at the Jimmy Carter Library. As a teenager, Williams had already scored his own 15-minute radio show on KRNT, broadcast live from a Des Moines, Iowa (his hometown), department store. Later he hosted a program on WHO, where he met a young sports announcer named Ronald “Dutch” Reagan. The two became friends – for over six decades. Williams moved to New York to study jazz at the Juilliard School of Music. He is credited with at least 22 hit singles from 37 commercially successful albums. He is not to be confused for the 17th Century English theologian for whom a Rhode Island university is named, or for JWoww’s huge boyfriend Roger Williams .

Michael Jackson Propofol Levels: Not Low!

Dr. Conrad Murray’s defense attorney has told jurors that the personal physician to Michael Jackson gave him a modest 25 milligrams of Propofol on June 25, 2009. Reports suggest the star had significantly higher levels of the powerful anesthetic in his system, however. Of course, Murray’s defense also has an answer for that. Dr. Murray’s lawyers contend that when the cardiologist left the room briefly, Michael Jackson killed himself , unintentionally, by taking a lethal dose himself. Among the problems with Murray’s controversial defense theory: Michael Jackson’s fingerprints were NOT on any Propofol Murray’s girlfriends cast doubt on his timeline of events As testimony in the involuntary manslaughter trial continues, medical professionals are expected to reveal “toxic and lethal levels of Propofol in his system,” reports say . The levels of Propofol were reportedly extremely high, which if so, plays into the prosecutors’ case that Murray negligent in his actions before and after MJ died. Two paramedics and two doctors that treated Jackson at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center told jurors Murray never revealed he gave Jackson Propofol.

‘X Factor’ Boot Camp Sends Chris Rene, Rachel Crow Through

Simon Cowell ends up a mentor to the girls, with Nicole Scherzinger in charge of the over-30 group. By Gil Kaufman Simon Cowell Photo: FOX After a relatively sane four audition episodes, “X Factor” got down to business on Thursday night (October 6), when the second evening of boot camp helped cull the herd down to the semifinal contender class. While some early favorites such as Siameze Floyd and adorable not-yet couple McKenna and Brock cracked under the pressure, others, including Chris Rene, Josh Krajcik and cutie brother act the Brewer Boys, survived the group competition and punched their ticket to the next round. The two-night boot camp episode reduced the 162 contenders to 32, with eight in each of the four categories: boys, girls, over-30s and groups. After 62 acts were lopped at the top of Wednesday night’s show, half of the remaining singers were put into groups that got help from vocal coaches, stylists and choreographers. Their challenge was to work with their peers while shining on their own on songs by U2, Radiohead, Jay-Z, Marvin Gaye, Rascal Flatts, Whitney Houston, Nina Simone, the Eagles, Five for Fighting and Snow Patrol. Simon Cowell says “X Factor” boot camp gets real. One of the show’s early standout stars, hard-luck story and recovering addict Chris Rene, singing alongside his soulful sister Gina, shone again on Gaye’s “What’s Going On,” which also put R&B crooner Marcus Canty back in the spotlight. Twangy country singer Tim Cifers delivered again on the Flatts tune, and Bieber-esque teen sibling duo the Brewer Boys were in the pocket again on Snow Patrol’s “Chasing Cars.” By midshow, the cuts began, with one group going home in tears, and another, which included the Renes, perpetually on-the-bubble Tiah Tolliver, the Brewers, adorable 14-year-old soul singer Crow and Prince-like wildman Floyd making it for one more day. The bad news was that the 64 remaining acts had to turn around, pick another song and do it all over again to make the final cut … in front of an audience of 3,000. Crow went somber with a piano-assisted cover of Beyonc

Justin Bieber My World Tour Is ‘The Loudest Thing’

Bieber tour insiders, including road DJ and openers Cobra Starship, dish to MTV News about ‘absolutely ridiculous’ South America shows. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber greets fans at the W Hotel in Mexico City Photo: W Mexico City Justin Bieber has taken his My World Tour to Mexico and South America, and by all accounts, things are going really well. MTV News got the scoop directly from some of the folks that are on the road with the Biebs, including his tour DJ and one of his tourmates. “Everything’s been cool. Everything’s been great,” DJ Tay James told MTV News. “Absolutely ridiculous. I’ve been with him since his second show and just to see him do shows with 300 people to us doing [shows with] 50,000, it’s crazy. I’m just happy to be in the position that I am. That’s like my little brother.” Cobra Starship are Bieber’s opening act on the tour, and the group’s bassist, Alex Suarez, said he was amazed by the size of the crowds, not to mention the loudness. “You know, it’s not too different than how we kind of got our start,” he said. “When we started touring, we started touring with Fall Out Boy and doing big tours. I think we’ve come to the point where Cobra, our fans have stuck with us. “It’s really amazing,” he continued. “These are the largest shows that we ever played. As soon as they open the doors, there is a constant tone of scream. It is really amazing. We watched Justin’s set — it’s the loudest thing.” There’s a lot of downtime on the road, and according to DJ Tay, when they aren’t onstage entertaining the Beliebers, he and the Biebs often discuss music. “We definitely converse on new music,” he shared. “I know [Justin’s] a big fan of Drake and Busta Rhymes. He will put me onto music and I will put him onto music; we keep each other up on it.” They also spend a lot of time playing music and posting videos online. “This whole DJing thing came out of nowhere,” the DJ said. “We started this when I first got on with him and he just wanted to play around with the turntables. He was scratching here and there, and then he was like, ‘Man, teach me a few things.’ So every time we do a video, he gets a step better. And I just wanted to show everyone he’s trying. He’s open to new things. That’s something about him that I admire.” DJ Tay also teased Bieber’s upcoming Christmas LP, Under the Mistletoe, predicting the teen star will have everyone going bananas on November 1. “You guys got to get ready for this Christmas album. It’s amazing. It’s probably one of the best Christmas albums that I ever heard,” he said.
