Teresa Giudice, Husband Indicted on 39 Criminal Charges; Face 50 Years in Jail

Teresa Giudice and her husband are in major trouble with the law. U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced today a 39-count indictment against The Real Housewives of New Jersey couple, alleging that the Giudices defrauded the IRS and a number of banks over an seven-year period that started in 2001. According to the legal filings, Teresa and Joe schemed to illegally obtain mortgages and other loans from various banks by purposely overestimating their incomes in order to garner more cash. As previously reported, the reality stars then withheld key information about their net worth when they filed for bankruptcy in 2009. Joe, meanwhile, is accused of failing to file income tax returns for all the years between 2004 and 2008, despite supposedly banking $1 million during that time. Overall, the charges levied against this couple include: Conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 20 years. Bank fraud, which carries a maximum of 30 years. TMZ reached out to Bravo for comment, but the network is yet to address the situation. Yikes.

Amanda Berry Cheered at Nelly Concert in First Public Appearance Since Rescue

Amanda Berry showed up at the RoverFest concert in Cleveland on Saturday night, where she was cheered by a huge crowd – and rapper Nelly. Held captive in the city for a decade, she made her first public appearance a day after Ariel Castro pleaded guilty to kidnapping and rape charges. Amanda Berry First Public Appearance Berry walked on stage with her family, wearing sunglasses and dressed in jeans and a black T-shirt. She smiled broadly, but didn’t address the crowd. Nelly called Berry back to the stage after his music set to meet her. Berry, 27, was held captive along with Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight until their stunning rescue this May, when Charles Ramsey aided their escape. All of whom vanished between 2002 and 2004. Her first public appearance came a day after Castro pleaded guilty to 937 counts in a plea deal that will send him to prison for life without parole. Shane French, the host of the syndicated talk radio show Rover’s Morning Glory on WMMS in Cleveland, said he was surprised when Berry showed up. French, who goes by the name Rover on radio, said he had issued an impromptu invitation on his show a few weeks ago but didn’t know she was listening. “I just said she had 10 years of partying to make up for and should come,” French said, adding that he was shocked when security told him Berry had arrived. French said that Amanda Berry at first refused to go on stage at the event, but then agreed after she asked if he would go with her and he obliged. “She didn’t say why she decided to come, but some of her family told me they listen to my show every day and had been to RoverFest in the past,” French said. He said a couple of the women with Berry cried. “I didn’t see her cry, but I think she was pretty overwhelmed by the response that the crowd gave her,” he said. “She just seemed to be having a great time.”

Ariel Castro Pleads Guilty to Rape, Kidnapping, Murder; Sentenced to 1,000 Years

Ariel Castro agreed to a plea deal in an Ohio courtroom Friday that will save him from the death penalty, but never again will he see the light of day. He was sentenced to life, plus 1,000 years in prison. Ariel Castro Pleads Guilty The deal, reached with prosecutors, would let him avoid the possibility of a death sentence and spare his victims from having to testify at a trial. The plea deal entails that the Cleveland kidnapping perpetrator be sentenced to life in prison without parole – he will never even get a parole hearing. It would also mean that a trial Castro was facing on August 5 would not happen and he would not face the possibility of being sentenced to death. Judge Michael J. Russo went over the deal with Castro, and told him that he would be labeled as a sexual predator. Castro replied that he understood. Russo went through charges Ariel Castro faces relating to the allegations he held three women captive for a decade and asked how he pleaded. Over and over and over again, he replied: “Guilty.” An attorney for three kidnapping victims told CNN that they were hoping for a plea deal because they did not want to take the stand at Castro’s trial. One can certainly sympathize with that. A law firm representing Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry and Georgina “Gina” DeJesus, issued a statement after Ariel Castro agreed to a plea. “Amanda, Gina, and Michelle are relieved by today’s plea,” according to Jones Day. “They are satisfied by this resolution to the case, and are looking forward to having these legal proceedings draw to a final close in the near future.” The women want to remain private and don’t want to speak to media or others, the statement said, but they’re grateful for the support they’ve received.

GTFOHWTBS: Ariel Castro To Plead Not Guilty, Lawyer Says “He’s A Human Being, The Media Wants To Demonize Him Before They Know The Whole Story”

The lawyers defending Cleveland kidnapper Ariel Castro claim he’s not the monster the media is making him out to be. Via People reports : Ariel Castro, who is facing kidnapping and forced sex charges over the alleged abduction of three Cleveland women, will plead not guilty, his lawyers say. “The initial portrayal of him is one of a quote ‘monster,’ and that is not the impression that I got,” one of his two attorneys, Craig Weintraub, said in an interview that aired on Wednesday’s Today show. Added Castro’s co-counsel, attorney Jaye Schlachet: “He is a human being, but what is offensive is that the women and the media want to demonize this man before they know the whole story, and I think it’s unfair and not equitable.” While prosecutors have alleged that Castro, 52, operated a torture chamber and private prison, keeping the women – Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight – incarcerated and often chained for up to a decade inside his Cleveland home, Castro’s attorneys say they know the whole story, which will come out as the case moves ahead. “I am aware of how he came in contact with them,” Weintraub told NBC News about the three victims. He did not reveal further details of the defense’s strategy. A not-guilty plea would send the case to trial, which could force the three women to testify and, as experts have pointed out, re-live what authorities say took place in the house. DNA tests show Castro is the father of a daughter, 6, with victim Amanda Berry, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced earlier this week. While Castro is kept locked in the Cuyahoga County jail cell in isolation, his lawyers say he is concerned about his child and that he is a loving dad. Speaking to TV station WKYC Tuesday, the attorneys – Schlachet also defended convicted Cleveland serial killer Anthony Sowell, now on death row for the murder of 11 women whose bodies were found at his home – expressed their concern about Castro’s receiving a fair trial. “Mr. Castro is extremely committed to the well-being and positive future of his daughter, who he loves and cares about,” said Weintraub. If he loved and cared about his daughter so much, maybe he shouldn’t have been raising her in a home where he kept HUMAN BEINGS as sex slaves and prisoners. SMH. These lawyers ain’t isht! Michelle Knight, Kidnap Victim, Shuns Family Following Rescue

Michelle Knight, one of the three Cleveland kidnapping victims found alive earlier this week, has reportedly shunned her family following her rescue. Knight had been missing for 11 years when she was found in a dungeon-like Cleveland house with Amanda Berry , 27, and Gina DeJesus, 23. Knight had been in the house the longest and suffered brutal injuries at the hands of her captor, Ariel Castro , who is charged with rape and kidnapping. But while the two other freed captives have returned home to cheering crowds and yards full of balloons, Knight did not enjoy a similar scenario. Instead, the Cleveland kidnap victim has, according to reports, shunned her family for thinking she had just run away and failing to look for her. Knight’s mother and grandmother have been to Cleveland this week since news of her rescue broke, but Michelle has kept both of them at bay. “No, we haven’t [seen her], on her request. She does not want to be seen by family,” said Deborah Knight, the victim’s grandmother, to ABC News. Knight has opted for seclusion since her astonishing rescue. The kidnap victim has not shunned her entire family. One of her two brothers, Freddie Knight, did have a chance to visit his sister in the hospital. “Her skin was white as a ghost,” said Freddie Knight. “She told me she was just excited to start a new life.” That may be a long and painful process. It appears Michelle suffered immensely in captivity. Starvation, beatings and forced miscarriages were common. Knight was a 20-year-old single mother when she went missing in 2002, having lost a custody battle and seen officials take away her toddler son. When she was abducted, her family filed a missing persons report. However, police apparently viewed her as a runaway, and her case did not garner the same media attention as the disappearances of DeJesus or Berry. The remarkable ending to the case has garnered huge attention this week, with the three women and neighbor Charles Ramsey being hailed as heroes.

Ariel Castro Charged With Rape, Kidnapping of Three Rescued Ohio Women

Ariel Castro has been charged with rape and kidnapping after three women missing for about a decade were found alive at his home on Monday. Castro appeared in court Thursday morning, handcuffed. He didn’t speak and looked down the entire time. Bond was set at $2 million on each case. Neighbor Charles Ramsey heard cries for help and aided their escape this week, leading to the stunning rescue of the girls who vanished from 2002-04. The women – Amanda Berry , Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight – were found alive after a decade in captivity leading lonely, dark lives in a dingy home. They were routinely raped and allowed outside only a handful of times in disguises while walking to a garage steps away, investigators believe. Castro, a 52-year-old former school bus driver, has emerged as the lone suspect. His two brothers were also arrested; it is unclear what charges they face. Many questions remain about how Castro maintained such tight control over the women for so many years before one of them made a daring escape . The horrors they suffered are beginning to come to light, however. Police say the women were bound by ropes and chains at times and were kept in different rooms, subjected to prolonged sexual and psychological abuse. Castro is charged with four counts of kidnapping, covering the captives and a daughter born to Berry, and three counts of rape, against all three women. Cleveland 19 Action News reporter Scott Taylor says he received a copy of a letter from 2004 that was found in the home, presumably written by Castro. Says Taylor: “I just got a copy of a letter written by Ariel Castro in 2004. Cops found it in his house. He says ‘I am a sexual predator. I need help.'” “‘They are here against their will because they made a mistake of getting in a car with a stranger. I don’t know why I kept looking for another. I already had 2 in my possession.’” Castro writes about wanting to kill himself and “give all the money I saved to my victims,” as well as how he is surprised at how young DeJesus was.

People Ain’t Isht: Cleveland Kidnapper Ariel Castro Also Accused Of “Killing” His Ex-Wife By Ex-Brother-In-Law!

The plot thickens… Ariel Castro Accused Of Killing Ex-Wife By Ex-Brother-In-Law Maybe Charles Ramsey should have put dem paws on this sick fawker. Via RadarOnline Amanda Berry, Michelle Knight and Gina DeJesus were not Ariel Castro‘s only victims. The alleged kidnapper’s ex-brother-in-law, Jose Figueroa, tells RadarOnline.com that Castro physically abused his wife Grimilda for years, so much so, he claims, it eventually killed her. “I believe he murdered my sister,” Figueroa tells RadarOnline.com, in an exclusive interview. “He abused her for years. She had multiple instances of serious head trauma and it created a brain tumor in her head.” She passed away on April 25, 2012. “My sister was in hell living with him,” Figueroa explains. “She was trapped there and there was nothing we could do. She was afraid of him.” “We’d go over to visit and he’d never let us in the house,” he says. “When my parents managed to go visit her, she’d make it quick and rush them out because she was afraid he’d come back and beat on her. When she visited our house with him, she’d just stand next to him and be quiet.” “We knew something was wrong with him then, but we could never have imagined something like this would occur. Hearing the news was shocking.” Ariel Castro has been living that creep life for a LONG time now….SMFH Grimilda escaped Costa’s clutches in 1996, heading to a battered women’s shelter. Her children with Castro — Angie, Emily, Anthony and Rosie — also escaped. “If she stayed with Ariel, he would have killed her,” her brother says. “She had gone to the hospital and called the police many times but they never did anything.” According to a 2005 filing in an Ohio court, Castro attacked his former wife leaving her with two broken noses, broken ribs, a knocked-out tooth, a blood clot on the brain and two dislocated shoulders. Her attorney, Robert Ferreri, requested that a judge “keep [Castro] from threatening to kill [Figueroa]” and noted that despite having no visitation right, he “frequently abducts daughters and keeps them from mother.” It’s really scary to think that someone could get away with this kinda sick isht for so long without any intervention from authorities. The last time Figueroa saw Castro was at his sister’s funeral last year. “I actually saw him at her funeral and man we wanted to do something to him,” Figueroa recalls. “My father had to pull me back and remind me that it was a funeral and it was no place for fighting. But we all didn’t like him for what he did to Grimilda.” “Everyone knew he was up to something,” he says. “Ariel mistreated my sister for years, and now this.” Similar to the case of the 3 girls Castro kidnapped, Figueroa says his sister had called Cleveland Police many, many times and nothing was ever done. Cleveland PD is a joke… Image via
