My Bieber Experience is not all that amazing, like meeting him, or talking to his crew, it’s just simple. But it’s crazy how one little thing can change a fan! And that’s what happened to me. It was June 9, 2011 . Which was also my first day of summer, but in Michigan, the weather is bipolar and it was rainy and gloomy outside. My friends and I were having a scary movie day. We were in the middle of the movie and Justin started tweeting. I could tell he was in a bad mood because of certain haters, so he tweeted, “please post your favorite WILL FERRELL moments.” The first thing that came to mind was the ‘More Cowbell’ SNL skit that Justin is obsessed with. Of course I tweeted, “@justinbieber More cowbell!” I figured he wouldn’t see it just like every other time I tweet to him so I just went on watching the movie. But, fifteen minutes later, I got a call from my bestfriend’s little sister, who is also my little sister’s bestfriend, that he retweeted me. I didn’t believe her and I was talking to her really loudly so everyone was yelling at me because they wanted to watch the movie , but I had to check for myself. I logged onto Twitter. I look and suddenly I have like 100 more followers than I did before and then I started to believe her. I went onto Justin’s page and I saw that he retweeted me. I was on the ground, screaming. I was also hyperventalating. Then I go back to my home page and all of my friends are tweeting me, “You are sooooo lucky!” “he is following you!” So I look, and they were right! He’s following me! Here come the waterworks. People were tweeting me, “Follow me!” I felt like a celeb. I couldn’t believe it! I never thought he’d ever even notice me! But now,(3 days later), that tweet has been retweeted by 841 people and I have gained like 700 followers. I still can’t believe it. I only tweeted that to him once! I didn’t even spam him or anything! So, make sure that you never give up and most importantly, NEVER SAY NEVER! Dreams can come true. -Madeline/@nitrameniledam Read the rest here: My Bieber Experience is not all that amazing, like meeting him,…
As college and graduate school students turn the tassels on their graduation caps, many will instantly find themselves without health insurance — even in Massachusetts with its insurance mandate. Some students were insured through their school policies, which run out after graduation. Bad Memories Can Be Erased With A Pill – Consider staying on a parent’s plan. The Affordable Care Act now mandates that employer health plans cover their employee’s young adult children until age 26 even if they’re no longer dependents — though some companies may have been granted a waiver from this coverage if they had their old plans grandfathered in. – But do a little comparison shopping first. Take a look at what insurance plans costs. There may be more affordable ones around you – Make sure any plan offers in-network doctors in the state where you now reside. While it may have made sense for, say, a Harvard student to travel back to Michigan for annual physicals and twice-yearly dental exams during summer vacation and winter break, that may not work so well after graduation when “home” is no longer with the parents. Aziz Ansari and Nick Swardson keep the rumor going at MTV’s Sneak Peek Week. By Eric Ditzian Aziz Ansari Photo: MTV News Ruben Fleischer, in his directorial debut, established himself as a savvy proponent of the celebrity cameo. Midway through 2009’s “Zombieland,” Bill Murray popped up in perfect out-of-nowhere fashion to steal some scenes and leave everyone wondering, “How’d they convince a comedy legend to dress up in zombie makeup and send up his own larger-than-life persona?” And when Fleischer embarked upon his second feature, the action/comedy “30 Minutes or Less,” rumors began to swirl that the director had done it again, albeit with a far younger Hollywood player. Last summer, the Web began to buzz with word that Taylor Lautner had dropped into the Grand Rapids, Michigan set to shoot a cameo. Could it be true? When MTV News visited the set a few weeks later, Fleischer’s lips were sealed when we asked about the Twi-cameo. On Friday night (June 3), at MTV’s Sneak Peak Week presentation of “30 Minutes,” it turned out that Lautner, in fact, was not in the film. So, during the post-screening Q&A, we put the question to Fleischer and stars Aziz Ansari and Nick Swardson. “He’s in it!” Ansari said. Wait, what? Did we somehow miss the most famous abs in Hollywood? “He plays a bum,” Swardson chimed in. Or not. The whole thing, it turns out, was just a rumor. “I read that somewhere. I was like, ‘I didn’t know about that,’ ” Ansari said, before reconsidering. Perhaps the suggestion that the “Twilight” star shows his face onscreen can goose the film’s box-office prospects. “Let’s start that rumor,” Ansari cracked. “People like him, right? Just say he’s in the movie. ‘That Lautner cameo is dope, man! You gotta see that movie with Taylor Lautner!’ I’m just going to say that at the MTV Movie Awards. ‘Taylor Lautner’s in “30 Minutes or Less” Good night!’ ” Will wizards, vampires or dream thieves steal the 2011 MTV Movie Awards ? Find out June 5, when the 20th annual show airs live at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Tune in at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT that night for the “America’s Best Dance Crew” finale and Movie Awards pre-show, loaded with live action from the red carpet, exclusive movie clips and a special edition of “After Hours.” To get into the magical movie mood, it’s Sneak Peek Week — five days of exclusives and interviews with the casts of “Fright Night,” “Horrible Bosses” and more. Winners of White House’s 2011 Race to the Top Commencement Challenge got surprise of their lives at graduation ceremony. By James Montgomery President Obama meets with Booker T. Washington students Cassandra and Christopher Photo: Andrew Huang / MTV News & Docs Four years ago, Cassandra Henderson didn’t want to attend Booker T. Washington High School because, as she put it, “I thought the same as everyone else: that it was a bad school with nothing but bad people in it.” Now? Well, let’s just say she’s changed her opinion. That’s because, thanks to the commitment of Principal Alisha Kiner, the faculty and the students, not only has Booker T. Washington changed public opinion (posting math scores that are 20 percent higher and a 30 percent increase in graduation tends to do that), it has earned the attention of the nation, too, as the winner of the 2011 Race to the Top Commencement Challenge , a competition sponsored by Viacom, the Get Schooled Foundation and, oh yeah, the White House. Booker T. Washington students created a video that showed not only school pride, but the resiliency its students possess in the face of overwhelming odds. Booker T. Washington HS is not only located in Memphis, one of the nation’s poorest cities, but South Memphis has the 14th-highest crime rate in the country. And earlier this year, 20 percent of the school’s students’ homes were demolished in a citywide renewal plan. Still, in spite of all that, the school’s successes speak for themselves … which not only won them the nationwide competition, but meant that President Barack Obama would be coming to town to deliver the commencement speech at Booker T. Washington’s graduation ceremony on Monday (May 16). And understandably, students like Henderson were glad they stuck it out, not to mention proud of their school’s accomplishments. “It felt great,” she beamed. “For him to come to Booker T. Washington, this school people thought was terrible; for him to come to our graduation was a great honor and it brings hope to the school, it brings more students to the school, it changes the way people think about the school. Now they know what we’re all about here at BTW.” And as was the case last year, when Michigan’s Kalamazoo Central High School won the Race to the Top Challenge, Obama arrived in Memphis and was greeted by a select group of students — a group that included Henderson — who met him as he landed in Air Force One and rode in a 30-plus vehicle motorcade to the school’s graduation ceremony … a ride they’ll never forget. “We got to the airport and we got checked, then we waited for the airplane to land, and we watched Air Force One land, and the ladder came down, and Obama came out. Oh my gosh, I didn’t even cry — most people cry when they see him — I was just like, ‘Oh, wow!’ ” Henderson laughed. “And then we rode in his motorcade, and it was like we were the bosses. We were running the streets, nobody was getting past us. We were all saying, ‘We’re rolling with Obama!’ ” Also along for the ride was graduating senior Christopher Dean, who starred in Booker T. Washington’s winning video (“I tried to introduce myself, and he said ‘Stop, I know who you are! You’re Christopher Dean, I love your video!” Dean laughed). And once they arrived at graduation, Obama spoke to both students privately — and helped Dean straighten his tie — before surprising the rest of the student body before the ceremony took place. And he had Dean help him out in the surprise. “Our principal was giving [the graduating students] this speech, ‘This is how everyone needs to be,’ like she was going to be hard on them,” Dean explained. “Then I walked in and the president was behind me, and they went wild. When I brought him into the room, there were tears.” Dean then introduced Obama at the ceremony — but not before Obama gave him a little help. “Before I gave my speech, he could tell I was nervous, so he looked at me and was like, ‘You know what? You got it. Do it for me,’ Dean said. “And I knew I couldn’t mess up. These words were going to flow like water in the Mississippi River!” And for the students at Booker T. Washington, Obama’s surprise appearance was not only an added bonus to an already thrilling day, but it served as inspiration for a city that’s been down on its luck for a while now. And, hopefully, using Booker T. Washington High as an example, it can strive to be just a little bit better from now on. “I’m proud of my school and happy for my city. It was easy to play a role [in the winning video] once you’ve got peers like I have, and friends like I have … these are great people, and they deserve to have the President come here,” Dean said. “This city needed the help that he brings. What better place to come than Memphis? I love my school, I love my friends; we deserve it.” Related Photos President Obama Delivers Graduation Speech At Memphis High School

G.O.O.D. Music MC will chat with Sway on Thursday at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com. By Alvin Blanco Big Sean Photo: Theo Wargo/ WireImage “RapFix Live” is back Thursday at 4 p.m. ET, and our special guest is G.O.O.D. Music/ Def Jam rapper Big Sean. The Detroit MC and 2010 XXL Freshmen 10 alum will be fresh from rocking South by Southwest this past weekend with Jay-Z and his G.O.O.D Music family, including mentor Kanye West. Big Sean first made a name for himself about four years ago when his song “Getcha Some” was a standout on West’s Can’t Tell Me Nothing mixtape. After catching Yeezy at a radio station and impressing him with an impromptu audition, Sean passed on a scholarship to Michigan State University to tour with West and eventually signed with the Chicago rapper’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint in 2007. Since then, Sean has released three volumes of his Finally Famous mixtapes ( The Mixtape, U Know Big Sean and BIG ) to keep his fans satiated, and he was also a regular on West’s G.O.O.D. Friday music leaks. After a few delays, Sean’s long-in-the-making debut album, Finally Famous: The Album, has an official release date of May 3. Right now, Sean can be heard on the album’s No I.D.-produced lead single “My Last,” which features R&B crooner Chris Brown. “I’ve seen and [gone] from doing shows in Detroit and getting booed to people just looking to a couple people knowing the words to doing sold-out shows with thousands and thousands of people just knowing [my songs],” Sean told MTV News from the set of the video for “My Last.” “And it [comes from] years of grinding, man.” Sean performed the song at SXSW and the Detroit spitter also has a verse on West’s soon to be released “All of the Lights” remix with Drake and Lil Wayne . Songwriter Claude Kelly says Jonas Brother is ‘willing to take chances.’ By Jocelyn Vena Joe Jonas Photo: Gustavo Caballero/ Getty Images Joe Jonas promised that on his forthcoming solo album , he’s going to be singing about his life, and that means songs about some very famous ladies might make the final cut. Songwriter Claude Kelly, who has been working with Joe in a New York studio, said that nothing is being held back. “My process when I go in with an artist is to ask them right off the bat, ‘What’s going on in your life?’ … and he hasn’t held back at all,” Kelly dished to MTV News. “He’s like, ‘I want to talk about this girl or how hot she is or we’re breaking up or we’re together.’ He’ll say it, and he’ll put his life in the song, which makes the best songs.” With names like Taylor Swift, Ashley Greene (who he very recently broke up with) and Camilla Belle floating around in Joe’s dating past, it seems that this inside scoop will make for some fun listening. “It’s gonna be good, absolutely,” Kelly added. “And that’s the fun part: to let [fans] figure it out and let them listen to it over and over and dissect those parts. So, I was blown away about how together he was on this record and how willing he was to take chances.” Kelly and Joe have worked on two songs together, and Kelly said he’s eager to see what the two of them can cook up next. “I was really impressed with his artistry,” he said. “He really knows what he wants. His vocals are really awesome, range-wise.” Joe, who already has legions of girls drooling over his hunkiness, plans to up that hot-guy ante on this record. “Obviously, he’s a sex symbol already, but he’s really gonna play into a sex-symbol role and get the girls on his side,” Kelly revealed. “He’s doing edgier, more urban music. I’ve been working with [producer] Danja. It’s edgy, urban pop where he can showcase his voice in a way people haven’t heard him before. So, he’s singing more edgy things and the music is more mature, but fun still.” Are you excited for Joe Jonas’ solo album? Tell us below! Related Artists Joe Jonas
