According to 11Alive , an unidentified Atlanta-area family living in Clayton County was awarded $31 million after suing the midwife, Life Cycle Pediatrics, Life Cycle OB/GYN for malpractice. The family’s newborn baby, DJ, was circumcised by the shaky-handed midwife who cut him a bit too much which lead to much bleeding. Somehow those who worked at the medical facility believed the child only had a small cut that would heal. Because they didn’t immediately perform surgery on the baby, all parties involved were found responsible in some form and the jury returned with a multi-million dollar verdict. DJ was born in October of 2013 and will likely need several more surgeries as he grows up. Fellas, would you trade a proper peen for $31 million?
Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth welcomed their first child , a baby boy named Gideon, back in February. But since reality television takes time, we’re just now seeing all the good baby stuff on Counting On. We’ve seen Joy-Anna talk about her plans for a home birth, and then when she went into labor, we saw her dramatic rush to the hospital once her midwife told her the baby was breach. She ended up having a c-section , a little Gideon turned out not to be so little — at birth, he weighed 10 pounds and 3 ounces. After watching all that on the show, we’re now at the point where we get to see Joy and Austin actually caring for their new baby. And as you can see in this new clip from this week’s episode, it’s turning out to be a little more difficult than they thought it would be! Joy-Anna Duggar: Look How Cute My Baby Is! As the video begins, the new parents are preparing to give their son a bath in the kitchen sink, and they say that he usually enjoys the process. Joy, who’s looking about as exhausted as you’d expect the mother of a newborn to look, also says that she’s been having to wake Gideon up during the night to feed him, because he doesn’t wake up to eat on his own. A producer tells Austin that when his own kid was born, he was “freaked out” for the first few nights, and Austin could relate to that. “The first week it was, ‘Is the baby breathing?'” he recalls. “I would just lay there and see if I could hear it, and multiple times I got out of bed, you know, making sure it was breathing.” “I think I’m finally coming to the realization that there’s always going to be something for the rest of my life, and the rest of his life.” Because, as he acknowledges, “that’s just part of my job as a dad.” When Joy has her turn to speak with producers, she admits that “Being a mom is, in a lot of ways, easier than I thought and then, in a lot of ways, harder than I thought.” She says that she knows her mom, good ol’ Michelle Duggar, “had gone through a lot with all of us kids,” but that she didn’t think having a kid of her own would be “that hard” because she’d always helped to take care of her siblings. “It’s given me a whole new appreciation for moms out there that have kids,” she adds. Next, Austin reveals that he’d never changed a diaper before his son came along, but that since Joy had a c-section and wasn’t as able to “get out of bed much,” he had to step up and take care of business. He actually says that Joy only changed about five diapers during the first two weeks, so it sounds like he really was taking over diaper duty. “Austin really stepped up,” Joy confirms, “especially since I had a c-section. I couldn’t really hardly get up at all by myself.” “He had to help me up and I mean, do all the dirty work, for me and for the baby, and just … I mean, he’s amazing.” And then, and this is the super interesting part, she adds that “I haven’t ever seen a guy give so much of himself for his wife.” It’s interesting because the Duggar family is very, very close, and Joy has seen a lot of interactions between married couples. There’s Jim Bob and Michelle, Josh and Anna, Jill and Derick, Jessa and Ben, Jinger and Jeremy, Joseph and Kendra, Josiah and Lauren … So in all of those marriages, she’s never seen a man take such good care of his wife? Also, Austin took care of his kid and his wife after his wife had a pretty major surgery, which is great, obviously, but it’s also just what a spouse should do, you know? Is she saying that the men in her family wouldn’t take care of their children if their wives weren’t able to do it? Because that kind of sounds like what she’s saying. May 2 at 9:04 p.m. at the Natural Birth Center & Women’s Wellness, Los Angeles; he weighed 8 lbs. 4.5 oz. and measured in at 21½ inches. “It was miraculously beautiful,” Sparks tells PEOPLE of the birth. “Dana caught him with my midwife, Simona, and when he handed him to me, I was absolutely overwhelmed with joy. He was and is everything we imagined.” As previously reported Sparks shocked fans when she announced in November that she was not only married but expecting. Congrats to the happy couple!

Doesn’t it seem like just yesterday that we learned Audrey and Jeremy Roloff were expecting their first child ? How are we supposed to relish reality star pregnancies when they just move so darn fast?! In reality, we’ve known about Audrey’s pregnancy for a good while now, but still, with all the things this family has been up to lately, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. Molly had her wedding earlier this month, and Jacob has been working his way back into the family spotlight. And that’s not even touching on the birth of the insanely precious Jackson … But now it looks like things are settling down a bit, and with Audrey’s due date just days away — it’s September 1st!!! — all Roloff-loving eyes are on her. So thank goodness she gave this in-depth interview all about the impending birth of her baby, right?! About the little angel’s upcoming arrival, she says “I’d say we’re very excited, but there are definitely some nerves that come along with it!” “At this point, we’re just trying to relax and bring some calm back into our life.” She says that Jeremy “has the house almost wrapped up,” so “now we’re looking forward to spending these last few days just the two of us.” Speaking of Jeremy, Audrey explains that “One of the best things about big milestones in life is being able to do them alongside your spouse.” “Jeremy has been so patient with me during this process. I really couldn’t imagine doing it without him.” To give an example of the kind of doting soon-to-be father he’s been, she says “I have full confidence that when I need something, or even just want a scoop of ice cream, that he’ll be off the couch and getting it before I finish my sentence.” “I feel loved and am thankful for a husband like Jeremy.” But that adorable little story doesn’t mean she’s been spending her time asking her husband for ice cream! She says that she hasn’t really had any cravings during her pregnancy, except that “I craved sour candy in the beginning and have consistently craved sparking drinks.” Still, it’s nice to know that Jeremy is there for her if she does decide she needs anything! He’s not the only one, either — don’t forget, for a while there, she and her sister-in-law, Tori, were pregnant at the same time. “It’s been so fun being able to experience this season of life alongside Tori,” she says. “She and Zach are always so willing to answer any question we may have, or have us over to hang with Jackson and talk.” Sharing this time together has been “great,” she says, “and our sister bond is definitely strengthening through this process.” As close as they are, though, of course they won’t be in the delivery room when Audrey has the baby. “At this point,” she reveals, “I’m planning on it only being our midwife, Jeremy and our doula. We will have family and friends outside anxiously waiting, I’m sure!” She also says that “We’ve got one name in mind that we really like, but haven’t fully committed on it yet!” “We’ll probably name her once we see her beautiful face!” We can’t wait to see her beautiful face either, and we’re sure they’ll pick a beautiful name to match! Give Ruth Iorio credit. She certainly isn’t boring Facebook followers with updates about her latest meal. Instead, the Los Angeles resident and writer took to Facebook late last month and shared intimate photos of her home birth. For what reason? Iorio tells the Huffington Post she wanted to publicize “my unique experience, whether attractive or not and just to be honest about it.” The result was a raw, VERY personal look at the miracle of life, starting with contractions around 8:15 p.m. on Christmas and updates that included how the pain was akin to a “shitty period” and how she had a lot of diarrhea. Iorio used a midwife to help with the birth and sat with her dog in bed a few hours into the labor: She wrote a lot about her “nasty” back pain and also asked: Why does no one say your asshole aches like hell, too? We told you this was awfully personal. Ruth said she was “in and out of sleep” for a few minutes here and there, as “this beast” ripped her “back apart.” Good thing the midwife was around to assist: In the end, of course, it was all worth it, as Ruth gave birth to a son named Nye. She has to be transported to a hospital and remain there for two days due to a loss of blood after her placenta failed to be delivered, but this photo says it all, doesn’t it? On Friday morning, Amy Beth Cavaretta gave birth to her second child in Boca Raton. What makes this a newsworthy event? The delivery took place on the sidewalk OUTSIDE the hospital… and it was caught on camera in every shocking, miraculous detail! Photographer Emily Robinson was on the scene to snap numerous pictures of the birth, as the midwife came out to meet Amy and ended up in the right place at the very right time. “It was the first time I ever saw a mother be wheeled INTO the hospital holding her new baby,” Robinson wrote on her blog. “It was the fastest, most incredible, beautiful, wild birth I’ve ever had the pleasure to document.” Cavaretta was especially calm and collected while her husband ran for a wheelchair, Robinson reports, as less than a minute elapsed between mother leaning against a wall in preparation and daughter being delivered.
