American Idol Goes for Brooke

Brooke White is slated to perform (along with guest-mentor Adam Lambert) on Wednesday’s American Idol results show in a duet with Miley Cyrus ex Justin Gaston. The season seven fifth-place finisher is part of the web series If I Can Dream with Gaston and recent Idol castoff Alex Lambert, and she’ll inevitably chirp something along the lines of her gentle “You’re So Vain”/”Let it Be” triumphs. My response? I could skip this second-rate Didi Benami. Sorry, but where’s the urgency? The hurt? The fiiii-yahhhhhh-herrrrrrr ? If you ask me, we need a results-night comeback from a true Idol gem. I’m talking about the best contestant in the show’s history — and resident funny valentine — Melinda Doolittle. [ EW ]

Miley Cyrus to Host Awards Show, "Blow People Away" with New Video

A few days after Demi Moore Tweeted that she’ll play the mom to Miley Cyrus’ character in the upcoming film LOL , we’ve got a couple other tidbits related to the teen queen to pass along: Miley will host the 2010 MuchMusic Video Awards, taking over for last year’s emcees, The Jonas Brothers. The event will take place later this year in Toronto and mark Miley’s first-ever hosting gig. While the music video for Cyrus’ upcoming single, “I Can’t Be Tamed,” won’t be released until May, an insider has seen snippets of it and told E! News: “Imagine ‘Party in the USA’ on steroids. It will blow people away.” What’s Miley gonna do, slither up and down a stripper that sits atop an ice cream truck? Oh. Wait. She already did that .

Tyler Perry Apologizes For Not Opening as Wide as Titans, Miley Cyrus

Tyler Perry returned to his message board Tuesday to thank his fans for making Why Did I Get Married Too? the nation’s second highest-grossing film of Easter weekend — a distant second, alas, behind Clash of the Titans . It wasn’t supposed to go that way, of course; Married once upon a time had April 2 all to itself (despite formidable-ish competition Miley Cyrus) before Warners required an extra week to release the Kraken in underwhelming 3D. That move ended Perry’s No. 1-opening streak at two films, thus prompting the mogul to passive-aggressively contemplate what could have been.

Confirmed: Adam Lambert as American Idol Mentor

In late February, it was reported that Adam Lambert would perform on American Idol . Now, we can confirm that the former runner-up won’t just sing “Whattaya Want From Me” on the April 14 results-show telecast – he’ll serve as a mentor to the finalists on the night before! No word yet on what theme the contestants will tackle during the special visit, but this much is certain: if anyone can spice up this lackluster group of singers, it’s Adam Lambert. Lambert will be the first former Idol to act as a mentor less than a year after he left the show. Many will believe he’s too inexperienced for the gig… but Miley Cyrus took on the same role a couple weeks ago and she’s younger than every current contestant except Katie Stevens and Aaron Kelly. The Last Song Opening Weekend Results: Mediocre

Despite critical bashing of The Last Song , the first non- Hannah Montana movie to feature Miley Cyrus cracked the top five at the box office this weekend. But the film only earned $16 million, not coming close to the top spot or even the number-three spot. Since it opened on Wednesday, the flick has garnered $25.6 million. See chart, below… While fake sources claim Miley thinks she should earn an Oscar for this role, and that her ” ego is out of control ,” Cyrus hasn’t actually responded publicly about her goals for the movie. Still, it’s safe to assume she and producers were hoping for a better showing. Barely making half the box office as Why Did I Get Married Too ? Really?!? Cyrus has made it clear that her future is on the big screen, as opposed to television or in the recording studio. It’s too early to say how these results will affect those plans. Ratings for American Idol have dropped this season and many viewers aren’t thrilled with the remaining contestants. THG thinks we know why: the early elimination of Alex Lambert. Just as this adorable singer was feeling comfortable on stage, fans voted him off. So, where can you catch the young crooner now? Online. Lambert has signed on for If I Can Dream , the Web reality series that follows six people – including Miley Cyrus’ ex, Justin Gaston – attempting to succeed in Hollywood. In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly , Alex discusses the show, his future and other topics. A few excerpts are below… What is the show? : They’re going to follow me while I pursue my career. They’re going to hook me up with vocal coaches and co-writers to help me co-write my songs. They’re pretty much going to do everything they can to help me take my music to the next level. There’s five other people in the house, and it’s just showing us pursuing our dreams. Why is he doing it? It’s like the perfect thing I could do right now. I went back home to Texas… I didn’t know what to do with like press, publicity, and all that stuff. So this is perfect. They’re hooking me up with the perfect people. On his popularity : I think the reason that a lot of people like me is [that I’m] something unique that people haven’t really heard on Idol before. There’s never been someone who sounded like me on Idol ever. I guess everyone was like, ”This is cool.” I think I have a unique style, but people realize I’m a beginner.

Miley is Moving Out!

So much for the rumors that Liam Hemsworth has moved in with Miley Cyrus’ parents. Turns out the actress herself won’t even be living with her folks for much longer. “I’m actually buying a place. I haven’t moved in yet. I’m still reconstructing and stuff,” Miley told People magazine this week, adding that the home is “really, really close” to her family’s Toluca Lake residence. Tish Cyrus is an interior decorater, and Miley says her and her mom agreed to make the place “really zen.” “We did all these different things to make it a place that’s so chill. Like all my couches are on the floor and I have pillows on the floor. It’s just serene – like my own kind of therapy.” That sounds nice… though Miley’s follow-up words sound simply nauseating: “My religion is love, so my door is always open for anyone who wants to come in. It’s a just a loving place.” Barf ! We’ll refrain from further commenting on that lame line in order to post a few shots of Cyrus during an afternoon out a couple days ago…

In Theaters: The Last Song

“I did not come here for some stupid summer romance,” Miley Cyrus croaks at the midway point of The Last Song , “with some stupid local boy who’s done this a thousand times before.” Sister, I’ve got at least three kinds of bad news for you. In the second Nicholas Sparks adaptation in as many months ( Dear John has the sole distinction of knocking Avatar from its first-place perch), another young lady finds herself on Georgia’s powdery beaches for the summer, balancing a shirtless suitor with hackneyed class conflicts and a passage to adulthood via untimely death. Luckily both the audiences for Sparks’s corn pone weepers and Cyrus’s Liquid Drano rasp don’t share her character’s distaste for cliché: whether they can overlook The Last Song ‘s sucking charm and chemistry voids is another story.

Liam Hemsworth Feels Like A Part of The Cyrus Clan

Though Liam Hemsworth isn’t engaged to Miley Cyrus, he still feels like he’s already a partof the Cyrus clan. Since he’s been working in the U.S., he considers the Cyruses as his second family, while his parents live in Australia. The Aussie actor started dating his “The Last Song” co-star since August. In addition he also said that the Cyrus family has been super friendly and very welcoming. While on the other hand, he finds his co-star Miley having such a big heart and that they get along really well. Liam Hemsworth is an Australian actor. In March 2010, Details magazine selected Hemsworth as one of their predictions for “The Next Generation of Hollywood’s Leading Men.” Miley Cyrus is an American pop singer, songwriter, and television and film actress. She rose to fame after starring as the title character in the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana. She released her debut album on June 2007, which began her solo music career.
