DHS Whistleblower: They’re Training Local Police to Suspend Rights

http://globalpoliticalawakening.blogspot.com/2010/12/dhs-whistleblower-theyre-tr… What happens during a national emergency? People know that the President of the United States would be the one to declare the emergency, but under what criteria? What about our Constitutional Rights during the emergency? Film maker William Lewis had the chance to sit down with former police officer turned whistle-blower Travis Maddox for an interview contained in the newly released film Enemy of the State: Camp FEMA Part 2. During the interview, Maddox shares what became his concerns about the extensive training given to the local police department by the Department of Homeland Security in case of a nuclear, chemical, or biological attack. Maddox, also a former Missouri Constitution Party candidate for office, says the group in which he participated was “trained” to force people from their homes, disarm them, load them onto buses for transport to secured quarantine areas, “and if that weren't enough, from there it gets pretty scary,” says Lewis of the interview. “DHS, parent organization for the Transportation Security Administration, could give the TSA a run for their money,” relays Lewis about the information given the viewer from Maddox's first hand experience during training. The procedures for decontamination require removal of clothing, by force, if necessary. Maddox also stated during the interview that when the order is given, no one will have a choice, basically saying that you lose your rights to your private property, your guns, even your own body. “I think your body is probably the most private property that you own,” Investigative Journalist and radio talk show host Kaye Beach said in reference to the possibility of forced treatment in this fourth film by the Lewis/Franchi team. Along with the police state-type tactics described by Maddox, Enemy of the State guests Ernest Hancock and Beach discuss the paperwork in place in Arizona and Oklahoma that could bring about forced treatment in the case of a biological attack. Massachusetts already passed laws to force treatment during the Swine Flu scare in 2009. Beach actually discusses that there may be something similar in nearly every state, as most have adopted either all or part of the Model State Emergency Health Powers Act. CBS released a 3-month study in late October 2009 showing that state-by-state, the odds of people actually testing positive for the Swine Flu were very slim. Franchi says, “That means that the National State of Emergency called by President Obama was, in fact, based on false data.” Lewis and Franchi have produced four films altogether exposing FEMA, the Department of Homeland Security and egregious legislation in an attempt to help those in the United States see the horrors awaiting We-the-People from our out-of-control government. Most Support DADT Repeal, But Tea Party Opposed

A survey released Monday finds strong support for allowing openly gay and lesbian soldiers to serve in the military, but key groups that traditionally support Republicans oppose the idea. The survey, conducted by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press and the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life, shows that 58% of adults favor allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly, whereas 27% said they opposed allowing it. A majority of both men and women, as well as both Democrats and independents also support allowing open service. Currently, gays and lesbians are permitted to serve in the military under the Don't Ask Don't Tell policy only if they do not publicly reveal their sexuality. According the poll, Republicans are divided on whether to allow open service by gays and lesbians — 40% of Republicans favor it and 44% oppose. Perhaps as important, key groups likely to have an influence on Republican policies are even more opposed to allowing open service. The Pew report notes that among those who said they “agree with the Tea Party” only 38% favor and 48% oppose allowing open servece. Similarly, only 34% of white evangelical Protestants favor and 48% oppose allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly. Lack of Republican support could prevent the Obama administration from ending the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy, especially if Congress doesn't vote on ending the policy before the end of this year's lame-duck session. Ending the policy during a lame-duck session may not be popular even if a majority do support repeal, however — a recent McClatchy Company poll by Marist College found that registered voters were divided on repealing the policy during the current Congress, with 47% saying the current Democratic Congress should repeal the policy and 48% saying they should not repeal it “so they continue to serve but not openly.” Another recent poll by NBC News and the Wall Street Journal found that 50% of adults supported allowing open service but 48% either supported continuing the current policy or not permitting service at all when explicitly offered those options. The Pew poll was conducted Nov. 4-7 among 1,255 adults, and had a 3.5% margin of error. Results among subgroups have a higher margin of error. added by: TimALoftis

Tyranny is coming to the United States- Rollback of First Amendment Rights?

An RT crew was recently arrested by US police while filming protests near the Fort Benning military base in the US state of Georgia. Correspondent Kaelyn Forde’s and her cameraman Jon Conway were detained while covering a rally protesting the School of the Americas. They were arrested after the demonstration was over and everybody, including correspondents, was leaving the area. The arrests were rough and included the use of hard plastic hand cuffs, the same type commonly used by US soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan, injuring Kaelyn Forde’s wrists. At the time of their arrests the correspondents were not told what crime they were being charged with. They were held as protestors even though they presented valid press credentials to the court. Currently out on bail after 32 hours in custody, Forde and Conway were eventually charged with partaking in an illegal protest and disobeying the orders of law enforcement officers. Davis Swanson, author of the newly released book, “War is a Lie” said this case is a disturbing trend in America, and the constitutional rights of both the press and the activists were violated by the police. He explained the rights of a free press and free assembly seem to be thrown out when it comes to coverage of the US government, military, congressional campaigns and political parties. “There is the freedom of assembly as well as the freedom of the press in our First Amendment, and it is being attacked,” Swanson said. “This is something that has been growing in recent years.” There is a growing police presence at peaceful rallies and events, explained Swanson. Police are increasing their efforts and hostility at non-violent rallies. The event was a Christian protest, made up of activists that included priests, nuns, elderly individuals and minors. “It is a growing problem that ought to concern all of us,” he said. Swanson argued there was no justification for the police to violate the people’s first amendment rights. Increasing arrests, hostility and preemptive targeting of activists is unjust. “There seems to be a crack down on people protesting even as the protests diminish in size,” he added. The US military targets the media. The uses intimidation and releases tailored stories to the media, and most US media simply bend to the power and intimidation of the government, Swanson argued. “We have a campaign of intimidation that is very very successful,” he said. “There are two disgraceful things that happened here. One,an arrest of journalists and activists, and two, most US media outlets not there, not risking arrests, complying withthe desires of those in power or successfully intimidated.” Radio host Alex Jones said the arrests are a frightening sign and an attempt by the government to further curb American freedoms. Having been arrested in the past as a member of the press, Jones said Forde’s story is all too familiar. First, the police force you to move, and then move you again, and when you comply they arrest you anyway, he explained. “This is part of an ongoing program to persecute protestors and the press,” he said. “Now they’re trying to pass legislation where the Justice Department can shut down any website they want without a judge or jury. Tyranny is coming to the United States.” “This is really US tactics that are increasingly used against journalist around the world now coming back here to the United States,” she said. “We’ve seen time and again in war zones the journalists who are independent journalists who are targeted and then it’s labeled an accident. So, some o those same tactics come back here in an effort to shut down peaceful protests which is entirely legal, this was a permitted demonstration, and yet both the demonstrators and members of the media who were covering it were arrested for no reason whatsoever except an act of intimidation. Flounders argued that the military and the media are tied to one another. Thus US media rarely covers these events. She contended that the roll of the US media is shaped by the government, both in content and in how stories are covered. Blogger David Lindorff from ThisCantBeHappening.net argued police are using peaceful protests to study and intimidate activists. added by: MotherForTruth

Latest TSA Nightmare: Man Soaked by Urine

They keep coming — horrific examples of bad behavior by the TSA during pat-downs and body scans. The lastest: A bladder cancer survivor was soaked by his own urine after a TSA agent broke the man's urostomy bag. “I tried to warn him that he would hit the bag and break the seal on my bag, but he ignored me,” said the passenger, Thomas Sawyer. “Sure enough, the seal was broken and urine started dribbling down my shirt and my leg and into my pants. They never apologized. They acted like they hadn’t seen what happened. But I know they saw it because I had a wet mark. I am totally appalled by the fact that agents that are performing these pat-downs have so little concern for people with medical conditions.” From 3-year-old girls to nursing moms and now cancer patients, the TSA is racking up some major PR disasters, and they're heartbreaking, and they're infuriating, and there needs to be some additional sensitivity training, clearly. Christian Conservative Blasts ‘Feminized’ Medal Of Honor

While a divided nation last Tuesday finally rallied around one bright shining moment of patriotic glory — President Obama's awarding of the Medal of Honor to Afghan hero Army Sgt. Salvatore Giunta — a popular right-wing Christian commentator sharply split opinions even within his own camp. He blasted the award as “feminized” because it honors Giunta for saving his comrades rather than killing the enemy. The Army's official citation details how Giunta “exposed himself to withering enemy fire” during a daring effort to engage the enemy and extract his wounded comrades from an ambush. But Bryan Fischer, a columnist for the American Family Association who has often provoked headlines and consternation with his commentaries, read the narrative as hardly the sort of thing American soldiers were once known for. President Obama awards Medal of Honor to Army Sgt. Salvatore Giunta”When we think of heroism in battle, we used the think of our boys storming the beaches of Normandy under withering fire, climbing the cliffs of Pointe du Hoc while enemy soldiers fired straight down on them, and tossing grenades into pill boxes to take out gun emplacements,” wrote Fischer, director of issue analysis for the AFA, a longtime lobby on the Christian right. “That kind of heroism has apparently become pass

White House Says Child Soldiers Are Ok, if They Fight Terrorists

“You cannot be completely happy with all these wounds—both in your body and in your mind.” —15 year-old child soldier The phenomenon of child soldiers, like genocide, slavery and torture, seems like one of those crimes that no nation could legitimately defend. Yet the Obama administration just decided to leave countless kids stranded on some of the world’s bloodiest battlegrounds. The administration stunned human rights groups last month by sidestepping a commitment to help countries curb the military exploitation of children. Josh Rogin at Foreign Policy reported that President Obama issued a presidential memorandum granting waivers from the Child Soldiers Prevention Act to four countries: Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan and Yemen. The memo instructed Secretary of State Hilary Clinton that it is in our “national interest” to continue extending military aid to those countries, despite their failure to comply with the rules Congress passed and George W. Bush signed in 2008. A thumbs-up for child soldiers from the pen of President Obama? Whitehouse spokesperson P.J. Crowley explained it was a strategic decision to ease the 2008 law. The rationale is that on balance, it’s more effective for the U.S. to keep providing military assistance that will help countries gradually evolve out of the practice of marshaling kids to the battlefield, rather than isolating them. Mr. Obama has provided us with proof once more what an incompetent, black hearted ass he is. Kill off the children by encouraging them to fight wars……”if it’s against terrorists”. This man has got to be stopped. He seems to be all about causing death. President Death and his DemocraticDeathStar raises it’s ugly head once more. There is no rational excuse for this insanity…..arm the little kids they can hide behind rocks better! http://www.infowars.com/white-house-says-child-soldiers-are-ok-if-they-fight-ter… added by: ReverandG

More US Drone Attacks Killing People in Pakistan

At least four militants have been killed in a suspected US drone strike in north-western Pakistan, officials said. The missiles are said to have struck near Miranshah, the main town in the North Waziristan tribal district. They were targeting a vehicle carrying militants, officials said. In the last three weeks, US drone strikes have killed about 100 suspected militants in Pakistan's tribal belt close to the Afghan border. The US military routinely does not confirm drone operations, but analysts say it has the only force capable of deploying such aircraft in the region. Thanks Bin Laden, you must truly be the greatest criminal mastermind in history. How was it that you could orchestrate the most complex attack in history, while living in a cave in Afghanistan? There's no way that your family's connection to Saudi banks, the Bush family, oil companies, the CIA and military contracts had anything to do with your sinister plan, therefore, I will not research 9/11 and call every one “crazy” who questions the official story. added by: rodstradamus

For Democracy to Work…

For democracy to work, complete transparency must be obtained. There must be no hiding behind patriotism, national security, and fear. These catch phrases are a vault for the secrets a government does not want the public to know of. Also due to these phrases, Americans society, while often preaching freedom of speech, in reality practices resentment, hatred, and peer pressure against those who step outside the norm (of what is politically correct). I would thus say no government needs to prohibit the freedom of speech, but only let the people prohibit (more so regulate) speech for them. It has happened so many times in our country’s past, we cannot afford to let this keep happening. For democracy to work, diplomacy must be the first and preferably the only course of action in settling disputes. Democracy cannot be offensive in nature—only defensive. Due to reasons prior, freedoms and liberties (primarily those stemming from privacy) cannot waver in the shadow of fear, and thus democracy is at a severe disadvantage when it comes to warfare—either democracy (liberty) fails, or military security fails. Just as the integrity of a family is tested through hardships, the integrity of our government is tested through decisions made during or related to warfare and economic downtimes. A democratic government thus cannot suddenly revoke civil liberties or rights in lieu of the often vague, “Clear and Present Danger.” And thus, for democracy to work, preemptive strikes cannot occur. A democratic society must lead by example, not retaliation, revenge, or fear. For democracy to work, the freedom of the press must be entirely free of regulation and censorship. The live footage of firefights during the Vietnam War had an immense impact on the outlook of war for those on the home front. The press is vastly more censored (both from corporate, and government), today. We cannot afford to have a censored press, as it holds all the power in shifting the majority of Americans’ view of any issue or event. People (straw man, I know) are gullible, and do not realize the power that manipulation has on their decisions and views. For democracy to work, capitalism must maintain complete separation and segregation from the democratic system. As soon as private funding enters the picture, our potential candidates are primarily only determined by officials promising the majority (the currently diminishing middle class) of Americans false promises, while truly only representing those providing the most money (synonymous with votes) to their campaign. Votes don't get politicians elected, advertising & funding does. So who will get prioritized? For democracy to work, lobbying must be made illegal, or vastly more restricted and regulated. For democracy to work, a form of free election must be in order. An equal amount of taxpayer money must be distributed to the two presidential candidates. Since funding is the primary means of obtaining a position, we limit ourselves on the selection of candidates. Money cannot be a prerequisite in order to obtain or maintain a political position–yet it is. Set up two temporary television channels and websites for these candidates. Debates should be daily, and written correspondence between the two candidates should be a must—the topic voted upon by the public. I say written responses because some people are better at composing their thoughts on paper rather than in speech with millions watching, that is more or less just a game of who is quicker on their feet, not who is more reasonable or knowledgeable. Nominees for the general elections should only obtain their money through local donation from the citizens of their future jurisdiction, or by some other means which would allow absolutely ANY American citizen to run and potentially win—not based on their funding and advertising flash, but by their intelligence, charisma, knowledge, ethos, and promises. In sociology, “random” is defined as everyone having an equal chance and possibility to participate (in an experiment); not every American citizen has an equal chance of running for office. I don't have a perfect answer, but it's apparent something needs changed. For democracy to work, bliss cannot be derived from ignorance. The importance of pursuing the truth and finding information for ones’ self must be emphasized. Everyone is entitled to vote, but not everyone understands for who their vote entitles. For democracy to work, accountability must be exacted out. False campaign promises are a form of false advertisement. Politicians must be held to the same justice system as we, the people, are. Anything else to add? (News seemed to be the only appropriate place to put this; my apologies if not). http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f3/Bald_eagle_landing.jpg added by: Jake_Leonard
