Chris Crafton of the U.S. Air Force was supposed to be stationed in Cuba, not at his daughter Taylor’s high school graduation in Grand Forks, N.D. Oh, how he had his family fooled this week. Chris’ family was prepared for his absence from Taylor’s big day, to the point where they even made a cardboard cutout of him to sit in the crowd in spirit. Not only did Crafton manage to end his deployment in time for her graduation, though, he declined to tell anyone in his family, not even his wife. Which made this all the more amazing: Deployed Dad Surprises Daughter at Graduation An announcement from the ceremony’s MC was the only thing signaling Chris’ arrival, just before he jogged onstage and embraced Taylor, saying: “I told you, don’t give up on your dad .” She never did, despite the demands of his job. He’s spent 1,782 days deployed, by his count, saying “This is my last deployment so I had to make it happen.” “I’ve missed a lot … you know, birthdays, Christmas, that kind of thing,” Crafton said. “So I just tried my best to get here for when she graduated.” Says his wife and Taylor’s mom Paige: “These are just things that you see on YouTube or on TV, it’s nothing that really happens to people that you know, so it’s just the best feeling in the world.” 13 Epic Reactions to Surprises Caught on Camera 1. #BringBackOurGirls: Boko Haram Preparing To Release Half Of The Kidnapped Nigerian School Girls!

Finally!!!! Boko Haram Preparing To Release Half Of The Kidnapped School Girls Via Telegraph UK reports: Boko Haram has dropped demands for the release of top commanders in talks with the Nigerian government and is prepared to start releasing up to half its kidnapped schoolgirls in coming days, sources close to the group have said. The militant Islamist group, which kidnapped more than 200 schoolgirls a month ago, is willing to conduct a “gradual” release of its hostages in return for the release of Boko Haram prisoners in Nigerian jails, it was claimed. In a significant concession, the group has abandoned demands for its top commanders to be released, seemingly aware that this would be politically impossible for the Nigerian government. The Telegraph first reported details of Boko Haram’s offer of an imminent prisoner exchange last Tuesday, when sources close to to some of the militants’ families said that a senior Islamic cleric from northern Nigeria would be appointed to mediate on its behalf with the government. The cleric has since been joined by a former aide to one of the group’s founders. Neither man has been named, possibly for their own safety. While the Nigerian government has insisted that it is not willing to enter prisoner swap negotiations, the source claimed that dialogue had already been going in secret for several days. “Contrary to the public rejection of any swap deal by the Nigerian government, there are some on-the-ground talks taking place,” the source said. “An agreement was reached about two or three days ago in principle to start releasing some prisoners.” He said that among the prisoners that the group wanted released would be wives and families of Boko Haram fighters, some of whom have been taken into custody by the Nigerian government in order to exert emotional pressure on the fighters themselves. “The group also has a list of lower-level fighters that it wants released as well, but they are not high-profile ones,” the source added. He said that in exchange, Boko Haram was willing to start a “gradual” release of around 100 of the girls – possibly beginning as early as the coming the week. “Depending on how the other side responds, the girls will be released in small groups. They will be left at a certain safe location, and the authorities will then be told as to where they can pick them up from.” The mass abduction and the military’s failure to rescue the girls and young women has roused national outrage with protests in major cities. Protesters accused President Goodluck Jonathan of being insensitive to the girl’s plight. What the hell is going on in Nigeria? This recent event will hold Nigeria and it’s corrupt politics more accountable for the future.

U.S. Marines Make Like Elsa, Sing "Let It Go"

It’s okay, parents around the world. You need not be embarrassed any longer than you know every word to “Let It Go.” In the following video, a handful of U.S. Marines belt out the lyrics to this  Adele Dazeem Idina Menzel hit from the smash movie Frozen, getting more and more into Elsa’s anthem with every line. When Elsa flicks her hair, the military men nearly jump off the sofa and erupt into the kind cheers you’d expect to hear from them while watching the Super Bowl, not an animated children’s movie. But such is the power of Frozen. Watch this delightful sing-along now: Marines Sing “Let It Go”

About Time! The US Vows Assistance To Finding Abducted Nigerian Schoolgirls

Until recently there has been relatively little media attention given to the shocking abduction of over 200 schoolgirls by terrorists in east Africa, but finally on Thursday the U.S. State Department addressed the incident, nothing that they are working with Nigeria to help look for them. According to NBCNews reports : “We have been engaged with the Nigerian government in discussions on what we might do to help support their efforts to find and free these young women,” State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf told reporters Thursday. “We will continue to have those discussions and help in any way we can.” Harf did not give specifics on what kind of help Washington might provide, but said: “We know Boko Haram is active in the area and we have worked very closely with the Nigerian government to build their capacity to fight this threat.” She added, “As of last year, for fiscal year 2012, we provided over $20 million in security assistance to Nigeria. Part of what that does is help professionalize their military, investigate terrorist attacks and enhance their forensics capabilities, and we’ve worked with law enforcement there as well to help build their capacity as well.” On April 14, militants with the Islamic fundamentalist group “Boko Haram” – which translates to “Western education is sinful – attacked the Government Girls Secondary School in the northern Nigerian town of Chibok and kidnapped more than 200 girls. Now weeks later, reports have surfaced that the terrorists are selling the girls off as child brides for as little as $12. Locals have reported to human rights groups that the girls are being moved across the border to Cameroon and Chad to be sold into domestic slavery. Mausi Segun, with Human Rights Watch in Nigeria, said that the extremely low price tag “speaks volumes about the value the insurgents have placed on the girls.” “If the rumors of marriage and trans-border movement of the girls are true the possibility of rescue as one group becomes slim,” Segun told NBC News. “The girls may however be rescued individually or in smaller groups if and when security forces dislodge Boko Haram from their numerous camps either in Nigeria or neighboring countries as has happened in the past.” First of all we think it’s great that the State Department is finally addressing this issue BUT right about now this sounds like all TALK! But here’s the real shocker… Considering the bridal price has been set so low, experts have been wondering where the money comes from to fund these terroristic expeditions. The answer may or may not shock you. AMERICAN WOMEN! Terror analyst Veryan Khan, who has studied the group in depth as executive director of TRAC, the Terrorism Research and Analysis Consortium, offered an interesting source: “Romance scams” on dating sites. “Reportedly on Match.com with U.S. women,” she told NBC News. “Plus credit card scams, again, with unsuspecting U.S. victims but generating within Nigeria.” Stop being so stupid ladies… your naivete is funding TERRORISM and costing young African girls their lives.

People Ain’t Isht: Army Vet Brutally Beaten & Called A “N****r Lover” For Working Alongside Black Soldiers

This is a damn shame. Men Beat Army Veteran For Liking Black People SMH. According to Raw Story: Police in Michigan arrested three men who are accused of viciously beating an Army veteran who objected to their racist remarks. According to the Westland Police Department, United States Army veteran Adam Wagner went to a 7-11 convenience store at 2 a.m. Saturday morning to purchase a pack of cigarettes. Once inside, he noticed three men harassing the female clerk, and he told them to stop. When he walked outside, the trio followed him. At this point, Wagner told police, they noticed the Army insignia on Wagner’s car and began to taunt him about the military. “They were saying, ‘How can you be in the military when they let black people in the military?’ They used the ‘n word’, saying [he] was an ‘n-word’ lover,” Wagner’s girlfriend told WJBK. “I took pretty, pretty good offense to that because my best friend in the army was black. He saved my life,” Wagner added. The suspects — all of whom had shaved heads — then began to assault Wagner, punching and kicking him until he was on the ground. “I got to ground and I went straight to the fetal position, covering my ear drums and as much as I could of my face,” said Wagner. He was taken to the hospital, where doctors discovered he had a broken nose, a concussion, and lacerations on his face. The suspects were apprehended late Saturday night after a tipster recognized one of them in security footage aired on a local news station. It’s terrible that this man protected and served his country, yet he still has to deal with this ignorance.
