Chris Brown Fan: Keeping Rolex ‘Didn’t Cross My Mind’

‘I was afraid it was gonna get broken,’ VMA hero Alisha Borton tells MTV News of rescuing singer’s pricey watch. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Rebecca Thomas Chris Brown tosses his Rolex into the crowd during his performance at the 2011 VMAs Photo: MTV When Chris Brown ‘s Rolex went missing during his high-flying VMA performance last month, it was a young lady in the audience who found the watch and promptly returned it to the pop star. Alisha Borton, a 24-year-old Ohio native, got tickets to the 2011 VMAs through a casting service while she was in California visiting a friend. Little did Alisha know that just by attending the show — and finding Brown’s very expensive Rollie — she would become the unofficial leader of Team Breezy. “I was actually on the stage right behind where the trampoline was,” Borton recalled to MTV News on Wednesday. “You can see me right behind the trampoline … on TV [and] you can see where he takes off his watch and throws it. I guess he did it on purpose. There’s the watch flying in the air, I just picked it up and put it on my wrist. I was afraid it was gonna get broken.” After putting on the watch for safekeeping, the dental hygiene student kept her eye out for the singer. “Whenever he came off the stage, I kind of went towards him but he didn’t see me at all,” she explained. “Then we were walking back to where we were [standing onstage]. Then there was a lady … the lady came up to me [and said], ‘I need that watch,’ and she took it.” The star’s watch is worth an estimated $22,000, and Alisha joked, “I thought it was expensive, I didn’t think it was that expensive. I had it on my wrist waiting for somebody to take it. That’s crazy,” she added about the price of the accessory. “That’s like taking a car and trying to sell it. It didn’t cross my mind that I could keep it.” For helping to make sure that watch got back in one piece, Breezy rewarded Borton with concert tickets and a special VIP meet-and-greet with him at his September 21 show in Ohio. “It’s just been so crazy. I haven’t gotten to process it yet. My friends are probably tired of me talking about it,” she laughed. Related Videos VMA 2011: Performances Related Artists Chris Brown

Are You Ready for Charlie Sheen’s Big Screen Return in Charlie Swan III?

Once upon a time, as The Playlist recalls , a bloviating crazy person named Charlie Sheen claimed he’d be starring in a sequel to Major League directed and written by Roman Coppola (for his first feature since his debut, 2001’s CQ ). Turns out Sheen spits half-truths: He won’t be returning to the cineplex in a baseball movie, but another project with Coppola called A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charlie Swan III . No official word yet on his casting, but you’ll see that Sheen deserves no other part but the unraveling title character.

Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV Shows ‘Three Different Sides’

Weezy wrote tracks for the LP before, during and after his 2010 jail bid, Young Money President Mack Maine tells MTV News. By Rob Markman Lil Wayne Photo: Clinton Gilders/ FilmMagic It’s finally here, but the road to Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV was no cakewalk. It’s been a long journey, and according to Young Money President Mack Maine, Weezy F. conceptualized C4 in three stages: pre-prison, in-prison and post-prison. “He did the ‘Blunt Blowin’ joint as soon as he got out. He actually wrote that one while he was in Rikers,” Mack Maine told MTV News of the second track on Tha Carter IV. “But he also did ‘So Special’ and he did ‘She Will’ when he came home, which the ladies are gonna love. So that was kinda like the difference.” The first mentions of the LP came nearly three years ago in September 2008 when it was said that Wayne began recording the album . Instead of following up on his Carter series right after the third installment, Weezy switched gears and dropped his We Are Young Money label compilation album in December 2009 and then his rocked-out Rebirth LP and I Am Not a Human being in 2010 while he was serving an eight-month prison bid. Wayne was released in November 2010 , and a month later, he dropped the first official C4 single, “6 Foot 7 Foot,” featuring Cory Gunz. In March came the Rick Ross-assisted street single “John.” After releasing a pair of rap-centric tracks, things got much more rhythmic with the album’s third single, “How to Love,” and “She Will” with Drake. “I don’t think he would’ve did “She Will” or “So Special” right before he went in,” Mack said of two of Tha Carter IV ‘s more female-friendly tracks. “That wasn’t where his mind was at, but all in all, you got some of Wayne before he went in, you actually got some of Wayne while he was in there, and you got some when he came out. So you got three different sides of Wayne.” Related Artists Lil Wayne Mack Maine

Hurricane Ilene, Earthquakes and Libya…..The Separation State of Humanity

Ever wonder what makes a Qaddafi?  Here’s a thought: It is exactly the same component in you and me that thinks I am better than person A and not as good as person B.  It is the deeply entrenched program and social training to be better than – and one up on – the next person, rather than simply to excel for its own sweet sake. Ever diss someone, or judge someone harshly? Ever diminish someone or have someone seek to diminish you?  Ever get seriously on your own case with “not good enough” about this or that? Underlying that behavior is the judgmental and separation program the culture has immersed you in since you were born.  It is a way of looking at the world that is NOT universal.  It is simply endemic in hierarchal societies – and unfortunately most of the earth’s human population lives in such societies. As I explain in detail in the Free Download here, the core of the mind training here is a sense of being separate from others – just like Mr. Qaddafi. What does this have to do with earthquakes and hurricanes?  Well, when you aren’t mentally and emotionally trained from birth in how to experience yourself as connected to the world and are instead trained in feeling separate from and either better or worse than others, you are automatically denied the experience of a startlingly different and healthier sense of reality.  This happens to include how you would view and relate to the natural world. We are not better or less than nature; we are in symbiotic connection with it.  And when you cannot “live” that truth, then what takes hold is the false human belief that nature does not react to the human species in a major way. Otherwise that false belief would be a thought your mind would never entertain.  In this other reality, there would be no Rick Perry’s or Sarah Palin’s denial of the human contribution to global warming (which has accelerated hurricanes) and even to earthquakes as we drain oil resources from the substrata, blow up the substrata by “fracking” for natural gas, dig deep wounds into the seabed, eliminate entire mountain ranges for mining purposes, and so forth.  Such denial would literally be unthinkable. Without judgmental and separation conditioning by the society, there would also be no wars, only collective thinking on how best to raise the quality of life for humanity without harming other species or each other. What a paradise, you say?  You bet…except that the gap to get there is immense and is the same that causes you to think person A is better or worse than person B – and causes Quaddifi to be Qaddafi , who is just a more extreme expression and example of that core separation mind training. How did that gap come about? The short version is that we innately very wise and sensitive human beings get diverted from our true selves by the nature of what we experience from childhood on. Few of us experience unconditional love, unconditional and open communications, and unfettered education in and permission for our feelings. Few of us are nurtured in a way that we retain the sense of connection with which we came in or in a manner that allows us to feel 100%  safe, fully seen and appreciated, and free to express ourselves, including our emotions. Instead, we deal with the shock of not getting this nurturing experience by developing the coping mechanisms I detailed in my earlier blogs and by developing a chattering,  judgmental mind infused in us by the society. We also develop strong negative emotions that look for outlets, such as venting on someone we judge against.  All this separates us from our real selves – and so we try to make up a “self.” Psychologists call this the creation of the “Idealized Self” – a picture of ourselves that we think will work in the world and which we form up roughly from the age of 3 up to teenage years. The deep and wrenching problem is that this false self – this “double” as they call it in  the East – is trained in competition between humans to be one up or one down – it is not trained in experiencing and creating connection. It is a purely reactive self-image that we want the world to salute – and beware if the world doesn’t. In fact, it somewhat does and at the same time most of us are busy jumping on other people’s cases and on our own and vice versa. Just think of how you behave in relationship when you think you’ve been slighted and you get a sense of how vulnerable you are when your self-image is challenged. This one-up, one-down stuff runs a huge amount of  human affairs. It accounts for much of our anxiety and all of our repression and societal rip-offs. The gangs on Wall St. who rigged the political and financial system at the expense of hundreds of millions of people around the world, love the top dog role all that money and power brings. They are completely separate from the consequences of their behavior –  basically disconnected in their mental realities. The bigger truth is that none of us get off lightly on the up-manship mentality. We clique up in HS with in and out groups. We huddle up ethnically and racially. We clique up politically and decide our team is better. We clique up over sports and as nation states – and God forbid a politician should suggest that the U.S. is not top dog, the absolute bestest and mostest and most innocent and most extraordinary do-gooding thing ever. As top dog we can justify bombing to death 2 or 3 million peasants in South Asia who don’t want us in their country, or destroying Iraq.  That disconnected mind set has no bounds.  The Nazis said the Germans were better than the Jews and, accordingly, had the right to mass murder them.  Many Jews and most Israelis say the Jews are better than the Palestinians and therefore the Jews have the right to steal Palestinian land by force of arms and brutally suppress any resistance. You get it. Just think of the groups or people you put over others – and then recognize that the very process of your doing so is and defines separation thinking. Out of that destructive way of framing the world, you get every form of poverty and oppression as the” winners” constitute themselves as separate from those below on the class and cash scale and manipulate the system to their advantage. Or maybe you just strive to be cooler than everyone else. This way of thinking has a profound effect on individual lives. It is at the root of disrupted lives, anger, depression, and dysfunctional behavior of every stripe. It creates social injustice. And it is the root  of the sense that your own life might not be working as well as you’d like.  Fact is it can’t work as well as you’d like unless you retrain yourself to live and express from your authentic self and not from your programmed, separated, Idealized Self. It is the work of Life Coaches like myself to train people to get their false selves (and their childhood training in creating disconnection) out of the way so they can experience the fullness and joy and true success of a connected life.  That leaves the only major question for any individual. Girl on TV (Justin Bieber Video) with lyrics

A video I made for Justin Bieber using the song “Girl on TV” by LFO. Lyrics: Oooh,Yeahhhh,I’m wishin’ on a fallin’ star, wonderin’ where you are….I wish… [Chorus] I wish for you on a fallin’ star, wonderin’ where you are,do I ever cross your mind,In the warm sunshine, she’s from the city of angels, like Betty Davis,James Dean, and Gable, never know what she means to me.I fell for the girl that’s on TV. [Verse 1] Met her at a counter affair, she wore a green dress, and everybody was there, felt out of place till she looked into my eyes.Shook your hand around 9 PM about never gonna be the same again.Never had to be on a movie screen to be the leading lady in all my dreams… Shooby-doo-wop,and scobby snacks, met a fly girl and i can’t relax, the only problem is she’s a movie star,Oh,my friends, they won’t believe me,if they could only see me,at the risk of sounding cheesy,i think i fell for the girl on TV. [Repeat Chorus] [Verse 2] Everybody knows her name,Wanna take a picture and their glad she came,But I just want to be there when she’s down, down(Be there when she’s down) I don’t want her autograph,I just want to call her up and make her laugh,Never had to be on a movie screen,To be the leading lady in all my dreams. Shooby doo-wap & scooby snacks, I Met a fly girl and I can’t relax The only problem is she’s a movie star, Oh,My friends they won’t believe me If they could only see me,At the risk of sounding cheezy,I think I fell for the girl on TV. Britney Spears, In 10 Minutes, Backstage At The VMAs

Meeting the princess of pop, behind the scenes at the biggest awards show of the year, in Bigger Than the Sound. By James Montgomery Britney Spears Photo: Getty Images I’m not sure how many times this has happened to you, but when you’re in the middle of recording voice-overs during the Video Music Awards and all of a sudden you get an email from the assistant of your bosses’ boss telling you that you have to interview Britney Spears in her dressing room in 10 minutes — man, that’s weird. Because it’s Britney Spears. One of the hugest pop stars on the planet, constant target of the tabloids, decided enigma. She’s not exactly forthcoming with the press (for reasons that are certainly understandable) and not particularly interested in sitting down for a chat — especially when said chat is supposed to take place in her dressing room, surrounded by her team of publicists, makeup artists and friends. Needless to say, the odds of the whole thing going down in a ball of flames are pretty high. And yet, there I was on Sunday night, winding my way through the backstage corridors of the Nokia Theatre, the VMAs literally happening all around me, on my way to meet Britney. Armed only with an email (and a rather paltry level of security clearance), I talked my way past the stone-faced security guards — who, it should be noted, didn’t seem to believe that I was about to interview Britney Spears either — found my way to her dressing-room door and awaited further instructions. As I stood there, my mind raced: What, exactly, was I going to ask her, anyway? And, perhaps more importantly, what is she really like? After a few minutes, the door swung open, one of her publicists poked his head out and told me, quite matter-of-factly, “Britney’s ready.” I entered the tiny dressing room, scanned the faces lining the walls (publicist one, publicist two, manager Larry Rudolph, makeup artist, sister Jamie Lynn) and suddenly came face to face with Britney herself, eyes wide and sparkling, head cocked slightly, big smile on her face. I noticed the tiny pair of red dice she has tattooed on her left wrist, the hem of her black dress, the way she crossed her ankles. And then, I noticed she was looking right at me. “Hi, I’m Britney,” she said. No kidding. I am happy to report that Britney Spears is a very nice person; she is funny and carries herself with a relaxed grace that belies her superstardom. We spoke about her VMA tribute — during which she spent much of the time praising others — and how, even after winning a boatload of awards, she’s still blown away each and every time her name is called. Shoot, we even laughed about Lady Gaga’s alter ego, Jo Calderone (“She’s definitely in character,” Brit laughed). In fact, the thing that struck me the most about her was her quick wit: She cracks jokes like they’re going out of style. And while I guess you could say that I learned an awful lot about Britney on Sunday night, the biggest lesson was probably this: Basically everything you think you know about her is wrong. It’s sort of a shame she doesn’t do more interviews, because, really, I think most folks would leave feeling the same way I do. Then again, I can understand why she doesn’t. It’s sort of an uphill battle at this point. Regardless, interviewing her was definitely a highlight, and not just because she’s press-shy. It most certainly ranks as my greatest VMA moment, even ahead of the pre-show I hosted live Sunday night. So the next time you get a panicked email and an invite to sit down with Britney, I highly recommend you respond immediately. It will definitely be worth your time. 5 Ways To Make Your Exit On A Bad Date

See the original post:

Say you’re on a blind date. You’re sitting at the bar, in your little black dress, hair pulled into a neat side bun with the red flower you said you’d wear peaking out from behind your left ear. You feel a heavy hand on your shoulder,  so you look down from the corner of your eye and notice the fingers on the hand on your shoulder hold 5 clunky gold rings–one for each finger, long razor sharp sabor tooth tiger dirty nails and a ridiculously heavy gold watch. But wait, there’s more. As you turn around fully you see a greasy face, perm wearing, cow hide fedora sporting, Bootsy Collins Funkadelic glasses donned, Jerome from “Martin” looking character in platform shoes and a silk wife beater. You are floored. And in your mind, the date has already ended before it even began. Okay, so maybe this isn’t your exact situation but you catch my drift, you’re on a bad date. Period. What do you do? Check out the 5 ways to kindly make your exit on that nightmare from hell: 5. Create a code red. Before even leaving to meet your date, call up one of your best girlfriends and come up with a plan. I call this plan, code red. Code red is a plan specifically devised as a safe exit out of any and every catastrophe. Here’s what you do: Call up your girl and inform her that if you call her and hang up at any point during the date, that is her cue to call you so you can walk away and act as if you absolutely have to take this call. On your way back to your table from taking “the call” amp up your urgency and politely act as if you are having a family/friend emergency and have to head out, let him know you’d love to do this again some other time and BOUNCE!-Side note: make sure your girlfriend is the last person you called so all you’ll have to do is hit send, let it ring a little and then end. 4. Suddenly get sick. Now, while this does require a tad bit of acting, it really is fairly easy to do. All you do is, excuse yourself to go to the ladies room and don’t return for about 15-20 minutes later. Return to the table with fresh beads of “sweat” on your forehead (which will really be water), when he asks if you’re okay tell him no, you’ve suddenly caught some kind of stomach virus and have to get going. Let her/him know you will call  later to reschedule after you’re feeling better and hit the road with no bridges broken. 3. Create a quick lie and exit . This is extremely simple and needs to happen the exact moment you realize he/she is not for you. The moment you realize this throw your little white lie into action. Exhibit A: “Omigosh! It’s __o’clock! I totally forgot I agreed to babysit my niece/nephew for my sister, I’m so sorry I have to go pick him up. We’ll have to do this again some other time. I’m so sorry, I’ll call you.” And that was all she wrote. Get in, get out, plan executed. 2. Turn him off. This plan involves you to get a little down and dirty, I have to warn you…you will have to do some things you most likely (hopefully) would never do in your everyday life. This plan involves you to do anything to turn him off which means if you have to gross him out, do that, if you have to lie and say you have 12 kids and 19 baby fathers (I know it doesn’t add up but again, were trying to turn him off so correct calculation isn’t exactly a factor), do that. This is a do or die situation, and it’s either kill or be killed. If he’s just that bad of a date and nothing will turn him off you may have to just come clean and tell the truth. 1. Be honest. Being honest is really simple, there’s no specific plans or codes to this one, it’s just telling the truth. Plain and simple. However, this is probably one of the most awkward ways as you possibly run the risk of being disrespect or burning a bridge or two. To be frank, there really aren’t that many kind way to get out of a bad date. It’s a rough dating game out there and at the same time you don’t want to dismiss someone that you possibly could have a business relationship in the future with. I mean who knows what the future holds, so if you absolutely can’t politely exit a bad date, at least you know you tried. Have you ever gone on a date from hell, if so how did you get out of it? 7 Ways To Glam Up Your Walk Of Shame “I Asked My Man If He Ever Had Sex With A Man & He Said ‘Not Unless I Was Tricked’” The Mis-Education Of Dating Follow me on twitter @arieinthecity and on facebook at Ariel Crockett!

‘Hunger Games’ VMA Teaser ‘Epic,’ Experts Say

Fan sites say Jennifer Lawrence ‘captured Katniss onscreen.’ By Kara Warner, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Jennifer Lawrence in “The Hunger Games” Photo: Lionsgate Ever since production began on “The Hunger Games,” fans around the world have been waiting patiently for a first look at footage of heroine Katniss Everdeen in action . MTV News was very happy to provide that first-ever teaser, which star Jennifer Lawrence introduced to the world during the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night. Given the excitement surrounding our exclusive look at footage of the big-screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ beloved dystopian bestseller, MTV News sought out three “Hunger Games” experts to get their reactions to seeing Katniss’ survival skills first-hand. “That was epic,” gushed Samus Belle of fan site Sparks Will Fly . “I’m so excited. Especially seeing Jennifer Lawrence running through the whole arena, she looked like a hunter,” Belle said. “She just captured Katniss onscreen.” Kimmy West, of Mockingjay.net agreed with Belle on Lawrence’s spot-on portrayal: “Jennifer Lawrence is just embodying Katniss,” West said. “The big trait about Katniss is that she’s animalistic when she hunts. You can totally tell that she’s been training so much for that shot,” West explained of seeing Lawrence wield a bow and fire an arrow in the clip. “She really looks like a pro.” Our experts were so delighted to see Lawrence assume pole position in the teaser, they didn’t mind not getting to see male leads Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and Gale (Liam Hemsworth) in action. Hemsworth’s voice can be heard throughout the footage, however, offering Katniss words of encouragement that echo in her mind as she’s running for her life. “I think they maybe want to wait a little bit longer on [showing] Peeta to build up the excitement even more,” said Arianna Ruiz of Down With the Capitol . “And Gale is still a very important part of Katniss’ life.” “Basically, [Gale] is saying, ‘You know how to hunt,’ ‘All they want is a good show,’ ‘Show them how good you are,’ ” West said, summarizing the voiceover. “I feel like it’s a really good message to send across for the trailer because it’s showing she’s not a career tribute,” she explained of the story’s highly trained expert contestants. “She’s not someone who wants to kill anyone; she’s just wants to live after this.” Belle speculated about when fan favorite Peeta might appear in the film’s marketing campaign: “I’m a Peeta fan, but I think they will put him somewhere during the trailers because half the ‘Hunger Games’ fandom probably wants him in there at some point. “In all fairness, throughout the first part of the games, she is thinking mostly about Gale and the advice he gave her.” West added that although she is just as excited as anyone to see Peeta, she’s happy for certain elements to remain a surprise for as long as possible. “I like to be in anticipation still; I don’t want to see everything,” she explained. “I’m excited to see Effie and Haymitch and Primm and Peeta,” West said of her favorite characters. “But I think it’s good I’m still waiting for it.” Speaking of waiting for things, West thinks director Gary Ross and Lionsgate added a special bonus for fans to pick up on at the very end of the footage. “Right as you see the ‘Add us on Facebook’ stuff, and the screen turns black, and you can hear four really high-pitched whistles, kind of like if you’re not listening hard, you might miss it,” she explained of a character’s memorable communicative methods with Katniss in the book. “That’s really awesome. I was wondering what tune they were going to use, and it sounds really perfect for what I was thinking.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Hunger Games.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .
