Johnny Weir Agrees "That’s So Gay" at Marriage Equality Fundraiser

It's very important that when you attend a political fundraiser, you gather at a place of incredible, filthy wealth. Which is how I found myself at the stunning Sowden House, a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed home in Hollywood. The event was for marriage equality, but I had only one thing on my mind: MEET JOHNNY WEIR. After about a half-hour of making conversation in a sea of botox, I looked up and saw something even more stunning than the house — a gazelle in low heels, black leggings, a blazer and a Tiffany shopping bag. Johnny. He was standing about ten feet away, surrounded by friends. His lawyer, who I knew slightly, was with him. So I snuck up next to his lawyer and begged, “Introduce me to Johnny.” He made a very nice introduction and then Johnny looked at me and said, “That's SO gay! That's SO gay!” Wow. Cloud nine. I wanted to make my time with him as efficient as possible, so I asked if he was in LA that often and could he come by Current sometime so we could do something together. “I'm in LA every so often. But you know me, girl, I'm everywhere.” I normally wouldn’t love someone calling me “girl,” but with Johnny, it felt right. So here's a pic of Johnny and me. I look like his lawyer-father in this picture. Which is fine. How can you look good next to all that beauty? If you couldn't make it — and let's face it, if everyone could come to these things they wouldn't be so special! — you can watch Johnny's delightful and smart speech on YouTube: Johnny might have been too polite to plug his show (until prompted repeatedly by his host), but I'm not! If somehow you haven't seen That's Gay: Johnny Weir, now's your chance: added by: bryan_safi

Andrew Garcia Says ‘American Idol’ Judges Were ‘Really Hard’ This Year

‘Idol’ castoff also insists he’s not boring: ‘If they hung out with me, they’ll love me.’ By Katie Byrne Andrew Garcia on “American Idol” Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Getty Images Andrew Garcia just couldn’t get past his Hollywood Week performance of … do we even need to remind you which song by a former “American Idol” judge he covered? His uninspired performance of Elvis’ “Hound Dog” was the last straw, and he was sent packing , along with Katie Stevens, during Wednesday’s results show. We caught up with the acoustic crooner on Thursday (April 15) to talk about his “Straight Up” albatross, his bromance with Lee Dewyze and much more. Q : You had a lot of hype going into the semifinals after your take on Paula Abdul’s “Straight Up.” Do you think your early fans were disappointed with the direction you went once the live shows started? A : I felt super excited coming into the top 24, and I don’t feel like I let my fans down at all. My fans are just so amazing, and they get me, and that’s all that matters. I know I didn’t let them down, and they know I didn’t let them down. Q : After weeks of bad reviews, were you surprised that the judges loved your take on Chris Brown’s “Forever” during R&B week ? A : I kind of knew it was gonna be a good night, just because I’m a guy who does current music and puts my acoustic twist on it. And I saw that song, and I was like, “Man, I gotta do something with that song. It’s current and my feel too.” I’m a kind of R&B/pop kind of guy. I put my twist on it, and I felt it 100 percent. I was just like, “You know what? I know the fans and supporters are gonna love it.” And I went out there, confident, and it showed. And [the judges] loved it. Q : Simon often got on your case for being boring, and mentor Adam Lambert even said you needed to liven things up. Why do you think your personality didn’t translate into your performances? A : Well, onstage, I was focused more on just performing. They’re talking about personality; they don’t really hang out with me, so they can’t really talk about someone’s personality if they’re not trying to hang out with me. If they hung out with me, they’ll love me. Guarantee. Q : After Michael Lynche was given a second chance , were you disappointed or relieved that the judges’ save wasn’t on the table for you this week? A : At that point, I was just happy with where I was at and how far I’d gotten. And the save, they couldn’t have did a better save. Michael Lynche, that guy is a warrior, and I love that guy. Q : Do you think this year’s judging panel was harder on the contestants than last year’s? A : I felt like it was harder, just ’cause they were being really hard this year. I don’t know why, but they’re being really, really, really hard on the judging. Q : Ryan Seacrest was especially wacky this week, even slow dancing in the aisle during Tim Urban’s performance. What were you thinking when you saw his behavior? A : I was like, “Ryan has lost his mind.” But I love the guy. He works a lot, so he has the right to get a little coffee in him now and then. Q : What brought you and Lee together as friends? A : We find ourselves doing the same thing at the same time, and it’s just really weird. Like, “What the heck?” We look at each other, and we’re like, “Dude, we’re meant to be!” Q : Will you be rooting for Lee at future shows? A : I will for sure go to the shows and cheer him on. That’s my brother for life. Were you sad to see Andrew go? Are you excited to hear his post-“Idol” music? Let us know in the comments below! Peter Steele Died From Cardiac Arrest – Quotes From The Late Steele

Type O Negative vocalist Peter Steele is rumored to have died in heart attack early Wednesday.  This rumor was confirmed by fellow bandmate Kenny Hickey. Here are some quotes by the late Steele: * As far as humor goes, I’ve always been a very insecure person and I’ve always wanted to be liked. * Finding fresh song topics can sometimes be quite difficult. * I also like to eat very much, so I like all different types of foods. * I don’t know what to say to that, but I have to agree with Johnny that, yeah, we do touch upon things that most men would rather not admit: That we feel pain, we cry, get sad and sometimes don’t deal well with disappointment. * I don’t really like to play live. I don’t like to be on stage. I feel very self-conscious. * I drink for the effect, because it loosens up the tongue a little bit. * I feel that I’ve grown up a little bit and I’m actually ready to settle down. * I find that different types of music are good for certain activities. * I guess I’ve learned that there’s really no such thing as a bad label, there is only a bad contract. * I like to put on hardcore when I have to clean my apartment, which I hate to do, but it’s motivational. I like old heavy metal when I’m outside working on my car. Music has definite functions for me. * I stay way from that area, and there’s only so many songs you can write about love, sex and death. * I think aerobics are great, of course, but it just bores me out of my mind. * I think anyone who has an opinion, and voices it, will offend someone. * I think I’ve changed a lot as a person. * I used to try to run five miles every other day, which I worked up to and I was doing it, but I was subjected to my own thoughts for forty minutes without any sensory input, and I couldn’t stand what I thought. * I want to stay away from politics, or else I’ll probably end up putting my size fifteen foot into my mouth. * I’m a big fan of the effects of alcohol. * I’ve always been very image prone, along the lines of bands like Black Sabbath and even Devo. * I’ve been told by people that it’s okay to cry but, you know what, it’s been used against me. * If I wasn’t bound to Brooklyn, due to my own personal reasons like taking care of my mother and the fact that this is where the band is based, I would probably move to Iceland. * If they weren’t laughing with me, okay; if they want to laugh at me it’s better than nothing. * Instead of slashing my wrists, I just write a bunch of really crummy songs. * It seems to be that southern Europeans are just more intimate socially, whereas I like a lot of personal space – like, a mile from the nearest person is fine for me. * It’s bad poetry executed by people that can’t sing. That’s my definition of Rap. * Most bands don’t even last fourteen months let alone fourteen years. * One of the things I’ve always personally tried to stress with this band was to have some kind of visual aspect and to be consistent with it – like, not to change. * So I don’t cry anymore, I just beat people up. It’s a lot more fun. * So, I simply switched over to wine because it was not carbonated. * Sometimes, I write ’60s or ’80s style pop songs. * Technically, at this point we’re no longer with the label; we’ve fulfilled our contract. * There’s a lot of things that go on when you’re on tour that cannot be controlled. I’m not even talking about myself, but of course there’s sexual activity and drugs, fighting and language; it is certainly not a place to raise a family. * Well, darkness with humor… I’m not an extremely suicidal or sad person. * Yes, there are times when I get extremely depressed and how I sublimate those feelings is through music. Erykah Badu Says It’s ‘Wonderful’ Rappers Are Remixing ‘Window Seat’

‘I love Ricky’s verse,’ the singer says of Rick Ross’ contribution. By Shaheem Reid Erykah Badu in her video for “Window Seat” Photo: Universal Motown Erykah Badu is a fan of the Bawse &#*212; she gives kudos to Rick Ross for his freestyle verse over her popular “Window Seat” record for the remix. “I think it’s wonderful; if they feel it, that’s when its real,” Badu told Mixtape Daily about rappers jumping on her song. She then singled out Ross. “I love Ricky’s verse,” she added. “Sh– kinda foul while I’m sitting in the isle,” Ross raps on the track. “People taking pictures of me like I’m going outta style/ Anyhow I began to yawn, the human bong/ Kick my Clarks off and recline just like a don/ Hat low, eyes closed, got my hoodie on/ As we take off I think back about all my n—as gone/ From my window seat, the view I got, I think I see tomorrow/ Always been an owner of the watch you wanna borrow/ Always with the woman that you following on Twitter/ First class sold out, but I’m still a n—-a!” Ross spoke to MTV News about what attracted him to the soulful song. “I been getting a lot of questions and a lot of feedback off of the Erykah Badu ‘Window Seat’ record. People wanna know what inspired me to get on the record. It surprised them I was on the record. But to me, the record is just a beautiful song. Erykah Badu is continuing her legacy of making melodic music. That’s the kind of music I’m naturally attracted to. I heard the beat, I heard the flow, of course I saw the video — it’s ingenious. It’s magnanimous. It’s magnificent. I love the video. It’s what art is really about, what hip-hop is really about — taking something that’s really nothing and making it invaluable. She just took a stroll through the park and made it valuable. That’s what hip-hop is. I feel that’s what music is. I jumped on the remix and it felt good. I just put one in the air. Ya boy did what he did. … Ain’t nothing change. It’s the boss Ricky Ross.” Ross is still working on his new album Teflon Don and has announced Jay-Z, Diddy and Kanye West as collaborators. Ne-Yo appears on the first single “Super High” and F. Gary Gray is slated to direct the video . Erykah Badu’s New Amerykah, Part Two: Return of the Ankh is in stores now. Exclusive: Rickey Minor Talks Leaving ‘American Idol’ For ‘Tonight Show’

‘ ‘The Tonight Show’ is the perfect platform for me,’ he tells MTV News after nine-year stint as ‘Idol’ bandleader. By Gil Kaufman Rickey Minor Photo: Maury Phillips/ WireImage Rickey Minor has graced a lot of major stages in his decades-long career as a bandleader and music director, but his upcoming move to “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” has the veteran arranger very excited. ” ‘The Tonight Show’ is the perfect platform for me,” Minor told MTV News on Wednesday (April 14), the day after news emerged that he would be leaving “Idol” after six seasons to replace Kevin Eubanks as Jay Leno’s latest musical foil on the venerable late-night talker. Minor, who in addition to running the “Idol” band for six years has been the musical director for the Super Bowl, Grammys and People’s Choice Awards, as well as for Beyonc

Eminem Announces New Album Recovery For June 22

‘The music on Recovery came out very different from Relapse, and I think it deserves its own title,’ Em says. By Shaheem Reid Eminem Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage When Eminem says “soon,” he means it. On Wednesday morning (April 14), Em tweeted that there was no Relapse 2 , and he promised last month that big news was coming soon. Well, the MC has already announced a new album and release date. “I had originally planned for Relapse 2 to come out last year,” Eminem said in a statement. “But as I kept recording and working with new producers, the idea of a sequel to Relapse started to make less and less sense to me, and I wanted to make a completely new album. The music on Recovery came out very different from Relapse, and I think it deserves its own title.” The new album — which features production from DJ Khalil, Just Blaze, Jim Jonsin and Boi-1da, among others — will drop June 22. Last week, Blaze told MTV News that he’d been working on new songs for Eminem, saying of the album: “It’s getting there, but we still got a lot of work.” Though he was sworn to secrecy, Blaze did reveal that “a lot of good music is being made. … He’s really back spitting. The wordplay is crazy, the metaphors are crazy. He’s really back on his game. He had his ups, he had his downs, he’s back way, way, way up. This is definitely going to be up there with the best of his albums, for sure, for sure. The fact that he’s branched out working with a lot of different people now, collaborating in a lot of different ways that he never has before, I think he’s going to surprise a lot of people.” Last year, Em told fans Relapse 2 was “extremely close to being finished. It just depends on how many songs I wanna put on it.” The project was pushed back until this year, and he took to Twitter on Wednesday to tell the world he had changed his mind. “There is no Relapse 2, ” he wrote. It was the first tweet from the rapper since March 29, when he promised, “Don’t worry. Some big news is coming. Soon.” Are you excited for Em’s Recovery ? Let us know in the comments below! Marisa Miller Plays In A Baby Pool

Someone out there must be reading my mind because lately I’ve been dreaming about supermodel Marisa Miller , a bikini and a baby pool. Today must be my lucky day. Alright so she’s only wearing the bikini bottoms, but that’s close enough for me. In my dream she’s got a couple of Victoria’s Secret friends with her, the baby pool is filled with orange soda and they keep trying on each others bikinis. I guess that will have to wait for another time. Enjoy.

Paris Hilton and Doug Reinhardt: It’s Possibly Over!

Did Paris Hilton and Doug Reinhardt split up for the second time? Or the third time, or whatever the heck it would be at this point? Very possibly! Despite being the frequent source of engagement rumors , Doug was recently kicked to the curb by Paris, according to a source cited by E! News. “Obviously she broke up with him,” says the source . Obviously . Still, Paris herself was asked about the possible split earlier in the week and responded “all is good.” But there’s more here than meets the eye. Has Paris kicked Doug to the curb? The maybe-split comes after weeks of Hilton and Reinhardt being apart. Paris spent Easter with her family in Palm Springs, while Reinhardt was in Aspen with his. Over the weekend, Paris was living it up and looking single in Las Vegas where she partied at Wet Republic and Tao, while Doug was once again MIA. What gives? Sources say that Doug, the brother of Casey Reinhardt , had thought about visiting Hilton in Sin City to talk things out. So does that mean it’s over? It’s unclear. “He was in Aspen with his dad this weekend and was considering stopping by Vegas on the drive back, but changed his mind,” says our source. “I’m pretty sure that’s why he went to Aspen… to hide out and try to get over her.” The plot thickens. Just wait until both of them get back to L.A. today. Odds on the police being called to Paris’ house by the end of April? Slightly worse than them getting called to the home of Lindsay Lohan , but still, pretty good odds.
