Erykah Badu ‘Wanted To Get Arrested’ Over Naked ‘Window Seat’ Video, Director Says

Coodie reveals that he and co-director Chike collected bail money in advance just in case. By Gil Kaufman, with additional reporting by Shaheem Reid Erykah Badu in her video for “Window Seat” Photo: Universal Motown Erykah Badu knew that her salacious “Window Seat” video shoot was a risky proposition, but she was so committed to the concept that she was willing to give up her freedom to pull it off. Erykah Badu’s ‘Window Seat’: Shot By Shot According to Chike and Coodie, the directors of the clip — in which Badu slowly strips off her clothes while walking through famed Dealey Plaza in her native Dallas — the singer was aware of the potential consequences but wanted to roll the dice anyway. A Dallas Police Department spokesperson told MTV News on Tuesday that Badu could have been arrested and jailed for up to a year if an officer had caught her in the act. Chike says that nearly happened. “We already had planned for Coodie to make a certain move with the camera so that she would have the time to get up and do what she had to do to come for the rebirth for the last scene,” he said of the jump-and-shoot guerilla shoot that was carried out without any official permits or clearances. “But then after that it was more like, ‘Where’s the van?’ The van wasn’t where we all thought it was supposed to be.” But luckily, moments later it screeched up across the street and everyone turned around and made a run for it. “Rushed in the van and she broke,” said Chike of Badu’s escape, which came as a few shocked bystanders made some noise about calling the cops. (Police told MTV News that they have no record of any 911 calls about the incident.) “It was nothing but two or three people, it was nothing that crazy at all,” added Coodie of the protests. “There was that one lady, though, that was really just crazy with her missing teeth. She was like, ‘That was so offensive!’ I was like, ‘Your teeth are offensive!’ I was bugging because Erykah was mad at me for that.” Because the filming took place in a crowded public plaza near a federal building — not to mention that it ends with Badu re-enacting the 1963 assassination of President Kennedy on the same spot where he was gunned down — Chike said everyone involved was on the lookout for any police cars or the sounds of sirens. “I just remember hearing a siren, or every minute looking up and seeing some kind of sheriff’s car or something,” he said. “So I was like, ‘This is gonna be interesting.’ ” Though no cops rolled up on them, Chike said Badu was prepared if the authorities nabbed her. “Her contingency plan was get arrested,” he said. “She was big on doing it.” Coodie revealed that the directors had already collected bail money just in case. “I think she really wanted to get arrested, even make a bigger message,” he said. “There was definitely no fear as far as that was concerned, as far as she was [intent] on getting her message across, which I can respect,” Chike added. “I feel like all people who have done great things in the past — when they set their mind to it there was already no going back. And they were already ready to deal with the ramifications of … their actions. She was already prepared to deal with whatever consequences because she knew she believed in what she was doing.” Related Photos The Evolution Of: Erykah Badu Erykah Badu’s ‘Window Seat’ Bystanders Erykah Badu’s ‘Window Seat’: Shot By Shot Related Artists Erykah Badu

Mila Kunis Shows Off Her Tits Culkin of the Day

I don’t know where these Mila Kunis pictures are from, but I do know that I have a thing for Mila Kunis. She is the reason I made it through a Russell Brand movie. She is the reason I used to get hard watching Family Guy. She is the reason I watched That 70s Show and almost liked it. There’s just something mystical about Mila Kunis and that thing is not the fact that she is engaged to Michael Jackson’s emotionally distraught, confused, drugged up ex-child star…. Macaulay Culkin managing to convince her into his bedroom despite his probably AIDS dick, is the one thing that is wrong with her, I mean sure, their relationship means she’s loyal and not too picky, doesn’t mind people who don’t shower and that she has no issue running after her childhood dreams and that she gets what she sets her mind to, even if that thing isn’t reaching for the stars, but I just hope she just feel obligated to be there for Macaulay Culkin since no one else is, in some friendship and maternal way, since he’s gay. The whole thing is unfortunate, but her showing off her tits for some male attention that she’s not getting at home is really one of the best things in Hollywood according to me, which isn’t saying much, but it’s saying something.

Eazy-E, N.W.A ‘Helped Me Understand I Had A Chance,’ Plies Says

Florida native pays tribute to Eazy on the 15th anniversary of N.W.A. founder’s death. By Shaheem Reid Plies and Big Gates Photo: MTV News Plies has long been called a rebel of the music industry, to the extent that some say he embodies the same radical spirit as the members of N.W.A. On Friday (March 26), the 15th anniversary of the death of N.W.A founder Eric “Eazy-E” Wright , Plies and his brother Big Gates reflected on Eazy’s impact. During a visit to MTV News’ offices on Friday, Plies said Eazy and N.W.A.’s music resonates no matter where you’re from. “Being Florida based, where we’ve resided all our life, I look at Florida as the gutter landmark,” Plies said. “I feel that it don’t work in Florida if it ain’t gutta. To see a West Coast group and West Coast artist being embraced in Florida, and on a national level, for me, it’s simple. Coming from the conditions we come from and having anybody represent what you represent and see them win on a national level, it allowed me to understand that I had a chance in music if it was what I chose to do. “I had a chance to accomplish that and do it from a principle-driven way,” he continued. “[Gates and I] say that all the time as brothers and as a company, our principles are non-negotiable. It’s a lot of things we stand for that the business don’t understand right now. We agree that it’s more personal in this business than it is business. At the end of the day, you gotta stand for what you’re trying to represent and reflect. I feel Eazy-E and N.W.A did a helluva job in doing that. I don’t feel like we’re carrying the torch, I feel like we’re trying to stand behind what we’re trying to stand behind. If that’s a way we can be come successful in selling records, cool. If it ain’t, we can look at each other and know we came into the game with our principles and we’re gonna leave the game with our principles.” “I was just listening to a Eazy-E record,” Gates said with a grin. “They started, really, what we’re doing. We looked at them. Even now, we look at them as a influence of what we do. N.W.A speaks for itself. I’m sure you know what it means: N—as With Attitude. You listen to my brother’s music, you see what we representing. I just got out of prison. It’s kinda simple, what we stand for: That’s really what Easy-E brought to the table. He told America, ‘I can say what I wanna say. Speak my mind. Freedom of speech. Regardless of how you feel, what you think I should say, what you think I should wear, I’mma do me.’ I came from a different struggle versus [people in] corporate America. Eazy spoke for me, so I try to make sure me and my brother speak for the people from where we came from.” Check out what the Game and other West Coast rappers had to say about Eazy-E on the 15th anniversary of his death. Eazy-E Remembered By The Game, Nipsey Hussle, Scoop DeVille

‘He is the original blueprint for West Coast gangsta rap,’ Jay Rock says on the 15th anniversary of Eazy’s death. By Shaheem Reid Eazy E Photo: Ruthless Records Friday (March 26) marks the 15th anniversary of Eric “Eazy-E” Wright ‘s death from AIDS complications. The N.W.A founder was a musical pioneer — not just for bringing gangsta rap to the mainstream, but because of how he revolutionized the business side of the game as well. He mastered self-promotion and pushed records independently with little-to-no airplay. Eazy’s legacy speaks for itself, and his impact still resonates. Some of the younger L.A. acts wrote in to MTV News to talk about Eazy’s influence. “Eazy-E was the pioneer and ambassador of L.A.’s street culture in hip-hop,” Nipsey Hussle said. “He embodied the mind state and attitude of a young man coming of age in urban Los Angeles.” “Eazy-E started this gangsta sh–,” Jay Rock proclaimed. “He took it to a whole new level. If it wasn’t for him, it wouldn’t be no Ice Cube, no Snoop, no Game or no Jay Rock. He is the original blueprint for West Coast gangsta rap.” The Game’s love for Eazy-E is well-documented. The Compton, California, native has a picture of Eazy and N.W.A tattooed on his body. Game’s message about Eazy was short and sweet: “Replacing Eazy is Eazy-er said than done.” Earlier this week, producer Scoop DeVille sat in an LA studio with his father, Kid Frost, and remembered talking to Eazy. “Eazy would call the house and say, ‘Tell your pop Eric called,’ ” Scoop recalled. Frost signed to Ruthless Records in the mid-1990s, and shortly before Wright died, Kid was supposed to head the newly started Latin division of the label. “I can say that dude had a big heart and love for the whole movement of the West Coast sound of gangsta rap,” Frost declared. “He definitely was the godfather of gangsta rap. There’s still not a lot of records I hear to this day that can hold water to what he was doing with Dr. Dre, like Straight Outta Compton. I’ll always be part of the Ruthless family. I’ll always be the first Mexican that got signed to Ruthless Records.” “Eazy was a real dude,” Scoop added. “He was a businessman and a street dude. He has everyone’s respect to this day.” How has Eazy-E’s music impacted your life? Share your memories the comments section below. Related Photos N.W.A. Cube Guys Hype Up WMC 2010 Crowd With ‘Scarface’ Sample, Coolio Remix

Their song ‘Scarcube,’ which samples Al Pacino lines from the movie, is a contender for this year’s WMC anthem. By Adam Stewart The Cube Guys Photo: MTV News The Cube Guys embrace an unmistakable sound that incorporates an eclectic blend of tribal house, electro house, fidget house and many other subgrenes that has consistently kept fans on their toes. The Italian duo first broke into the electronic-music scene back at the Winter Music Conference in 2005 with their club smash “Electro” and have been going strong ever since. WMC has been a perennial playground for the pair, who spent some time with MTV News after their set this year at Gansevoort Beach at the Stereo Recordings Playa party along with Chus and Ceballos . The Cube Guys, made up of Roberto Biffi and Luca Provera, dropped a monster anthem to start their set in front of an enthusiastic, bikini-clad crowd. The song, called “Scarcube,” is a strong contender for the WMC track of 2010 . The deeply sinister electro house track samples iconic Al Pacino lines from the film “Scarface.” “That’s a new track from us. It’s crazy, because we cut up all the Pacino voices, and we then built all of the tracks on top of it,” Provera recalled. “Everywhere we spin it, the people go crazy. They ask, ‘What is that? What is that? When is it coming out?’ We’re so surprised about it, but we love it, and we hope that it will have a good future. ‘Scarface’ is the Miami movie, so why not?” The fans packed 20 deep in front of the stage and fully embraced what is sure to become a Miami anthem. They then seamlessly segued into another new release, a huge remix of Coolio’s “Fantastic Voyage,” giving new life to the song that went double-platinum back in 1994 by putting their signature spin on the classic vocal and incorporating electronic horns and a driving beat. “We officially landed the remix of Coolio with Universal Records, so we’re really happy about it!” Provera said. Jessica Burciaga is a Shitty Model Who Does the “Hand Bra” of the Day

This nobody is some Mexican American low level “model” who was in Playboy last year and has been in a bunch of garbage magazines keeping her nice and obscure…because there are hundreds of girls in the world who are just a cheesy and as hot and as willing to get half naked as this bitch, making her nothing special…. I don’t know where these girls are from, or what makes them think they have a right to put out these kinds of pictures, but I blame Myspace cuz they all seem to seriously love getting in front of the camera and the only reason people notice is because we’re all fucking perverts… I am not posting these pictures I am her fan or think she’s anything special, but because one of her fans emailed them to me and I got angry, not because there was a half naked girl who looks like every other cheesy half naked girl in shitty cheap glamor shot, but because she was doing the low level, bottom-feeding model who doesn’t really want to go nude, but wants to be as racy as possible to get noticed move…and that’s covering her tits with her hands…until she realizes the only way to make it is to let dudes cum on her face on camera… It’s called the “hand bra”, there’s actually a fucking term for this stupidity and these fake models refer to it as a “Hand bra” and all I see is a cocktease whore who thinks she is better than what she is, who probably wears Ed Hardy and who should be getting paid to take cock, or give lap dances, but somehow her ego got in the way….and she’s just getting more attention than she fucking deserves…with her stupid fucking “hand bra”…. I hate this shit…just show us your fucking tits…it’s not like you’re holding out on anything that fucking great you cunt….

Kesha and Her Shitty Body in a Bathing Suit of the Day

I hate giving this kind of trash any fucking attention. Really. I like to pretend Lady Gaga and all her followers or low-grade copycats don’t actually exist, since part of me hates that they are on TV, making money, and have a fan base, but all I needed was her in a shitty one-piece, showing off her shitty body, with a shitty Pixies tank top covering her shitty tits, to make me change my mind. I’m such a slut, way too fucking easy….seriously, I made an effort to ignore this joke of a human cuz I hate knowing she has a distorted perception of what’s actually going on in her career and she goes to bed thinking she’s amazing, that she’s made it, cuz that’s what the media, her bank account, her number one song are telling her, instead of her thinking the truth which is that she’s a fucking joke that the media has made big for some fucking reason I will never understand…but I believe the truth will come out eventually…the free ride can’t last forever….at least I hope it doesn’t….because she’s fucking ugly…. American Idol: Miles to Go Before We Sleep [Recaps]

On last night’s fitful episode, we saw the dreams of teenagers laid out bare and glorious in front of us. And we saw the dreams of a contestant hoisted onto Ryan Seacrest’s petard and bled to completion. As with every major event in life, last night’s show began with a group number. The group numbers are always grim and embarrassing, but aren’t they especially awful this year? I mean because the contestants are so awful. There’s nothing exciting or silly-fun about watching these idiots shuffle and lurch across the stage doing jerky, soap-bubble choreography. It’s just like… it’s sort of aggressive, as if the show knows how bad it is. “Ha ha, and you’re still watching. So here, you pathetic glutton, eat up this slop, c’mon shovel it in, look look, Tim Urban’s snapping his fingers and pretending to sing, that’s it fatty, eat through the tears, choke it down. Oh here’s Andrew Garcia doing a bee-bop routine with a big dumb grin on his face, cram it down that gullet of yours, you helpless slob.” And you’re just sitting on the couch, weeping and weeping, bits tumbling and dribbling out of your mouth. You are a filthy, pathetic creature. But you cannot stop. You have pulled over to the side of the road of life and you are eating that American Idol super value meal and you are crying. Yours is a terrible shame. Life is a terrible shame. And I’m pretty sure that’s not how people are supposed to feel watching American Idol group numbers. But oh well. We can talk for a second about Miley Stinkvirus. You know what she did? You know what she’s actively trying to do? She is trying to rebrand herself, from Teen Sensation to Serious Artist. But Miley was born in a rain barrel, just like her daddy, and really buys into those ads that called Ruby Tuesdays “simple, fresh American dining.” American dining . Sounds classy! To that end, Miley and Miley’s people (read: Dad) believe certain things about what it means to be a Serious Artist that are just hilariously off. You know, because you always see Fiona Apple sitting at a white piano in a white gown while fog rolls around her ankles. So that’s what Miley did and after a spell she got up from the beautiful piano playing and really got into the emotion of the song, doing some awkward head banging and just trying to seem wild and free and just so musical . To call it an epic failure would be to call My Lai an “oopsy.” After Miley got in her very classy, understated half-mile long platinum Hummer limo and sped off and away forever, it was time for Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato to sing. See the two of them starred together in a Disney movie called Camp Rock , and there are maybe dating rumors, but they don’t really mean anything because Joe Jonas is gayer than Olivia Newton-John’s bed linens. They are just a showbiz pair, a platonic Tracy & Hepburn of the New Age. I don’t know what was going on — if it was a strange theme or something — but Joe & Demi also sang a serious song. It was basically the same thing as Miley’s tune, just with less fog and piano and more of Demi Lovato’s singing hand. You know the singing hand. The non-mic-holding hand that’s just all “uhhhuhhhooohhuuh…. this is what singing looks liiiiike…” It was very sad, though I will admit that Demi really didn’t sound bad at all. Joe Jonas is a whispery wimble of a wimp and didn’t leave much of an impact. I mean, after all, he’s more accustomed to people impacting him. (HAM & EGGS!) And that was that. Then Ryan dimmed the lights and began to unbutton Tim Urban’s shirt and a gasp went through the audience and then the Stage Manager came on the loudspeaker and was all “Uh, Ryan. Ryan, no. It’s not that part of the show. That’s your little aftershow thing. We’re still live.” Ryan smiled, embarrassed. He slowly backed away from Tim. He cleared his throat. “Your, uh, bott— ahem — bottom three, ladies and gentlemen.” Then the Jonas Brothers walked out and the Stage Manager said “Goddamnit, no not that bottom three, the bottom three in the competition. Jesus Christ. It’s like Nathan Lane exploded in here.” After Ryan did a hold-for-editing for a second, he began again and announced the bottom three. They were: Joe, Nick, & Kevin Jonas Paige Miles Katie Stevens (yayyyy!) Tim Urban (gasssssp) I was of the mind that Timmy Tim-Tim Urbane would soar back up toward the top after last week’s bottom three scare, but I guess not. I guess I have overestimated the throbbing thumb-votes of teen texting America. I guess teen girls are really more into the whole Michael Lynche look these days. The girls are really going apeballs over your cousin, Phil Dweezy. (Your Aunt Karen tells me he’s talking about moving to California. Can you believe that? Little Philly, in California ? I told Karen, I said ‘Keeks, I think you should support him in whatever he wants to do, you know he’s getting to the age where he ought to be on his own, but California, that’s awful far.’ And I said what about Philadelphia, that’s pretty close and they got lots of music there, plenty of rock groups he could join. But I don’t know if she’ll listen.) Anyway, it seems that Tim Urban’s sexy days are numbered on this show, which is fine. It really is. We’ll just have to gawp at… shudder … Casey… Johnso… NO I CAN’T DO IT. I can’t do it. We will gawp at no one. No more gawping when Tim Oiban goes home. Which will be soon. The Katie Stevens bottoming was punishment for her being awful and boring, I aver. I hope she gets the boot and is put in the robot junkyard, because her model is flawed. But of course in the end it was Paige who was given her walking papers. Good, that’s fine, that’s fair. She sounded good enough in her last hurrah song, though it didn’t matter. Simon had bluntly told her before she sang that no matter how she sounded, they were not going to waste their precious, precious save on her. Oohhh The Save. What an exciting new element it brings to the show! Not! Schwing! I’m gonna hurl! I don’t even own a gun! I don’t think I have much else to say about this. The Miley fog is rolling in across the moors and I’ve got to sit down and play my white piano, here in my gown. I’ll weep and weep and weep, playing the Idol theme tune over and over again until it is next week and I can eat my next delicious meal. Can’t wait to see you there.

Lady Gaga Has Made Dance Music Mainstream, DJ Tommie Sunshine Says

At WMC 2010, the house DJ says success of Gaga and Black Eyed Peas is inspiring new artists. By Akshay Bhansali, with additional reporting by Adam Stewart Lady Gaga Photo: Steve Thorne/ Redferns MIAMI — There is something special in the air in South Beach. You’d expect the mood to be euphoric on day three of the Winter Music Conference, the annual dance music conclave that brings together fans, artists and event promoters from around the world. But this year, people seem to be in an even more delighted mood than usual. House DJ and rock-remix impresario Tommie Sunshine, who’s been attending WMC for the past 14 years, attributes the extra happiness to the increasing relevance of dance music today. “Recently, David Guetta played Pacha in New York on a Wednesday night,” Sunshine told MTV News when we caught up with him poolside on Wednesday at the Raleigh Hotel. “And he and Will.I.Am went two for two all night long. When they played one of the songs Will sang, he sang it live. Three in the morning, Fergie shows up, starts singing all the Black Eyed Peas stuff live. Then Estelle shows, and they do ‘One Love’ together. I mean it was a rock concert in Pacha in New York City. People going absolutely mental on a Wednesday night till 5 o’clock in the morning. It was incredible.” Indeed, the success of the Black Eyed Peas and recent Billboard magazine cover boy David Guetta is the talk of WMC 2010. Virtually, every artist MTV News interviewed on Wednesday spoke reverently of what they have done for making dance music popular. But Brooklyn-based Sunshine wants to remind folks that credit is also due to Lady Gaga . “Anybody that is in South Beach right now that discredits Lady Gaga for what she has done for electronic music is out of their mind,” Sunshine said. “I mean [Gaga producer] Red One and Space Cowboy and her, in collaboration, have done so much for making dance music mainstream. I’m sorry, but there wouldn’t be a David Guetta top 10 hit … there wouldn’t be this Black Eyed Peas record, if it wasn’t for The Fame. The influence of that record is epic, and we are hearing talking about all of this because of that.” And for Sunshine, the blockbuster scale of Gaga’s music videos is also helping the scene regain the prominence it held a few decades ago. “You see the video for ‘Telephone,’ and you’re like, ‘This is real stuff here,’ ” he marveled. “I mean, this is mega serious money being spent to put together amazing videos, using real film directors, for a dance record. That’s a dance track! That is the ‘Thriller’ of our time, you know. And there is all this hubbub about it. I haven’t seen that kind of [excitement] over a video in 20 years. I mean, MTV did that all the time back in the ’80s … and now it’s back. And it’s back with dance music.” Sunshine — who has gained attention through notable remixes of Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco and Good Charlotte — said he thinks that the industry is encouraged, and talent from around the world is coming out of the woodwork. “I’ve been a DJ for 18 years, and I’ve been making music for over a decade,” he said. “I’ve never been this excited about making music. I’m starting a record label because I feel like there is such a wealth of talent now. It’s called Brooklyn Fire, and I’ve found guys from all over the world. Some of these guys I’m working with, they are in New Zealand. They are all over Europe. They are in Jakarta, Indonesia. With the Internet and Soundcloud and all of these other things that connect us all, Twitter — I’ve found most of the artists on my label over Twitter. It sounds crazy, but this is how we are all doing business now.” Are you listening to more electronic and dance music because of Lady Gaga? Let us know in the comments!
