Jennifer Garner Opens Up About Divorce From Ben Affleck In Vanity Fair Interview Since announcing their split last summer the public has been pretty much in the dark about what exactly is going on with Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck. Are they really over? Are they getting back together? Did he really screw the nanny? Garner sets the record straight in a whammy of an interview with Vanity Fair first finally putting the nanny angle to bed… “Let me just tell you something,” Garner says. “We had been separated for months before I ever heard about the nanny. She had nothing to do with our decision to divorce. She was not a part of the equation. Bad judgment? Yes. It’s not great for your kids for [a nanny] to disappear from their lives.” Months later, she’s still assessing the damage. “I have had to have conversations about the meaning of ‘scandal,’ ” she says, with her children. Nuts… We can only imagine what that must’ve been like. Cuz you know Violet is 10 and had to have heard something. Even Seraphina, their 7-year-old probably had to deal with some ratchet stories. (Their youngest, Sam, is only 4.) Garner also addressed how difficult it’s been for her to avoid the chatter about her marriage. “I turned on CNN one day,” she says, “and there we were. I just won’t do it anymore. I took a silent oath with myself last summer to really stay offline. I am totally clueless about all of it.” In this constant, 24-hour media age, unplugging takes real discipline—which can be interpreted, by some, as indifference. “Ben says, ‘Oh, you just don’t care,’ and I say, ‘No, it’s the opposite.’ It hurts me so much, and I care so much,” she says, choosing to not “give a isht” how the divorce looks to the outside world. “I cannot be driven by the optics of this. I cannot let anger or hurt be my engine. I need to move with the big picture always on my mind, and the kids first and foremost.” Poor thang! In the meantime it still sounds like Ben fawked up major and could have saved the marriage by not being such a d-bag “I didn’t marry the big fat movie star; I married him,” she says. “And I would go back and remake that decision. I ran down the beach to him, and I would again. You can’t have these three babies and so much of what we had. He’s the love of my life. What am I going to do about that? He’s the most brilliant person in any room, the most charismatic, the most generous. He’s just a complicated guy. I always say, ‘When his sun shines on you, you feel it.’ But when the sun is shining elsewhere, it’s cold. He can cast quite a shadow.” Garner also discussed 43-year-old Affleck’s new back tattoo of a giant phoenix. “You know what we would say in my hometown about that? ‘Bless his heart.’ A phoenix rising from the ashes. Apparently thinking that a smile is overrated on its spokespeople, Chanel has announced that Kristen Stewart is the new face of its makeup line. The former Twilight Saga star first started working for the global brand back in 2013, fronting a clothing campaign for Chanel at the time. But it’s Stewart’s personality, not her previous experience, that landed her the role in Chanel’s 2016 Eyes Collection, according to a company statement that reads as follows: “With her modern, magnetic beauty, and free spirit, Stewart appears in a series of portraits embodying various facets of the contemporary Chanel woman.” Stewart has been a muse of creative director Karl Lagerfeld’s for many years, participating in photo shoots nearly since she struck it big and walking the runway in a Casino Royale–themed fashion show in 2015 with other celebrities. With this latest gig, she joins stars such as Keira Knightley, Gisele Bündchen and Blake Lively as a Chanel ambassador. The actress, meanwhile, has kept a relatively low profile of late. She did stir up some controversy last month, however, when she said that other female stars had to stop whining about unequal pay and/or opportunities and actually do something instead . Brandon Marshall Doesn’t Think Race Is A Factor In Public’s Dislike Of Cam Newton As the 50th Super Bowl fast approaches there will be continued talk about lightning rod “quarterblack” Cam Newton and how his flamboyant personality and bravado rub (white) people the wrong way. Much of the talk surrounds the color of Cam’s skin, but New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall doesn’t seem to think race is a real issue. According to his comments on the Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore , he thinks it’s about something else… “It’s a generational thing and I just stick to that,” Marshall said on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore. “I don’t think it’s racial. I just think that there’s a box that we put our quarterbacks in and we say, ‘This is how you’re supposed to be. This is how Peyton Manning did it, this is how Joe Montana did it, Tom Brady, so you do it the same way.’” Not sure how Brandon can ignore the racial component of the thing, but he seems to admire Cam for using his voice: “I commend him because back in the day our athletes and entertainers used to be civil rights leaders. They used to speak up,” Marshall said. “But now, the business has taken over. You have these brands like Under Armour, Nike and Beats by Dre and the yogurt thing (Dannon) that he endorsed. They come in, they tell you, ‘you know what, just be a good boy, shut your mouth and collect your check.’” “I am one of those guys that, if I have an opinion I’m going to to say it. I guess that’s why I’m on my fourth team,” Marshall added, with a smile. Another topic often broached when talking about why Cam Newton isn’t liked is his infamous dab touchdown dance. Brandon seems to have a hard time making up his mind about that part… “I don’t want my quarterback dancing,” Marshall said. “I’m from the old school…I want my quarterbacks to get back in the huddle and lead us.” But then he turned right back around and complimented Newton. “But what we have to understand is this is the new generation. This is what they’re doing next. They’re disruptive, they’re disrespectful, they don’t give a damn about any one, and I kind of like it,” Marshall said. “Go back to when he was a rookie and he said, ‘I want to be an icon.’ You want to be an icon, you can’t stay in the box, you have to get out of the box, you have to be disruptive.” Based on these responses, we’re not sure if Brandon really rocks with Cam or not, but we can definitely say that race plays at least SOME factor in why people aren’t quick in embrace Cam.
