Ben Higgins Confirms Congressional Run in Colorado

Ben Higgins officially wants your vote. The former Bachelor contestant has made the political rumor into a reality, announcing today that he is running as a Republican in Colorado’s House District 4. This Denver State House district that is predominantly Democratic and Higgins will be facing off against Democratic Representative Dan Pabon, according to The Associated Press. Higgins is 28 years old. He’s best only known for having starred on the latest season of The Bachelor. We can’t guarantee that Higgins will keep any promises he makes on the campaign trail, but he has thus far kept his vow to marry Lauren Bushnell. The couple has somehow managed to keep its romance intact, several months after filming concluded. Some time later this year, Higgins and Bushnell will even star on the very first Bachelor spin-off to track the lives of a pairing that met on the series. Ben and Lauren: Happily Ever After will air on the Freeform network in the fall. Higgins had previously said the following to Us Weekly: “People reach out to me about community development and planning and how to counsel places that need help, which is really cool because it isn’t something I necessarily had a platform on before, other than my service, and so through all of that the next question was post-Bachelor, this platform that I now had, what should we do with that? “And one of the first things that came to mind was I’ve always had a large interest in politics.” Higgins, of course, has no actual experience in politics. So this all seems pretty crazy, doesn’t it? Why would anyone vote a reality star into any kind of political office, right? There’s no way this will work… View Slideshow: 11 Stars Who Have Run for Political Office

Dennis Green Dies; Former NFL Coach Was 67

Dennis Green, the NFL coach who famously led the Minnesota Vikings to a 15-1 season and two NFC Championship games, has passed away. Green was 67 years old. His passing was confirmed in a statement issued by Green’s family this morning: “Dennis passed away last night from complications of cardiac arrest,” the statement read. “His family was by his side and he fought hard.” Green served as head coach of the Vikings and Arizona Cardinals for a total of 13 seasons. Though his career ended with a disappointing tenure in Arizona, which saw the team suffer three straight losing seasons, Green remained a beloved figure amongst both players and fans. As well known for his soft-spoken demeanor as for his strategic brilliance, Green is remembered by many for his famous “they are who we thought they were” press conference, in which he shed his calm facade and revealed the passion that his players had known for years. Social media tributes to Green from fans and former colleagues began pouring in the moment that news of his passing was made public. “Very sad to hear about the loss of fmr @AZCardinals coach Dennis Green – he will always be remembered as a pioneer for sport of football,” wrote Senator John McCain. “Please don’t remember him for his “rant.” Remember him as leader with a rare offensive mind who dared to be great,” tweeted commentator Skip Bayless. Green is survived by his wife, Marie, and children Patti and Jeremy. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Passed Away in 2016: Gone, But Not Forgotten

Purple Rain Returning to Theaters as Tribute to Prince

Prince fans can now relive the magic of Purple Rain on the big screen. The semi-autobiographical rock drama starring Prince can be seen for a limited time at select AMC Theaters starting today. Purple Rain tells the story of a young musician, “The Kid” (Prince), and his rise to stardom through the clubs in Minneapolis. The Kid is a misunderstood albeit genius artist who grapples with abusive parents, a budding relationship with a new singer and rival band Morris Day and the Time. The film, first released in 1984, is a must-see (or a must-see again) for any Prince fan, as it gives keen insights into who the man was as an individual. It brought us one of the greatest soundtracks of all time, featuring indelible tracks such as “When Doves Cry,” “Let’s Go Crazy,” “I Would Die 4 U,” and, of course, “Purple Rain.” With Purple Rain , Prince was the first artist to ever have the top movie, album and single at the same time. The film earned $80 million at the box office and is expected to rake in many more during its temporary run in the coming week. An autopsy was conducted yesterday, but an official cause of death may not be known for weeks pending toxicology results. The Carver County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that no foul play was suspected and does not believe Prince’s death was a suicide. TMZ reported that Prince had been treated for an overdose of Percoset just six days before his death when his plane made an emergency landing to administer a “save shot,” which is said to counter the effects of opiates. It is unknown whether drugs played a role in the music legend’s untimely death. Purple Rain can be seen throughout the country at select AMC theaters from Saturday, April 23 through Thursday, April 28. The Hollywood Reporter provides a complete listing of theaters . Prince: Watch Him Surprise Today Co-Host Bryant Gumbel

The date: January 3rd, 1997 The place: studio 1A in Rockefeller Center It was  Bryant Gumbel's last day as co-host of The Today Show , and a cute-as-a-button Katie Couric wanted to send her coworker off memorably. So, as Matt Lauer, his hair and Al Roker watched, Couric recapped Gumble's sit-down with “the artist formerly known as Prince.” Then, Prince came on to the stage, dressed almost exactly like Gumbel, who was floored to see his favorite musician. Prince shook Gumbel's hand and made his way to the stage, where he performed a medley of his hits (and even rewrote a few words so that his biggest fan would get a mention). Prince died thid morning at his Minnesota home at the age of 57.  He was hospitalized last week with the flu, but no cause of death has been released yet. The Associated Press tweeted that he had been touring and recording up until his untimely death, releasing four albums in the last 18 months. Stars paid tribute to the iconic musician via social media, including Justin Timberlake, Spike Lee, Samuel L. Jackson and Billy Idol. “I miss my brother. Prince was a funny cat. great sense of humor,” Lee wrote. Watch the video below, it's pretty incredible.

Kendall Jones Dresses as Walter Palmer for Halloween: Funny or Foul?

You might remember Kendall Jones as the teen who incurred the wrath of the Internet by posting graphic photos from her African hunting expeditions on Facebook. Kendall claims she inspired one of the most popular Halloween costumes of last year. We don’t recall seeing many Kendall Jones costumes, but we’ll take her word for it. Anyway, this year she’s keeping the trend going by dressing as another trigger-happy one-percenter who royally pissed off animal rights groups. Yes, that’s the now 20-year-old Kendall dressed as Walter Palmer – the Minnesota dentist who gained national infamy when it was revealed that he killed Cecil the Lion .  Kendall captioned the pic: “Since everyone wanted to dress up as me last year, guess who I am this year?! WALTER!! Lol ft. Cecil and a Koala climbing in the tree.” You’d think someone who’s actually been on safari in Africa would know that koalas are only found in Australia, but we digress. As you might have guessed, this photo has inspired some strong reactions from animal lovers, supporters of Jones and Palmer, and folks who are just weirded out by a “sexy” dentist-covered-in-blood costume. You can place us firmly in the third group. Thus far, there’s been no response from Palmer, and there probably never will be. Palmer has apologized for killing Cecil and seems intent on putting the incident behind him. Kendall, on the other hand, is clearly gonna keep trying for that 16th minute of fame.

Hank Baskett Admits Severe Depression, Says Jessica Hall Saved Marriage to Kendra Wilkinson

Battling hard for his relationship with Kendra Wilkinson, Hank Baskett is opening up about suffering from depression and how that led to a costly string of mistakes. Ones that nearly torpedoed his marriage, and even his life. Once a promising NFL wide receiver, Hank was released by the Minnesota Vikings in 2011 and never made it back on the field. His self-esteem was crushed. “For 20 years, my life was, ‘Catch the football! Catch the football!’” Hank says, and he “started holding everything in because [he] felt like no one could understand.” What no one could grasp, or so he thought, was that he “completely lost [his] identity” and “felt like a failure” trying to move onto the next phase of his life. Hank said he subsequently went “through a serious struggle with depression, and during that time, lost the ability to open up to [his] best friend, Kendra.” As the scandal involving his April tryst with transsexual model Ava Sabrina London intensified, Hank hit rock bottom, facing the loss of his family. The depression was so overwhelming, Baskett recalls, he couldn’t even properly explain his actions to his wife, fearing it would make things worse. “I had trouble thinking of the right thing to say the right way, especially in a situation like this, where it’s your word against someone else’s,” Baskett said. “One wrong word and I could lose everything.” Watch Kendra on Top Season 3 Episode 13 Online Watch Kendra on Top Season 3 Episode 12 Online That’s an interesting defense, since “no, I didn’t engage in mutual masturbation with that transsexual model” shouldn’t be hard to say if it were true. The vaguely shifty non-denials continue. Whatever he did or didn’t do with Ava, “there was a point where I felt that I couldn’t defend myself and there was no way for me to make it through this.” However, “I realize there’s no way I could ever check out on my kids and my wife, he said, adding that he may be a lot of things, but “I’m not a quitter.” Thankfully, neither is his wife, whose best friend Jessica Hall – familiar to those who watch Kendra on Top online – talked her out of filing for divorce. Despite reports that Wilkinson is trapped by her reality show and conflicted, she came around to the idea that Hank is “worth forgiving and fighting for.” “All I can say is I believe Hank,” she says. “He was in the wrong place at the wrong time and unfortunate things took place … he’s very gullible and naive.” Again, they won’t say what supposedly happened, or what story he’s sticking to, but he admits that he is “still working on regaining Kendra’s trust.” Kendra Wilkinson and Hank Baskett: In Happier Times 1. Kendra and 2 Hanks There was a time when Kendra and Hank looked to be a very happy couple. This photo was snapped in 2012. “Since day one, I’ve been comfortable with Kendra looking through my phone,” says the ex-football star. “I always want her to know I have nothing to hide.” While admitting she still has “major trust issues” in her marriage, Kendra says she is not actually single , regardless of recent tabloid gossip reports. “We’re happy today and that’s the only way we can live,” she said of the Marriage Boot Camp -bound couple. “I just want to be happy in the moment.”
