For Real Tho?? Homeless Man Arrested For Charging His Phone In The Park

Taxpayer money spent really well …SMH. A homeless man had to pay $500 in bail or spend the night in jail this past Sunday. He chose the latter…and all of this was over his arrest for charging his cell using an outlet at a public picnic shelter. According to The Herald Tribune : Darren Kersey, 28, was charged with theft of utilities after Sarasota Police Sgt. Anthony Frangioni spotted him charging his phone at about 9:20 p.m. Sunday. Unable to come up with the $500 bail for the misdemeanor, Kersey had no choice but to stay in jail. In his arrest report, Frangioni wrote that he told Kersey that the “theft of city utilities will not be tolerated during this bad economy.” Frangioni also told Kersey that he should charge his phone at local shelters, according to the report. But Monday morning Circuit Judge Charles Williams threw the case out, saying Frangioni lacked the legal justification to make the arrest. Frangioni, a 14-year veteran of the Sarasota Police Department, did not return calls or emails seeking comment for this story. Neither did City Manager Thomas Barwin. Police spokesman Capt. Paul Sutton said Chief Mikel Hollaway, who was off Monday, will be reviewing the case today. Following the review the department is expected to issue a statement, Sutton said. The arrest threatens to add to a rolling battle between Sarasota and the American Civil Liberties Union, which have clashed over various homeless issues. Glad the Judge was smart enough to toss this bull out. Images via facebook

Amanda Bynes’ License Suspended!

Greater L.A. residents can now sit in traffic drive with reduced fear. Amanda Bynes’ license has been suspended by the California DMV, according to the L.A. Times, following the misdemeanor hit-and-run charges filed against her this week. DMV officials won’t specify the exact reason or when Amanda’s suspension occurred. Regardless, insurance companies and pedestrians everywhere can exhale. Bynes was charged in two hit-and-run accidents – occurring April 10 and August 4 – when the troubled star allegedly crashed into another car and peaced out. In the case of the former, Bynes was charged with DUI . She’s been involved at least two other unrelated traffic incidents in the past six months as well. Maybe now the 26-year-old will rely on friends, cabs or car services … a novel idea she and Lindsay Lohan should have considered years and years ago. [Photo: WENN.com]

George Clooney Arrested in Sudanese Protest

George Clooney was arrested this morning outside the Sudanese Embassy in Washington, D.C.. The actor was taking part in an organized demonstration to draw attention to that country’s president, Omar al-Bashir, who is responsible for countless deaths in the region due to his blockade of humanitarian aide. Clooney – who has traveled to the country and said in the past we’re going to face a genocide if action isn’t taken – testified before Congress on Wednesday regarding the “campaign of murder” in that nation. “This is for the government in Khartoum to stop randomly killing its own innocent men, women and children. Stop raping them and stop starving them. That’s all we ask,” USA Today quotes Clooney as saying after he was handcuffed and taken away today, following repeated warnings to leave the area. Along with his father; U.S. Rep. Jim Moran (Dem.) of Virginia; NAACP President Ben Jealous and others, Clooney was placed in a Secret Service and has been charged with the misdemeanor of disorderly crossing a police line. Said the star’s rep: “They were protesting the violence committed by the government of Sudan on its own innocent men, women and children. They were demanding they allow humanitarian aid into the country before it becomes the largest humanitarian crisis in the world.”

Russell Brand Arrested And Released Over iPhone Toss Incident

Brand turned himself in on the misdemeanor warrant on Thursday. By Gil Kaufman Russell Brand Photo: Getty Images It was a quick trip to the police station for Russell Brand on Thursday afternoon. The British comedian turned himself in at the New Orleans Sheriff’s office in connection with an iPhone tossing incident and he was swiftly booked on two misdemeanor counts of simple criminal damage to property valued at $700 and then sent on his way. According to TMZ, Brand was sprung from jail in short order after posting $5,000 bond in the case, in which he is accused of grabbing a photographer’s iPhone and tossing it through the window of a downtown law office. An arrest warrant was issued for Brand on Wednesday and the “Arthur” star made no attempt to hide his part in the phone flap. Earlier this week he responded to the news by posting on his Rustyrockets Twitter feed, writing, “Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iPhone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory.” Paparazzo Timothy Jackson filed a police report immediately after the incident that claimed “criminal damages.” Jackson got his phone back and Brand agreed to pay for the window, but police still issued the warrant. TMZ also reported that Brand’s people have already paid for the broken window, handing over $240 to repair it last night. Brand is the second celeb to run afoul of the law recently after grabbing someone else’s phone. Last month,

Don’t Drink The Poison! Rush Limbaugh Is Selling His Own Brand Of Racist A$$ Tea

How about some good ol’ anti-Obama juice in your system? To support his right wing efforts, Rush is dropping his own line of sweet tea to remind us of the “good old days.” You know, the colonial days when White people owned Black people. His super American tea is called “Two If By Tea: From Tea To Shining Tea.” The tea “represents traditional American values of capitalism and the pursuit of excellence” i.e. making sure that liberals get a big “F you” at every turn. Are we supposed to read between the lines and see that this is just Rush promoring his “tea party” agenda? Yeah, we thought so. He might as well call it ObamaHate Punch. If you’re stranded on a dessert island and this is the only tea available: do you drink it?

Judge Sentences Supermodel Banger Jessica White To Anger Management For Catching Fade With Woman Outside The Club

Nothin’ like a bad b*tch that knows how to throw down… Gorgeous swimsuit model Jessica White has sashayed out of her criminal charges for an alleged slapdown with another woman over a cab last October – and she managed to do so in towering yellow platform stilettos. A Manhattan Criminal Court judge told the Victoria’s Secret model today that her misdemeanor assault charges will be dismissed if she stays out of trouble for six months, serves three days of community service and goes to anger management for two days. She also has to pay $489.94 to compensate Vanessa Kia, the Connecticut car rental company clerk she was accused of slugging as they parried for a cab outside a nightclub. White turned heads as she strutted up and down the courtroom aisle-turned-runway, wearing high heels and a well-above-the-knees royal blue sundress. She’s been in the news in recent weeks for planning an anti-child abuse campaign with Russell Simmons and a skin-care line for women of color. “The injuries were not substantial and the complaining witness was amenable,” prosecutor Rene Jarusinsky said in agreeing to the eventual dismissal. Sounds like Jessica was workin’ the preferential treatment angle with her court attire, seems like it might have worked. Play on playa…but try to leave the Naomi Campbell act alone, she’s not exactly the best role model. Source

Meet Paul McDonald, American Idol Hopeful, Lead Singer of The Grand Magnolias

When Paul McDonald takes to the stage tonight on American Idol , he’ll likely be less nervous than any of the other 11 male semifinalists. The artist has more experience than most in the competition. Will that result in a well-polished performance? We’ll soon find out. For now, watch McDonald talk about his group and listen to him sing the same original song that he used on an earlier audition, “American Dreams.” Paul McDonald – American Dreams
