St. Clair High School in Missouri is reeling over the apparently unrelated deaths, the latest of which was Monday night when a 16-year-old girl took her own life. An emergency forum Tuesday that had already been scheduled because of the suicides of a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy brought hundreds of residents of this town of 4,400, which until now was known for its whimsical twin water towers reading “cold” and “hot.” “I#39;m hearing anxiety, concern, frustration, all of the above, and
Arson Suspected In Missouri Mosque Burning What’s with all these attacks on places of worship ? On July 4th, Joplin, Missouri’s Islamic Center — the city’s only mosque — suffered roof damage after an unidentified man set it on fire by tossing a burning object onto the building. On Monday, the mosque burned again — but this time, the damage was far more extensive. Fire Chief Bill Dunn of neighboring Carl Junction described it as a “complete loss.” The FBI has dispatched some 50 agents to investigate the fire, which special agent Michael Kaste, head of the Kansas City FBI office, characterized as “suspicious.” Some fifty families are served by the mosque, and the loss of their place of worship during the holy month of Ramadan hit especially hard. “It’s unbelievable,” said congregant Omar Ahmed. “It’s a house of worship. It’s a place of God.” The Islamic Center’s leader, Imam Lahmuddin, expressed defiance in the face of hardship. “This should not stop us from serving God,” he told the Joplin Globe. “We still have to fulfill our obligation.” Lahmuddin said mosque members view the fire as “a test from God.” The FBI and the ATF are offering a $15,000 reward to anyone with information leading to the arrest of the arsonist who set last month’s fire — a reward that will be extended to include the latest incident, should it be considered deliberate. The Council on American-Islamic Relations is offering its own $10,000 reward for information pertaining to the most recent fire. Well at least no one was hurt. Hopefully they’ll catch the culprit soon. SMH. Source KOAM
Members of the Ku Klux Klan are looking to take part in the Adopt-a-Highway program for a mile-long stretch of road in Georgia, according to reports. According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Georgia Department of Transportation is currently reviewing the request made May 21 by the Klan. The application was filed by International Keystone Knights of the KKK in Union County to clean up Route 515 in the Appalachian Mountains in Blairsville. “Any civic-minded organization, business, individual, family, city, county, state, or federal agency is welcome to volunteer in the Georgia Adopt-A-Highway program,” at least according to the department’s website. The state attorney general’s office is expected to decide shortly. “We just want to clean up the doggone road,” Harley Hanson, who filed the application, told the paper. “We’re not going to be out there in robes.” But Rep. Tyrone Brooks, head of the Georgia Association of Black Elected Officials, called on Georgia state officials to reject the application. “This is about membership building and re-branding in a public way,” he said. “What’s next, neo-Nazis or the Taliban or al-Qaida adopting highways?” “We are good, decent Christian Americans,” Hanson, the group’s “exalted cyclops,” added. “What we’re trying to do is to work with the local community.” It’s not the first time the KKK has participated in an “Adopt-a-Highway” program. In 2000, the KKK successfully adopted part of I-55 south of St. Louis after a federal judge ruled that the Missouri DOT could not bar them from doing so. The Georgia KKK group said it will file a lawsuit if the state rejects its application.

‘It was a move that was in my heart,’ rapper tells Mixtape Daily. By Rob Markman Stevie Stone Photo: MTV News Fire Starter: Stevie Stone Some things were just meant to be. In the case of St. Louis, Missouri, rapper Stevie Stone , signing with Tech N9ne ‘s Strange Music label was well in the works before the up-and-coming rapper signed his name on the dotted line. After opening for Tech with a 10-minute set in a Fulton, Missouri, show as a high school student in 2000, Stone knew that he wanted to pursue music full-time. “That 10 minutes gave me the bug,” Stevie told Mixtape Daily at a recent Independence, Missouri, album signing event for Tech’s All 6’s and 7’s. Through the years the young MC kept in close contact, doing shows with Tech even though he signed his initial deal with Ruthless Records, the label co-founded by the late Eazy-E. In 2009 Stone dropped his debut album, New Kid Comin. Tech appeared on the LP on a song called “Midwest Explosion.” “A lot of his fans — Technicians, Juggalos — all of them adapted to it,” Stone said of the song. “My name started buzzing around here, especially in the Midwest on the underground scene.” Though he and Tech had formed a bond, Stevie was contractually obligated to Ruthless and couldn’t sign to Strange. Still, he joined Tecca Nina on his K.O.D. tour in 2009, his Ruthless contract expired the next year and he ended up officially signing with Strange in March. Stone is currently on Tech’s 82-city All 6’s and 7’s tour as an opening act. In between shows, the new addition is prepping his Strange Music debut, Rolling Stone, for an early 2012 release. “It was a move that was in my heart. I knew it was the move to make, and I guess they felt the same way. And when the time presented itself, we inked,” said Stevie, holding up his Strange Music chain with pride. ‘The line was wrapped around the block, like it always is. It’s a blessing,’ Tech says of event held in his Missouri hometown. By Rob Markman Tech N9ne Photo: Getty INDEPENDENCE, Missouri — Tech N9ne didn’t go mainstream, mainstream went Tech. That was the battle cry on Tuesday in KCMO, when hometown hero Tech N9ne released his sixth solo album, All 6’s and 7’s. The album, which features guest verses from popular artists like Lil Wayne, T-Pain, Snoop Dogg and Busta Rhymes, lured Kansas City fans, who lined up outside an Independence, Missouri, FYE record store for a scheduled meet-and-greet with Tecca Nina. “It’s just inspiring to me to see that we have that many hip-hop fans in Kansas City,” KC’s Hot 103 Jamz radio personality Brooklyn Martino said after the signing, which brought out more than a thousand fans. “Today, there was a constant line the whole day, and it was amazing because you see how many fans come out and appreciate the type of music that he gives Kansas City. He’s constantly giving us good music and the country has now recognized it, and it is really awesome and inspiring to the city.” Tech, who started signing autographs at the store at 3 p.m. CT, continued to meet with fans up until 9:30 p.m., only taking a seven-minute dinner break at around 8 p.m. “The line was wrapped around the block, like it always is. It’s a blessing,” Tech told MTV News. “I stand up the whole time to greet my fans. I don’t like sitting down in between a table, so it makes it harder to stand up and greet everybody how they come, but that’s how I like doing it. The day as a whole, it was successful. The album is selling really good everywhere. I’m tired as hell, but I’m proud at the same time.” “I mean the world to them because they know I’m inside out, I give them everything,” Tech, who is in the midst of an 82-city tour , said. “They know that I push real hard to give them what they want, musically, performance-wise, everything — I open all the way up. That’s why people call me a cult leader, because my fanbase is so hard-core and so devoted to the Tech N9ne, Strange Music movement.” Strange Music is the independent label that Tech has been releasing music on since establishing the business in 1999 with his business partner Travis O’Guin. In 2009, it was revealed that the label earned approximately $15 million, thanks to the support of Tech’s fans, who call themselves “Technicians” and have drawn comparisons to the famed Juggalo fans that support Insane Clown Posse. “I definitely deem today a success,” O’Guin said of the All 6’s and 7’s drop. Since being released, the star-studded LP has remained in the iTunes top three albums alongside Adele’s 21 and Dirty Work’s All Time Low. “I can give a sh– about a chart position,” O’Guin said. “A fan telling me that they love the album means more than them little glass trophies. The people, I think, genuinely love the album.” Related Artists Tech N9ne
