Whatever Happened to 90′s Rapper Tracey Lee?

Go here to read the rest:

Remember Tracey Lee ?  The rapper came on the scene in 1997 with the club classic “The Theme (It’s Party Time).”  He even had a cameo from Biggie on the song “Keep Your Hands High.”   But where is Tracey Lee now? After scoring some success in the music biz, Tracey Lee went back to school and got an entertainment law degree.  He’s also getting ready to drop a new mixtape, Free Consultation Mixtape Series Vol. 1 that includes production from 9th Wonder & Deric “D-Dot” Angelettie, among others. HOT97′s DJ Cocoa Chanelle caught up with Lee and asked him about his upcoming mixtape, working with Biggie, and his new mixtape. Read some of the highlights below, and head over to IAmCocoa.com for the full interview! DJ Cocoa Chanelle: You are one of the few fortunate artists who had a chance to collaborate with Biggie… What was that experience like? Tracey Lee: UNBELIEVABLE!!! During our session, BIG taught me more about the game then I had known, at that particular time. He was the first artist that I witnessed write without a pen and paper, which inspired me to eventually write lyrics in my head (without pen, paper, Blackberry, Android, iPad, etc…lol). He was just a cool dude. His skill set on the mic is unmatched to this day. He forced me to step my game up on that record. To watch his whole process of creating the verses for Keep Ya Hands High was crazy! I am truly blessed to have had an opportunity to work with one of the greatest in the history of music! Not many can say, nor will they even have the opportunity to say that. Again I am blessed. What made you want to get into entertainment law? Long story (laughs). The short version is my career in the music business made me want to study entertainment law. I want to be the eyes and ears for artists that are coming into the game and don’t have a clue about the music business and recording contracts, deal points, 360 deals, publishing, etc.. This is something that I didn’t have when I signed my deal, so who better to guide someone on these aspects of the business than me – someone who not only has experience as an entertainment lawyer, but who also is an established recording artist, as well. What can people expect from your mixtape? My mixtape, Free Consultation Mixtape Series Vol. 1 is a recap of sorts, mixed with a peek into the future – it’s a Tray Lee journey taking you from the beginning, right up to today. Did I mention that my mixtape is free?! This is the first in a series of mixtapes scheduled for release this year; leading up to the CD entitled, Esquire. Free Consultation Mixtape Series Vol. 1 has cuts from my first CD, Many Facez, along with other songs and freestyles to remind the fans of who Tracey Lee is. I also added some new music to give the fans a taste of what they can expect to hear on Esquire, as well as future Tracey Lee projects. Snoop Dogg Says Puff Puff Pass Tuesdays Just ‘A Warm-Up’

Doggumentary album is gonna have 21 songs, and ‘it doesn’t hurt to give you a couple on a mixtape,’ Snoop tells Mixtape Daily. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting Rahman Dukes Snoop Dogg Photo: MTV News Don’t Sleep: Necessary Notables Mixtape : Puff Puff Pass Tuesdays, Vol. 1 Headliners : Snoop Dogg and DJ Skee Key Cameos : 50 Cent, Pharrell, Tyga, Game and Wiz Khalifa Essential Info : Snoop Dogg is a benevolent mogul. The veteran rapper is putting the final touches on his forthcoming 11th studio album, Doggumentary, but before the collection arrives he wanted to deliver a teaser to his longtime fans. Hence, Puff Puff Pass Tuesdays, a take on Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Fridays series, for which ‘Ye dropped a brand new effort each week. The California rhyme-spitter told Mixtape Daily he culled together the mixtape offering with the help of DJ Skee. “It’s like a warm-up before the album comes out,” Snoop explained. “For people to know exactly what you’re getting from my album. This album is gonna have 21 songs on it and it doesn’t hurt for me to give you a couple on a mixtape, ’cause I’m taking it back to the days of Snoop Dogg when I gave you more for the money. “When I give you a double-up, you spend 10 [dollars], you get 20 [songs]. That’s what you get from me. I don’t like trying to go with the way of the [music] industry. The industry will tell you, ‘Well, you should try to make an album with 12, 13 songs.’ Really, I’m shortchanging my people when I do that. When you buy from Snoop Dogg, you usually get more than what you pay for. When you come see Snoop Dogg perform, you usually get more than what you pay for. That’s who I am, that’s the brand that I build. I can’t allow a label to step in and say who Snoop Dogg should be, ’cause this is what I created.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines . Mixtape Daily returns, and just like the Bawse, we’re in a new space and ready for the promise of a new year. Shout-outs to those who set the foundation and climbed to the top. Just before the holidays ended, though, Ross returned once more to drop his mixtape Ashes to Ashes , which he later re-released, revamping the effort with joints from Drake and his MMG acquisitions Meek Mill and Wale. “I think it’s the beginning of a lot of big things to come,” Ross told Mixtape Daily about the collection. “So I wanted to give the people something before the year was out … because I have a new album I’m cooking up. … I feel like it’s a new beginning. “There’s a lot of things that got to go. Justin Bieber Calls Lil Twist His ‘Homey’

‘We’re working on stuff for fun,’ singer say of upcoming mixtape with teen rapper. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Tim Kash Justin Bieber Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ AMA2010/ FilmMagic Justin Bieber has been known to dabble in the world of rap. Not only does he perform the rap portion of “Baby” when he sings the song live — since Ludacris isn’t always available to hit the stage with the singer — he even dropped a rap song this fall under the rap pseudonym Shawty Mane in which he raps over Vado and Cam’ron’s “Speaking in Tungs.” Now fans are waiting for what Bieber and Young Money MC Lil Twist will share with the world on their mixtape, some of which Lil Twist teased might drop very soon. When MTV News caught up with Bieber on Sunday at the American Music Awards , he said he had no further details to share about the collaboration. “I don’t know man,” he said, with a smile on his face. “Lil Twist is my homey and we’re working on stuff for fun.” Of course, even if the mixtape never sees the light of day, Bieber has plenty of projects already under way, including the releases of My Worlds Acoustic this Friday and his 3-D movie, “Never Say Never,” next year. “I think this is only the beginning,” he said. “There’s so much more to come and I just hope that I have the career that Usher, my mentor, has had.” It’s a sentiment that Usher shares. “There’s so much more in store for the future, or at least there’s a ton of things we can do and will,” he said. “And with the support of his fans, who will continue to just grow and grow and grow.” Related Photos Justin Bieber’s AMA Night Related Artists Justin Bieber
