Making It Rain On Them Side Chicks: Beyoncé’s ‘Formation Tour’ Grosses Over $250 Million

Beyoncé Brings In Over $250 Million In Sales During ‘Formation Tour’ Beyoncé has been traveling the country snatching wigs, “slaying” and gettin’ her hive in formation during her extravagant stadium tour to support her latest surprise album ‘Lemonade’. Sure, we expect Beysus Christ to perform miracles at the box office, but according to Billboard, that miracle is worth more than a quarter-billion dollars… Beyonce’s Formation stadium tour wrapped Oct. 7 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., as an unqualified blockbuster, taking in over $256,084,556 and selling 2.2 million tickets, according to Billboard Boxscore. The tour, which began April 27 at Marlins Park in Miami, averaged a whopping $5.2 million in gross and 45,757 paid attendance per show. Tour promoter Arthur Fogel, chairman of Live Nation’s Global Touring division, calls Beyonce an “amazing performer” with a “rabid, committed fan base.” The highest-grossing stop on the tour came from two sellouts at London’s Wembley Stadium July 2-3 that took in $15.3 million and sold 142,500 tickets. Earlier in the run, an $11.5 million take from two sellouts at New York’s City’s Citi Field took in $11.5 million and moved 73,486 tickets as the highest-grossing date in North America. On The Come Up: PJ Is The Next Artist To Add To Your Playlist With New Album ‘Rare’

Up And Coming Artist PJ Is Making Waves With Her Innovative Lyrics And Fresh Sound Hailing from North Carolina before later moving to Atlanta, 26-year-old PJ let us in on her new album ‘Rare’ and how her first tour has affected her transition into the limelight. “I feel like I’m the underdog, so I’m proving a lot to different people. I’m getting used to it now. It’s just a part of it. To even get signed, it wasn’t like ‘Oh you’re dope let me give you a deal’. I had to fight for that. Atlantic told me no the first time. I just feel like nobody’s counting on me to win. PJ initially started writing back in high school before catching the interest of a few record labels. She’s been signed for about a year and a half now with Atlantic and has already collaborated with a number of hot artists from Meek Mill to Lil Boosie to B.O.B. Her credentials are solid and she talked to us about how linking up with some of these artists came to pass… “Most of my songs, I didn’t really get to make them with the artists. [It’s recording demo’s] and sending them out. I think ‘Not For Long’ came out before I met B.O.B. They have teams trying to make the best thing possible for them. It’s a lot of moving pieces. Like you’ll hear ‘Oh Wiz is working, he’s looking for this,’ and then everyone starts sending stuff out. It’s kind of like friendly competition to see who gets picked.” Now, PJ is on her very first tour performing her original music from her album ‘Rare’. Hit the flip for previews of the album and to see what she says about being on the road alongside K. Michelle! Continue reading

#BankBlack: Nonprofit Organization BMe Deposits $1 Million To Nation’s Largest Black-Owned Bank

Nonprofit Organization BMe Deposits $1 Million To Nation’s Largest Black-Owned Bank A nonprofit organization has deposited more than a million dollars in the nation’s biggest Black-owned bank according to The Root : BMe Community, a national network dedicated to strengthening communities with the help of black men, is redirecting $1 million of its deposits into OneUnited, the nation’s largest black-owned bank, making BMe the “preferred nonprofit” for the bank, while OneUnited has become the “preferred bank” for the organization. “When you try to get folks positively engaged in their communities and you think about building up the assets of the community, then it only makes sense that groups that say they care about the black community also bank black,” Trabian Shorters, the CEO of BMe, tells The Root. “And our network is in six cities. We have 165 BMe leaders that we’ve funded. Their work helps about half a million people every year, and it occurred to me that if we want other folks to invest in our communities, then we should lead by example.” Both BMe and OneUnited hope to encourage the whole community to move its money and its mindset toward collective economics, as well as building wealth within the community. “I think this #BankBlack movement is about more than us moving our money; it is about us moving our minds or just sort of opening up our minds to appreciating the power of our $1.2 trillion in spending power, and for us to start connecting with each other and using our money in a more purposeful way,” Teri Williams, president and chief operating officer of OneUnited, tells The Root. Where Is Nicki?!? Meek Mill Says He’s Losing Hundreds Of Thousands Of Dollars Because Of Hating Philly Judge

Meek Mill Says He’s Losing Hundreds Of Thousands Of Dollars Meek Mill says he’s losing hundreds of thousands of dollars because a Philly judge won’t let him leave the state of Pennsylvania. The loud rapper claims he’s losing thousands in expenses and missed shows because of the pending court case according to TMZ reports: Our Meek sources say the rapper had a bunch of gigs on the books before a Pennsylvania judge prohibited him from leaving the state. As we reported, Meek — who’s on probation in his gun and drug case — is on the hot seat because he came to LA for the AMA’s with GF Nicki Minaj without getting court approval. Not only is he losing big money by not performing at concerts, he’s shelling out tens of thousands of dollars every month for commitments he’s made in L.A. He and Nicki are leasing a house that is now off limits to him. Ditto an L.A. recording studio he’s already booked for $15k a week. The biggest worry is a New Year’s Eve performance he and Nicki booked in Vegas. Tickets have already been sold and he fears a backlash from fans. Maybe his boo Nicki can let him hold a dollar or two… Continue reading

Update: Dru Hill $1 Million Breach Of Contract Case Not Over Yet

Singers Sued Kedar Entertainment For Botching Comeback Albums Fresh off of a court putting their old record company in default in their one million breach of contract case, Dru Hill will now have to justify why they deserve the megabucks judgment. A New York Federal court put Kedar Entertainment Group in default on Dru Hill’s case – which accused their former record company of bungling their comeback album and not paying them – because no one from the company ever responded to the suit. The singers said they signed deals with the company for two new albums, and Kedar promised to spend a minimum of $300,000 on promoting each one, 2010’s “InDRUpendence Day,” and Sisqo’s “Last Dragon,” which dropped earlier this year. But the suit said Kedar didn’t spend anywhere close to that amount, and in turn, Dru Hill lost millions in record sales, live shows and publishing profits. Dru Hill also complained that they never saw a dime of their advances and royalties from the records. Kedar Entertainment – headed by former Motown Records honcho Kedar Massenburg – had a month to answer Dru Hill’s lawsuit, but never did. BOSSIP’s attempts to reach Massenburg were unsuccessful. Now, Dru Hill’s lawyer, Lita Rosario, must explain to the judge why the men are entitled to the one million in damages. Lawyers for Kedar Entertainment could also appear and challenge the judgment as well. Only then will the judge make a ruling on the dollar amount. Besides a possible monetary award, the default also means that Dru Hill is no longer bound by their contracts with Kedar Entertainment.
