Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV Pushed Back To August

Rep confirms that album will drop on August 29, while DJ Khaled’s newest is pushed to July 19. By D.L. Chandler Lil Wayne Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Although Weezy gave his adoring public a new single “How to Love” last week, Lil Wayne fans will have to wait just a bit longer than expected for the Young Money head honcho’s ninth studio album, Tha Carter IV. One of the New Orleans native’s publicists confirmed to MTV News on Thursday (June 2) that the album is now due out on August 29. This is certainly not the first time the highly anticipated album has been pushed back. With some reports stating that Wayne had been working on the fourth installment of his Carter series back in 2008, Young Money president Mack Maine once said that Wayne wanted to release his opus upon the day of his release from prison last year. Then, in March, on the first night of his I Am Still Music Tour , he announced that it would drop on May 16. “It can come out tomorrow ’cause I’m so finished,” Wayne told MTV News at the time. But in April, the date was again pushed back until June 21. “He’s still perfecting a few things, he’s a perfectionist … changing a few lines,” Young Money president Mack Maine told us, hinting that they were waiting on some huge features to complete the album. “If you calculate all of that, by the time we would’ve finished mixing, we wouldn’t have met the [original] due date to turn in the album.” Lil Wayne isn’t alone in the pushback department either. DJ Khaled’s fifth album and major label debut We The Best Forever (a collaborative effort between his We The Best Music Group imprint and Cash Money) was slated for a June 28 release but will instead see the light of day on July 19. Zoe Kravitz In ASOS: On Best Friend Jay-Z & Uncomfortable “It Girl” Title [PHOTOS]

See the original post here:

Zoe Kravitz covers ASOS magazine’s July 2011 issue. Inside, she talks the “it girl” label that follows her everywhere, struggling to be best friends with Jay-Z, her parents’ style and discipline, and her latest films! She may be New York rock royalty, but the actress is flea market-loving geek at heart. On being labeled an “it-girl”: “All that ‘it-girl’ sh*t makes me kind of uncomfortable. I’m only at the beginning of my career, but I feel successful in that I haven’t sold out in any way, shape or form. I feel good about the choices I’ve made, and I don’t feel like I’ve let go of any of my values. Fame has become this obsession for people, which kind of creeps me out.” On Jay-Z: “I’d met Jay a few times, and then he asked me to be in his video for ‘I Know.’ After that we became really good friends and now he’s one of my favorite people. It sounds so weird when you say it because he’s f***ing Jay-Z! But what’s so weird is that he’s such a cool guy that sometimes I wish he wasn’t Jay-Z so we could hang out all day long and walk around and talk sh*t because I love him.” On being inspired by her mom, Lisa Bonet: “She walked away from being famous, because she didn’t really care about it. She is the most true artist I have met. She doesn’t change for anybody. I see her in front of people, in interviews, at home alone at five in the morning making collages, or in her garden, and I admire her so much. And that fact that she’s my mom is just so cool!” On her parent’s style: “I used to be a little embarrassed by how she and my dad would dress, but now I steal their clothes all the time. My dad had totally taken my Cat Stevens t-shirt, but it’s OK, I have his Black Flag one and that’s amazing. And my mom…There’s a little vintage store where she lives…She [donated] a bunch of [her] stuff while I was away and I went there when I got back and bought five of her things. Out of everything in the store, I’d bought my mother’s things.” On her parents’ discipline: “My dad was brought up very old school, very strict – ‘Yes, ma’am, yes sir.’ So he’s wearing leather pants and a boa, but he would be like, ‘Did you do your chores today?’ Or, ‘That dress is too short!’ [Or,] ‘Yes, there’s a party going on with Mick Jagger and some models, but it’s your bedtime.’” READ MORE BELOW THE GALLERY! On her breakthrough role in the Berlin Film Festival favorite “Yelling to The Sky”: “That was a really crazy, amazing experience. It was my first leading role, so it was a real challenge for me as an actor. It was very low budget, we shot it in 18 days, and it was not luxurious, but it was art. The heart and soul that went into making that film was wonderful and I’m proud to be a part of it.” On filming “X-Men: First Class”: “I feel like sometimes if you do a film with ‘movie stars’ there’s all this drama and superiority, but X-Men was not like that at all. We were living in London for four months and it was like X-Men summer camp, so we all hung out at each other’s houses after filming, went out to pubs… lived in Notting Hill, right by Portobello. I had about a month off when I first arrived in London, and I was like, “Can you send me to work please, because I’m spending all my money flea-market shopping!” On her band Elevator Fight : “Having a band is great, because with acting there are long periods of time out when you’re not doing anything, and I don’t like just sitting around, I go crazy. We found this house in the suburbs of Pennsylvania and did [the album] in eight days. Drank a lot of whisky and ate a lot of pizza and stayed up ’til 7am every day. We smelt so bad by the end, but I’m very happy with it. I don’t know what’s going to happen next, we don’t have a record deal, but we’re playing it by ear.” Zoe Kravitz Smokes A Cig, Shows Off Abs For Wonderland Mag [PHOTOS] Zoe Kravitz Debuts Two-Tone Hair At Tribeca Film Festival [PHOTOS]

Drake Talks ‘Crafting’ DJ Khaled’s ‘I’m On One’ Collabo

‘That’s the first time anybody has ever heard all three of us on a record,’ Drizzy tells MTV News of teaming with Rick Ross, Lil Wayne. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Ricky Louis Drake Photo: MTV News Drake is such a nice guy. When DJ Khaled approached Drizzy to appear on a track off of his upcoming Cash Money album, We the Best Forever, the Thank Me Later MC wanted to lend something memorable to his friend’s project. The result, “I’m On One,” Khaled’s latest single featuring Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and, of course, Drake. “Khaled waited, like, forever and a day. I was taking my sweet time trying to craft this piece of music because I knew he needed a special moment,” Drizzy told MTV News at the song’s video shoot in Miami. “When I did it, I was like, ‘OK, it’s gotta be me, Ross and Wayne.’ That’s the first time anybody has ever heard all three of us on a record.” After leaking the song onto the Internet on May 12, Khaled and company were out shooting the video for “I’m On One” this past weekend — just 15 days later — and that fact isn’t lost on Drake. “To be out here shooting a video, it’s amazing how things work nowadays,” he said. “I used to make music and never think anyone was gonna hear it, now I make music and two weeks later, we’re shooting crazy videos in Miami, living the life.” Aside from working with Wayne, who Drake is signed to and frequently shows appreciation for, the Toronto-born rapper spoke on his admiration for his “brother” Rozay. “That’s one of my favorite people to rap with in the world,” Drizzy said. “That’s family the same way YM is family, the same way that OVO is family,” he said, name-checking his Young Money and October’s Very Own teams. “Ross know what it is, MMG all day, I hold that close to my heart.” What do you think of “I’m On One”? My name is Megan, I’m from Manila, Philippines. I’m a 13-year old belieber who dreamed of meeting Justin someday. It was January 2011 when I first saw mybieberexperience.tumblr.com . I read posts form beliebers who met Justin. I was inspired. REALLY INSPIRED. Then, I saw this post that a girl won because of BieberFever.com . I asked my mom to sign me up for the fan club. But my mom said I’ll just sign up in April. Finally the month of April came. My mom signed me up and when I looked through the “News”, I saw the post “International Meet And Greet Rules”. I thought of a creative idea, I began spreading the website. After that day, I emailed my entry and I was kinda nervous, so I sent 23 emails! Then on May 9th, THE DAY BEFORE JUSTIN’S CONCERT, I checked my email hoping I’d win. Then.. while scrolling my email, I saw a mail from Brad H. “Congratulations, Justin Bieber Fan!”. I opened it immediately. Then I saw the instructions on how me can get our wristbands. I SCREAMED! I called my mom and told her I won, she was SO happy for me. I decided to go to the meet & greet with my sister. I couldn’t sleep the whole night thinking of what will happen the next day. Then on the big special day, I woke up early cause I was so excited. We went to the meet & greet box office around 2:30 pm. Then the meet & greet started around 4:30. When it was our turn, Justin said “Hey guys! *with a cute smile* then I said “Hey!” I was so STARSTRUCK . After taking a picture, I asked him if he can give me a hug, then I accidentally told him “OMYGOSH. I’m gonna cry,” while he was hugging me. He said, “Aww. No, don’t.” He looked at me if I was really crying, then hugged me tighter. He was so DOWN TO EARTH, nice and sweet!! I saw Kenny, Carin and Alfredo, too!! May 10, 2011 was the day I really believed that DREAMS DO COME TRUE. Justin was right, NEVER SAY NEVER – @megansajul Read the rest here: My name is Megan, I’m from Manila, Philippines. I’m…

Twitpic Of The Day: Ashanti, Ja Rule And Young Lloyd Take It Back To 2004

Whenever a major concert happens in New York City, there’s always some random (slightly unnecessary) on-stage reunion. Last night, at that Diddy Dirty Money “Coming Home” show at the Hammerstein Ballroom, that Reunion came courtesy of the house that Irv Gotti built. Ashanti tweeted this pic of herself with her “bra’s” Ja Rule and Young Lloyd following her and Ja’s surprise appearance. First, she and Lloyd performed his debut single “Southside,” then she and Ja Rule took it back to the height of his pre-50 career with “Always On Time.” Click here for more of Ashanti’s twitpics.
