Holly Madison Slams Crystal Harris, Questions Model’s Motives for Marriage

Holly Madison claims she had mixed feelings when she first heard Hugh Hefner was engaged to Crystal Harris. But, in an interview with Life & Style , the often-naked model has clearly unmixed them, making it clear she does not approve of her ex-boyfriend’s impending marriage. “I’d like to see Hef settle down,” Holly told the tabloid. “I just want it to be with the right person, and I feel like he’s making a hasty decision. I’m not sure Crystal is the best thing for him.” Referring to her fellow giant-breasted blonde as “mysterious,” Holly adds that she’s wary of Crystal’s intentions: “I’ve seen a lot of girls try to date Hef, and some have ulterior motives. I don’t think it would be a bad idea for him to get to know her a little better. I think it’s possible Crystal could break Hef’s heart. They could end up divorcing, and she could take half his money.” Is she jealous that the man she once wanted to marry has asked for the hand of someone else? No. It’s simply: “I just don’t want it to be a girl who’s using him to start her career.” Presumably, the woman who no one had heard before she resided in the Playboy Mansion and who has spun that move into her own reality show, said that with a straight face. Impressive.

Drake’s Next Act, Lil Wayne’s Return, More Hip-Hop Stories To Watch

Mixtape Daily gears up for post-prison music from T.I. and Mobb Deep’s Prodigy, along with more from Young Money/ Cash Money. By Jayson Rodriguez Lil Wayne Photo: Skip Bolen/ Getty Images Arrests and court cases dominated the hip-hop headlines last year, but with Lil Wayne free and a host of new stars ready to take the next step, 2011 should bring some better days . Drake is expected to drop Take Care, the follow-up to his debut, and the entire Young Money/ Cash Money crew has their sights set on world domination (can we also get a world tour?). There are still some MCs behind bars, but T.I. and Mobb Deep’s Prodigy will be out soon, and hopefully acts like Young Jeezy, 50 Cent and Nas can rebound from rap purgatory with projects worthy of their talents. Here, Mixtape Daily presents part two in our preview of stories to follow in the new year. Drake’s Second Date The breakout star of 2010 is working on the follow-up to his debut, Thank Me Later : the gentlemanly titled Take Care. He’s promised bigger records for his sophomore set, and so far, he’s been in the studio with Justin Timberlake and the Neptunes, among others, to prove his point. His much-hyped R&B mixtape, It’s Never Enough, is on hold at the moment as Drizzy takes his act international during his current jaunt across the Atlantic with J. Cole. When the pair of projects arrive, however, expect Drake-mania to ratchet up all over again. Freed MCs The past 12 months weren’t kind to T.I. After being released from a halfway house in March, the beloved Atlanta MC returned to work, but the reception to his solo material was tepid. He scored knockouts with his guest verses on Drake’s and Rick Ross’ albums, but by the time he released his retooled (and rushed) No Mercy LP, he was back behind bars after a parole violation . We’re hoping Tip rebounds like Blake Griffin when he completes his 11-month prison term. Mobb Deep’s Prodigy, meanwhile, is scheduled to finish his jail sentence this year as well. The New York MC was embarking on a rejuvenated solo career when he was arrested on gun-possession charges. We’ll be saluting him when he touches back down. Rebounding Rappers Without a doubt, Young Jeezy is one of the best out, but the trap star has had a harder time than usual getting his latest album, the long-delayed Thug Motivation 103, out the gate due to the slow response to his single choices. Likewise, a motivated 50 Cent, who has been busy milking millions of dollars out of Hollywood lately, is set to come back with a new album, the follow-up to Before I Self-Destruct, the superstar’s first LP to fall short of the platinum-selling mark. Fellow Queens native Nas may have expanded his fanbase with his collaborative effort with Damian Marley, but fans are looking for the Distant Relatives MC to return to Nasty Nas form on his forthcoming effort, due later this year. Weezy’s World There’s Lil Wayne’s next album, and then there’s everybody else’s projects. Apologies to Jay-Z and Kanye West, but even their royal collaborative LP, Watch the Thrown, has to bow down to Tha Carter IV as the most-anticipated hip-hop album of the year. The frenetic MC was behind bars for 10 months in 2010 and has kept a low profile since he was released in November. Weezy’s rollicking “6 Foot 7 Foot” is a sign of things to come. Excuse his charisma, but we’re rocking with the Cash Money King in 2011. Young Money/ Cash Money Takeover Nicki Minaj is still in full promotional mode for Pink Friday, with videos on the way for her Drake-assisted “Moment 4 Life” and “Fly” featuring Rihanna. Then there’s Drizzy’s pair of projects, his R&B mixtape and Take Care. Lil Wayne is back (!!!) and putting the final touches on Tha Carter IV. The next generation of YM heavy hitters are on deck: Tyga, Lil Twist and Cory Gunz are all expected to drop their debuts albums. New Cash Money acquisition DJ Khaled is also readying his first project for the house that Baby and Slim built. Then there’s the rumored YMCMB tour that would place the revamped crew alongside Bad Boy, Death Row, No Limit, Rough Ryders and Roc-A-Fella as one of the premiere collectives in hip-hop history. Mixtape Daily will be back on the daily grind beginning Tuesday, January 18, with our first Main Pick of the new year, Rick Ross’ Ashes to Ashes. Britney Spears’ Pop Rivalries, From Christina Aguilera To Lady Gaga

‘She’s sort of left a lot of these girls in the dust,’ one Spears expert tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena, with additional reporting by Christina Garibaldi Lady Gaga and Britney Spears Photo: Getty Images For more than a decade, Britney Spears has been pitted against some of her pop peers, including Madonna, Jessica Simpson, Christian Aguilera and, most recently, Lady Gaga . She’s publicly buried the hatchet with Madonna and Aguilera — sharing a three-way kiss with the pair at the 2003 VMAs — and never really paid much attention to the hype of other so-called rivalries. “Since the beginning of her career, she’s always been pitted against whatever big pop person there is,” MTV News’ Jim Cantiello explained. “I feel like artists have had rivalries with Britney and she hasn’t really had rivalries with them,” Entertainment Weekly ‘s Leah Greenblatt added. “She’s sort of left a lot of these girls in the dust.” While Brit has managed to stay on top all these years, a new pop princess might give her a run for her money. “I think Gaga’s already been talking about what she is gonna do. She has said that her album is going to be more than just dance songs, and I’m guessing that Britney might be making a different type of album, which is great, because in that sense, Brit and Gaga don’t have to compete,” Perez Hilton said of any potential new rivalry. “They’re each doing their own very distinct thing.” Greenblatt agreed: “It just seems like they’re operating on different wavelengths right now. I mean, Britney’s proven herself over such a longer period of time than Gaga has. I don’t think that Gaga can just wipe her off the pop royalty board.” At the end of the day, it’s not at all about competition, Cantiello explained. “Britney’s going in the super dance route and Gaga’s doing a super personal album,” he said. “It comes a point where we’ve got to stop comparing the two.” Plus, it’s hard for these two to really ever compete with one another, since Gaga has admitted to waving the Britney flag . “I was 13 when Britney became a star,” she said in 2009. “I was amazed by the level of the superfan that Britney created. I want to bring back the feeling that I used to feel.” Who has been Britney’s worthiest adversary? Share your thoughts in the comments! 50 Cent Tweets Stock Tips, Banks $8.7 Million

Yes, you read both parts of the above headline correctly. 50 Cent made a fortune from rapping, but that doesn’t mean he’s content to rest on his laurels and Tweet photos of himself with stacks of cash all day. Okay, well he does do that a fair amount But our point is that 50, a.k.a. Curtis Jackson, is proving quite the businessman in addition to entertainer. MAKIN’ BANK: Chelsea Handler must be attracted to more than his rap skills. 50 Cent recently Tweeted about a penny stock company he’s invested in … one that’s up 290 percent since he pitched the stock tip to 3.8 million followers. “You can double your money right now. Just get what you can afford,” 50 tweeted about a Florida company, H&H Imports. “They are no joke get in now.” He received 30 million shares of H&H in a private placement last October, buying portions of his stake at 15 cents, 25 cents and – no kidding – 50 cents. H&H closed up 29 cents the other day, boosting Jackson’s 30 million-share stake by $8.7 million . Might he have a second career as a financial advisor? This wasn’t his first foray into the investment world either. Earlier this month, Jackson also “personally endorsed” a line of mobile audio products that are made by another Florida company, Sleek Audio, H&H said. Jackson talked up the headphones when he appeared on TV last week from the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. We eagerly await that Tweet.

Britney Spears Fans Embrace ‘Hold It Against Me’

‘The beat is sick!’ one fan commented. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears Photo: Eric Charbonneau/Le Studio/Wireimage We’re sure there are people in the world who don’t like the new Britney Spears song, “Hold It Against Me,” but judging by the comments on several articles MTV News has posted about the track on Monday, most fans are enthralled with Spears’ latest opus about love on the dance floor. “Britney, you are amazing as always. I’m glad that you are back,” commenter Juliana Alves shared. “Loved the new song.” “She is definitely back! Her single is hot!” Ry commented. “The beat is sick! U rock, Brit!” Rus7 pointed out that at first he didn’t love “Hold It Against Me,” but then it grew on him. “The first seconds I listened to the song, I was kinda disappointed ’cause it was the same as the demo, but then the second and the third chorus, including the break, just made me change my idea. I love the final beats!” he wrote. “This song is just to be in the club. … Haha, definitely 5 stars!” Weighing in on the epic Gaga vs. Britney battle of 2011 , Adham noted that this song definitely is a tune to give Gaga a run for her money. “Omgg you guys are right, even though I still don’t think it’s good enough to beat Gaga, but wowwwwwwww!!! It’s definitely competition 😛 I LOVE IT!!” LOX added, “Queen Britney! It’s just the beat, her sexy and catchy voice. … No one is like Britney. Maybe Gaga is more talented, but I’m sorry like every country … music only has one queen: BRITNEY!! You’re back, and it’s Britney B*tch!!” Ccrazy4brit

Channing Tatum Talks Possible Johnny Depp ’21 Jump Street’ Cameo

‘It’s really his pick,’ he tells MTV News of roles Depp could play in big-screen adaptation of ’80s cop show. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Channing Tatum Photo: MTV News The last time we asked Johnny Depp about signing on for a cameo in a big-screen adaptation of “21 Jump Street,” the Oscar-nominated actor said simply, “I’m in. I think it’d be pretty easy.” That one question has one of the film’s stars declaring his love for MTV News. “Thank you, so much! Thank you, I love you!” laughed Channing Tatum , who’ll star alongside Jonah Hill in the upcoming project “We’re going to try and do it. With every piece of us, we’re going to try to do it.” Hill, who penned the script, has previously told us he has a specific cameo for Depp in mind, but Channing indicated that the original star of the ’80s TV series would be able to choose from a variety of roles. “There are a bunch of possible characters he could play,” the “Dilemma” star said. “It’s really his pick.” Tatum and Hill’s parts are already set: They’ll play undercover detectives sent back to pose as high school students. “What happens is they get caught up in the high school-ness as opposed to the police work,” Hill previously told MTV News . “And whenever they get too caught up in the high school drama, police work comes in. And whenever they get too caught up in the police work, high school drama comes in.” And just for the record, neither of their characters, Tatum said, are related to characters from the original series. So Tatum won’t be, say, the son of Depp’s Tom Hanson. “It’s an entirely new imagination of what ’21 Jump Street’ is,” he explained. “We’re not doing a spoof whatsoever. It will be crazy characters that are in very unreal circumstances sometimes.” Do you want to see Johnny Depp revisit his “21 Jump Street” character for the movie? Tell us in the comments!
