Cory Monteith Death Pushes Back Glee Season 5 Premiere

Glee has pushed back the premiere of its fifth season, originally set for September 19, following the tragic death of Cory Monteith last weekend. The hit Fox show will now return one week later, September 26. In a statement, Fox said that the network, producers and 20th Century Fox TV decided to delay starting production until August, pushing back the premiere. Vancouver, B.C., police found Cory Monteith dead in his hotel after he apparently overdosed on heroin and alcohol. The actor was just 31 years old. It’s not yet known how the hit, music-filled show will address the loss of Finn, a central character for its first four seasons, in the upcoming Season 5. The father not being invited to Cory’s viewing…now that’s cold. Cory Monteith’s Father Not Invited To Private Viewing We understand his parents are divorced, but that man still had a right to see his son. SMH. According to TMZ Cory Monteith’s body was cremated Tuesday in Vancouver following a private viewing with his family and girlfriend Lea Michele, TMZ has learned — but Cory’s father wasn’t invited … and he’s heartbroken. Cory’s dad Joe Monteith — who is divorced from Cory’s mom Ann — tells TMZ … he was informed of the cremation after the fact, adding he’s “totally devastated” he didn’t get a chance to see Cory’s body. We’re told Cory’s body was released yesterday to his mom, and she decided to hold a viewing at the hospital with Lea and Cory’s brother Shaun. Following the viewing, we’re told Cory’s mom decided to have him cremated. Cory’s dad tells us, “I always loved both my sons and am going to miss Cory very very much. I’m saddened at the fact that I couldn’t have been there to see my son before he was cremated.” As for Cory’s alleged drug use … his dad says he’s “shocked.” We wish his family well. R.I.P.

Cory Monteith Cause of Death: Heroin and Alcohol Overdose

An autopsy conducted by medical examiners in Canada shows that Cory Monteith died from a lethal combination of heroin and alcohol, reports say. Cory Monteith Cause of Death Explained The British Columbia Coroners Service says an autopsy and toxicological analysis show a ” mixed drug toxicity , involving heroin and alcohol” took his life. The 31-year-old Glee star’s body was discovered by staff members at the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel in Vancouver, B.C., in the early hours of July 13. Cory Monteith’s death was an absolute shock, but the cause of death is tragically not, given the circumstances, and his ongoing struggle with addiction. He had completed a stint in rehab earlier this year and recently admitted that he began struggling with drugs and alcohol as a young teenager. Reports say he had been leading a double life of sorts, staying focused and sober at work while falling back into old habits back in Canada. R.I.P.

Following the tragic death of Cory Monteith , it may not be important in the grand scheme of things – but it’s something Fox will need to consider: How will Glee Season 5 handle the passing of a central cast member? It’s not unprecedented for programs to deal with the loss of an actor or actress. The West Wing gave John Spencer’s Leo a heart attack. Just last year, Dallas wrote in a funeral for J.R. Lea Michele Rep Issues Statement, Requests Privacy During "Devastating Time"

With the television and entertainment world reacting in shocked sadness, Lea Michele has spoken out for the first time since Cory Monteith was found dead yesterday in a Vancouver hotel room. Through her rep, the actress – who was dating her Glee co-star at the time of his passing – said simply: “We ask that everyone kindly respect Lea’s privacy during this devastating time.” Details of Monteith’s death are still coming in, but the actor – who checked into rehab at the age of 19 and again just this past April – was reportedly out with friends in Canada on Friday. He returned to his hotel room alone, however, and was found by staff members after missing his noon check-out time. Cory Monteith Dead; Glee Star Found Unresponsive in Hotel Room

Glee star Cory Monteith was found dead Saturday. He was just 31.  Vancouver police found Monteith dead after he failed to check out at noon from the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel. Staff went to check on him and made the discovery. It’s been reported that he was “clearly deceased” at the scene.  According to investigators, he was in the room Friday night with some friends before the group went out on the city, then came back early Saturday alone. No foul play is suspected in the death of Cory Monteith, whose rep confirmed the worst in a statement in the hours after this story broke: “We are so saddened to confirm that the reports on the death of Cory Monteith are accurate,” the rep said. “We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss.” What led to his tragic passing is unclear, however. Police said “it was not immediately apparent” what caused his death. An autopsy is set for Monday. Monteith voluntarily checked himself into rehab earlier this year, admitting he had substance abuse issues. It was his second time seeking treatment. He had been dating fellow Glee star Lea Michele since 2012. Our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family.
