Lady Gaga Dishes On Born This Way During London Show

During her concert on Friday, the pop star said her upcoming album ‘doesn’t have a bunch of rock ballads,’ confirmed that it will feature ‘You and I.’ By James Dinh Lady Gaga (file) Photo: Derek Storm/ Splash News Throughout the year, Lady Gaga has not only talked up her forthcoming album, Born This Way, but she’s also previewed a few new tracks that may or may not appear on the release. On songs like “You and I” and “Living on the Radio,” Gaga strays from her usual dance-hit formula to explore a more Elton John-esque sound. However, during her recent Monster Ball Tour stop at London’s O2 Arena on Friday, the pop star told the roaring audience that the project won’t be full of too many piano-driven ballads. After asking concertgoers if they wanted to hear a new song, Mother Monster said , “Want to hear ‘You and I’? This one is going to be on Born This Way. It’s one of my favorites. The album doesn’t have a bunch of rock ballads or anything, but this is one of them.” Following her chit-chat with the audience, Gaga launched into tune, which finds the singer recalling a reunion with a lover. “There’s something, something about this place/ Something about lonely nights and my lipstick on your face/ Something, something about my cool Nebraska guy/ Yeah something about/ Baby you and I,” she sang while pounding away on her piano. In the midst of her “You and I” performance, the songbird took time to give herself props for the originality and creativity she puts into her material. “Now I don’t know if you know this, but for those of you who don’t know, I write all my own music,” she announced. “Every single lyric, melody and note was created by me. I am not manufactured. I’m a bad cat and coming for you ’cause I believe in you and I.” Later on in the song, she added, “It’s not that I don’t like to be humble, it’s just that pop music has a pretty bad rap,” before indulging in some of her usual impulsive piano antics. Gaga’s Little Monsters can expect to hear even more new tunes as early as February. Just a few weeks ago, she told fan site Lady-Gaga.net that the lead single from Born This Way will be released that month, while comparing the album to “bad kids going to church, having fun on a high level.” What kind of tracks are you looking forward to hear on Born This Way ? Lady Gaga Thanks Fans For Twitter Crown

The singer shouts out her fans for making her the most-followed tweeter. By Mawuse Ziegbe Lady Gaga Photo: Derek Storm/ Splash News Lady Gaga’s millions of fans have another title to call their Mother Monster: Queen of Twitter. After steadily gaining on Britney Spears, who until recently was the most-followed user on the social-networking site, Gaga surpassed her fellow pop supernova over the weekend by landing over 5.7 million followers. At press time, Gaga’s Twitter army clocked in at 5,726,168 deep, besting Brit, who had 5,696,275 followers. Just days ago, the chart-toppers were neck-and-neck, with Spears boasting 5,646,028 Twitter peeps to Gaga’s 5,635,460. When Gaga learned she had dethroned Spears, she took to the Internet to thank the people who made it all possible: her fans. In a video posted online, Gaga doles out heaps of “monster” love to her followers for solidifying her digital dominance. Sporting a lace headpiece adorned with a sequined Twitter logo and an ornamental Gaga-fied version of the site’s familiar bird symbol, the singer addressed her nearly 6 million followers. “Hello world, this is Lady Gaga, queen of Twitter,” said the singer, with a flourish of an illuminated scepter and a sprinkle of glitter; a move that was part-Elizabethan royalty and part-Glinda the Good Witch. “I wanted to thank all my beautiful little monsters for following me. Thank you for beginning my reign as Twitter queen.” The singer then wished her Twitter-dom only the most enjoyable of experiences when logging onto the micro-blogging site. “May you always have soft cuticles while tweeting,” Gaga said wistfully. “May you never have carpal tunnel.” The “Alejandro” singer, who filmed the clip backstage at her Monster Ball Tour stop in Tacoma, Washington, promised to keep the Twitter nonsense to a minimum. “I vow never to partake in celebrity online shenanigans,” Gaga said. “And I vow to always tweet and tweet again.” Before signing off, Gaga left her legions of viral fans with a few words of encouragement. “Just remember that I love you,” Gaga said. “And love you yourself. Because little monsters, you were born that way, baby. I love you Twitter. See you at the Monster Ball.” Related Photos The Evolution Of: Lady Gaga Related Artists Lady Gaga Britney Spears

Lady Gaga Writhes Around In The Rain For ‘Today’ Show

Gaga performs a jazz standard, hits and her newest tune, ‘You and I,’ in Rockefeller Center. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga performs on the “Today” show Friday Photo: Jemal Countess/Getty Images According to the hosts of the “Today” show, 18,000 to 20,000 people showed up to see Lady Gaga perform on Friday morning (July 9). And even after waiting for hours in the heat, which was finally relieved by rain during the set, the crowd didn’t seem disappointed by what their Mother Monster brought them. Gaga jazzed up Rockefeller Plaza in a sequined, all-white suit and a bra complete with sparkly crosses. She began her set with the standard “Someone to Watch Over Me,” and though she was accompanied by a full band, backup singers and dancers, the cover still displayed Gaga’s vocal abilities. She then seamlessly segued into “Bad Romance.” Sitting at her piano, Gaga said told Meredith Viera hasn’t gotten accustomed to being famous yet. “I haven’t [gotten used to it], but I love and cherish my fans so much,” she said. “I just want to say a big thank you to all of the television and radio and the underground clubs and the gay community for supporting me for the past three years. … There’s certainly things that are difficult to deal with, but the kind of fame that I cherish is the relationship I have with my fans.” When introducing her newest song, she explained the inspiration behind it. ” ‘You and I’ was written about the most important person that I’ve ever met and all my friends downtown, Lady Starlight and Brian, who’s here today playing trumpet, and all my friends, they’re so wonderful.” And though the song is more lo-fi than many of her tunes, she kept it Gaga by donning a pair of disco-ball sunglasses. After the commercial break, Gaga came out wearing a black suit and bra to sing her latest hit, “Alejandro.” In the middle of the song, she asked the crowd to “put their hands up for your gay pride.” She later shouted, “Hands up, little monsters. I love New York.” In the pouring rain, completely soaked, Gaga told the skies to “let it rain” as she belted out the last few notes of her song “Teeth.” She then crossed herself and took a bow with her backup dancers by her side. And with that Gaga ended her epic “Today Show” performance. In the hours leading up to her appearance, Gaga tweeted a message to the fans who camped out before the show. “My little monster sweeties are already camped outside today show!” she wrote. “I love u! Will be sending u pizza and water all day! And a surprise 2moro! Thousands of precious lil monsters are sleeping in street outside Today Show. May NY watchover u, + may u sleep smiling under the stars. Amen.” Did you catch Gaga on “Today”? What did you think of her performance? Tell us in the comments!
