We met the mother on Gotham Season 2 Episode 2 . Veteran actress Carol Kane stopped by the new Fox hit as the mother of The Penguin Oswald Cobblepot, making the character every bit as eccentric as one would expect from the woman who brought this young villain into the world. We also watched as Cobblepot hitched a ride into the country with a couple unfortunate teenagers who made the mistake of referring to him by a certain nickname, but make no mistake: he isn’t running away from Gotham. He’s settling into a trailer (for $100 per month) and plotting his return and his revenge against all who have wronged him. And that’s a very long list. But the crux of this installment was on a different villain-to-be, as Selina Kyle and the kids of Gotham took center stage. Mostly ignored by the adults in this decaying city, many homeless youth are being snatched up by those involved in some kind of child-trafficking plot, as they pack up the kidnapped children and ship them off to… who knows where?!? Who wants to know where, really. Kyle exerts her independence and her maturity throughout the episode, as Gordon and Bullock eventually track down the culprits (after literally coming to blows inside the police station) and the Mayor shows some dark colors of his own. In order to clean up the streets, he orders the kids to be sent upstate to juvenile detention. Gordon confronts him about this decision, but he gets nowhere. To close the episode, however, Kyle gets somewhere with Gordon: she beckons him over and asks for a deal. Will he help her NOT be sent upstate in exchange for the information she can provide? That information? Selina says she witnessed the murders of the Wayne parents and can pick out the shooter. The episode cut to black on that statement, but also worth noting is an earlier scene between Fish Mooney and Carmine Falcone. The latter clearly is hip to the former’s plan to try and take him down, beating up Mooney’s lover as a way of proving his dominance. We later see Fish complaining to Butch, still intent on rising to the top rank at some point. She wants to kill Falcone with her bare bands. Isn’t it always fun when the bad guys themselves don’t get along? It adds some layers and some shades of grey to the overall product. What did everyone else think of this follow-up episode? Adrian Peterson has been accused of child abuse for the second time in less than a week. According to a new report by KHOU, the Minnesota Vikings running back sent a different four-year old son back to his mother last June with a scar on his forehead. The station says Peterson sent the mother a text message that claimed the toddler smacked his head on a car seat… but when the boy’s mother pressed the issue, Peterson admitted to striking hitting the child. This story is developing. UPDATE: Sources tell TMZ that the the child accidentally hit his head on a car seat while being punished by Peterson, but Peterson did not directly hit the boy. KHOU has uncovered the actual text messages sent between Peterson and this woman. They read: Mother: “What happened to his head?” Peterson: “Hit his head on the Carseat.” Mother: “How does that happen, he got a whoopin in the car.” Peterson: “Yep.” Mother: “Why?” Peterson: “I felt so bad. But he did it his self.” In a subsequent text, Peterson told the mother that if the child had simply remained “still” and taken his “whooping,” he would not have hit his head. The Houston TV station reports the mother of the four-year-old filed a report with Child Protective Services, but no charges have been filed. Meanwhile, Peterson was arrested on charges of negligent or reckless injury to a child over the weekend. He admitted to the authorities that he “whooped” another four-year old child with a switch , text messaging that boy’s mother (who is a different woman than the original woman cited above) that he felt bad for going so far with his beating. The Vikings sat Peterson for yesterday’s game against the Patriots, but have reinstated him for next Sunday’s contest against the Saints. He issued a lengthy apology earlier today in which apologized for the latest incident, said he’s been seeing a psychologist and that he’s working to be a better father and person .
