The first trailer for Magic Mike , a semi-autobiographical exploration of the younger, male stripper days of star Channing Tatum, has just been released. Based on Tatum’s stint in the profession before he made it big, Mike tells the story of an upstart male stripper taken under the wing of more experienced colleagues. With this kind of supporting cast – Matthew McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer, Joe Manganiello, Adam Rodriguez, Gabriel Iglesias, Cody Horn, Olivia Munn and even director Steven Soderbergh – Magic Mike may be a must-see … Magic Mike Trailer

Jessica Simpson: Inside the Delivery Room (?)

Jessica Simpson hasn’t even given birth to her baby girl Maxi yet, but that’s not about to stop one tabloid from taking us INSIDE THE DRAMATIC DELIVERY! You gotta love that on the week Brad and Angelina get engaged , for real, that In Touch will make up some other cover story. Why not lead with Brange? After all, they’ve gotten engaged so many times before, according to your magazine … why not cash in on the real thing when people might actually buy it?! In any case, Jessica Simpson is ready to pop any day now, which makes this odd cover – how can you be inside a delivery that hasn’t taken place? – sort of justified. Sort of. It’s possible Jess has already elected to have a c-section, is under hypnosis to soothe her cold sweats and has already planned her first words to her baby. Still, none of this has happened yet, because she is enormously pregnant. We’ll know when she gives birth and Jessica Simpson will provide all the Jessica Simpson quotes we need at that time. How could ITW compare with that now?

In LOL (seriously, that’s the name), Cyrus stars as Lola (or Lol, for short, seriously), a high schooler navigating through peer pressures of romance and friendship. Lol breaks up with her BF after he reveals he’s been seeing someone else, battles her rival (Ashley Greene) and sees her grades slip. That’s just in the trailer, too! Savages Trailer: Oliver Stone Tackles the Drug Trade

From director Oliver Stone comes Savages , a thriller caught between two worlds: The medicinal marijuana world of San Diego and the cartel-ruled universe of Mexico. Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson play marijuana “dealers” who buy in bulk for patients at their medical marijuana shop. At least until things take a very ugly turn. When the cartel wants in on the business and they refuse, their shared girlfriend ( Gossip Girl ‘s Blake Lively) is kidnapped. Watch the trailer for the July 6 film below: Savages Trailer

TRAILER: Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson Just Want Their Girlfriend Back in Oliver Stone’s Savages

Why would a Berkeley grad weed dealer and his ex-Navy SEAL partner take on a Mexican cartel who wants in on their business? To get their kidnapped shared girlfriend back, of course! Since said shared girlfriend is Blake Lively , I can understand why Aaron Johnson and Taylor Kitsch would risk life and limb to fight off Salma Hayek’s gun-wielding goons. I’m not quite as sold on why Oliver Stone would make a movie like this, but after watching the trailer for Savages , hell — I’m in. Let’s catalogue all the things in the first trailer for July 6’s Savages , which debuted on MTV , that are intriguing: – Aaron Johnson’s UC Berkeley white boy dreads, which I might otherwise find unappealing if they weren’t on him and only for like 5 seconds – (Side note: I went to Cal and I never once encountered a pot dealer who looked like Aaron Johnson. Sigh.) – Aaron Johnson and Taylor Kitsch as odd couple bro-buddies – Blake Lively as a woman who is so in love with both Aaron Johnson and Taylor Kitsch she decides she’ll just date them both at the same time in some sort of super progressive three-way relationship – Blake Lively embracing her sensuality and being actually interesting for once (see above) – Salma Hayek’s bangs – Taylor Kitsch stabbing John Travolta out of nowhere – Evil Benicio del Toro literally twirling (okay, nervously stroking) his evil moustache – The return of California surfer-outlaw chic — are skeleton hoods the new President masks? Verdict: Bring on the Johnson-Kitsch sandwich. Get More: Emile Hirsch , Blake Lively , Benicio Del Toro , Aaron Johnson , Uma Thurman , Salma Hayek , John Travolta , Movie Trailers , Movies Blog Savages is adapted from Don Winslow’s novel, with a script penned by Winslow and Shane Salerno. Official synopsis: Three-time Oscar®-winning filmmaker Oliver Stone returns to the screen with the ferocious thriller Savages, featuring the all-star ensemble cast of Taylor Kitsch, Blake Lively, Aaron Johnson, John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Benicio Del Toro, Salma Hayek, Emile Hirsch and Demian Bichir. The film is based on Don Winslow’s best-selling crime novel that was named one of The New York Times’ Top 10 Books of 2010. Laguna Beach entrepreneurs Ben (Johnson), a peaceful and charitable Buddhist, and his closest friend Chon (Kitsch), a former Navy SEAL and ex-mercenary, run a lucrative, homegrown industry—raising some of the best marijuana ever developed. They also share a one-of-a-kind love with the extraordinary beauty Ophelia (Lively). Life is idyllic in their Southern California town…until the Mexican Baja Cartel decides to move in and demands that the trio partners with them. When the merciless head of the BC, Elena (Hayek), and her brutal enforcer, Lado (Del Toro), underestimate the unbreakable bond among these three friends, Ben and Chon — with the reluctant, slippery assistance of a dirty DEA agent (Travolta) — wage a seemingly unwinnable war against the cartel. And so begins a series of increasingly vicious ploys and maneuvers in a high stakes, savage battle of wills.

Mother of 9/11 Hero Addresses Carson Daly, Defends "Strong, Heroic Gay Men"

Carson Daly is still feeling the heat for comments he made yesterday morning on his radio show, and this time the source is the mother of a 9/11 hero. Following Daly’s on-air joke that implied gay people were too weak to subdue an airline pilot – in this case, the JetBlue captain, Clayton Osbon , who simply lost control of his senses aboard a flight earlier in the week – Alice Hoagland has penned a letter to the host of The Voice . Hoagland is the parent of Mark Bingham, one of the passengers on 9/11’s United Airlines Flight 93, who helped wrestle control from terrorists and crashed the plane in a Shanksville, Pennsylvania field, saving countless lives in the process. “Yes, my gay son was known in our family for bringing me flowers on my birthday and Mother’s Day,” Hoagland writes. “He also was known for careening down the rugby pitch, and, on the morning of September 11, 2001, for charging unarmed down the aisle of a doomed Boeing 757 to face knife-wielding Islamist thugs in a hijacked cockpit. “No one among his pick-up team of fellow passengers was asking ‘Are you straight? Are you gay?’ No one doubted that a guy who weighed 220 and stood 6’4” tall – who could run over a charging opponent on the field, and ran with the bulls in Pamplona earlier that summer – would be an asset to a desperate group trying to overcome a threat onboard an airliner. “The world has its share of strong, heroic gay men. Gay men in sports uniforms and military uniforms have been winning America’s games and fighting America’s battles for a long time: quietly, humbly, and in the face of vicious bigotry. “I hope you and I may have an opportunity to talk sometime. I prefer to believe you didn’t mean to offend. Good luck to you.” Daly has since spoken to GLAAD and followed his Tweeted apology with the following statement: We live in a time where gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals find courage every day to overcome adversity, stand up to bullying and find equality. I’m truly saddened that my words today suggested otherwise. I’ve long been a supporter of Gay and Lesbian rights, and I’m saddened that my comments, however unintentional, offended anyone, specifically members of the LGBT community. The fact that I have hurt anyone is devastating. I’m not that guy. I’m proud to be an ally of the LGBT community and will continue to fight with them.
