‘Secret Life’ Star Shailene Woodley Talks ‘Ups And Downs’ Of Season Four

Golden Globe-nominated actress also opens up about when she might be looking for her next movie role. By Christina Garibaldi Shailene Woodley Photo: MTV News Shailene Woodley has certainly been living a dream for the past few months. For her role in “The Descendents,” the young star not only got to play opposite George Clooney, but she was nominated for a Golden Globe and won an Independent Spirit Award. Not bad for her first movie role. And even though Woodley has had a few weeks to recover, she revealed she is still in awe of all the glitz and glamour that went into attending the big events. “Every single night you’d be at a different venue, every day you’d be at some fancy brunch, lunch or something and you’d be there and there’d be different lamp shades, different curtains, but you’d be sitting at the same table with the same exact people.” Woodley told MTV News. “So it was kind of great and you get to know everyone. It became a little family that migrated to different areas.” Woodley is now gearing up for the fourth season of her hit ABC Family series, “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.” Last season left off with Woodley’s character, Amy, accepting the proposal of her boyfriend and baby’s father, Ricky. Woodley admits that the couple will face some unexpected challenges as they deal with domestic life. “There’s a lot of ups and down,” Woodley said. “I mean, she’s living with Ricky full time, so I think anybody who is confined to a small space, there might be some disputes, they might be a little bit tormented by each other for a while. And they have a 2-year-old son, so I think just the drama and the hardships of raising a child at any age, but specifically as a 17- and 18-year-old, there’s a lot of difficulty in that, but they find a way to make it through it.” Will the newly engaged couple find themselves walking down the aisle soon? “I think definitely in the future. I don’t know about this season, they are in the future,” Woodley said. “There’s a lot of pressure on Amy coming from Ricky and her family as well to get married and to set a date. And for Amy, she really likes having the ring on her finger, I think for her it was a control thing. … She’s really in no rush to move on to anything big.” And it seems Woodley is in no rush to move on to her next movie role. The young actress is patiently waiting for the right script to come along. “I would love to do another movie, but until I read something I’m necessarily super passionate about I’m not going to jump in the wave and do a movie now,” Woodley said. “But I’d rather do a small, small role in an amazing movie than a big role in a not so great movie.” Are you excited for the season premiere of “Secret Life”? Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Culture War Update: Director Speaks Out, Title Cut in Half

After begging and pleading with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan community to please, please not engage in preemptive flame warfare over the rumors and vagaries surrounding the reboot of their beloved franchise, I now recognize the futility of my attempts at diplomacy. This comes after the film’s attached director Jonathan Liebesman — also of this week’s Wrath of the Titans and last year’s eminently regarded ( ahem ) Battle: Los Angeles — only complicated matters with his comments about the kerfuffle. And then there’s the movie’s reported name change. Liebesman toed the company line at last weekend’s Titans junket, urging TMNT devotees to calm down about producer Michael Bay’s proposed alien-turtle-ooze influence — which apparently “comes straight from the series.” I can’t believe I just wrote that, or this: “Look, it’s so funny — if everyone was such a die-hard fan, they would know that the TCRI canisters where the ooze comes from. That is alien ooze. Now I’m not saying what Michael said is exactly what the movie is, because we’re sitting in a room now figuring everything out. So we don’t know, but we are like Michael said: we’re expanding it, and the expansion will be true to the mythology. I promise you: fans will love it.” Even if those fans are to take Liebesman at his word, there’s also this reported nugget that no doubt have them soiling their Donatello jammies: Bleeding Cool has verified that the working title of the upcoming Paramount-Nickelodeon Turtle movie from producer Michael Bay and director Jonathan Libesman is going by the working title of Ninja Turtles . We know all too well where the “Mutant” bit went, but now it seems we’re also losing “Teenage.” We haven’t been able to get a definite statement as to why this title change is occurring, and our sources are not 100% clear on whether or not the Turtles will indeed be adolescents. One of our sources has said: “It seems to be driven by marketing. Think of John Carter and how Disney wouldn’t allow for a title with either ‘Princess’ or ‘Mars.'” Whatever. See you at the refugee camp! I hope they have wi-fi. [ Collider , Bleeding Cool via AICN ] Follow S.T. VanAirsdale on Twitter . Follow Movieline on Twitter .

‘Hunger Games’ Ignites Box Office: Experts Weigh In

One box-office watcher tells MTV News the book adaptation was ‘the hottest party around and nobody wanted to be left out.’ By Kevin P. Sullivan Wes Bentley as Seneca Crane in “The Hunger Games” Photo: Lionsgate We all knew “The Hunger Games” would debut to enormous opening-weekend numbers, but few could have predicted just how quickly the fire would spread. The YA adaptation opened to an incredible $155 million weekend, passing up “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” and “Spider-Man 3” to have the third-highest opening weekend behind “The Dark Knight” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.” Early predictions had “The Hunger Games” opening at a respectable $70 million, not even half the actual total and in range of this year’s “The Lorax,” another recent box-office surprise. As the release drew nearer, analysts bumped up the predicted total to a range of $125 million to $130 million. The reason for the initially low prediction lies with another YA series, according to Jeff Bock of Exhibitor Relations . “Many people were comparing this to the original ‘Twilight’ film, which grossed $69 million its opening weekend,” Bock said. “Even though the book series was a huge success, many other young adult novels have been translated to film recently and failed to produce the next ‘Harry Potter’ or ‘Twilight,’ so, as an unproven commodity, expectations were tempered a bit with ‘The Hunger Games.’ Even Lionsgate was estimating that the film would debut with a three-day weekend gross of $75 million earlier in the week; they certainly didn’t expect it to nearly eclipse that number on opening day.” Wanna win a Hunger Games special edition HP laptop from MTV News? Click here to enter! The strong push out of the gate came from a combination of an aggressive marketing campaign by Lionsgate and groundswell created by fans of Suzanne Collins’ best-selling books. Gitesh Pandya of Box Office Guru said it was a precise combination of those key factors that led to such an explosive opening weekend. “The record opening was driven by the loyal fanbase, which is humongous, along with a carefully crafted marketing push that intrigued them and also drew in new audiences in time for the movie’s release,” Pandya said. “Marketing was a key component to the massive debut, as the film wasn’t over-promoted to the point of repelling people. Lionsgate turned the opening weekend of ‘Hunger Games’ into the hottest party around and nobody wanted to be left out.” Lionsgate is certainly not wasting any time in trying to repeat the magic of their biggest hit to date. Production on the sequel, “Catching Fire,” is scheduled to begin this summer with a release tentatively set for November 2013. Pandya believes the next adventure of Katniss Everdeen could even go bigger. “Studios knew to stay out of the way of ‘Hunger Games,’ which is why no other film opened wide this weekend. But now they know how big of a juggernaut it is, and if history is any indicator, the opening of ‘Catching Fire’ will be even bigger in November 2013,” Pandya said. “And unless Disney changes its superhero date, we’re going to see a big-brother battle as Liam Hemsworth’s ‘Catching Fire’ will open just one week after Chris Hemsworth’s ‘Thor 2.’ ” What did you think of The Hunger Games? Emma Glover’s Boobs Are Two Tickets to Paradise [PICS]

You may not recognize Emma Glover ‘s face, but if you’ve seen the movie My Week with Marilyn (2011), you’ll certainly recognize her body. This stupendously stacked “glamour” (that’s British for “topless”) model has been baring her magnificent mammaries in skin mags for years, but doubling for Michelle Williams in Marilyn really thrust her into the spotlight. Now Emma is celebrating her recent success with a tropical vacation (at least we think that’s what’s going on here), and being a good sport she agreed to take a moment and show off the body that made her famous in the first place. Enduring a sandy snizz just to keep the fans happy-now that’s dedication. See more sexy pics of Emma Glover in paradise after the jump!

‘Hunger Games’ Strikes A ‘Perfect Balance,’ Experts Say

Three ‘HG’ webmasters break down film adaptation for MTV News. By Kara Warner Josh Hutcherson in “The Hunger Games” Photo: Lionsgate Did you know that “The Hunger Games” is finally out in theaters? That’s a rhetorical question — of course you did! We’ve all been following the hugely anticipated film since the beginning, and now we can bask in the glow of its predicted success and the general delight of fans everywhere , not to mention the very positive reviews . Now, MTV News turns to our most trusted “Hunger Games” experts to find out what they think about the adaptation: Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss “If anyone had any lingering doubts about whether our Oscar-nominated leading lady could do the role of Katniss Everdeen justice, those doubts took an arrow to the heart. There were a lot of standout moments in her performance — her soon to be iconic ‘I volunteer!,’ her emotional breakdown after the loss of Rue — but for me, the highest mark of Jen’s understanding of Katniss came at the end when ( spoiler ) she and fellow tribute Peeta are about to commit a double suicide on live TV. In that scene, everything we know about Katniss — her strength, her desire to protect the people she loves, her bravery and the first flicker of rebellion — show through. Unlike the lovelorn Peeta, who uses his final moments of life to appreciate the girl he loves, Katniss has eyes only for the Capitol, looking not at Peeta, but into one of the invisible cameras. This isn’t about love, it’s about survival, and Jen gets that.” — Shylah Addante, Down With the Capitol “Jennifer was fabulous! Every moment she was onscreen, which was a lot, was just phenomenal. She did a great job of showing how much Katniss cared about her family but was emotionally blank to everyone else.” — Jessica McKenna, The Hob “Jennifer as Katniss is beyond amazing. The depth in which she portrayed Katniss is unlike anything I’ve seen before. It was all about the subtle things Jennifer would do that made the biggest impact. Whether it was Jennifer visibly trembling right before the arena, getting this panicked look in her eyes when Prim’s name is called at the Reaping, her grief at the death of Rue or her look of defiance when giving the three-fingered salute to the people of District 11, I found myself feeling how Katniss must be feeling and left utterly speechless at Jennifer’s portrayal of this character. I’ve said it before, but I think it’s definitely worth saying again: Although this fandom doesn’t like to identify itself with teams, if I did have to pick, I would definitely be Team Katniss all the way.” — Sheila Cordero, HG Girl on Fire Josh Hutcherson as Peeta “Insofar as Jen is Katniss, Josh Hutcherson is Peeta. I believed everything he did was motivated by his character’s signature pure-of-heart naivet

‘Hunger Games’ Fans ‘Blown Away’ At Midnight Showing

Early reports predict midnight box-office totals of more than $18 million. By Kevin P. Sullivan, with reporting by Stacey Sommer Josh Hutcherson in “The Hunger Games” Photo: Lionsgate With midnight showings of “The Hunger Games” sold-out for weeks in advance, expectations for the highly anticipated film were even higher for those brave enough to journey to theaters in the middle of the night. Thankfully, Katniss Everdeen and the rest of the tributes did not disappoint. Early reports for the midnight box-office totals predict returns north of $18 million, according to Variety . Those figures put “The Hunger Games” in contention with “The Dark Knight” and “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” which earned $18.5 million and $22.2 million at midnight, respectively. Early predictions for the weekend total estimate “The Hunger Games” earning $125 million . MTV News caught some rabid fans on their way out of the first showings of “The Hunger Games” in New York City, and most of them couldn’t have been more pleased. Joanna Cruz said she was left “speechless” and was “on the edge of my seat the whole time.” Some took their praise ever further. Judith Cruz called it the “the best movie ever.” “I can’t wait to see it again,” she said. “It was awesome. I cried at certain parts.” Though most of the people we interviewed expressed their love of the movie as a whole, a few couldn’t help but point out that they missed some scenes that ended up on the cutting-room floor. “I loved it. I thought it was awesome,” Elena Lerner said. “It wasn’t completely true to the book — they left out a few scenes — but overall, we were both freaking out in our seats. It was so good.” Josh Solomon felt similarly. “I thought the film was very good, well done,” he said. “It missed a couple scenes from the book. It missed spots, but I thought it was done pretty well.” But for one fan in particular, the movie could never live up to the book. “I don’t know how I feel about it. When I read a book, I get very in-depth, and I felt like they missed a lot of what was in the book,” Samantha Cohen said. On the other hand, Esther Portyansky said that the movie was a reminder of why she liked the book so much in the first place. “It was incredible. I was absolutely blown away by it,” she said. “I read the books last summer, and I think I’d almost forgotten how amazing they were, frankly. The movie more than did it justice.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Hunger Games.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Robert Pattinson’s ‘Cosmopolis’ Trailer: Five Key Scenes

Pattinson shoots his own hand in the teaser, signaling a return to director David Cronenberg’s subversive roots. By Kevin P. Sullivan Photo: Alfama Films This year’s unlikely MTV Movie Brawl champion, “Cosmopolis,” doesn’t have a set release date for the U.S., but a foreign teaser trailer showed up online on Thursday (March 22). The adaptation of the Don DeLillo novel stars Robert Pattinson as a young multi-billionaire who tries to get a haircut, but ends up on a wild ride in his limousine instead. Canadian horror master David Cronenberg directed the film, and the (NSFW) 30-second trailer signals a return to his extremely subversive roots. So make no mistake: We’re not in Forks, Washington, anymore. Here are the five key scenes from the teaser trailer for “Cosmopolis.” Ready, aim … Well, you can never accuse the “Cosmopolis” trailer of misleading the viewer. The crazy begins as soon as the trailer starts, when a naked woman aims a laser-guided stun gun at Pattinson’s chest and he encourages her to shoot. It’s a move that says, “Listen, this movie and this trailer are going to be insane. Brace yourself. And Twilight fans, enjoy shirtless Edward while you can, because he’s about to get shot with a stun gun.” Fire! We never see the naked woman fire the stun gun at Pattinson, but immediately after, he takes a shot at his own hand with an actual gun. And we see everything. Cronenberg has never shied away from violence or graphic material in general, and the shot certainly reminds us of that. Considering the kind of gore on display in “A History of Violence” and “Eastern Promises,” a point-blank gunshot to the hand might be just the beginning. That poor woman! It’s bad enough that Pattinson’s character, Eric Packer, does all of these terrible things to himself, but the trailer gives us a glimpse of his wife, played by Sarah Gadon . Sure, it’s great that her husband looks like Robert Pattinson, but who wants to put up with the guy shooting himself in the hand and having sex in a limo with someone else? “Cosmopolis” marks Gadon’s second Cronenberg movie, having just starred alongside Michael Fassbender in “A Dangerous Method.” There’s a better place for that Yes, what you’re seeing would be a quick shot of Pattinson urinating in the back of his limousine. With so much of the action in “Cosmopolis” taking place over the course of a day, mostly within that car, you have to imagine that Eric’s going to have to relieve himself once in a while. You have to applaud Pattinson for taking on what looks like a fearless role after riding so long on a franchise that succeeded on its familiarity. And suddenly, a giant rat The easiest way to make a strange trailer even stranger? Throw in a giant rat. We’re not entirely sure what’s going on here, but it looks like a group of people are carrying a large, fake rodent through the middle of Times Square. Yeah, we don’t get it either.
