Kevin Smith Is Auctioning Off His Bluntman Costume and Other Memorabilia That Will Annoy Your Girlfriend

Kevin Smith’s attempt at do-it-yourself distribution method may be driving the filmmaker crazy but he is still determined for his fans to see his indie horror film Red State . Just how determined? The writer/director/producer is auctioning off over 300 pieces of movie memorabilia from his most popular films on April 10 to cover distribution costs. Ahead, some of Movieline’s favorite items from the lot.

Help Caption These Photos of Jesse Eisenberg Hang Gliding

If there was ever a perfect afternoon for a hang gliding lesson in Rio de Janeiro, it was today. At least that’s what new photos of Rio star Jesse Eisenberg suggest. The normally serious actor looks like he was having a ball learning valuable lessons of flight. Since Movieline HQ is in a “joining” mood this afternoon, let’s all throw on our best sporting helmet and glide through the jump to caption the hilarious/adorable full-size images.

Movieline’s Week in Review: Farewell, My Lovely

Our emotions got the best of us this week at Movieline HQ, where devastating losses, frightening feuds and more than a couple wild cultural developments took their tolls. But now it’s Friday, and we have weekend editor Dixon Gaines’s stabilizing influence to look forward to. Rejoice, and drop back by Saturday and Sunday as the healing begins. Have a good one!

Some Canadian Has a Better Charlie Sheen/Tiger Blood Tattoo Than You

My only quibble with Canadian tattoo artist Andrew Ottenhof’s tattoo of Charlie Sheen wearing a tiger head : Charlie looks a little more like his brother Emilio. Or Emilio’s friend Ally Sheedy. Or Jean-Claude Van Damme. In a bad mood. In the ’80s. Otherwise? Tragnifique!

With that, your Movieline staff leaves you the Week in Review, a collection of exemplary entertainment coverage and the bare minimum Beaver puns allowed by law. Dixon Gaines will take over bright and early on Saturday; please join him then, and have a great weekend!

Film Fest Pro Tips: Do Eat Bugs for Sport, Don’t Heckle Your Own Movie

As a bunch of brassy strippers once taught us, you’ve gotta have a gimmick if you want to get ahead. The same goes for dancers as it does for indie films, three of which demonstrated that time-tested lesson Monday night at SXSW. Which brings us to our Movieline Pro Tips of the Day: Bringing fun/hands-on props to delight the crowd after your movie screens can help the goodwill linger. Loudly heckling your own movie for kicks while a dozen or so journalist types sit near you, aghast and annoyed? Not so much.
