Movieline is (Still) Hiring!

Heads up, folks: We’re still looking to fill a Night Editor position (12:00 am – 9:00 am EDT shift), and would like to encourage applicants from overseas to apply. Being based in Europe might be the easiest, as the job requires blogging as well as original reporting and interviews — all of which are harder to do Stateside in the dead of night. We could use a New York-based intern as well. Inquire within!

Fixing The Marriage Ref for Season Two: A TVLine IM Discussion

Congratulations! We’re stuck with it. The Marriage Ref has been renewed for a second season, along with NBC’ s other weird, uncomfortable series Minute to Win It and Who Do You Think You Are . The decision did not sit well with Movieline’s TV scholars, who at one point used to enjoy Jerry Seinfeld and marriages. After the jump, Julie Miller and I diagnose The Marriage Ref ‘s problems and vote for major changes in the series’s second go-around.

Revealed: Your Raunchy Kate Winslet/Hugh Jackman Short-Film Spoiler

Well, that was fast. Not long after this afternoon’s teasing comments from Emma Stone about the top-shelf raunch in Hugh Jackman and Kate Winslet’s segment of Untitled Comedy , along comes a Movieline reader in the know with what to expect from the five-minutes short. And I have to admit: Even after bouncing a few hundred depraved possibilities around the Movieline water cooler, I’m not sure anyone here would have come up with this one any time soon. Click through for the brief, spoilerrific explanation:

Say Whaaaa? Spielberg Has Asperger’s, Rip is Innocent, and More of the Week’s Most Unbelievable Crap

Everyone at Movieline HQ can’t wait to hightail it to the holiday weekend, but we had to wait for the Say Whaaaa? Singers to drop in from Good Friday mass before anyone could head out. Thankfully, they’ve arrived, and they’ve brought their incredulity at this week’s most insane, outrageous and otherwise head-exploding news items with them. Let’s make this quick, fellas; we’ve got Peeps to eat.

Drink Up with this Exclusive Clip from The Good Heart, Starring Brian Cox and Paul Dano

It’s the end of the week and you’re ready for a drink, no? Still, it’s a bit early in the day, so why don’t you get your alcohol-related ya-yas out via Movieline’s exclusive clip from The Good Heart , released today on video-on-demand and in theaters on April 30. It’s a fitting introduction to the dive bar that’s the focus of the film, a gritty place owned by Jacques (Brian Cox), who’s grooming the homeless Lucas (Paul Dano) to take it over. You’ll learn the rules of this particular establishment: dogs are permitted (as long as they can hold their own in a staring contest), but new customers are not, especially when they’re looking for organic ingredients in their Bloody Marys. You’ve been warned!

Splice Trailer: Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley Make a Murderous Baby Together

“Hey, there’s a new Splice trailer,” I said today to my Movieline comrade-in-arms, who had caught the film back at Sundance. “That movie is f***ing disgusting,” he replied. Between that recommendation and this clip, I think I’m starting to get excited.

The South Park Casualty Count: ‘Medicinal Fried Chicken’

Last week on South Park , Cartman and the gang ridiculed literary censorship by penning the most vile book in history and this week, Cartman and Randy went to extraordinary lengths for some crispy fried chicken and Rainy Day Woman after the town turned its only KFC into a medicinal marijuana dispensary. After the jump, Movieline tallies the victims from last night’s episode, which managed to combine a Scarface homage, hippity-hop testes and the image of Cartman snorting a line of KFC gravy. And Pope Benedict, if you are reading this, you might not want to click through.
