NEWS // Diddy Says He’s ‘The Champion Of Hip-Hop’

Diddy is the cover boy for XXL Magazine’s June 2010 cover. This marks the very first time Diddy will appear on the cover of XXL.This in itself is very interesting considering that XXL has been gracing newsstands since 1997. Anyhow, it isn’t Diddy’s appearance on the cover that is worth posting on, though he is quite the sight to see. It is what he says that may raise a few eyebrows. When discussing his worth to Hip-Hop, Diddy says: “I am the champion of hip-hop,” Diddy says in the story. “Hands down, undisputed, I’m the undisputed heavyweight champion of hip-hop. We are going to have to deal with those facts. There is nobody that can fuck with me with what I do, which is getting busy. We are going across the board, as an entrepreneur, innovator, motivator. Who was there first? Who traveled to Europe first? The first. The first. The first. The first. I was the first.” {Source} At least he thinks highly of himself… Without a doubt, Diddy has pioneered a few new sounds in Hip-Hop not to mention fashion trends…shiny suits anyone? Dubbing himself the champion of Hip-Hop sounds a little like he’s patting himself on the back a bit too hard. I would think that if a person were to give themselves that title hey would be an all-around artist which also includes penning their own

Diddy Wanted to Play Football, Found Music Instead

If plan A doesn’t work out, go to plan B. And plan B may someday make you millions. Sean “Diddy” Combs sat down with James Lipton from Bravo’s Inside The Actor’s Studio on Tuesday  night. Diddy reveals that he had dreams to play professional football until he injured his leg in his late high school years.  He said: It broke my heart, I had to learn at a young age that things happen and sometimes your dreams get deferred, and you don’t have to give up your dreams. He also discussed how he got where he is today, losing his father at the age of three, and discovering his father’s notorious past. Originally, Diddy knew nothing about his father’s past. His mother, Janis , told him that his father died in a car accident.  But Diddy did his own research. He said: “I went to the library to go through the microfilm and I searched my father and it came up that they had called him a ‘Kingpin’ in Harlem and that he was killed on Central Park West. He had got shot in his head, that’s how I found out about my father.” Diddy was devastated. His mother raised him alone and inspired him to work hard and become successful. Because he wanted to make her proud, he pursued his education at Howard University .   Diddy became a music executive at Uptown Records while he was still attending school. He decided to leave school and focus on the music industry. I guess that was the right choice because look at where he is today. See, I like this story. Say what you want about Diddy , but he earned his dues.  He saw the light at the end of the tunnel and it made him millions and millions of dollars. Boy, let me find that tunnel. Diddy Says ‘Hello, Good Morning’ To ‘Good Morning America’

But the multi-hyphenate entertainer still has more energy than most, as he showed when he and his Diddy-Dirty Money collective took to the stage early Friday morning (June 4) for the “Good Morning America” Summer Concert Series in Manhattan’s Central Park. “I wanna thank y’all for coming out, New York,” Diddy told the gathered crowd during a commercial break. “I know you got work [to go to].” The Bad Boy Records mogul performed his latest single, “Hello, Good Morning,” sans featured guests Rick Ross and T.I. Backed by Dawn Richards and Kaleena, Diddy was upbeat and energetic at an hour when most New Yorkers were sipping their first cup of coffee. “How fly is he/ Your baby mama cry for me like Jodeci,” Diddy rapped over the frenzied track. “So how you not notice me/ Pull up to the club in the coldest V.” Later, he delivered a medley of his past hits, including “Last Night,” “All About the Benjamins” and “Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems.” Diddy’s long-in-the-works album, Last Train to Paris, is set for a June 28 release at midnight following the BET Awards. The music magnate told “GMA hosts Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos that his ” Train music” is “constantly progressive.” Recently, Diddy explained the project was more R&B-based than electro-infused as many had initially believed. The album’s love story is what drives the bulk of the collection, he said. “One of the things we’re trying to represent is emotion,” Diddy told MTV News late last year. “Not being afraid to show emotion on record. A lot of records out right now — no disrespect to them, but they’re all surface. It’s about what people have, or a dance. “All our records are gonna be about love, feelings and emotion,” Diddy continued. ” Last Train to Paris is a love story, and the most vulnerable album I’ve ever been involved in. It’s raw emotion — you get a feeling, a vibe.” What did you think about Diddy’s “GMA” performance? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Diddy-Dirty Money Diddy
