American Horror Story Recap: Where Are the Witches?!

The latest installment of American Horror Story: Apocalypse was heavy on the rubber, but light on the witches.  We kicked things off with Michael Langdon parading around Outpost 3 with hair that looks very similar to what his mother had all those years ago.  He wasted no time in asserting his power in the lair, and Venable was livid. If you watch American Horror Story online, you know that Venable had a lot of rules about sleeping arrangements.  Primarily, she did not want anyone in the Outpost sleeping with each other. For those at home yelling about how it won’t be possible to repopulate the Earth, we hear you.  Timothy and Emily decided they wanted to have fun, and by that, they wanted to sleep with each other. It’s the end of the world, so why not? They weren’t buying what Venable was selling about abstinence, so they broke into Michael’s room and found a conveniently placed laptop.  There, they found emails between Michael and The Cooperative. That’s when they found out that Venable was lying about not having sexual contact.  Venable was furious when the two teenagers went forward and had sex with each other. Venable ordered their deaths, but Timothy and Ash fought back.  Miriam wound up shot, but there was something amiss with her flesh. Is she even a real person?  As for Michael, he had a lot of sexual chemistry with Mr. Gallant, so much so that it seemed he was dressing up as the Rubber Man from Murder House and having sex with him.  But Michael was adamant he was not the one dressing up, and that he should try to find out the truth on his own.  Evie, Mr. Gallant’s mother, witnessed the sex between him and the Rubber Man and took the news to Miriam and Venable.  The pair tried to whip him to get the answers, but they realized when they looked down that he was getting off on the pain.  In a truly stunning shock, the Rubber Man showed up again, but Mr. Gallant opted to stab him because he was done with the mind games.  That’s when we learned that Evie had been body-swapped and was dead at the hands of her grandson. Well, at least she won’t be ratting on him any longer.  Elsewhere, Michael confronted Venable for lying to everyone about the rules, but Venable was not ready to back down.  She said that she was sent the rules, and she was following them. However, she did not have a copy of them at hand for Michael to cast his eye on.  Michael said that he was the one who sent the rules, calling her bluff. Oh, yes, there’s a power struggle between these two, and we’re all in for it.  View Slideshow: Grey’s Anatomy Spoilers: It’s About to Go DOWN in Season 15 While the episode had a lot of action, the preview for it claimed the witches would make their entrance into Outpost 3.  That did not happen, and the only excuse for that is that FX was trying to stop the typical week two drop the franchise has been known for.  What are your thoughts on this installment?  Hit the comments below.  American Horror Story continues Wednesday on FX!

Trial For Cop Who Killed Laquan McDonald Has Jury Largely Made Up Of Whites

Go here to read the rest:

A s the murder trial for Jason Van Dyke for killing 17-year-old Laquan McDonald gets underway in Chicago, prosecutors and defense lawyers are arguing over jury selection. Specifically, prosecutors have reportedly claimed that African Americans are being excluded from the jury. RELATED: Chicago Cop Who Killed Laquan McDonald Finally Faces Justice So far, the trial has only one African-American juror, who was chosen Wednesday (Sept. 12). The juror is a Black woman who appears to be in her 50s and works at Fed-Ex, according to the Chicago Tribune . However, half of the jury is white, while three are Latino, one Black and one person of Asian descent. In a case that has produced national unrest and dialogues over police brutality being motivated by racial bias, communities of color are watching this trial. Racial tensions surfaced during jury selection in the murder trial of Chicago police Officer Jason Van Dyke Wednesday as prosecutors accused the defense of systematically removing black people — and the defense accused prosecutors of booting whites. https://t.co/tSYGZ6k31g pic.twitter.com/RNVNbEnvRv — Chicago Tribune (@chicagotribune) September 13, 2018 A conviction rests on a jury or judge in the case, with the defenses also able to choose a bench trial before the swearing-in of a 12th juror. As of now, prosecutors have focused on jury selection, saying that African Americans are being systemically kept away from the case. Defense lawyers struck Black jurors from the case during two trial days, the Tribune reported. Defense lawyers have disputed the prosecutors’ argument, creating a counter-narrative that white men have been booted from the jury. Activists and communities of color have protested for justice for McDonald, pushing for a trial which could lead to a first-degree murder conviction for Van Dyke. The former Chicago Police Department officer fatally shot McDonald 16 times in 2014, and cops released the shooting video in 2015 after a court order. The CPD faced allegations of covering up the shooting, with their account contradicting what dashboard camera video showed was McDonald trying to walk away from Van Dyke. The former officer is on trial for six counts of first-degree murder, 16 counts of aggravated battery and one count of official misconduct in McDonald’s death. XXXTentacion: Four Suspects Indicted in Rapper’s Murder

It’s hard to believe that it’s been more than a month since XXXTentacion was shot dead in Miami . Earlier this month, police found one of XXXTentacion’s killers . Though police do not yet have all of the suspects in custody, prosecutors are moving forward. They have already issued indictments. Let’s take a look at the details. One of the alleged shooters was Michael Boatright, who was arrested earlier this month. Trayvon Newsome is believed by police to have been the toher trigger man. Newsome is currently wanted by police. Two other suspects are Dedrick Williams, who is in custody, and Robert Allen, for whom police are still searching. TMZ reports that all four suspects in XXXTentacion’s murder were indicted by a grand jury  On top of the obvious murder charge, all four men are also charged with armed robbery using a firearm. According tot he Associated Press, Dedrick Williams was spotted on surveillance cameras and identified. Though fearful of being labeled a snitch in prison for speaking to police, he did tell investigators that he did not know in advance that XXXTentacion would be robbed. It was apparently Boatright and Newsome who carried out the actual robbery, or so investigators have been told. Of course, felony murder rules mean that co-conspirators in crimes that result in murder are all indicted for murder, regardless of which individual did the killing. XXXTentacion had been looking at motorcycles just before he was shot to death in an apparent armed robbery. The rapper was only 20 years old, and had some very passionate young fans. He also apparently acted as something of a mentor to younger people in the business. 14-year-old Danielle Bregoli, who launched her record-breaking music career after insulting Dr. Phil on television, felt a very close bond to XXXTentacion. Their last conversation, just days before his death, was an argument in which she told him that she never wanted to speak with him again. Danielle will always regret her final words to him , she says. XXXTentacion was also infamous for an alleged beating of a gay man, and for being accused of horribly abusing his girlfriend Geneva Ayala to the point that she had to have reconstructive surgery on her face due to damage to her skull. The shocking descriptions of what is said to have done to her during their relationship amount to torture. Unfortunately, because of this, his ex is reviled by some of his more ardent fans. Though his abused girlfriend just wants him to rest in peace , some fans objected to her presence at a vigil for him, and kicked her out. Afterwards, they burned what she had left in his memory. XXXTentacion continues to be mourned by many of his fans. Some of them are so young that this he is the first celebrity musician whom they’ve lost. Some say that a video made shortly before the rapper’s passing predicted his own death . In fact, some sources even say that XXXTentacion talked about wanting to die young like some of the great rappers of the ’90s. Hopefully, the people who were in his life will get a sense of closure once his murder trial draws to a close. For now, it is just beginning.
