Whitey Bulger Witness Found Dead; Stephen "Stippo" Rakes Was 59

Stephen “Stippo” Rakes, a possible witness in the murder trial of alleged crime boss James “Whitey” Bulger, has been found dead, reports indicate. The body of Rakes, 59, showed “no obvious signs of trauma” and an autopsy is being done to determine the cause of death, officials said. The corpse was found yesterday at 1:30 p.m., police said. Rakes had been eager to testify that Bulger threatened his family at gunpoint and forced him to turn his liquor store into a front for the Winter Hill Gang. But earlier this week, prosecutors informed Rakes he would not be called to testify, a decision that left him “despondent,” a source close to his family said. The judge overseeing the Whitey Bulger trial hunkered down with lawyers in a confidential conference at the courthouse today where the trial is being held. Bulger, 84, alleged to be a notorious and murderous crime boss and federal informant, is standing trial after being found on the lam in California in 2011. Rakes was to testify that Bulger and Stephen Flemmi threatened his daughter at gunpoint, and took over his South Boston liquor store for Bulger’s headquarters. However, Bulger sidekick Kevin Weeks testified last week that Rakes’ contention that Bulger’s gang put a gun to his daughter’s head was bogus. News of his death investigation came on the same day that Stephen “The Rifleman” Flemmi was slated to take the stand against Bulger as well. The two men ran the Winter Hill Gang for decades while also working as informants for the FBI, according to prosecutors and courtroom testimony. Police told the Rakes family the death appeared to be a suicide. However, a source close to the Rakes family told ABC News early Thursday that “he had no phone, no wallet, and police are still looking for his car.” The body was positively identified as Rakes this morning. Rakes’ longtime friend Steve Davis, whose sister Debbie was allegedly murdered by Bulger, had met him for breakfast daily before court. Davis said he last saw Rakes Tuesday in court but then couldn’t reach him all night Tuesday and yesterday he did not meet him in the courthouse. “Stippo would not kill himself. Absolutely not,” Davis told ABC News. “He was looking forward to taking the stand. He told me over and over he had a big bombshell to drop. “He had everything to live for and was looking forward to his day in court.” Davis – who lost his sister, brother and father to homicide, and whose daughter was killed in a drunk driver accident – was devastated by the news. “It doesn’t make sense,” Davis said.

And Another One… 76-Year-Old Milwaukee Man Set To Face Trial For Murking Innocent 13-Year-Old Black Neighbor He Thought Was A Thief

We hope and pray the jury gets it right this time! It’s been over a year since we first told you about the shooting death of 13-year-old Darius Simmons , but now that the trial of his alleged killer is set to start this week we are hopeful his family will see some justice at last. Via NY Daily News reports : A trial for a 76-year-old man accused of shooting to death his 13-year-old neighbor in front of his mother in Milwaukee is set to begin this week in a polarizing case that some say was misplaced vigilante justice. A national field director for Rev. Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow PUSH Coalition said in Wisconsin last year that the shooting of Darius Simmons, 13, was “vigilantism and rogue police behavior” in a similar vein to the killing in Florida of Trayvon Martin, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. George Zimmerman was acquitted in that case over the weekend. Both cases involved an older man allegedly killing a black teen the shooter believed was suspicious. In Milwaukee, police say John Henry Spooner shot Simmons, his next door neighbor, last May after accusing the boy of stealing $3,000 worth of guns from his home. The teen, who had lived with his mother next door to Spooner for only a month, was taking out the trash around 10:00 a.m. when Spooner accused the boy of the theft and demanded he return the shotguns. The boy told Spooner he had not stolen the guns and his mother, Patricia Larry, told the elderly man to go back inside. Spooner then pulled out a handgun and shot Simmons in the chest from only five feet away, killing the boy. “I condemn in the strongest words possible the murder of Darius Simmons,” Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett said after the shooting. “To have a boy who’s taking out the garbage at 10:30 in the morning murdered should shock the conscience of the state.” Spooner allegedly told arriving officers “Yeah, I shot him.” The elderly man allegedly complained to a local politician about being frustrated over the police response to his report of the theft. He’d been burglarized in the past, the Sentinel reported. The man was described as a good neighbor, but in December, 2006, police seized 16 guns from his home after he was accused of hosting a felon at his residence. The eight rifles, four shotguns and four handguns were later returned to Spooner. He allegedly shot Simmons on May 31, 2012, in front of at least two witnesses. The trial has been twice delayed and was scheduled to begin Monday. His defense plans to claim Spooner is not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect. If convicted of first-degree intentional homicide, Spooner faces life in prison. “My son, Darius Simmons, was shot and killed in front of me,” Larry, his mother, told the Sentinel in May after the trial was delayed for a second time. “It’s affected me, my friends, my work.” At least in this case there are eyewitnesses and a confession. Anna Benson: Implicated in 1996 Murder?

Reality star Anna Benson is in jail in Marietta, Ga., for allegedly breaking into her estranged husband’s home and threatening him with a gun . It turns out this is not the ex-stripper’s first run-in with the law. In 1996, Anna Benson (then Anna Warren) lived in a rundown Tennessee apartment that was adorned with satanic graffiti and anti-police messages. At 19, Anna was reportedly the subject of a sweeping manhunt after an 18-year-old man named Michael Evans was murdered in that apartment. The newspaper reports that the troubled youngster fled town when she and then boyfriend Paul Dejongh were charged with the murder of Evans. She was captured five months later and charges against her were eventually dropped, the New York Daily News reports, citing court records. “She got away with murder ,” Evans’ father, Michael Evans Sr., said. The same year her charges were dropped, Anna reportedly met MLB pitcher Kris Benson at the strip club she worked at, and the two wed in 1999. Things worked out pretty well for a time, but in 2012, Kris filed for divorce and the two have been struggling through their messy split ever since. Their arguing reached a boiling point last week when Anna was arrested on after she allegedly modeled a bulletproof vest and burst into Kris’ home. According to a police, Anna smashed his computer with a metal baton and wore an ammo belt, which police later found when they searched her. They also found that she had a knife with her. Kris claims Anna made it known she had a gun and demanded he pay her $30,000. He appeased her by claiming he was going to get the money. At that point he escaped and called police. Kris currently has custody of the couple’s three children, and, according to reports, he also helped her raise her daughter from a previous marriage.

They Don’t Really Care About US: Jury Finds George Zimmerman Not Guilty On Every Count In Murder Of Trayvon Martin

WTF is George Zimmerman smiling about??? Via CNN reports : George Zimmerman is not guilty of the murder of Trayvon Martin, a Florida jury decided late Saturday. The fact that Zimmerman fired the bullet that killed Martin was never in question, but the verdict means the six-person jury had reasonable doubt that the shooting amounted to a criminal act. The verdict caps a case that has inflamed passions for well over a year, much of it focused on race and gun rights. The six-person jury — all women — basically had three choices: to find Zimmerman guilty of second-degree murder; to find him guilty of the lesser charge of manslaughter; or to find him not guilty. The jurors deliberated for 16½ hours total, including 13 on Saturday alone, before delivering its verdict. Zimmerman smiled and then shook his lawyer’s hands when he learned his fate. His parents, Robert and Gladys Zimmerman, were seated nearby, but Martin’s parents were not in the courtroom. Earlier in the day, the jury had asked the court for clarification on its instructions regarding manslaughter. The jury couldn’t have even posed such a query a few days ago: Judge Nelson ruled Thursday, over the defense’s vehement objection, to include manslaughter as an option for jurors, in addition to a second-degree murder charge. The question — the jurors’ first since late Friday afternoon, when they requested an inventory of evidence — was read out in court shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday. After a brief discussion between lawyers and the judge, the court recessed for about 40 minutes. When it reconvened, shortly before the judge announced the jury had ordered dinner, prosecutors and defense lawyers agreed to a response to the jury’s question — basically asking for more detail. “The court cannot engage in general discussions but may be able to address a specific question regarding clarification of the instructions regarding manslaughter,” their response to the jury says. “If you have a specific question, please submit it.” Manslaughter, under Florida law, is “the killing of a human being by the act … of another, without lawful justification … and in cases in which such killing shall not be excusable homicide or murder.” It is a second-degree felony. According to the jury instructions, Zimmerman could be convicted of manslaughter if jurors believe he “intentionally committed an act or acts that caused the death of Trayvon Martin.” “George Zimmerman cannot be guilty of manslaughter by committing a merely negligent act or if the killing was either justifiable or excusable homicide,” the instructions add. “Each of us has a duty to act reasonably toward others. If there is a violation of that duty, without any conscious intention to harm, that violation is negligence.” To convict Zimmerman of second-degree murder, the jury would have to believe that “there was an unlawful killing of Trayvon Martin by an act imminently dangerous to another and demonstrating a depraved mind without regard for human life.” Such a killing would have to be “done from ill will, hatred, spite or an evil intent” and would be “of such a nature that the act itself indicates an indifference to human life.”

Put On Blast: Aaron Hernandez Allegedly Confessed To Killing Odin Lloyd According To Witness In New Police Document

Isht just keeps getting worse for Aaron . Police Document Says Aaron Hernandez Confessed To Killing Odin LLoyd It’s sad this young man had to lose his life over mouthing off. What’s that old saying? What’s done in the dark will come to the light. Aaron, homie you need to resurrect Johnnie Cochran and the dream team to get you out of this. According to TMZ Ex-New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez CONFESSED that he fired the shots that killed Odin Lloyd … this according to a police document that cites a witness … who cites another witness. OK, so it’s a confession that’s 3 degrees removed from Aaron Hernandez … but cops in Miramar, Florida believed the tip was good enough to bring to a judge in an effort to get a search warrant connected with the investigation. First, some background — prosecutors in the murder case believe Carlos Ortiz and Ernest Wallace were with Hernandez when Lloyd was murdered. Both Ortiz and Wallace are currently in custody. Now, according to documents filed by the Miramar Police Dept., Ortiz told investigators … that Wallace, told him … that Hernandez told him that he shot Lloyd. You follow that? It’s double hearsay, to say the least … but with life sentences on the line, it might not be the last time these guys (allegedly) point the finger at each other. For his part, Hernandez insists he’s not guilty. He’ll be playing plenty of football with some ninja name Big Bubba in jail, (wink wink). Do you think he can beat the charge? Continue reading
