Sarah Palin’s video response to the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords prompted a strong backlash from some members of America’s Jewish community. Why? The former Alaska Governor accused the media of manufacturing a “blood libel” that only incites the hatred and violence they condemn. Fair enough, except … “Blood libel” is a term apparently dating back to the Middle Ages, referring to a prejudice that Jewish people used Christian blood during religious rituals. David Harris of the National Democratic Jewish Council said that instead of dialing down the rhetoric, Palin “chose to accuse others trying to sort out the meaning of this tragedy of somehow engaging in a ‘blood libel’ against her and others.” Harris called the repeated fiction of blood libels “directly responsible for the murder of so many Jews across centuries – and given that blood libels are so intertwined with deeply ingrained anti-Semitism around the globe, even today.” He wasn’t alone in echoing this sentiment. “The term ‘blood libel’ is not a synonym for ‘false accusation,'” added Simon Greer of Jewish Funds for Justice. “It refers to a specific falsehood perpetuated by Christians about Jews for centuries” that sparked violence and discrimination. “Unless someone has been accusing Ms. Palin of killing Christian babies and making matzoh from their blood, her use of the term is totally out of line.” U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona, who was shot in the head (allegedly by Jared Lee Loughner ) and remained in critical condition, is Jewish. Criticism over her crosshairs map that infamously targeted Giffords during the 2010 elections prompted the comments by Sarah today (below). We told you this brotha looked a bit “off” : The former boyfriend of a missing Las Vegas showgirl has been arrested for murder. The arrest of Jason “Blu” Griffith comes after much doubt had been cast on him considering the couple’s often tumultuous relationship, and nearly a month since Debbie Flores-Narvaez, 31, vanished without a trace after last being seen at Griffith’s home on Dec. 12. Flores-Narvaez’s body was recovered in downtown Los Angeles, although police are mum on where and when the discovery was made. Three days after she was allegedly at his home, Flores-Narvaez’s car was found abandoned in a Northwest Las Vegas neighborhood, its license plates removed. Griffith, 32, is being held without bail in the Clark County Detention Center, jail records show. The brunette beauty worked in several of Las Vegas’s top nightclubs after following her dream to be a trained dancer. She previously studied law and business, her family said, and she was also a cheerleading ambassador for the Washington Redskins football team. Prior to her disappearance, Flores-Narvaez sent an ominous text to her mother. “In case there is ever an emergency with me, contact Blu Griffith in Vegas,” the text sent on Dec. 1 read. “My ex-boyfriend. Not my best friend.” “It was a rocky relationship,” Celeste Narvaez-Flores told PEOPLE after her sister went missing. “A lot of ups and downs.” Last October, Griffith, also Las Vegas entertainer, was arrest for domestic violence and formally charged with coercion following a confrontation with his ex-girlfriend. A preliminary hearing is set for April on the coercion charge. Police did not immediately return calls. The attorney retained by Griffith on the coercion charge said he could not speak about the murder arrest since he has not yet been formally brought on to represent Griffith on the case. In light of the murder charge, Celeste Narvaez-Flores told PEOPLE, “I don’t want to react until I talk to the police face to face and hear what it is that they need to tell me.” SMH. R.I.P. Source

They just need to let poor MJ rest in peace: Michael Jackson killed himself with a lethal dose of the hospital anaesthesia Propofol, it has been claimed. Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney David Walgren claimed lawyers for Dr Conrad Murray, who is accused of involuntary manslaughter in relation to Jackson’s death, plan to use the theory as the main part of his defense. Walgren’s statement came at a hearing yesterday where a lawyer for Dr Murray clashed with the prosecutor over who should test residue from two syringes found in Jackson’s bedroom. He said: ‘I do think it’s clear the defense is operating under the theory that the victim, Michael Jackson, killed himself. ‘They don’t want to say it but that’s the direction in which they are going.’ Defense attorney J. Michael Flanagan said a huge amount of the anaesthetic Propofol was found in Jackson’s body, but his client has said he gave him only 25 milligrams of the drug. Mr. Walgren suggested the defense will claim Jackson killed himself by injecting more of the drug into himself. It is understood that Dr Murray’s lawyers will claim that the star woke up while his physician was out of the room for two minutes in the toilet and administered a lethal dose of the drug himself. A preliminary hearing in the case begins next Tuesday when Judge Michael Pastor will decide whether the prosecution has a strong enough case to support the unusual charge that Dr Murray was criminally responsible for the king of pop’s death in June 2009. As many as 30 witnesses are expected to be called during the two week hearing. Although the defense won’t be putting its case, it is thought highly likely that the judge will find that the American cardiologist will have to go to trial. Dr. Murray, 52, faces up to four years in prison if he is convicted. Reports in the US have suggested that the doctor’s lawyers will argue that the singer injected Propofol himself using an intravenous drip, causing a massive heart attack. He then supposedly dropped the bottle on the floor. When the doctor came back into the room he tried CPR in a desperate attempt to revive Jackson. An autopsy later showed the heart attack was caused by a fatal dose of Propofol, a drug Jackson used to help with his chronic insomnia. Mr Flanagan said a broken syringe was found on the bedroom floor in addition to a syringe in an intravenous medication bag. He also revealed that a fingerprint found on the broken syringe hasn’t been identified. Source

SMH: Shady Doctor’s Lawyers Say Michael Jackson “Killed Himself” With Propofol
Remember the story last week about the black woman’s body found in a suitcase? Well they caught that shady f*ck: An East Harlem man was charged with murder last night after he was caught on video disposing of a woman’s body stuffed inside a suitcase , police sources said. Hassan Malik (pictured), 55, who has a long rap sheet for burglary and drugs, copped to the strangulation slaying, the sources said. He claimed in his confession that he paid the victim, Betty Williams, for sex and afterwards, he noticed she was taking more money, so he killed her, other law enforcement sources said. When Malik walked out of the 23rd Precinct stationhouse early today he told reporters he was “sorry” for what he did. The break in the murder came after a tipster saw the chilling video that shows the alleged assailant wheeling a suitcase to a spot on East 114th Street near First Avenue. Williams, 28, who has 14 arrests, mostly for drugs, was found fully clothed inside the suitcase on Dec. 22 by a neighborhood resident who opened the bag and saw a leg pop out. SMH…damn he could’ve handled that situation a little better than killing that poor hooker and stuffing her body in a suitcase! R.I.P. Source
