T hroughout her career journey, Shonda Rhimes has continued to set the bar high in the entertainment industry. She is the first Black woman to develop and executive produce a Top 10 network series and she is continuing to make historic moves. According to the Huffington Post , Rhimes’ show Grey’s Anatomy hit a major milestone, becoming the longest-running medical drama in U.S. television history. “A lot has happened in 332 episodes and tomorrow we become the longest-running primetime medical drama,” she wrote. “People. You don’t want to miss this!” https://t.co/YQbq3bbf88 — HuffPost BlackVoices (@blackvoices) February 28, 2019 On Thursday, when the show aired its 332nd episode, it took the title away from ER which ran for 15 seasons and had a total of 331 episodes. The current cast of Grey’s Anatomy features actors Jesse Williams , Ellen Pompeo and Justin Chambers . The show made its debut in 2005 and has been going strong ever since. “I wanted to see people on television who look like me, and I wanted to see people on television who look like my friends. And I didn’t relate to a lot of the women on television because they didn’t seem realistic. It was just about writing people I wanted to watch, and writing people who felt like the people I knew. That’s what we ended up doing,” said Rhimes in an interview with Business Insider . She also added that it’s important to authentically bring narratives to life when working in television and not chase trends. “The goal is to make sure it’s not a trend. I don’t know what I can do to encourage it. I tell the stories I tell and I do it naturally.” Rhimes has seen success with many of the projects that she’s created including Private Practice , Scandal , and How to Get Away with Murder . In 2017, she inked a multi-year deal with Netflix where through her Shondaland production company she will develop eight series. Source: Feifei Cui-Paoluzzo / Getty Church Posts Sign About “Immigration Laws” In Heaven And Hell A church in Arkansas is facing a ton of criticism after posting a sign that reads, “Heaven Has Strict Immigration Laws, Hell Has Open Borders.” According to reports from FOX 35 , the community is not happy with Springdale Apostolic Church and their hateful message, especially since the area has a large Hispanic population. But according to the people in charge at the church, they say the message is biblical, not political. Assistant Pastor Michael Pennington says that his wife is the one who came up with the concept. “My wife actually came up with it before anyone else,” said Pennington. “The reason we put that sign up was to tell everybody it is not easy to make heaven. If you read scriptures, it tells them the road to hell is wide and broad, but the road to heaven is narrow and straight.” He also added that several church members praised him for the idea and supposedly did not see the message as political at all. “Every nationality of people saying we know this is a biblical meaning, we know what the meaning was behind us, we read the Bible, we know what you’re getting at.” Even though the church insists their message was solely biblical and had nothing to do with actual immigration laws, an apology was issued and Pennington said in a statement on Monday that anyone is welcomed to their church. A #church in #Arkansas incurred backlash after putting up a sign they insist was meant to be biblical, and not in any way political. “Heaven has strict immigration laws,” the sign read. “Hell has open borders.” https://t.co/yli71fI7DI pic.twitter.com/6wUEQu52At — FOX 7 Austin (@fox7austin) March 2, 2019
Source: Capelle.r / Getty Man Charged With Murdering Wife After Stabbing Her With Corn Rake A man in Iowa has been accused of fatally stabbing his own wife with a corn rake after learning she had a couple of secret affairs. 39-year-old Amy Mullis was found dead on November 10 at her farm, about four miles northwest of Earlville. Authorities initially said that the woman has been fatally injured in a fall, which came after her husband Todd Mullis told 911 that no one saw anything that happened. But this whole incident being an accident was ruled out in December, when an autopsy showed that the woman had six puncture wounds, and the manner of her death was thus listed as a homicide. Police have now formally charged Mullis with the murder of his wife. Investigators told People that the woman was concerned that her husband could kill her due to their marital problems. “You’ll know Todd did something to me,” she allegedly told one friend. Mullis initially told the police that their son is the one who found his wife impaled on the corn rake and that he removed it and started driving her to the hospital. According to the outlet, authorities learned that the couple, who had three children, had been experiencing marital problems after Amy was caught cheating with another man. In the lead-up to her death, their relationship went from bad to worse and they even stopped sharing the same bed. Delaware County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said the wife’s second lover was interviewed and said the woman was “scared to death” of him. “If he catches me, he might make me disappear,” she allegedly told him. Another clue that lead police toward charging Mullis is that he also allegedly researched the murder beforehand, searching for “organs in the body,” “killing unfaithful women” and “what happened to cheating spouses in historic Aztec tribes,” according to the police. Todd Mullis is currently being held on $5 million cash bail and faces life in prison.
Source: George Doyle / Getty 16-year old Alexander Bishop was arrested on Friday for the murder of his real estate developer father, William Bishop, who was found strangled with a dog leash. Alexander initially staged his dad’s April 2018 death to appear as a suicide, telling Durham County police that he had found his dad unresponsive in their basement with a dog leash wrapped three times around his neck and the dog still attached. Dad was found dead with a dog leash on his neck. Now his son is charged with murder. https://t.co/G2x8m9k0d0 pic.twitter.com/ZiMboCrz8Z — Popular Crime (@popular_crime) February 23, 2019 He added that his father had just gone through a divorce and was having issues with his new girlfriend. When police arrived at their North Carolina home, they found William in a chair unresponsive, without a leash around his neck. They also found 25 pieces of gold valued around $463,000 in his office. Bishop was rushed to the hospital and where he died three days later of stargulation. Forensic specialist went to the teens school after the death and searched his email and Iphone. They found some pretty suspicious info, including how to calculate the value of an estate and how to transfer bank accounts. On Friday, Alexander was arrested for the murder of his father. He will be tried as an adult.
Source: Charley Gallay / Getty After 8 longs months of a Desus & Mero drought, the Bodega Hive is about to be blessed with a brand new show from their favorite duo. Desus Nice and The Kid Mero are finally returning to television with their Showtime premiere tonight at 11pm, following their hiatus after leaving a nearly 2 year gig at VICELAND . Even though the duo still uploaded their podcast, Bodega Boys, weekly while on hiatus, fans are still understandably thirsty for the return of the visual art. Now that February 21 is here and we’re all only a couple of hours away from a hot & fresh interpretation of Desus and Mero’s classic late night banter, fans all over the internet don’t know how to contain their excitement. From their daytime appearance on The View yesterday to them overcoming some spicy challenges on Hot Ones today, all of these teasers have the Bodega Hive’s anticipation at an all time high. Knowing just how insanely unfiltered Desus and Mero’s content is, it’s probably a no-brainer that their fanbase is pretty problematic, too. With that being said, let’s take a look at how fans are reacting on Twitter to all of the excitement surrounding tonight’s premiere of Desus & Mero on Showtime: Finally the end of a dark period of time in our country. Desus & Mero's new show starts tonight. — Wizard Ocular (@WVGauntlet) February 21, 2019 You know, the hiatus of Desus & Mero was at the same time as a lot of messed up stuff happening with our country–coincidence? I think not. But New Yorkers are more proud of them than anyone else. Because, ya know, the Bronx. Desus & Mero on showtime start tonight. I feel like this is an accomplishment for all New Yorkers — Willie Carroll (@WILLIECtheMC) February 21, 2019 And there are some real concerns to be had, like keeping that same energy they had at VICELAND . Desus & Mero on showtime better be as good or better then it was on Vice, cuz it was Classic on Vice | Tonight at 11 — C R O M E (@Cromexmusic) February 21, 2019 While some of us are just in straight up disbelief because it’s been so long since we’ve been blessed by the Bodega gawds. DESUS & MERO ARE BACK TONIGHT THE WAIT IS FINALLY OVER AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA — transplant disliker (@lameposter) February 21, 2019 Desus & Mero premieres tonight nothing else matters — Gert (@parkergert) February 21, 2019 I feel like we all should be watching Desus & Mero tonight as a unit… — Goddess (@aricayvette) February 21, 2019 Oh, and lots and lots of Desus & Mero GIFS. In the meantime, while we all wait for that new Showtime goodness, peep Desus and Mero on Hot Ones being even more spicy than usual. And if you haven’t gotten your premium cable subscription yet–it’s time to bite the bullet; If you really think about it, $4.99 is nothing for an endless amount of Trumpito jokes, hot takes, and throwback City Island stories.
Source: VALERIE MACON / Getty Emotions are high following reports from the Chicago Police Department that Jussie Smollett staged his January 28 attack. Reactions from political commentators, social media users, and celebrities close to Smollett have opened up conversations about hate crimes, the trustworthiness of police and the power of the media. As we reported earlier and according to Jussie’s interview with Good Morning America last week, the Empire star says he was picking up food from Subway one night when someone called him a racist and homophobic slur. Jussie was then allegedly attacked by two masked men who poured an unknown substance on him and put a noose around his neck. The alleged incident sparked social media outrage and at first, the CPD reported that they were treating Smollett like a victim. But now, according to ABC7 , police are saying Smollett paid two Nigerian brothers $3,500 to stage his attack. The 36-year-old is now being charged with one count of felony disorderly conduct for filing a false police report. Jussie turned himself in to authorities on Thursday and if convicted, he can face up to three years in prison and substantial fines. In a press conference, Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said Smollett staged the incident because he was “dissatisfied with his salary.” Jussie allegedly staged his attack with the Osundairo brothers — one of them was Smollett’s personal trainer while the other one was an extra on Empire. S urveillance footage shows the brothers purchasing the ski masks allegedly used in the attack, and it also shows them buying a red ball cap and gloves. Even before the alleged attack, police claim Jussie faked a letter he received on the Chicago set of Empire that included racist and homophobic statements. The letter, which was sent on January 22, is currently in the FBI crime lab for analysis. According to an ABC7 legal analyst, Jussie could also face charges for the letter if it’s proven to be a hoax, and he could possibly serve up to five years in prison. All this updated information has caused a roller coaster of emotions from people. 20th Century Fox and Fox Entertainment released a statement Thursday morning reading: “We understand the seriousness of this matter and we respect the legal process. We are evaluating the situation and we are considering our options.” Meanwhile, some people are already labeling Smollett as guilty even before a trial has started: https://twitter.com/missnemmanuel/status/1098647071241003009 Others are already hoping he’ll see prison time if found guilty… If found guilty, Jussie Smollett should not only serve prison time, but he should also be forced to pay back every cent to the Chicago PD that was spent on his hate crime hoax. — #ThePersistence (@ScottPresler) February 21, 2019 Then, of course, people like Trump used Jussie’s case as another excuse to defend MAGA minions. . @JussieSmollett – what about MAGA and the tens of millions of people you insulted with your racist and dangerous comments!? #MAGA — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 21, 2019 But despite how bleak everything seems, there are still people supporting Jussie no matter the outcome of the case. I don’t pretend to know what really happened. But I continue to pray for Jussie’s physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. I also continue to support and BELIEVE the victims of hate crimes, sexual assault, other forms of violence. https://t.co/qcoebf3i7n — Marc Lamont Hill (@marclamonthill) February 21, 2019 I’ve been vocal about this situation & my love for Jussie & his entire family. I will continue to hope for the best for everyone involved as things continue to unfold. And I, like all of you, will watch them unfold. But believing victims is always the right choice. Always. — yvette nicole brown (@YNB) February 21, 2019 Many people continue to remain supportive, especially because of the Chicago Police Department’s long history of corruption. The cover-up of Laquan McDonald ‘s murder by Chicago officials and the almost 20 years of Chicago police torture cases serve as two examples of CPD’s corruption. The Chicago PD has dedicated immense energy to arresting Jussie, versus waiting 13 months to release the tape of 17yo Laquan McDonald being shot by a Chicago Police Officer. The dash cam video of the shooting showed McDonald had been walking away from the police when he was shot. https://t.co/rGqXaNSqrz — Eliza Orlins (@eorlins) February 21, 2019 Some people even gave personal examples of not being treated fairly by the CPD… Let me say this as a black, gay ex-Chicago resident (not reporter): A few years ago my neighbors spewed racist and homophobic epithets at me and friends, lit a grill under my porch and tried to smoke us off. Chicago police wouldn’t let me even file a report. — Zach Stafford (@ZachStafford) February 21, 2019 Superintendent Eddie Johnson also annoyed a lot of people when he spoke about the Jussie case, saying , “I just wish that the families of gun violence in this city got this much attention because that’s who really deserves the amount of attention that we’re giving to this particular incident.” Ironcially, CPD has had a low homicide clearance rate even before the Jussie case. According to ABC7 , only a reported 17 percent of murders were solved in 2017 alone. So once again, the CPD has a history of not being good, and some social media users let this be known. *Looks at CPD clearance rate* Lmao https://t.co/MydJ8UpNhW — JBG (@jeauxsef_) February 21, 2019 Chicago handled this Jussie case fast as hell. You done showed your cards CPD, fix your clearance rate now. #JussieSmollettHoax — Jennyfer (@TheNavigaytor) February 21, 2019 Chicago PD has murdered people with guns and covered it up, though. https://t.co/QyOVNt1J6k — Bree Newsome Bass (@BreeNewsome) February 21, 2019 I'm pretty sure the murder of Laquan McDonald and the cover up carried out from CPD to the mayor's office as well as decades of systemic racism against Black Chicagoans has done more to “damage the image of Chicago” than the Smollett case has. — Bree Newsome Bass (@BreeNewsome) February 21, 2019 Meanwhile, Jussie’s family still seems to be supporting him, with his siblings Jazz, Jake and Jocqui showing up to Chicago court on Thursday for Jussie’s bail hearing . Even some of Jussie’s celebrity friends are continuing to keep him in their prayers. Tyler Perry spoke on Jussie’s situation on Facebook and used the disappearance of Terrance Williams and Felipe Santos as an intro: “How I wish that the disappearance of Terrance Williams and Felipe Santos could get half as much attention as this Jussie Smollett thing. I have personally spoken to Jussie, and he is adamant that he’s telling the truth. Also, everyone that I know who knows him says that he is not the kind of person who would make up such a horrible and awful thing. Yet the evidence seems to state otherwise. I’m lost for words. To stoke fears and raise racial tensions is wrong in every situation on ALL SIDES! Yet my prayers are still with him and his family and our Nation. CAN WE PLEASE STOP THE HATE!” Sides will surely continue to be taken. But Jussie’s defense urges people to acknowledge due process before coming to any conclusions. In a statement, Smollett’s lawyer wrote: “Like any other citizen, Mr. Smollett enjoys the presumption of innocence, particularly when there has been an investigation like this one where information, both true and false, has been repeatedly leaked. Given these circumstances, we intend to conduct a thorough investigation and to mount an aggressive defense.” The saga continues.
In an absolutely stunning move, Bravo is demoting Vicki Gunvalson to “Friend” of the Housewives . Fans are almost speechless about this polarizing move, but Vicki claims that she’s still negotiating. In the mean time, her own castmates — well, most of them — are reacting with sympathy. Vicki losing her title as the OG of the OC has hit hard. Some fans can’t even believe it. RadarOnline spoke to an inside source who says that Vicki’s demotion is shocking and sad to her castmates, too. “Tamra feels really bad for her, of course,” the insider says. “All of the ladies besides Kelly Dodd do,” the source adds. Kelly Dodd and Vicki have been feuding intensely, lately, and Kelly has even pushed for Vicki’s removal from the show. She finally got her wish. However, Kelly isn’t the only one who feels tha tit’s past time for Vicki to step down. “Vicki set herself up for this,” the insider says. Apparently, some of the folks at Bravo felt that deposing the queen was a long time coming. “It wasn’t just one particular incident,” the source clarifies. “It was,” the insider then explains. “A culmination of a lot of different things over the past couple of seasons.” Her baseless accusations that Kelly Dodd is a coke fiend were only the latest hurtful, serious rumors to which she gave voice. But more to the point, Vicki just didn’t have a storyline this season. It has been entertaining to watch Vicki’s on-screen flirtations with Steve Lodge. However, her castmates — other than Kelly — hope that her romance can blossom off-camera. “The ladies saw Vicki go through so many relationships,” the source notes. “And,” the insider says. “They do feel like she and Steve could have a chance of staying together if she leaves the show.” “From what I hear,” the source shares. “He is supportive of her leaving and wants her to focus on her health and her family.” That’s great! Vicki has reportedly balked at the offer to become a mere “Friend” of the Housewives. She has stated on Twitter that she is still in negotiations. It is unclear if she will accept a diminished role. “She’s expected to return to the U.S. either Wednesday or Thursday” the source says. “And,” the insider adds. “She has to make up her mind about what she is going to do about the RHOC friend role offer when she returns.” That is a tough decision. Quitting the show altogether is an option, and may feel more dignified, but being a “Friend” could be a path back to Housewife status. Besides, surely some of her castmates would miss her. Notably, Vicki very recently mended fences with both Tamra Judge and Shannon Beador after ages of feuding. Two years ago, they would have been dancing on the grave of Vicki’s career. Now, not so much. With Vicki gone, Tamra will be the longest-running Housewife. Tamra has had her own off-screen drama lately. Her adult son went on a vicious transphobic rant , calling for the murder of transgender individuals. Any threats of indiscriminate violence against vulnerable minorities is serious business. And the trans community is notoriously a target for both bigotry and violence. Though Tamra apologized for his words, she had clicked “like” on one of his posts, deeply alarming fans of the show. While Tamra is of course not responsible for the hateful words of her adult son, that “like” was deeply disturbing. If it becomes part of a pattern, will Tamra be the next to lose her Housewife status? View Slideshow: Tamra Judge’s Son Pushes for Murder of a “Transgendered F-ck Head”

Source: Richard Cartwright / Getty Annalise is now roped into Nate’s plan to pin his father’s murder on the governor. Tonight’s episode of How to Get Away With Murder finds her trying to keep him out of jail. The feds have him pegged as a suspect, especially since he is unhinged and acting erratically. Things get worse when Asher tells Annalise that he’s not the only one who knows that Nate killed Ron. In other words, her kids know too since Asher’s punk arse snitched. Nate has been doing his own sleuthing, as we know. He meets with one of the jurors from his father’s death case to get the scoop. The juror tells him they made a ruling based on evidence they got in a packet from the bailiff. Shady boots. Basically, Miller may have given the jury fake evidence and Nate got a copy of it. Gabe ends up getting questioned about the voicemail he left for Miller. You remember the whole, “I screwed up, they found out who I am” bit. He claims he was helping Miller investigate Annalise because they thought she was involved in a lot of criminal activity. He says he hadn’t seen Miller in two months. The examiner then specifically asks, “So you didn’t see him at the wedding?” and he lies. This is not going to go well. Hold that thought. Nate presents the potentially fake evidence to Annalise and the theory that Miller tampered with it. Annalise tells him he doesn’t have concrete proof and that he’s digging his own grave as a suspect. Nate tells her to either have his back or get out. What do you think she did? Meanwhile, Bonnie is struggling with her guilt over helping to kill Miller. Like, struggling struggling, to the point where she tries to kill herself. She sits in her car in a garage and tries to let the carbon monoxide take her out. Luckily Frank finds her, realizes what’s going on and stops it. Finally, we get to the moment when Nate is questioned by the feds. Annalise calls him to see where he is. She offers to come down to help but he tells her not to because she can’t come near this. Annalise implores him not to answer their questions but this is part of his master plan. He let them take his DNA so that they can run it against the gun they claim had his father’s DNA—you know, the gun they said his dad tried to grab. Fast forward a bit, and we find out that the feds investigating Nate gave Tegan an immunity deal for..we don’t know but she’s up to something too. Finally, we cut to Annalise telling her kids that Nate had a smart plan to pin the crime on the gov and that she needs them on board. Annalise deciding to go along with Nate’s plan might have something to do with the next scene. It’s Nate meeting with the feds again. This time they tell him that he was right because his DNA doesn’t match that on the gun so someone did tamper with evidence! Then they say they have someone in custody in connection with the crime. Now we cut back to Annalise. She gets a call from prison saying they have someone in custody who claims she’s their lawyer. You guessed it, it’s Gabriel. He got himself in a world of trouble. Next week we find out exactly why he was arrested. Because you know there’s always twists and turns.
