FBI Files Reveal Biggie May Have Been Murked By A Tupac-Obsessed Shady Cop!!!

As Voletta Wallace (and most of the rest of us) suspected, a crooked cop may really have killed Biggie . Which might explain why the LAPD have had such a hard time solving the crime. The Freedom of Information Act has given the public access to the FBI file detailing the agency’s investigation of the 1997 fatal shooting of Christopher Wallace aka the Notorious B.I.G. and shady one-time officer David Mack is looking real suspect right now. Six months after Tupac’s murder in Las Vegas, on March 9th, Biggie and his crew were leaving a party at L.A.’s Peterson Automotive Museum in a three-car caravan when a black Chevy SS Impala pulled up to his window and fired several shots, killing the rapper almost instantly. According to the FBI investigation, the ammunition used was the extremely rare metal-piercing Gecko 9mm bullets, which are manufactured in Germany and only available in the U.S. through two distributors. Here’s where the shady police tie comes in. A corrupt LAPD officer named David Mack was arrested for masterminding a Bank of America heist of over $700,000 six months after Biggie’s death. When police raided his home they found Gecko ammunition and a shrine to Tupac. A black Chevy SS Impala was parked next to his house. Mack also had ties to Suge Knight and Death Row Records. If you’ve watched any of those Biggie documentaries you’ve probably heard some of this before — especially since Biggie’s family filed a wrongful death suit against Mack in 2007 — but the information about the ammo and the car only seems to confirm what most already suspected. David Mack is currently behind bars serving a 14-year sentence for the Bank of America robbery, and claims he is innocent of the Wallace murder. Do you believe him? Source

The Hole Story: After 13 Years, Courtney Love and Crew Reunite For Doc Premiere

Courtney Love shrugged. “We’ve been in lots of rooms together,” she said to a packed theater of moviegoers at the Museum of Modern Art, where Hit So Hard , a documentary about her band Hole (and, more specifically, drummer/addict/survivor Patty Schemel) had its New York premiere Monday night. The crowd laughed, steeped in nostalgia and recognition — not that Love was talking about this room or this crowd.

They Must Be Building Snowmen In Hell: Kanye West Finally Learns How To Keep His Damn Mouth Closed

Kanye, forever a showman, brings us another epic moment in his illustrious career, his first ever silent interview. Last night, at the opening for George Condo’s exhibit “Mental States” at the New Museum, we’d just asked the artist — who recently painted the covers for Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy — if there were another musician he’d consider designing album artwork for (“Jimi Hendrix, but he’s not around anymore”), when we were suddenly joined by Kanye himself. The newly humble rapper granted us a brief but thoughtful interview. Are you happy with the paintings George did of you? [Kanye nods head yes.] You are happy? [Nods head.] Would you make any changes if you were to do a self-portrait? [Shakes head no.] Are you mute tonight? [Nods head.] Do you want to do sign language? [Nods head. Pretends to sign, then shakes our hand and walks away.] Even in silence Ye still seems to come off a lil cocky, guess you can only ask him to tone it down but so much. Source

Atmosphere: The Science Museum Opens Amazing Interactive Gallery to Explain Climate Change (Photos)

Image by Leonora Oppenheim We first heard about the The Science Museum’s new climate change gallery back in March this year when we read an exasperating report in The Times saying the museum was “revising the contents of its new climate science gallery to reflect the wave of scepticism that has engulfed the issue in recent months.” It seems like a shaky and uncertain start, so we’ve been waiting to see what the fuss was all about ever since. Now we’re pleased to say that the gallery is open in London and TreeHugger was … Read the full story on TreeHugger

90 Seconds of Fame: Create Your Own Andy Warhol-Style Screen Test

Between 1964 and 1966, Andy Warhol filmed a series of silent, black and white 16mm short films called “Screen Tests” that featured his hip friends like Lou Reed and Yoko Ono sitting around and doing very little for seven-minute uninterrupted takes. In celebration of their new exhibition of the Screen Tests, the Museum of Modern Art has a launched nifty interactive feature that allows you to create your own 90-second version of these screen tests. Check out some clips from the original tests for Dennis Hopper, Salvador Dali (in all of his upside-down glory) and Nico for inspiration after the jump, then go wild! And by “go wild” I mean just sit there.
