The Oscar nominated movie will be hitting up participating AMC theaters February 1-7 in celebration of Black History Month. According to ABC 7 , Marvel made the announcement on Monday and Disney CEO Bob Iger tweeted that tickets will be free for everyone. He also announced that Disney will donate $1.5 million to the United Negro College Fund, one of the nations largest Black education organizations, in order “to make the dream of higher education a reality for more students.” Today we are excited to announce #BlackPanther will return to the big screen to celebrate #BlackHistoryMonth from Feb 1-7 at participating AMC theaters. Tickets are free! We will also donate $1.5M to @UNCF to make the dream of higher education a reality for more students. — Robert Iger (@RobertIger) January 28, 2019   The big announcement comes right off of Black Panther’ s big win at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday. BP won the top honor of Outstanding Performance By A Cast In A Motion Picture. The King of Wakanda, a.k.a. Chadwick Boseman, gave a moving speech, saying, “To be young, gifted & Black, we all know what it’s like to be told there’s not a screen for you to be featured on, there’s not a stage for you to be featured on.” He continued, “And that is what we went to work with every day because we knew, not that we would be around during awards season and that it would make a billion dollars, but we knew we had something special that we wanted to give the world.” Now,  Black Panther is headed to the Oscars with seven nominations, including Best Picture, Best Original Music Score, Best Costume Design, Best Sound Mixing, Best Production Design, Best Sound Editing and Best Original Song for “All the Stars.” You can find out if BP will take home the gold on Sunday, February 24 at 8 p.m. eastern. ‘Resident Evil’ TV Series In Development, Will Be A Netflix Global Original Reportedly

Source: Capcom Resident Evil 2 currently has gamers clutching their pearls and now news of TV series based on the fan-favorite survival horror franchise has surfaced.  Deadline exclusively reports Netflix is developing a scripted series loosely based on the video game franchise “that will explore the dark inner workings of the Umbrella Corporation and the new world order caused by the outbreak of the T-virus.” Constantin Film, the studio behind the highly-successful  Resident Evil film franchise helmed by Paul W.S. Anderson starring his wife Mila Jovovich as the main protagonist Alice will also be working on the show. Per Deadline: “The drama series will explore the dark inner workings of the Umbrella Corporation and the new world order caused by the outbreak of the T-virus. While the project is in the early stages, the series is expected to incorporate all of Resident Evil’s signature elements, including action sequences and “easter eggs.” No word on whether the show will be in the same universe of the movies or will starts fresh. This news also comes on the helms of a report of the studio hiring Johannes Roberts to write and direct a Resident Evil reboot with a new cast that will reportedly be based on the Resident Evil VII game taking the franchise back to its horror roots. — Photo: Capcom

The Real Housewives of New York City: See the Season 11 Trailer!

It seems like it was only weeks ago that we watched the The Real Housewives of New York City Season 10 reunion . Now, Bravo has released the trailer for Season 10. The trailer itself, as you can see, is a work of art. We cannot wait for the actual season to begin. The Real Housewives of New York City is returning for Season 11 on March 6. We are nearly at February, the shortest month of the year. March is not far off at all. Season 11 will pick up with elements of Season 10. One of those is Dorinda's “Jovani” heckle. You can bet that Luann didn't forget. Another blast from the past is Tinsley's quest for a husband. But the trailer stars with Bethenny pulling up and calling Sonja Morgan a “hooker,” so you know it's off to a good start. Catcalling is fun if it's from your friends. There is a lot of partying and very little context in early parts of the trailer. We of course recognize the stunning Halloween costumes . There's also a butt. Bravo usually reserves its peaches for The Real Housewives of Atlanta , but made an exception. We also see a number of the Housewives making out with each other, which isn't hugely unusual party behavior. Speaking of parties, they head down to the Sunshine State — to Miami, specifically. If the timing of one of the clips were slightly different, people would be accusing Bethenny Frankel of being a witch. At one point while everyone is living it up in Miami, Bethenny admonishes Sonja. “Go to f–king sleep, now,” Bethenny insists. (You know how some people get super bossy when they're drunk? Well, Bethenny takes that to whole new levels) Sonja just … collapses and falls out of her chair. We don't think that this was what Bethenny meant. Speaking of Bethenny (when are we, in our hearts, not speaking of her?) but on a much sadder note … In the trailer, a tearful Bethenny can be seen coping with the sudden death of Dennis Shields . “There was a lot in my mind about him dying,” she admits. “I could not get off the ride,” Bethenny says of their on-again, off-again relationship. “I feel guilty,” she confesses. “That the only way I could get off the ride is that he’s dead.” It is normal to have mixed feelings about the death of a loved one. It is part of coping. Luann de Lesseps is, of course, doing much better than she was a year ago. “Nine months ago I was in jail,” Luann cheers. “And now I'm a cabaret star, it's insane!” She laughs with glee and is clearly pouring herself into her stage work. This does seem to bring her into conflict with Bethenny for a moment that we just had to turn into a .gif. “I can't even believe you act this way,” an exhasperated Bethenny lashes out. “‘Cabaret, cabaret, cabaret!' Life is not a cabaret!” Bethenny insists, which would make a hell of an audition for the villain in a musical. Finally, Bethenny tells Luann: “You're insufferable!” We hope that the two of them managed to patch things up after this outburst. Bethenny, Dorinda, Sonja, Ramona, and Tinsley are joined this season by Barbara Kavovit and Jill Zarin. While there are a number of friendships among the Housewives, this will clearly not pressure them to hold back. It looks like just about every possible conflict comes to light, and we cannot wait to see it all play out.

Source: Tim Mosenfelder / Getty Nelly wants the case thrown out. The St. Louis rapper is hoping a judge dismisses a lawsuit brought against him by a British woman who claimed he raped her in England. Report the Associated Press : The federal lawsuit was filed in November in St. Louis, the rapper’s hometown. The woman accuses Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Haynes Jr., of assaulting her in a dressing room at the concert venue in Essex in December 2017. Nelly hasn’t been criminally charged and has denied the allegations. The woman is identified only as Jane Doe in the lawsuit. Nelly’s attorney, Scott Rosenblum, filed a response to the lawsuit Thursday, arguing that the woman shouldn’t be allowed to remain anonymous and “avoid public scrutiny.” The woman alleges that she paid to have her photo taken with the 44-year-old rapper after the concert before he took her to a separate room and sexually assaulted her. The woman’s attorney, Karen Koehler, said the woman reported the incident to police more than a year ago and she believes the investigation is ongoing. Essex police didn’t immediately respond to an after-hours phone message from The Associated Press seeking information Friday. If this sounds familiar, Nelly settled a similar lawsuit  (the accuser claims there was a settlement, the rapper lawyers say it was dismissed) in September 2018 from a woman who claimed he raped her on his tour bus. According to the San Francisco Examiner , pediatrician and youth activist Dr. Nadine Burke Harris was appointed to become the state of California’s first surgeon general. Governor Gavin Newsom on Monday announced the appointment of Dr. Nadine Burke Harris as California's first-ever surgeon general. https://t.co/REW0TLjd7R — KPIX 5 (@KPIXtv) January 22, 2019 On Monday, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced that he had selected Dr. Burke Harris to take on the new role, the news outlet writes. In the position, she will be responsible for examining the pressing health issues faced by people living in the state and implementing effective strategies to overcome them. One of the things on her agenda is providing outreach for young families. Burke Harris, 43, is well-suited for the position as she’s dedicated her career to spreading awareness about health conditions. She founded the Center for Youth Wellness in San Francisco in 2012 as a resource for children who were exposed to toxic trauma and stress at an early age. Harris is at the helm of the Bay Area Research Consortium on Toxic Stress and Health and is a part of several health-focused organizations including the National Academy of Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics National Advisory Board for Screening. Burke Harris took to social media to share her excitement about becoming the state’s first surgeon general. “Looking forward to rolling up my sleeves as CA’s first Surgeon General,” she posted on Twitter. “Thank you @GavinNewsom for your bold vision for health for all Californians. #preventscreenandheal!” Her appointment means a lot for representation in medicine. Institutions across the country are trying to empower Black students so that they can follow in her footsteps. According to a report released by the Association of American Medical Colleges, Howard University is the top institution for sending African-American applicants to U.S. medical schools. Following the likes of The Wiz and Jesus Christ Superstar,  RENT: Live will give fans from all over the world the chance to watch the Broadway classic be performed live, right in front of their television screens. The cast in the 2019 reboot includes:  Jordan Fishe r as Mark Cohen,  Brennin Hunt as Roger Davis, Tinashe  as Mimi Marquez,  Brandon Victor Dixon  as Tom Collins, Drag Race’s Valentina  as Angel Dumott Schunard,  Vanessa Hudgens  as Maureen Johnson,   Kiersey Clemons  as Joanne Jefferson and for the first time in his career, R&B singer  Mario  stars in his first musical as Benjamin Coffin III. We got the opportunity to sit down with Mario and talk to him about how it feels to pop his stage play cherry live in front of the entire world. Source: FayesVision/WENN.com / WENN For Mario, he wasn’t a really big Broadway fan, so like many non-Broadway enthusiasts, he wasn’t familiar with RENT at first. “It wasn’t until after my first audition that I actually saw [RENT],” Mario admits. “I’ve been hearing ‘Seasons of Love’ all my life, just in the background, knowing the song but having not really watched the movie.” However, when the opportunity presented itself for Mario to audition, he took a moment to see the film and found himself identifying with the character Benny. He says, “Now that I’ve seen the movie and now that I know that I’m playing Benny’s part, I found relation to him, coming from Baltimore, growing up in poverty-stricken areas, leaving when I was 15 years old, and going back a few years later thinking to myself, ‘What can I do to change the circumstances of some of these kids growing up in the city.’” Mario also discusses how he’s given back to his hometown of Baltimore. “I started the Do Right Foundation where I was working with the children of substance abused parents because I experienced that,” says Mario. “In that way, I can relate to Benny in the fact that he sees a brighter future for the East Village. His way of going about it is a little harsh. But, I started there and I’ve just been building on the character ever since then.” Source: FOX / Getty Mario admits that before RENT, he never really had aspirations of wanting to get into theater, however,  after being asked to audition for the musical “Hair”, the thought eventually crossed his mind. Unfortunately, he never pursued it further but that’s what makes RENT even better. It’s something completely new. As far as whether or not Mario plans to go on Broadway, the singer says that he’d love to do more one-off shows like the live showing of RENT on FOX, but he’s not ready to take on Broadway full time. “I probably won’t do traveling theater,” he said. “I have a lot of musical aspirations. I’m going on tour after this. I’m putting another project out as well. I’m just going to continue to evolve and hopefully along that path I’ll have more experiences like RENT.” The tour Mario is referring to is the upcoming Millennium Tour alongside B2K, Pretty Ricky, Chingy and others. The nostalgic R&B tour sold out in several cities, with promoters having to add additional dates. When asked how he feels about being back on stage with some of his old friends, Mario says, “I’ve been so focused on RENT, I don’t know how it feels yet. I’ve literally been in this world. But when I think about it, for me, it’s more exciting for me to get to see the fans. I’m excited about the fans! I’m excited to see how excited they are. It’s a weird time for R&B right now and I think that although R&B is making a comeback right now, this is an exciting moment for R&B fans who remember the Scream Tour. On Friday, the finance management app released an interactive music video starring  2 Chainz  and comedian Adam Scott. Scott plays the head of finance for a record label who encourages Chainz to save his receipts. The rapper then proceeds to dive into a song about his expensive lifestyle and extravagant purchases, like 2 Chainz is known to do. “EXPENSIFY TH!$” is part of the company’s new campaign, “You Weren’t Born To Do Expenses.” The campaign will consist of digital, social, and TV content, including a 30-second ad that will debut on Super Bowl Sunday.

Fatima Ali Dies; Top Chef Star Was 29

Sad news out of the food world today, as beloved Top Chef star Fatima Ali has passed away at the age of 29. Ali had been battling Ewing Sarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer, since 2017. News of Chef Fatima’s passing was confirmed today by the Bravo network. “We are deeply saddened to share the news that Fatima Ali has lost her courageous battle with cancer,” said a representative. “Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time. “People not only fell in love with her cooking, but fell in love with her personality and heart. We hope that the beautiful memories shared with her will provide comfort to everyone who knew and loved her.” Ali underwent surgery to remove a tumor last year, and she told People magazine that she was “technically cancer-free” while attending the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen last July. Ali seemed to suspect that her battle was far from over, and sadly, she was right. In October of 2018, Ali revealed that her cancer had returned with a vengeance in a heartbreaking article for Bon Appetit . “The cancer cells my doctors believed had vanished are back with a vengeance in my left hip and femur bone,” Fatima wrote, adding that doctors had given her “a year to live, with or without the new chemotherapy regimen.” She opted out of the chemo and instead devoted her final months to experiencing as much of life as she possibly could in the short time she had remaining. “I am desperate to overload my senses in the coming months, making reservations at the world’s best restaurants, reaching out to past lovers and friends, and smothering my family, giving them the time that I so selfishly guarded before,” Ali wrote. “I was looking forward to being 30, flirty, and thriving. Guess I have to step it up on the flirting. I have no time to lose.” A favorite among fans and colleagues on Top Chef , Ali received an outpouring of support from her co-stars after revealing her diagnosis, and now, past and current contestants are paying loving tribute to an incredible talent who was taken much too soon. “It’s with a heavy heart we say goodbye to Fatima Ali today, as she has lost her battle with cancer. I will miss you Fati, and you will be in my heart forever,” fellow chef Bruce Kalman wrote along with the above photo. “I’ll always remember the great times we had, especially our interview during the tailgating episode discussing football, stadiums, and Taylor Swift. Much love, Bruce.” Our thoughts go out to Chef Fatima’s loved ones during this incredibly difficult time She will be greatly missed by many.

Kim Porter: Cause of Death Revealed

Just over two months since her shocking death, we now know why Kim Porter passed away . The model, actress and ex-girlfriend of Sean “Diddy” Combs died of lobar pneumonia, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner announced on Friday. The manner of death has been certified as natural. Porter shared three children with the music mogual and remained a very close part of his life, long after the pair split up as a couple. Porter had only just wished Diddy as happy birthday days before she suddenly died. For those wondering, meanwhile… “Lobar pneumonia (pneumonia) is an infection of the lung caused by bacteria,” the official report reads, explaining further: “Immune cells invade the air spaces (where oxygen is taken in), and this is accompanied with necrosis (death of cells). Pneumonia decreases the lungs ability to take in oxygen, and over time it can cause sudden death.” According to this same report, Porter went to the doctor days before she died with “cold/flu-like symptoms.” A nurse also visited her home and gave her “saline solution with vitamins.” An autopsy was completed on Porter a day after she was found dead in her home on November 15. However, her death certificate previously stated her cause of death as “deferred” and the manner of death as “pending investigation.” The toxicology report says there were no narcotic drugs or alcohol in her system. She was 47 years old. Porter was buried in her hometown of Columbus, Georgia on November 24. In audio made public from Diddy’s moving eulogy , the rapper opened up about his relationship with Porter and vowed to keep her memory alive forever. “I just want to say to my kids, Justin, Christian, D’Lila, Jessie, Chance and the other man in the house, Quincy: Your mother instilled in me this, and I pledge in front of everybody right now that I will always be there for you,” he said, adding: I will always take care of you. Diddy and Porter broke up for good way back in 2007. But they remained on such close terms over the years that they never even agreed to a formal custody arrangement. They were vital parts of each other’s lives up until the day Kim died. Quipped Diddy in his eulogy: “To the girls especially, we about to enter some different type of times. I want you to be able to talk to me about everything, and I mean everything, and I mean everything.” He continued later on: “Kim, we gonna miss you so much. But I ain’t gonna miss you too much because I’m not gonna let your voice inside of me stop talking. “I know you like to talk to me a lot once you get on those rants, and I just want you to know I’m gonna be listening.” And he concluded: “As time went on, our relationship took so many different changes, from being boyfriend and girlfriend to being lovers to being best friends to being just straight-up homies, like somebody that you know you can count on. “We just love y’all, we appreciate y’all, appreciate the family. To all the words that I’m forgetting, to anything I’m forgetting to say, we love you, Kim.”
