Beats 1/Apple Music Studio Launch In NYC Apple Music’s free livestream Beats 1 celebrated the launch of its brand new studios in Union Square in NYC last week. Beats 1’s global On-Air talent came together for a special Live broadcast , joined by Swizz Beatz, Busta Rhymes, French Montana, Joyner Lucas, Diana Gordon, Abir, Teyana Taylor, Nina Sky, and many more. According to The Hollywood Reporter , the billboard on Pico Boulevard was taken over by Sabo. He replaced a photo of Michael Myers for the new “ Halloween ” movie with a picture of Maxine Waters . The 1978 film is returning to theaters and Blumhouse as well as Universal are advertising the movie all over. The Hollywood Reporter states that Sabo decided to change the advertisement after Waters in June told a crowd to make things uncomfortable for Donald Trump as well as his Cabinet members. T allahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum is prepared to return fire if his GOP rival for Florida governor Ron DeSantis wants to “go there” during their debate on Sunday night in Tampa, which CNN will air at 8 p.m. SEE ALSO: Andrew Gillum’s Support Extends Well Beyond The Black Community, Poll Shows “We waited 20 months or so for this moment when we’d get to compete in a contest of ideas about where we’re going to take the state of Florida,” said Gillum, who could become Florida’s first African-American governor. “Hopefully, we’ll be in for a good substantive conversation. I’ll do my best to keep it substantive. He warned Florida voters, less than 24-hours after winning the GOP nomination in August, not to “ monkey this up ” by electing Gillum. A closer look at his background revealed that DeSantis has a long racist history . Gillum wants to debate the merits of his progressive agenda for the state, which includes his proposals to raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour, increase starting teacher pay to $50,000, expand Medicaid and ending the state’s infamous “stand your ground” law. DeSantis, if he decides to debate the issues, is expected to counter that Gillum would be fiscally irresponsible, weak on crime, and too open to immigration as governor—basically touting Trump’s “make American great again” agenda. Expect DeSantis also to accuse Gillum of corruption. Federal investigators are looking into whether businessmen were able to influence Tallahassee development projects. Gillum has said the FBI told him he’s not the focus of its investigation. However, the mayor reportedly took expensive trips that his political enemies believe were paid for by lobbyists. Gillum has reportedly presented receipts for those trips, and he’s cooperating fully with the investigation. Meanwhile, Trump has been lobbed attacks at Gillum on DeSantis’ behalf. S ongstress Beyoncé has poured a lot into historically Black colleges and universities this year and the Houston native is continuing her philanthropic efforts. She and her husband Jay Z have lended their support and resources to a different cause. The power couple recently helped to raise over $6 million for the organization City Of Hope, Forbes reported. The 1200 guests—who were leaders in the music and entertainment industry—were treated to a performance by Beyoncé. Warner CEO Jon Platt was awarded the organization’s Spirit Of Life Award. “I can’t think of anyone more deserving to be prized in front of their peers and in front of the world than my brother, Jon Platt, the artist formerly known as Big Jon,” said Jay Z, according to the news outlet. “He’s the highest ranking black executive in any global company. He’s the Obama of the music industry. And I’m just glad that everyone in this room gets to acknowledge and prize this man tonight for all his accomplishments. Ashanti may be a legend to some of us, but apparently college kids don’t know — or care — much about her music. The Braveheart singer was scheduled to perform at Stony Brook University for their “Back to the Brook” concert, but the show was cancelled due to “low ticket sales.” The University released a statement, saying, As an organization, we do our best to host programs for students while providing diversity and inclusion. However, we have struggled to execute certain aspects. With only a week before the concert, only 24 tickets were sold to students. The school added that they were already on a hard deadline since Teyana Taylor pulled out on the event two weeks prior, which left them no time to properly market and promote Ashanti as the new headliner — so technically, it’s no ones fault. Ashanti may not be selling out college campuses, but she can certainly strike a better pose than half of these youngins on the ‘gram. Oh, and Happy Belated birthday!
