According to the Chicago Sun-Times , Johnson, the co-founder of Johnson Products Company and the makers of Afro Sheen and Ultra Sheen—passed last Friday (Sep. 6). Her oldest son, Eric G. Johnson , told the newspaper that his trailblazing mother was ‘battling a combination of medical conditions stemming from a 2005 accident that sent her through five back surgeries.” Her husband George added that he lost “the love of his life.” “I have lost a lifelong friend and partner and the love of my life,” he said in a statement. “Joan will be greatly missed by her family and all of those who have come to know her.” In 1954, Johnson and her husband George Johnson started their haircare line on the city’s South Side with a $250 investment and grew their business from $4 million in sales in 1967 to $40 million in 1976, the Sun-Times noted. For her son, his mother was a “pioneer. “For having such a string of ‘firsts’ and being comfortable in that environment, I look at my mother as a pioneer,” Eric Johnson said. “She and my father had no provided path. They created a path where there was none.” Adding, “Because of her, people have been able to accomplish things they maybe didn’t think they could, and they knew all the things they had to strive for.” “As [the] matriarch of the family, she was a magnet who inspired, consoled and advised people. Source: Prince Williams / Getty Two issues stood out most on tonight’s episode of Love and Hip-Hop Hollywood . Yoyo is experiencing ageism from her own daughter, and A1’s mother tried it when she insinuated that it’s Lyrica’s fault that A1 ain’t treating her right. Let’s start with Yoyo. We know she has been helping other rappers work on their technique through her rap school, but she’s also planning a musical comeback. She basically described her comeback as being the Yoyo we know, but with modern sensibilities. That’s going to be interesting given the mumble app tendencies of today’s most popular hits. If anything, the fans that grew up with her might be interested in hearing what she’s working with…or maybe not. It really is a mixed bag because people are so finicky but also arbitrary these days when it comes to what entertainment they like. Plus, this culture is dominated by youth and that is where Yoyo’s pregnant daughter comes in because a lot of people may feel Yoyo should fall back. Yoyo’s daughter feels like mom is doing too much, and wants her to settle down. She obviously wants her mom to settle down for selfish reasons. She wants her mom around to play grandma and help with the baby. Instead of being tactful about it she says, “You’ve always been working, it’s time for you to settle down you’re a grandma.” Yoyo replies, “Girl bye!” And it makes you wonder, why can’t Yoyo have everything she wants? It’s possible for her to be working and a doting grandmother. Why are people so bothered when women of a certain age are still about pursuing their passions? Do you think it would be a different response if Yoyo were a man? Let’s fast forward a bit. The episode ends with Lyrica and A1’s dysfunction. They’re not happy and haven’t been for a while. They both initially said they were going to try to work it out but then Lyrica said she found out about more infidelity that A1 was dishonest about and this makes her not sure about their future. It doesn’t help that A1’s mother, Pam, steps into the fray and creates more chaos. Pam called herself stepping in to help and only made things worse. She especially tried it when she said, “Men do stuff because of women.” Then she added that Lyrica never cooks. Basically, she’s saying that A1 cheating is Lyrica’s fault. A1’s goofy self is there agreeing with his mother. Unfortunately, a lot of people have the archaic and baseless view that a failed relationship is the woman’s fault. However, it’s obvious that A1 and Lyrica both play a part in their issues. If they’re serious about working it out then perhaps a therapist (or even Marriage Bootcamp ) is the best option. But if not, they should probably move on instead of playing tit for tat games, and definitely keep the meddling mamas out of their business. Was A1’s mother out of pocket with her comments? Source: Paul Bruinooge / Getty Malik Yoba Dropped From Youth Program Statutory rape allegations were made against actor Malik Yoba last week and now he’s l ost his job as a spokesperson for Phi Beta Sigma. Yoba is an honorary member of the fraternity according to The Jasmine Brand. He was named their youth “Sigma Beta Club” spokesperson recently. The fraternity has released a statement regarding Mariah Lopez Ebony . The now transgender adult claims Yoba solicited sex from her as a vulnerable teen. Yoba was removed from the organization on Thursday and the following statement was released: “Those reports allege that Yoba had been previously involved in an inappropriate relationship 20 years ago, allegations that Brother Yoba denies. This is a serious issue and the allegation is inconsistent with, and a distraction to, the focus of the Sigma Beta Club. To safeguard the reputation of the program and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc., the National Sigma Beta Club Foundation, in consultation with Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity’s leadership, has determined it to be in the best interest of all concerned that Brother Malik Yoba no longer serve as the National Spokesperson for the Sigma Beta Club program.” Malik Yoba previously denied Ebony’s claims. So far he hasn’t commented about being dropped from the program.

The rapper finally dropped his highly anticipated debut album, announced a new tour, filmed a new judge-style television show for Netflix called Rhythm & Flow , and most recently, he welcomed a new baby girl into the world. Of course, these are all great things to have on your calendar, but one of those seems to have come at the wrong time for Chance: his upcoming North American tour. The Chicago native took to his Instagram page to make the announcement that his tour, which was scheduled to start in only a few days, was going to be postponed . This news comes directly following the announcement that his wife gave birth to their second child together. “I thought it over for the past week and I’ve decided to push back my tour. This year has been one of the greatest of my life; Marriage, new baby, first album etc. But with it being so eventful it has also been very strenuous having to divide my time and energy between family and work. When Kensli was born, I went on tour 2 weeks later and missed some of the most important milestones in her life, but more importantly I was absent when her mother needed me the most” he explained in his caption. Chance went on to explain that the new tour will kicks off at the top of next year, on January 15. He also reminds those fans lucky enough to have tickets for his 9/28 show in Chicago, Life Is Beautiful Festival, iHeart Music Fest, and Miami Beach Pop Up Fest that he’ll still be in attendance. Since the incident, police have brought numerous suspects in for questioning. Eyewitnesses say Lilja was attacked and wrestled to the ground by the assailant before he was shot twice. His medical condition is currently unknown. Lilja was assigned to ASAP Rocky’s case when it first caught worldwide attention due to Rocky’s alleged living conditions in jail while he was awaiting trial for an assault case. He was released from Swedish jail a little over three weeks after his arrest. The rapper was charged with assault for allegedly beating up a man who he said harassed him. After weeks of protest from fans and an intervention from Donald Trump , Rocky was returned to the US after being found guilty. He will not have to serve any additional jail time.
