MODEL MONDAY: Tiffany’s Flame Wants To Shine A Light On All Bodies

Commissioned by Ashley Stewart “Is your teacher famous like my teacher?” The question, posed by a particularly precarious elementary school student referred to Tiffany Flamer, an educator who outside of a few low stakes beauty shoots had overnight become the face of a national advertising campaign. Named Ms. Ashley Stewart in the brand’s annual Finding Ashley Stewart pageant Flammer has had her face plastered in store windows, magazines ads, and headline stories all over the internet but she appreciates its presence the most in her classroom. In an exclusive interview, the unlikely model talked to HelloBeautiful about her plans to expand her modeling career beyond her tenure and inspire others to be confident in the process. She went on to reveal that her lack of success in that competition alst prevented her from taking home her crown. “I didn’t make that, and I knew it was gonna be the same people that were judging that so I was like ‘They didn’t pick me before, why would they pick me now?” Commissioned by Ashley Stewart The deciding factor in her putting herself out there again was encouragement from her local store manager. An avid shopper with a reputation for having great personal style Flamer had become close with the person who often watch her twirl around the chain’s pink clad dressing rooms. “She said, ‘I think you should do it, just do it. Just give it a chance,” said Flamer. A few days later, right before the year of her school year the teacher who describes herself as being “active in her community” decided to dedicate part of her break to giving it a shot. I can wear that, because I look like that,” she said. She added that she wanted them to think, “That will look bomb on me.” Even with a huge campaign under her belt, a growing social media following and a clip of Loni Love yelping out her name on the internet, she has not been able to lock down a modeling agent, a task that is seemingly simpler for the young women in the shallower end of the plus-size pool. “I notice that a lot of the agencies who represent plus size models the models are on the smaller end,” she pointed out. “In the media they consider anything a size 10 and up, but their models are usually on the smaller end. They’re size 10 and size 12 they’re not your 14s and 16s and 18s,” she continued. “I definitely want to continue modeling, I am looking to sign and I’m hoping that will be a possibility for me, hopefully they can take me as I am.” If they don’t, we will. Tenisha Light-Caba Of Brooklyn Bleu Is Making High-End Vintage Jewelry Affordable For All

Source: Victoria Uwumarogie / HB From the moment I stepped in Brooklyn Bleu , I was impressed. Actually, make that the moment I grabbed the door handle. Even from outside, I could tell that I wasn’t stepping into your ordinary vintage jewelry spot. When I entered, I felt like embraced, not only by the woman who greeted me at the door, but also by the atmosphere. There were splashes of pink, lots of gold, and the sounds of women fawning over shining jewels. The woman behind this dream of a shopping experience is Tenisha Light-Caba. The entrepreneur, who stood in the midst of all of the excitement in a jean Fenty dress , lucite heels and her own vintage Chanel earrings and gold link bracelets fashioned into anklets, started the business in 2010. However, she has been selling vintage jewelry since she was a kid living in California. “I had rummage sales every weekend, making money selling my grandmother’s jewelry,” she told me. “Then it became my chore to clean another grandmother’s jewelry. One would let me make money at the rummage sales selling the jewelry right in front of the house. I would set up a little table, but I wasn’t selling lemonade, I was selling jewelry.” View this post on Instagram Show me Love, Keep all Those Other Vibes for Yourself! Wearing #chanel #vintage #lindaevangelista #1993 #chanelbelt @brooklynbleuny A post shared by Brooklyn Bleu (@brooklynbleuny) on Dec 17, 2018 at 3:11pm PST She’s long past the days of getting her pieces from her grandmother. Nowadays, Tenisha works with private collectors who’ve been in the business for decades to pull together her one-of-a-kind collection, which she’s been able to put in her new store located in The Oculus , otherwise known as Westfield World Trade Center in Manhattan. “I tend to like to work with the same people. This is how I’m able to get my hands on the good stuff. I take care of them, they take care of me,” she said. “They have a lot. They have more than what I could ever afford to buy. Where they get it from? Who knows.” Her collection has expanded greatly, taking her from her early beginnings of selling in a brownstone, moving on to Chelsea Market, to eventually having her own space, one of the few minority-owned businesses in the Oculus. “We first started our business in a historic brownstone in Brooklyn,” she said of her journey. “I’ve never had the space. I’ve usually worked at an artisan market. This is the biggest space I’ve ever had. This gives me a chance to really shine, have lighting and really make it my own.” It hasn’t been an easy journey, but it’s been a successful one. During her days working at markets like Artists & Fleas and Top Shop on 5th Avenue, Tenisha broke records for her sales. “I worked,” she said. “I put the work in. It’s been so many things that happened in the world over the past 10 years and in that time, I’ve had my business full time. I’m independently funded. I don’t have investors. Now I have payroll and I have employees.” Source: Victoria Uwumarogie / HB What you’ll find at the store is pieces dating back from the ’30s and ’40s. Items from big name fashion houses like Yves Saint Laurent and Chanel, as well as daintier, unique items from all over. The good news is, everything is affordable, but there are items specific to every wallet. For instance, she has inexpensive earrings and necklaces from the ’70s, her “Dainty” and “Re.Fresh” collections. They are old stock that she received from a collector who had a wholesale business in the 1970s, and she replated everything to give it a fresh look. They are being sold between the $20-$40 range. The wide-ranging prices are part of Tenisha’s hope to make people from all walks vintage fans — and welcome when they visit Brooklyn Bleu. “I want people to feel welcomed, to feel like they’re at home. I want them to feel comfortable and good — just as good when they leave,” she said. “That’s the experience they get when they walk through the door, that’s how people treat them, that’s courtesy. That’s being professional and knowing what you have to offer as well. I have to train and work really hard with my staff too so they can pass on that same experience.” She also wants people to know that Brooklyn Bleu will be flexible. If you get a piece and for some reason you need to return it (allergies, any other unexpected issue), she welcomes it back. Source: Victoria Uwumarogie / HB “If someone’s not happy with the piece, it doesn’t make me happy for them to have it,” she said. “I’d rather get it in the hands of someone who’s going to really enjoy it.” With that being said, it’s rare for such a thing to happen with Tenisha’s collection of pieces. You’ll understand when you step in the space and find yourself mesmerized by the statement necklaces, quirky rings, avante-garde earrings, delightful vintage mirrors and ornate bags. Especially at the cost. “It’s important to offer pieces that are accessible and vintage,” she said. “When I go to a place and it feels like everything is just too expensive, it’s like, ‘I thought I was making good money! I can’t even afford this.’ I didn’t ever want people to feel that in here — and they don’t. We have customers who take four and five pieces. Most customers take more than one item.” Brooklyn Bleu is now open and officially located at The Oculus World Trade Center: Church Street, New York, NY 10006

#NYFWNoir: Gina Edwards Partnered With Rebecca Minkoff To Give The Modern Day Working Woman Runway Style Nails

Source: John Lamparski / Getty Ahh, who doesn’t love runway lewks?! The dramatic presentation of the clothes, the precision of the sewing, and a first look to what’s to come. However, if you are working in a corporate setting, it can be hard to translate the runway to real way and rock your fashion while getting that coin. Rebecca Minkoff presented her Fall/Winter 2019 collection and it’s all about the modern working woman. Minkoff stated via press release, “As a female founder and entrepreneur, I am continuously inspired by the women around me and women in the workplace who represent strong examples of leadership, strength and grace. When creating this collection these inspiring women were top-of-mind – I wanted to highlight the modern working woman, her wardrobe, and her environment.” Source: KISS Nails / Courtesy of KISS Nails, Inc. She did so with power suits, get ready in the morning quickly dresses, and perfectly pleated skirts. Minkoff also partnered with Lead Manicurist for Kiss Products, Inc., Gina Edwards to create a series of nail looks inspired by the Fall/Winter 2019 collection. With prices ranging from $7.99 to $11.99, this is a great way to access runway inspired looks without paying runway prices. Edwards explained that, “Women are looking for fun, relatable nail looks for everyday.” You can achieve this with Kiss Nail Art Paints to create leopard, zebra, plaid and golden fantasy looks. Not sure it’s acceptable for everyday? Edwards reassures that, “each design is on trend without being overbearing.” The beauty of using Kiss Nail Art Paint ($9.99, KISSusa.com ) is that you can paint an accent nail or all of your nails depending on what you want. Backstage, our favorite looks were the zebra and the plaid nails, so we’re sharing below, how to get the look. ZEBRA NAILS Source: KISS Nails / Courtesy of KISS Nails, Inc. I love the Zebra look because animal print is undoubtedly the new black. People tend to gravitate toward leopard, but I love more exotic prints like Zebra! The black and white keeps it classic and more demure. Select the correct size of KISS Gel Fantasy Nails and KISS Masterpiece Nails. You are going to need each to complete this look. Size your nails in advance, not as you go along. You will paint each of your accent nails with KISS Nail Art Paint to create the desired effect. For the Zebra look you will use the KISS Nail Art Paint in blue to create zebra stripes across the chrome accent nails from KISS Masterpiece Nails in Kitty Gurl ($11.99, KISSusa.com ). You can complete the look using KISS Gel Fantasy Nails in Bookworm ($8.99, cvs.com ). PLAID NAILS Source: KISS Nails / Courtesy of KISS Nails, Inc. As the temperature begins to turn and Summer turns into Fall, you can be back in style by rocking plaid nails. Plaid is a go to Fall print and also considered corporate acceptable. This lpok, you’ll have to wait till mid-September as the products haven’t dropped to the public yet. However, you’ll be able to shop them on KISSusa.com as well as in ULTA and Walgreens. Paint horizontal and vertical lines in a pattern onto KISS Halloween Gel Fantay Nails in Binx. You’ll then complete the look with the KISS Halloween Gel Fantay Nails in Skellington. Each nail set is $7.99 – when was the last time you got an on point gel manicure for under $20.00?! Are you feeling these Fall nails? Will you be trying to DIY these looks? Kylie Rae Harris: Late Singer Accused of DUI, Killing 16-Year-Old In Car Crash

Last week, the music world was stunned by the death of Kylie Rae Harris . The 30-year-old country music sensation was killed in a multiple-car accident while driving to a gig near Taos, New Mexico. A 16-year-old girl named Mria Elena Cruz was also killed in the September 4 crash. Now, in a shocking turn of events, police have revealed that Harris appears to have been responsible for the crash, and alcohol may have been a factor. “At this time I will say with most certainty that Miss Cruz was an innocent victim of this senseless crash caused by Ms. Harris,” Taos County Sheriff Jerry Hogrefe said during a recent press conference. While authorities have not decisively concluded that Harris was drunk at the time of the accident, they apparently have reason to believe that she was drinking on the night of the crash. The singer was arrested on DUI charges in 2017 and ordered to install an ignition interlock device on her vehicle, multiple outlets indicate. Previously, she had received a speeding citation. Police say speed was also a factor in last week’s accident. Rather eerily, Harris’ last Instagram post included this fond reflection of her life on the road: “I’ve been driving for almost 12 hours and you would think that’s so exhausting and boring but like, the last couple of hours driving through the mountains and remembering my place in the back seat as a little kid when my dad was making these treks here,” Harris said. “Like, it was the f–king best,” In another strange coincidence, Harris filmed a video just hours before her death, in which she spoke about the fact that several of her family members have died near Taos. “My grandparents lived here, my uncle still lives here,” she told the camera. “Literally, everybody that was here has passed away, except for my uncle, and including my dad.” Harris’ passing was confirmed in a statement released by her publicist last Wednesday night: “We are heartbroken to confirm that Kylie Rae Harris passed away in a car accident last night. “We have no further details to share, and ask for privacy for her family at this time. Everyone that knew Kylie knew how much she loved her family and, beyond that, how much she loved music. “The best tribute to her unmatched enthusiasm for both is to spread as much love as you can today, and listen to music that fully inspires you.” Our thoughts go out to the Harris and Cruz families at this difficult time. We’ll have further information on this developing story as more information becomes available. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2019: In Memoriam

A Whole Mess: Tristan Thompson Tries To Kiss Khloe Post-Break-Up Before Confronting Kanye At True’s 1st Birthday Party

Source: Jerritt Clark / Getty Tristan Thompson Was All Over The KUWTK Premiere Season 17 of Keeping Up With The Kardashians premiered on E! this Sunday, and following last season’s drama-filled episodes surrounding the Khloe-Tristan-Jordyn saga, it’s no surprise that their first episode back dealt with some of the longer term aftermath. The episode revolved around Khloe prepping for baby True’s over-the-top first birthday party, which involved questioning her decision to invite Tristan to the party only a few weeks post-break-up. Since they supposedly hadn’t seen one another since his tryst with Jordyn Woods , Khloe decided to invite Tristan over to see True before the party–which is where she says he awkwardly tried to kiss her (seems like a pattern for him, huh?). Later on, at the party, we see Kanye and Tristan deep in conversation for what seems like a pretty long time, which sends Kim over to assess the situation. Ye explains that Tristan went over to confront him about his music being used in KUWTK promo videos to “push a narrative” about his whole cheating scandal, which Thompson wasn’t a fan of. For some reason, this conversation leads Khloe to storm out of her own daughter’s party crying. Check out a few clips from the episode down below to see what went down with Khloe and Tristan’s relationship after their drama-filled break-up.

Michael Jackson’s Daughter, Paris, Checks 50 Cent Over His Comments About Her Father

Source: Taylor Hill / Getty The Michael Jackson , Chris Brown comparisons aren’t new. They’ve been a thing since Breezy hit the scene in 2007 as a singer with crazy dance moves, but usually with respect to MJ’s legacy. 50 Cent , who often shares his opinions in a harsh manner, recently chimed in on whether or not Chris Brown is the modern day King of Pop but MJ’s daughter, Paris Jackson , wasn’t here for his two cents.   Sign Up For Our Newsletter! NFL, Roc Nation Will Donate $400K To Chicago Youth Programs, Meek Mill, Rapsody & Vic Mensa Will Visit

Source: Bernard Smalls / @PhotosByBeanz JAY-Z has been catching heat following the announcement of his partnership with the NFL. Many were quick to try and cancel Hova without letting things pan out. Slowly but surely, we are learning what Roc Nation’s involvement with the NFL’s Inspire Change initiative will bring starting with Chicago’s youth. According to TMZ , sources close to the NFL revealed the league will be donating $400,000 to 2 Chicago groups that give at-risk youth alternatives to gangs and gun violence. Meek Mill, Meghan Trainor as well as Rapsody and Vic Mensa will be visiting both of the programs that were handpicked and vetted by Roc Nation. Per TMZ : One of the groups is  BBF (Better Boys Foundation) Family Services — which, we’re told, Vic and Rapsody will visit Wednesday. Founded in the 1960s … BBF says it provides education, employment, and youth services, as well as family health programs to more than 400 families. The other group,  Crusher’s Club , says its mission is to help Chicago kids “restore their lives and improve their neighborhoods.” Meghan and Meek will be at Crusher’s on Thursday … ahead of their NFL Kickoff concert. As we reported, Meek and Meghan came on board, not just to perform the NFL Kickoff concert, but as  advocates for Inspire Change  — the league’s arm to support player and team efforts to focus on education, police and community relation and criminal justice reform. According to the celebrity gossip site, Chicago will serve as the “prototype” for future philanthropic endeavors with the NFL, Roc Nation, and Players Coalition continuing to do the same in every NFL city. Looks it’s more than just “merch” and concerts being pushed in the name of social justice. Does this change your view on Jigga man’s deal with the NFL? Or is he still on the cancellation block?
