Eminem: Father of Rapper’s Adopted Daughter Sentenced to Prison

Even casual fans of Eminem’s music are familiar with the intense domestic drama that’s defined much of the rapper’s life. Following a tumultuous childhood characterized by neglect and abuse, Em — whose real name is Marshall Mathers — entered a famously unhealthy marriage with Kim Scott. Marshall and Kim weren’t married for long, but their relationship had an indelible impact on the hip hop legend’s life. Not only did the former couple have a daughter together, Mathers adopted Kim’s niece, Alaina, as well as her daughter Whitney from another relationship. As one of the wealthiest recording artists on the planet, Em was able to provide a better life for Kim’s niece and daughter. But he was not able to insulate them entirely from the challenges presented by their unstable families. According to a report published Friday by Radar Online, Whitney’s father, Eric Hartter, has been sentenced to several months in prison on drug charges. The decision was handed down while Hartter was already behind bars on unrelated charges. Back in December, the 40-year-old was arrested for allegedly stealing about $200 worth of Red Bull from a CVS store. While serving time for that crime, Hartter was arrested a second time for possession of felony contraband, including Fentanyl and methamphetamine. This week, the judge in Hartter’s case sentenced him to 153 days in jail. Hartter was credited for time served following his previous arrest, but he must still serve at least two months behind bars. While he has never been one of Whitney’s primary caretakers, insiders say Hartter has maintained a relationship with his daughter, who is said to be devastated by her father’s never-ending legal issues. No one with ties to Whitney or Eminem has commented publicly on the case. News of Hartter’s sentence comes just weeks after another tragic development in the Mathers family. Eminem’s father, Marshall Bruce Mathers passed away after suffering a massive heart attack last month. The younger Mathers was not on speaking terms of his father at the time of his death, It appears that Eminem is doing his best to reverse the trend of absentee father figures within his extended family. Sadly, it looks as though the process has often been a painful one. View Slideshow: Hailie Mathers: Lose Yourself in Eminem’s Daughter on Instagram!

Ja Rule Will Not Be Held Liable In Fyre Festival Lawsuits

Source: Netflix / Fyre Ja Rule is breathing a huge sigh of relief this week. His neck will not be on the line for one of the biggest concert scandals in history. Page Six is reporting that the “Always On Time” rapper is no longer on the legal hook for the Fyre Festival. A judge at a federal Manhattan court ruled that Atkins will no longer be included in the civil suit filed by consumers who paid thousands of dollars each for tickets. On Wednesday, July 10 Judge P. Kevin Castel stated that Ja was “not alleged to have known of individual ticket or merchandise sales”. Originally billed as a “luxury music festival”, Fyre ended up being a fraudulent struggle of epic proportions. When guests arrived in the Bahamas for the opening weekend they were greeted with  cheese sandwiches and FEMA tents instead of gourmet meals and luxury villas they were promised. But the inferior accommodations didn’t stop there as there was no electricity or working bathrooms in place. The scene quickly turned into a modern day  Lord of the Flies . Ja was not in attendance when Judge Castel ruled but his legal team communicated the Queens native’s appreciation. “Mr. Atkins is thankful for today’s ruling and for the Court’s time and attention. Justice was done today” explained Ryan Smith. Organizer Billy McFarland was found guilty of defrauding a total of $27 million dollars. He is currently serving six months in prison. The story was detailed in the jaw dropping Netflix documentary FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened.  Photo: Derrick Salters / WENN.com

Super Beauty Founder TiffanyJ Aims To Empower Black Youth Through Book Series And Doll Line

Read the original post:

N avigating adolescence was an uphill battle for South Carolina-bred entrepreneur TiffanyJ . The pressures of fitting in with her peers, her ongoing struggle with low self-esteem and depression and dealing with the complexities of a torn family that had been ravaged by divorce led to her first suicide attempt at 12 years old. Sadly, stories similar to TiffanyJ’s have become far too common amongst Black youth today. According to a study released by JAMA Pediatrics , the suicide rate for Black children is twice the rate of whites. Further research revealed that the suicide rate amongst Black girls between the ages of 13 and 19 increased by 182 percent between 2001 and 2017. While the experiences of Black youth are not monolithic and there are several different factors that come into play that shapes their lives, the alarming trend must be addressed. TiffanyJ is on a mission to prevent other Black children from becoming statistics and has been dedicated to using her creativity and artistry as a source of empowerment through her brand Super Beauty . The music artist, motivational speaker and business owner has always been passionate about using her own experiences to help others heal from their trauma. As a teen, she coped with her depression by turning to songwriting. In adulthood, she continues to utilize her creativity to heal. In 2018, she launched the Super Beauty doll line. The plush doll was created to empower Black girls who have found themselves in the same shoes that TiffanyJ was in as a child. Designed to help youngsters overcome depression and other forms of mental illness, the doll says over 20 positive phrases of upliftment. The Super Beauty mascot travels around the country to speak to young girls at schools, churches, and camps. For TiffanyJ, it’s all about representation. “The most rewarding thing about this journey is the responses that I get from what I’ve created. I can honestly say it has been an overwhelming flood of positivity. The joy people get has been the best part of it. It’s confirmation that you’re operating in your purpose,” she told NewsOne. “There is one girl that has every piece of merchandise that we’ve ever sold. She ran up to me at a festival with so much joy. Those types of interactions keep me inspired and motivated.” In 2019, the entrepreneur has taken her brand to new levels. Continuing her mission of empowerment, in February she launched a book called ABCs for the Culture which aims to teach youth about Black history. The book features Black facts from A through Z; some of which won’t be found in regular school curriculums. In the book, “B” stands for the Black Power Movement, “N” is for natural hair, and “S” is for soul. “Paying homage to Black history and culture and sharing our culture with others so they understand the richness of being Black was my ultimate mission. I wanted to inspire and empower our children to be proud and unapologetically Black,” she said. Source: TiffanyJ / TiffanyJ As far as what’s on the horizon for TiffanyJ and the Super Beauty brand, she plans on creating more books and dolls. She also wants to create Super Beauty bedroom decor and coloring books. Cognizant of the struggles faced by Black boys TiffanyJ is developing a character named Handsome Hero so they see themselves reflected. All in all, the entrepreneur wants to continue to help Black youth overcome depression. “Mental health is such a taboo in our community and that’s our biggest hurdle. We have to start showing people that it’s definitely okay to not be okay and we can’t shame them into silence,” she said. “Sharing your story is really powerful. It builds a sense of community and lets individuals know that they’re not alone.” SEE ALSO: Entrepreneur Creates Line Of Dolls To Help Black Girls Who Suffer From Depression Healthy Roots Dolls Empower Black Girls To Embrace Their Natural Hair [ione_media_gallery src=”https://newsone.com” id=”3881857″ overlay=”true”]

The Jux: Danny Green Liberated Of His Possessions Outside Vancouver Airbnb

Source: Vaughn Ridley / Getty Danny Green has got to move better. The two-time NBA champion recently detailed how he was pilfered of his possessions while he was in Vancouver. While appearing on Harrison Sanford’s the Green Room podcast, Green detailed what went down. He was in Vancouver for a basketball camp when he checked into a suspect Airbnb pad that he described as looking “haunted.” This is where we point out that Green makes millions of dollars so we’re guessing he could have afforded a proper hotel. But anyway… While Green and his homie went in to check out the rental, which they said look shabbier than the photos, they left two bags in the car. When they came back downstairs, the bags were gone. “We were there 10 minutes … we go back outside, and pretty much—not robbed of everything—but two book bags gone,” said Green. “We lost electronics, computers, laptops, some camp registry money, stuff like that.” Danny Green’s knowledge about hoods explains why he was a mark. He added, “We didn’t know there was like a ghetto or hood in Vancouver.” “We didn't know there was like a ghetto or hood in Vancouver.” Former Raptors forward Danny Green has revealed he was the victim of a break-in shortly after arriving in Vancouver for a youth basketball camp last week. https://t.co/dBOIeJLJ6X — CTV Vancouver (@CTVVancouver) July 10, 2019 There are hood everywhere Mr. Green. And anyone can get got. Anyone. Now you know.

A post shared by French Montana (@frenchmontana) on Jul 6, 2019 at 4:33pm PDT If only everyone had a friend like French Montana . Ever since his comrade and brother in arms Max B was locked up a decade ago, Montana has gone to extraordinary lengths to make sure Max’s name isn’t forgotten out in a rap game that has a short memory when it comes to certain artists. Yesterday French unexpectedly released the fourth installment of the mixtape series he and Max B began 10 years ago, Coke Wave 4 , and once again kept his man’s name buzzing across the Hip-Hop board. The Paul Couture produced project comes in at 9 cuts deep with zero guest features. Can’t have anyone taking the spotlight from the dynamic duo now can you? In a phone call to Rolling Stone from prison, Max B called the latest chapter of Coke Wave “the equivalent of Kawhi Leonard going to Toronto, winning that championship in one year, and now he’s a super free agent and he can do whatever he wants, make any decisions he wants.” More soberly, he adds, “it shows I can collaborate with other artists of stature and still hold my own.” Then it’s back to charming bluster: “Anybody I fuck with, I’m gonna sound buttery.”  Take a listen to Coke Wave 4 below and let us know if it is indeed something you can spread on your breakfast toast.
