According to a statement via the organization, GLAAD’s Vanguard Award is presented to people who “have made a significant difference promoting acceptance of LGBTQ people.” It went on to say, “Beyoncé and Jay Z are longtime allies and supporters of the LGBTQ community who use their global platforms to share messages that inspire and change the world for the better.” GLAAD noted the work that both Jay-Z and Beyoncé have done throughout their careers on behalf of the LGBTQ community. They include instances like Beyoncé notably speaking out against North Carolina’s anti-LGBTQ “Bathroom Bill” in 2016, also posting a message in support of LGBTQ students after Trump withdrew Obama-era protections for transgender students the following year. Bey has also prominently included LGBTQ people in several of her music videos, along with showcasing transgender actress Laverne Cox in promos for her Ivy Park clothing line. As for her husband Jay-Z, the GLAAD Vanguard Award comes only one year after the rapper received the Special Recognition Award for his song, “Smile,” in which his mother came out as a lesbian. Like Beyoncé, Hov has also made a point of prominently featuring LGBTQ people in his work, also supporting the passage of marriage equality. “Beyoncé and Jay Z are global icons and passionate defenders of human rights and acceptance for all people,” said GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis. “When Beyoncé and Jay Z speak, the world becomes inspired and when it comes to LGBTQ people, their voices of acceptance have been heard loud and clear.” Previous winners of the GLAAD Vanguard Award include Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson, Demi Lovato, Whoopi Goldberg, and Britney Spears. The 2019 GLAAD Media Awards will be held in Los Angeles on March 28th.

Page Six is reporting that the model turned mogul is relaunching her beloved street wear brand. She detailed purchasing the line back in an interview with fashion trade publication WWD . While she did not reveal what she paid to get it back or who it was bought from, she did make it clear the process was not a simple one saying “we had to hunt around to find it”. The brand would go on to gross over $30 million a year and eventually extending their product portfolio to the lingerie, perfume and children’s categories. In 2004 Baby Phat was sold to the Kellwood Company for a rumored $140 million dollars. Fast forward to 2008 Kellwood Company sold a majority stake to Sun Capital Partners. Two years after the deal Simmons was abruptly removed from her seat as creative director. Rapper Fatboy Izzo Premieres New Music Video On BOSSIP Fatboy Izzo raps about his evolution as an artist and a man for his new visual “Forbes List,” featuring Retta Slim. Izzo, the brother of freestyle rapper Fred The Godson, said “Forbes List” will give his fans a sense of “how I’ve changed, where I’m taking my career, and how far I’m going to push myself as a person, and as an artist,” he told BOSSIP. Shot by Les Visuals, “Forbes List” is a single off of Izzo’s album TLKBOUTIT Vol. 1: Endurance, which drops March 22. “With the album ‘TLKBOUTIT Vol. 1: Endurance,’ the music is about the people getting to know Izzo,” he said. “Where I came from and where I’m going. I want people to know that I didn’t let my faults bring me down.” The visual sees a bare-chested Izzo – joined by Retta Slim – rapping in a mansion and sipping Moet surrounded by a bevy of beauties.
