Sad news out of Hollywood today, as legendary actor Albert Finney has passed away at the age of 82. Finney’s family confirmed reports of his passing in a statement to the Associated Press Friday morning. “The family request privacy at this sad time,” read a brief statement. Few details were provided about the cause of Finney’s death, but the family indicated that he passed following “a short illness.” Finney fought kidney cancer in 2011, but it is not known if that illness played a role in his death. Amassing more than 60 credits over the course of his five decades in Hollywood, Finney’s resumé reads like a diverse list of some of the most beloved films of the past 50 years. Whether your tastes run toward action films ( Skyfall , the Bourne franchise), musicals ( Annie, Scrooge ), acclaimed dramas ( Erin Brockovich, Under the Volcano ), or thought-provoking indie fare ( Big Fish, Miller’s Crossing, Before the Devil Knows Your Dead ), Finney not only dabbled in your genre of choice, he helped define it. After rising to fame with his titular role in Tom Jones in 1963, Finney quickly gained a reputation as an actor’s actor. His love of the craft led Finney to continue working on Broadway even after finding success in Hollywood. He eventually earned two Tony nominations to go along with his staggering 5 Oscar nods. Finney also gained widespread acclaim and numerous nominations for his work as Winston Churchill in the 2002 television movie The Gathering Storm . Finney’s thoughtful insights on acting are often quoted by both veteran instructors and up-and-comers in search of inspiration. “I don’t think that we necessarily lie. I mean, we make our living by pretending that we’re someone else. I don’t tell tall tales. I always tell the truth,” he once remarked. “To be a character who feels a deep emotion, one must go into the memory’s vault and mix in a sad memory from one’s own life.” The actor turned down an offer of knighthood in 2000, arguing that the UK’s honors system serves to “perpetuate snobbery.” Finney was married three times, including his tempestuous 8-year romance with actress Anouk Aimée He is survived by his son, Simon, and his widow, Pene Delmage. Our thoughts go out to his family during this difficult time. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2019: In Memoriam

Source: Aryah Lester / Aryah Lester This post originally appeared on A Girl Like Me , a blog for women and girls on The Well Project , and is part of collaboration with HelloBeautiful for National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day . “I still have a dream,” said Martin Luther King, “it is deeply rooted in the American Dream.” Earlier in history, Henry David Thoreau was quoted as saying: “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you’ve imagined!” Dreams that are tied to a confident, better you, tied to career goals and an impact in society, are of the few remnants of our innocent and wondrous childhood fantasies. However, in reality, many of us see career goals bringing personal happiness as fictional as wishing on stars. Discrimination, HIV stigma and social statuses seem to plant us in mud, with a generous percentage of people just achieving enough to manage the next breath. There are times that hope shines through the dense polluted clouds of realism, and we find ourselves thinking that by chance a rare opportunity is afforded to our lives. An unforeseen position, promotion or opportunity teases us with the goals of fantasy coming into the waking light and telling our stories in all facets of public health. If only for a moment, the thought of living our ‘lottery of life’ enters the mind and holds root within the desert of desperation. The dream continues to be just that: an occurrence within our minds that never quite translates into our reality. Hope can be manufactured into dreams coming true, outside the realm of “princesses castles’ and ‘heroes destined to change the world.” My own foray into the world of HIV advocacy and activism for an underserved and vulnerable population has so far seen many of my dreams come true, while at the same time having no visibly viable resources to speak of to many in my community. I now find myself to be the Deputy Executive Director of the Transgender Strategy Center , devoted to the needs of my community, in an area where, historically, there has never existed anything like what we created. It had only previously existed in my dreams. Here are the main ten steps that could assist you with achieving the same for yourself. Simplify your life. Don’t hesitate for opportunities within your ability. Join HIV committees/boards. Volunteer. Network socially. Network online. Network. Make relationships with organizations with a similar mission. Form a coalition. Find volunteers/pro-bono contractors. Search for sponsors to conferences and trainings. Realize realistic time factors. Whatever you do, just don’t give up. You guys, we’re starting to think Chris Brown may have an anger problem. No, really. We think this really could be the case. Just consider the way in which Brown absolutely WENT OFF on Offset this week… Fresh off an allegation of rape , the singer blasted Cardi B’s husband after Offset stood up for his troubled friend, 21 Savage. And we mean blasted . Allow us to explain what happened, okay? Last Sunday morning, 21 Savage was detained by ICE and threatened with deportation. Targeted as part of a raid, rapper really may be kicked out of the United States due to a visa issue and forced to return to the United Kingdom. It’s a pretty sensitive issue… that Brown made fun of by sharing footage in which someone with a British accent does a voiceover against the backdrop of an Offset music video. “CMON FAM, STOP PLAYING WIT DA MANS DEM,” Brown wrote as a caption. Replied Offset, who released a collaborative album with 21 Savage in 2017, “Memes ain’t funny lame.” And that was enough to trigger Brown. Big time. YOU LIL BOY. BETTER WORRY ABOUT WHAT U GOT GOING AND FOCUS ON “YOU,” Brown wrote to Offset, adding in even more anger: All this call on IG IS WHAT’S LAME. YO ENERGY WONT LIKE THAT WHEN I CAME TO THE DRAKE SHOW IN LA… IF U DONT GET YO A HIOP A HOP A HIBBET A BIBBET TO THE HIP HIP HOP AND YA DONT STOP THE ROCKIN FACEASS… OUT TO MY COMMENTS. Brown wasn’t finished throwing his tempter tantrum, either. He concluded as follows: SENSITIVE ASS N-GGA. CALL ME PERSONALLY. U WANT SOME CLOUT WHEN ALL YOU GOTTA DO IS PULI UP. No camera no flexing and all at! IF YOU A REAL MAN FIGHT ME. Oh and another thing, SUCK MY DICK!!! Offset did eventually reply to Brown’s message on his Instagram Stories writing, “Coke head don’t want [smoke emoji].” He then deleted this message. Offset’s defense of 21 Savage comes after Cardi B, with whom he recently reconciled, called out conservative moron pundit Tomi Lahren on Twitter after she Tweeted about 21 Savage’s arrest. “I got one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight ICE agents ready to deport ya,” Lahren wrote in reference to the lyrics of 21 Savage’s song “Bank Account.” “Don’t make me get my leash,” Cardi wrote back, referring to a previous viral Tweet where she told Lahren that she would “dog walk” her . Meanwhile in a statement released Tuesday, 21 Savage’s attorneys addressed the claims that the artist overstayed his visa, along with the fan speculation that he was targeted due to a recent anti-ICE rap. This statement reads as follows… Many have speculated as to possible ulterior motives for his arrest and detention, including that he released music five days prior to his arrest by ICE, which included new lyrics condemning the behavior of immigration officials for their detention of children at the border. Mr. Abraham-Joseph was born in the United Kingdom. Mr. Abraham-Joseph arrived legally in the United States at the age of 7. He remained in the United States until 2005, when he departed for approximately one month to visit the United Kingdom. He returned to the United States under a valid H-4 visa on July 22, 2005. Mr. Abraham-Joseph has been continuously physically present in the United States for almost 20 years, except for a brief visit abroad. Unfortunately, in 2006 Mr. Abraham-Joseph’s legal status expired through no fault of his own ICE provided incorrect information to the press when it claimed he had a criminal conviction.
It’s been over four months since Bill Cosby reported to prison to begin serving a 3-10 year sentence on sexual assault charges. Throughout the lengthy downfall that led to the 81-year-old’s imprisonment, Camille Cosby, Bill’s wife of 55 years, stood by his side. Court reporters were quick to point out, however, that toward the end of Cosby’s trial for the rape of Andrea Constand , the disgraced comic was supported only by his legal team. Insiders now claim that as the evidence mounted, Camille realized that she had been in denial for decades and that Cosby was, in fact, guilty of the horrendous crimes he’d been accused of. Now, Camille is reclaiming her freedom and sending a clear message to her monstrous husband: If you ever get out of that place alive, don’t come looking for me. According to Radar Online, Camille has yet to visit Bill in prison . And sources close to the 74-year-old say she’s soon to deliver a devastating blow by filing for divorce from Bill. “Camille is actively getting advice from several of the top divorce lawyers in the country,” an insider tells Radar Online. “It’s only a matter of time before she files the papers.” The source says Bill was initially in denial about being rejected by Camille. But he began to get the message loud and clear when she refused to visit, answer his phone calls, or in any way acknowledge the couple’s 55th wedding anniversary on January 25. “For every other couple, that would have been a big celebration, but Camille could hardly be bothered to pick up the phone,” the insider says. “She talked to him for four minutes before hanging up. It’s pretty obvious she doesn’t care about him anymore.” And it seems Camille has devised a clever method for dodging Bill’s daily efforts to get in contact with her. “Camille will swim in their pool in the morning right before breakfast, again before lunch and then a third time before bed,” the insider claims. “Those are the exact times that Bill has phone privileges.” And if the rumors about Cosby’s deteriorating mental state are true, then being rejected by Camille could be enough to push him over the edge. Prison sources say Cosby has been roleplaying as Dr. Cliff Huxtable — the character he played on The Cosby Show — and administering medical advice to his fellow inmates. It would be enough to make you feel bad for the poor guy. If, ya know … he were anyone other than Bill Cosby. View Slideshow: Bill Cosby: A Look at His Life Behind Bars
We have been spared any major news about Jen Harley and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro for about a month now. Having just checked our archives, we haven’t written about this tumultuous twosome in weeks. It was a nice break, especially because now that we check back in on the roller coaster couple, we find out that… … they are as effed up as ever. On Wednesday morning, Harley jumped on her Instagram Stories and slammed her on-again, off-again boyfriend for his latest actions. Or his latest in actions, as the case appears to be. “I’m sorry but if you go away for 6 weeks to become a better boyfriend, father, person, etc to work on your family but you choose to cancel all of our plans on Valentine’s Day so you can appear on a dating show bc you need the money that bad over your family… “You’re a joke,” Jen wrote, asking: “How did you better anything?” We don’t know the exact context here. It sounds like maybe all was quiet on the Harley-Ronnie front because the two simply weren’t around one another — which does track, considering any time they are around each other, the insults (and sometimes even the fists) fly. We just scoured the Internet, however, and have no idea what dating show Jen is referring to here. “You continue to put us back in the same position by doing the same things that put us there in the first place,” she concluded in her message to Ronnie, laying the guilt on thick. The last time we heard from Harley, she was trashing Ronnie as a total narcissist and a freak . That remark came just two weeks after Harley and Ronnie posed with their baby daughter for some adorable Christmas photos… … and just days after they got into another very heated confrontation. The stars got into a major fight on New Year’s Eve, which concluded with Ronnie being accused of ransacking Harley’s home and and Harley being accused of hurling a glass ashtray at Ronnie . Ronnie shared multiple photos, such as the one below, of the facial wounds caused by this alleged act. This is pretty much how the relationship has gone for over a year now. But it’s more sad than entertaining simply because the pair welcomed a girl named Ariana in April. Despite this seemingly ugly and painful fight just over a month ago, apparently Ronnie and Harley were still together — based on her Instagram Stories quite and reference to their Valentine’s Day planned. Those have now been scrapped, however. And Jen is ready to move on. At least for the occasion of February 14, that is. “If any of my friends don’t have a date, I have an AMAZING day planned you can join me,” she later shared on Instagram Stories. “I was alone last vday to. So I’m really excited to do something special this year.” Extend the idea of spending Valentine’s Day without Ronnie to every day for the rest of her life without Ronnie… and this sounds like a good plan. We know that Wendy WIlliams plans to return to television . In the mean time, some special guests are filling in. One of them is Nick Cannon, who has special insight into Pete Davidson's romance with Kate Beckinsdale . Nick calls Kate a “cougar,” but mostly takes the opportunity to roast Pete's ex, Ariana Grande. “Last night I was hanging out with my little brother, Pete Davidson,” Nick tells the audience. He elaborates, saying: “We were in Brooklyn!” “We were having some good conversation,” he shares, adding: “We were having cougar conversations.” It's no mystery what he means by that. Pete is 25 years old. Kate Beckinsale, with whom he has been repeatedly spotted in recent weeks, is 45. (She really is! I didn't believe it, either) “I taught that young boy well,” Nick brags. He is implying that it was at his instruction that Pete hooked up with the outrageously hot Kate Beckinsale. “I will take credit for it,” Nick announces. “I'm the one who told him, 'Get you an older woman, man!' I said that.” “Leave them little pop stars alone!” Nick advised Pete, he says. “An old woman knows what she wants!” he tells the audience. “She don't play no games!” Is Nick really characterizing Kate Beckinsale as old ? “That's what I'm talking about,” Nick says. “Get you somebody older!” “Them little pop stars,” Nick characterizes. “They don't know!” That sounds pretty condescending, but Nick does have an example. “They giving Japanese menus tattooed on their backs from the sushi restaurant,” he jokes. Ariana attempted to get “7 Rings” tattooed on her hand. Instead, the kanji spells out “BBQ.” “I'm joking,” Nick clarifies. “But that is Ariana Grande's hand.” “I think that's even after she tried to fix it,” he says. Actually, this image is after she tried to fix it but accidentally made it worse . “That's some young girl stuff,” Nick declares. “Older women don't like tardy barbecues,” he says. Nick then jokes: “They like chitlins and grits.” We cannot speak as to Kate Beckinsale's dietary preferences. Nick appears to be making a reference to some traditional Southern dishes that might be viewed as “soul food.” He's trying to speak to Wendy Williams' core audience, but he might be laying it on a little thick. Nick Cannon does admit that he doesn't have that much high ground when it comes to tattoos. He famously had a back tattoo of Mariah Carey's name back when they were together. “That was for love! That's love right there,” Nick explains “I just added to it,” he says. “I put some more on there.” That doesn't seem all that different from Ariana's tattoo. The real difference is that Ariana's tat's problem isn't the intended content, but the poorly translated execution. Pete Davidson is a comedian. He understands that his friends are going to use their conversations as material. But is Kate Beckinsale going to enjoy being called an “old woman,” or even a “cougar,” by one of Pete's friends? She'll probably just ignore it, but it's just not a cool thing to say. Don't get me wrong, I'm a lifelong member of the 30-is-old crowd, but you don't go around calling a 45-year-old woman “old.”
