But after securing Eminem for what would become “Roman’s Revenge,” she was able to breathe easy. “That was my coming-out record,” she told Power 105 radio host DJ Clue in an interview airing later Tuesday night (November 23). All the pressure of putting together her album was in the past by the time she recorded “Roman’s Revenge,” Minaj said, so she was free. She secured Kanye West, Drake, Rihanna and more A-listers for the project, but the Queens lyricist more than held her own. On the blistering track, she delivers jaw-dropping lines that many have translated as an attack against Lil’ Kim . But the femcee has downplayed the tension between the two, letting the track speak for itself. When Clue pressed her about the reason for the rift during the interview, Minaj said she has moved beyond any lingering issues the two may have had. “I don’t even want to discuss it anymore,” she said. “That’s water under the bridge. I don’t think about it, only when people bring it up.” Nicki was a little more aggressive when asked about Kim in an interview Monday with New York’s Hot 97. “When you see Gaga, you see Madonna — but Madonna never hated on Gaga,” Nicki said. “Why in the black community we gotta hate on each other instead of saying, ‘Thank you for showing me love, thank you for keeping my name alive’? The same way she opened doors for me, I’m opening doors for her. Nobody was playin’ your music and you damn sure couldn’t get an interview to save your life. You getting interviews, and every time you do interviews they’re asking you about Nicki Minaj. So it’s like we help each other. That’s the point, we’re helping each other.
