Music and fashion icon Prince was rushed to the hospital Friday morning after his plane made an emergency landing in Illinois, reports TMZ . According to the site, the singer’s jet made an unscheduled landing at Quad City International Airport in Rock Island County, Illinois around 1 a.m. on Friday. After touching down, he was taken to an area hospital in an ambulance. The “Purple Rain” singer had performed a concert in Atlanta on Thursday evening before boarding the plane. While the nature of the emergency was unclear at first, sources now say that Prince had been battling the flu for a number of weeks. He had canceled two concerts last week but was determined to play the show in Atlanta, even though he was still ill. Once in the air, he began to feel much worse, so the private jet made the emergency landing. The 57-year-old was reportedly treated and released after three hours, and then hopped back on the plane. He is now resting at home. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer released his latest album, HITnRUN Phase One, in September 2015. Prince has updated his Twitter account in the hours following the incident, writing “I am #transformed” just eight hours ago. View Slideshow: 24 Musicians Who Died Too Young
“December 3rd, 2015 is not the day Scott Weiland died,” Mary Fosberg writes. “It is the official day the public will use to mourn him, and it was the last day he could be propped up in front of a microphone for the financial benefit or enjoyment of others.” Fosberg is Weiland’s ex-wife and mother of his two children, Noah, 15 and Lucy, 13. The couple married in 2000, and split up seven years later. In an open letter to fans (published on RollingStone.com), Fosberg asked that Weiland’s death not be “glorified.” The Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman died of cardiac arrest on his tour bus in Minnesota. Police also found small amounts of cocaine in his room. In the letter, Fosberg criticized those who called Weiland’s behavior – which involved forgetting lyrics and falling on stage – “art” rather than a cry for help. She also wrote about how that affectd his ability to be any kind of father to their children. “The truth is, like so many other kids, they [Noah and Lucy] lost their father years ago. What they truly lost on December 3rd was hope. “We are angry and sad about this loss, but we are most devastated that he chose to give up,” Fosberg continued, urging adults to be a positive part of a child’s life. “I don’t share this with you to cast judgment, I do so because you most likely know at least one child in the same shoes. “If you do, please acknowledge them and their experience. Offer to accompany them to the father-daughter dance, or teach them to throw a football. “Even the bravest girl or boy will refrain from asking for something like that; they may be ashamed, or not want to inconvenience you. Just offer – or even insist if you have to.” Fosberg ended the letter with a plea to face addiction rather than bury it. “Let’s choose to make this the first time we don’t glorify this tragedy with talk of rock and roll and the demons that, by the way, don’t have to come with it.” View Slideshow: 24 Musicians Who Died Too Young

Iyanla Vanzant is all about teaching people to “rebuild, restructure and redefine” their lives. The 62-year-old spiritual advisor learned this lesson over 40 years ago. She was 21 years old at the time and had just given birth to her third child. Still suffering from post-partum depression, the young mother decided to end her life. “I took a bunch of pills. I was in the kitchen, on the floor, and I could feel myself losing consciousness,” Vanzant says in a clip from OWN’s upcoming seven-night series, “Belief.”… “In that moment, I saw what I believe to be the Divine Mother. She said to me, ‘Do you really want to die?’ And I said, ‘No. I just don’t want to hurt anymore.’”… She was admitted into a psychiatric hospital where she was treated for depression. There, she learned to sort through her thoughts and emotions in a healthy way. [ MadameNoire ] “Be Wrong Stron”: Don Cheadle Kills It As Miles Davis In First Clip From Miles Ahead Last year, Don Cheadle launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to create a biopic covering Miles Davis’s storied life and career. Fast forward more than a year later and the finished product, Miles Ahead, will make its debut this weekend at the New York Film Festival. And while there’s no official release date for Miles Ahead in theaters as of yet, the buzz surrounding the film is massive… A clip from Miles Ahead has been released in preparation for Sunday’s festival premiere. In it, Davis can be seen making magic in the studio, telling the musicians if they’re going to mess up, “be wrong strong” before taking over on the trumpet. [ MadameNoire ] John Ridley Bringing Rodney King & L.A. Riots To The Big Screen It has been approximately 23 years since the L.A. Riots gripped the entire nation in the wake of four police officers getting off scot-free for the brutal–and videotaped–beating of Rodney King… Broad Green Pictures and Imagine Entertainment, famously owned by Hollywood giants Ron Howard and Brian Glazer, are joining forces to present the L.A. Riots in dramatized format to audiences and they have called for 12 Years a Slave Oscar winner John Ridley to man the director’s chair. Ridley, who currently oversees his successful ABC creation, American Crime, last directed in 2013 for Andre 3000 in the Jimi Hendrix biopic, All Is by My Side and the still untitled film’s financiers couldn’t be any more thrilled to have him onboard. Following the success of “Get Lucky,” the first single off their new album Random Access Memories, Daft Punk has teamed with Durex for a line of condoms. Seriously. The Get Lucky (what else) brand showcases their logo alongside a photo of the French twosome with Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers. The endorsement does make some sense, considering the lyrics to the song: “She’s up all night ’til the sun / I’m up all night to get some,” Pharrell croons. “She’s up all night for good fun / I’m up all night to get lucky!” President Barack Obama would no doubt approve. No release date has been set for the condoms, but Durex apparently sent samples out to high profile DJs. Diplo posted a picture of the (empty) box on his Instagram, writing, “Thank god I had those daft punk condoms last night” In other Daft Punk news, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalteris (the musicians behind the robot helmets) will also become action figures. Warning: If you’re most excited by this announceent, you may not even need the condoms at all! And in other, other Daft Punk news, if you haven’t listened to “Evolution of Get Lucky” by PV Nova, do so immediately. The brilliant remix transports the song to every decade from 1920s to the 2020s.
Got H-Ron ? Macaulay Culkin has been over there acting up in the UK. Via Daily Mail reports : Actor and DJ Macaulay Culkin was reportedly ‘cursing and screaming’ as he left a Brighton night club in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The 32-year old had been attending a friend’s gig at The Haunt, but as he exited the venue he allegedly grew irate and launched himself at a waiting photographer. According to an eye-witness, the actor cursed at his target, telling him to ‘go to hell.’ Wearing the same outfit as the day earlier, Macaulay hid his face behind a pair of RayBan wayfarer sunglasses and a camouflage scarf. He could be seen grabbing a man while, the gentleman attempted to push the Richie Rich star back. Another man tried to restrain Culkin, but he continued to launch himself at the photographer. Onlookers then watched Culkin jump into a waiting van, transporting his friends Adam Green and Binki Shapiro. Those already in the vehicle did not react as their American companion aggressively made his way inside. At approximately 1.30am, Macaulay arrived at the Ibis hotel, covering his face with his scarf until he was safely inside the lobby. Mail Online have contacted Culkin’s representatives for comment. The reason for Macaulay’s outburst is unknown, and is the first of its kind since he arrived in the UK to join his friend Adam Green on tour. Coincidentally, his ex-girlfriend Mila Kunis is also in the country, filming Jupiter Ascending, although it is not known if any contact was made between the pair. The former child star has travelled to Manchester, London and Bristol already with the musicians, and even joined the band onstage at the latter to perform a Beach Boys cover. However in London, a fellow club-goer saw Culkin looking rather worse for wear, and even mistook him for a homeless man. Student Marley Spindler met Culkin outside The Village Undeground, in the early hours, telling Radar Online: ‘We chatted for about five minutes and he said he was in London seeing friends though he was vacant, speaking very quietly and mellow. He looked spaced out.’ ‘I didn’t recognize him at first — I thought it was some homeless guy who was scrounging a smoke.’ SMH. Jacko is probably rolling over in his grave right now. Get ya life together. SplashNews/WENN
