Dancing With the Stars kicked off its 13th season last night with all eyes on Chaz Bono. While the producers (sagely) saved his performance for last, we won’t make you wait for the verdict on his parquet debut: Not altogether terrible! The show’s first-ever transgender contestant is not exactly a natural dancer – his mom Cher made that clear – and it showed. However, with the guidance of Lacey Schwimmer, Chaz more than held his own out there.
Ryan O’Neal was all but confirmed to appear on Dancing With the Stars this season … until he wasn’t. The reason, sources say, is his disdain for Nancy Grace. Sources close to the Ryan say he was set to do the show but pulled out late when he learned Grace would be a part of the Dancing With the Stars cast . The actor is steamed about Grace’s recent harsh words for his son Redmond O’Neal , who has drug problems, and for suggesting Ryan is a bad parent. For her part, Grace is perplexed that O’Neal dropped out of her, telling TMZ , she never said anything bad about him … even loosely or tangentially. “We have never covered Mr. O’Neal nor his family on our show,” the pundit said, adding that, “I hate that he dropped out of Dancing With the Stars .” “I would have loved to compete with him and wish him the very best.” Grace says she considers O’Neal to be one of the great actors of our time and she finds his relationship with Farrrah Fawcett “an inspiration to me.” Well, somebody’s clearly not telling the truth here. Chaz Bono is under immense scrutiny and pressure as he preps for a stint on Dancing With the Stars, but is all smiles in a just-released promotional pic from ABC, his arm wrapped around bona fide cutie partner Lacey Schwimmer. Hey, as a newly-minted straight man, life could be a lot worse. Watch out, Jennifer Ella . Just kidding. Chaz’s fiancee has nothing to worry about … probably. Here’s Chaz Bono and Lacey, Kristin Cavallari and Mark Ballas, and the rest of the Dancing With the Stars pairing. Click to enlarge and vote in our poll: Who will win Dancing With the Stars?
T.I. was released from an Arkansas prison this morning, according to reports . The rapper is now bound for a halfway house of some kind or home confinement. Back in September 2010, he was sentenced to 11 months in prison after a drug possession arrest on the Sunset Strip. There may have been sizzurp involved. In any case, it was a clear violation of his probation. T.I. served only about a year for a federal gun conviction in 2009, but after he and wife Tiny were busted in 2010, his probation was yanked and back he went. Chris Burke, spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, says T.I. was released at 7:29 a.m. local time and “in transit” to begin the next leg of his sentence. T.I. checked November 1 and was originally scheduled to be released September 29, so he appears to have had about a month shaved off this leg. Here’s hoping he focuses solely on good deeds now, and Tiny can take care of her man’s needs without having to worry about a guard seeing. [Photo: Fame Pictures]

Are they misunderstood, grieving grandparents? Gold-digging weirdos? It’s unclear to say the least. Perhaps Dr. Phil can figure out George and Cindy Anthony. The September 12 season premiere of the Dr. Phil Show will find Phil sitting across from the parents of America’s most hated individual, Casey Anthony. The Anthonys will discuss their daughter’s trial, during which they both testified, what their lives are like now, and finally the million-dollar question: Did Casey kill Caylee Anthony? Here’s Phil’s promo: Dr. Phil Interview Promo Casey Anthony trial: Did the jury get it right?
While her sister Beyonce was revealing her pregnancy , Solange Knowles made headlines for less positive reasons in Miami, Fla., on Sunday night. According to reports, Solange and her crew were rejected from a club because they had a balloon, which they decided to cross the street to pop. Yes, this happened … and resulted in a run-in with the cops. There they encountered two off duty police officers, and a conversation ensued, which was “casual and light-hearted” at first. Then it went bad. Apparently, the authorities were not enthralled about Solange being there, or about the balloon, which they brandished a weapon to destroy. Police say Solange was “armed” with a “five-foot inflatable banana.” We’re serious. According to Solange’s rep, these events followed : One officer pulled out a switchblade and threatened to pop the balloon. They felt it was inappropriate, but the turning point happened when he then took out the switchblade a second time with the blade open and said to them, ‘I don’t find the humor in this, anymore.’ The blade was less than a couple feet away from Solange and her friends. The officer proceeded to “forcefully” ask them to move, gesturing that they cross the street though there was oncoming traffic. Solange then asked the officer what was it that they did wrong, and he forcefully responded again to move. When a taxi pulled up, they got in and headed home. Solange made a series of calls to report the incident and was told to be prepared to be arrested when she came in to report the incident if her story was false. Solange simply wanted to report that the officer pulled out a weapon, when she had done nothing illegal, disruptive or belligerent. Solange is filing a report and has not yet decided on further legal action . The Miami Beach police said in rebuttal that Solange became unruly, loudly complaining of being rejected from the club for racial reasons. Solange inisists she never once raised her voice, although even if she did, cops whipping out a switchblade may not have been necessary. Beyonce’s sis has also gone on to state her sincerest disappointment with the Miami Beach Police and how they have handled this matter. No word if the matter will be pursued any further. Chaz Bono’s joining the Dancing With the Stars cast gave the show major publicity, but it wasn’t just done as a stunt or a favor to the LGBT community. Based on what we know of past seasons and those who have made long runs on the show, Chaz – if he can dance at all – could be among the favorites. Below, THG breaks down the prospects for the man formerly known as Chastity Bono (with girlfriend Jennifer Ella, below) and the rest of the dancers … Favorites: David Arquette, Chaz Bono, Ron Artest, Hope Solo, Ricki Lake If anyone has the notoriety that they can utilize to gain interest and build fan support, it’s Bono, who will be paired with a female professional dancer. David Arquette is probably the show’s second biggest “get,” especially after his separation from wife Courteney Cox and subsequent bizarre behavior. We don’t know if either one can dance, admittedly. But assuming there’s any kind of rhythm there, each could go on fairly sustained runs this fall. As for Ron Artest (the player soon to be known as Metta World Peace), pro athletes tend to do well, and Ron is very likable beneath the crazy exterior. Ditto for U.S. World Cup soccer goalie Solo. Ricki Lake, meanwhile, fits the Jennifer Grey mold, having starred in a dance-themed cult classic film. Underdogs: Nancy Grace, Rob Kardashian We could well be proven wrong here, but these would be our picks to go home first. Nancy Grace is a polarizing figure and likely won’t change that. As for Kardashian, DWTS is not necessarily kind to reality stars. The fan base is a little different, so he’s likely coming in as one of the lesser-knowns. Plus, even those that love the Kardashians kind of hate the Kardashians. Dark Horses: Chynna Phillips, Kristin Cavallari, Elisabetta Canalis Phillips has a fan base from her music and acting, even if each is a bit dated. Canalis is George Clooney’s ex . That’ll have people curious for sure. Cavallari could be a bust or the real deal. Remember Audrina Patridge? She finished fifth her season and was totally robbed from advancing further. Kristin’s pretty, sassy and could build some strong support. Maybe. Wild Cards: J.R. Martinez, Carson Kressley Martinez, the actor and Iraq War veteran whose body was 40 percent burned after a landmine explosion, will touch more hearts every week he lasts. The question is whether he can do well enough to get through the first few weeks where he may be the cast’s least-known member. Total wild card. Finally, Carson Kressley of Queer Eye For the Straight Guy . He’s fallen off the radar a bit in recent years, but still has a loyal following. How loyal? Stay tuned. This is just THG’s take. Now tell us yours: Who do you think will win DWTS Season 13? Vote!
Major Dancing With the Stars spoilers scoop this afternoon. The new cast has been leaked in advance of tonight’s official announcement on Bachelor Pad ! Over the weekend, we learned Chaz Bono would be participating (and dancing with a woman, as he is legally a man now). That was pretty big news. As for those who will compete against him? At least according to the buzz we’ve heard, there are some big names – with ABC bigwigs apparently insisted on – but plenty of d-listers to go around. It’s a group sure to get people talking, but with a considerable component of viewers shrieking “worst cast ever!” Those viewers will then tune in anyway. So here they are after the jump: Kristin Cavallari Ricki Lake Chynna Phillips Hope Solo Elisabetta Canalis David Arquette Rob Kardashian Ryan O’Neal Junior Martinez (?) Chaz Bono Ron Artest Nancy Grace Casey Anthony (kidding) Note the lack of Snooki, Queen Latifah OR Tiffiani Thiessen, three reported “gets” this fall. Thoughts on the new Dancing With the Stars cast? Lindsay Lohan is suing rapper Pitbull over disparaging lyrics in one of his songs. He does zing her pretty good, but a lawsuit? Get outta town. The hit song, “Give Me Everything,” contains this line: Hustlers move aside, so I’m tiptoein’, to keep flowin’, I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan . Oooh, that one hurt! Pitbull – Give Me Everything ft. Ne-Yo, Afrojack, Nayer LiLo claims in her lawsuit that “the lyrics, by virtue of its wide appeal, condemnation, excoriation, disparaging or defamatory statements by the defendants regarding the plaintiff are destined to do irreparable harm to the plaintiff.” Yes, a PITBULL SONG is likely to to her irreparable harm. Lindsay, who LOL-tastically claims she is “a professional actor of good repute and standing in the Screen Actors Guild,” is suing under New York civil rights laws safeguarding one’s name from being exploited for commercial purposes. Lindsay Lohan alleges the song causes her “to be associated in connection with defendants” and seeks to halt broadcasting of the song. Good luck.
