J.R. Smith is known around the NBA as a great shooter and as someone who often takes his shirt off in celebration. But he's now known among celebrity gossip circles for a very different reason. The Cleveland Cavaliers guard and his wife, Jewel Harris, shared a heartbreaking video with fans on Saturday. In the footage (below), the couple explains that it just welcomed a baby girl named Dakota into the world. Five months early. After quickly thanking supporters for their concerns over his broken wrist, Smith tells the camera: “We've got very important news.” Harris takes over from there. “We decided to share with the world what's been going on with our family the past five days,” she says, fighting back tears and adding: “We know a lot of you guys congratulated us on the expectancy of our little baby girl, but we had her five months early.” The little girl was five days old as of the filming of this video – and she weighed one pound. “We know we're not the only family going through this, who has been through this, and who will ever go through it,” Jewel said. “That's why we decided to share what we're going through with you guys. Please keep us in your prayers and we'll do the same for everyone else.” J.R. and Jewel were married last August and have two other kids together. Watch their admission and their plea below:

We know that Kardashian has kept a pretty low profile since she was reportedly tied up and robbed in her hotel room in Paris during Fashion Week back in October. As for West, he was hospitalized last month after a series of on-stage rants and cancelling the rest of his Saint Pablo Tour dates. The next time we saw him, he was dragged for meeting up with Donald Trump. [ madamenoire ] BET And Gabrielle Union Settle Lawsuit Over Being Mary Jane In October, Union filed a lawsuit against BET accusing the network of breach of contract. Union’s lawyers said their client agreed to star in Being Mary Jane only after she’d been assured no more than 13 episodes would ever be produced for one season of the show. However, the network was reportedly attempting to cut costs and shoot 20 episodes back-to-back and squeeze them into one season which not only violated that agreement but would’ve also eliminated the pay increase Union is supposed to get with every new season. As a result, Union sought general damages of at least $3 million and a declaration that BET cannot seek more than 13 episodes for any season of Being Mary Jane. BET promised they were “committed to reaching a swift and positive resolution” regarding the lawsuit and it looks like they’ve done just that. Ice Cube has announced the launch of a new 3-on-3 basketball league where retired NBAers will get to show they still got game. The league will be called BIG3 and will feature recently-retired NBA players who still want to play the game at a competitive level. Peep, we said recently retired. So this won’t be like the Legends game that used to happen during NBA All-Star Weekend back in the day. There will be no Karl Malone or Patrick Ewing sightings on the court. Instead, this league will have guys like Stephen Jackson, Kenyon Martin, Jermaine O’Neal and Jason Williams who all have signed on to play according to league officials. Lena Dunham may be best known to many people as the woman who often shows her boobs on television. But the actress is now in major hot water for a different body part: her foot. Because she just went ahead and stuck it way deep into her mouth. While hosting the podcast Women of the Hour , the Girls star told the audience about a visit to a Texas Planned Parenthood years ago, at which time a girl asked her to share her experience with abortion. Dunham, an outspoken liberal who is pro-choice, explains how she “sort of jumped” at the request because she had never had an abortion. She could go out there and fight for equality and for a woman's right to choose and support anyone who has been through this traumatic experience… … but it suddenly hit her: She couldn't empathize. Because she had no idea what it was actually, truly like to have an abortion. Dunham went on to commend those close to her for their “bravery” and “self-knowledge” for having gone through this procedure, saying she realized that needed to put her own stigma surrounding the issue “in the garbage.” And then Dunham said: “Now I can say that I still haven’t had an abortion, but I wish I had.” YIKES, Lena! You wish you had terminated a fetus?!? We think we understand what you were getting at here… we're pretty sure you were just trying to say that you wish you could have an even better perspective on this issue in order to even more strongly advocate for it… but, again: YIKES . Drake. Drizzy. Aubree. Wheelchair Jimmy. The Emo Emcee. Whatever you want to call him, Drake is one of the biggest – and most sensitive – rappers in the game. But while it may make him an easy target for rival rappers, the vulnerable persona seems to be working for him with the ladies, as Drake is quickly becoming the male Taylor Swift in terms of the celebrity notches on his bedpost. (Actually, Drake is the male Taylor Swift in more ways than one, but that’s a discussion for another time.) Given the artists’ shared fondness for sex with other famous people, the rumors that Drake and Taylor were dating didn’t come as much of a shock. (Even if they did turn out to be almost certainly bogus.) In the same vein, it’s both surprising and not remotely surprising that TMZ is now reporting that Drake is dating Jenifer Lopez . It’s unexpected in that J-Lo is 17 years Drake’s senior and just got out of a serious relationship. However, it makes perfect sense when one considers that Drake is so drawn to fame and success we’re surprised he hasn’t pulled a Kanye and buddied up to Trump . See exhibit A, the “Drake turns into the heart-eyes emoji when he hangs out with NBA players” meme as evidence of this phenomenon: Obviously, there are many more reasons to date J-Lo other than her wealth and fame, but we imagine her success is one of the many assets that he’s drawn to (yes,. juvenile pun intended). So what’s the evidence that these two are hooking up? Well, the speculation started when Drake attended Jen’s Vegas show twice in one week. Last night, he rented out Delilah restaurant in West Hollywood in her honor. Granted, they were joined by 20 other people, but it’s still a major gesture for a platonic friend. A source close to the situation says Drake and J-Lo aren’t officially dating yet , but seem to be “headed in that direction.” Careful with that man’s heart, Jen. It’s fragile.
Khloe Kardashian may have played a vital role in saving Lamar Odom’s life, but there’s still not a lot of love lost when it comes to his ex. The reality star’s ex-wife, and his previous ex, Liza Morales, have been at odds in the past, and it looks like emotions are running high again. Following Odom’s return to rehab last week, she posted a message on Instagram following the former NBA star’s decision to get help. The 37-year-old, who shares two kids with Odom (and had a third who died, which we’ll get to shortly), made a statement in the post: “Instead of directly responding to each of the media outlets that have sent emails and dm’s,” Liza Morales began. “Let me express how proud we are of Lamar for taking the necessary steps in his life’s journey.” “This is a private situation that has become public for observation, speculation and judgement.” “This may be media fodder for some, but Lamar is a father, kin and a friend.” “Anyone that has dealt with (or is still dealing) with the same situation with a loved one or friend knows it’s one day at a time.” “In the meantime, Destiny, Lamar Jr and I send light and positivity to their dad and hope you can do the same.” Morales’ supportive message could be interpreted as a dig at Khloe Kardashian, even though she nursed him back to health last year. Khloe, some fans believe, led Lamar to believe they would get re-married, then dropped a bombshell by re-filing for divorce in May. Morales, meanwhile, flies under the radar, but has continued to be a part of Odom’s life and include Lamar in more family events. All while Khloe gets hot and heavy with Tristan Thompson, and flaunts it online. That’s just one interpretation, but it’s not entirely invalid. Moreover, Kardashian revealed just days ago that her entire famous family updated its wills so that she would be their medical adviser. “This is kind of dark, but after that, my whole family changed all of their wills so that I could be their medical adviser,” she told Health . “Because you don’t know how someone reacts until you’re put in that situation,” Khloe said, patting herself on the back a bit perhaps. Odom, to be fair, was not a good husband to Khloe; Kardashian, to be fair, went above and beyond the call of duty when it came to his care. Still, Morales’ passive-aggressive dig is likely rooted in animosity over how Khloe handled things publicly over the course of the ordeal. As for why Lamar is in rehab , Liza is connected to that too. Earlier this month marked the ten-year anniversary of the death of the couple’s baby son, Jayden , who passed away from SIDS in 2006. The couple’s daughter Destiny was born in 1998, Lamar Jr. was born in 2002, and Jayden four years after that, but he died within months. At the time, sources explained that Odom’s decision to get help was “his own decision” and preemeptive “work on his mental and physical health. Good as that sounds as a PR line, it’s rarely that simple. Sources close to Odom have suggested that the little one’s death was one of the reasons he started doing hard drugs in the first place. Those same sources also claim that compounding this issue is the fact that Lamar is having a hard time dealing with the end of his marriage. To Khloe, which was finalized at long last this fall. With all of these factors building up and coinciding with the holidays, it’s a shocking amount to place on one man’s shoulders. Especially one with a long history with addiction. In any case, we do send best wishes to Lamar, and commend him for deciding to get help, which is never an easy decision to make.
