A rep for the transgender star has confirmed that will be embarking on a five-stop speaking tour in 2016 with an organization titled “Unique Lives and Experiences.” Not many details are available regarding the theme of Jenner’s upcoming speeches. But it’s safe to assume she’ll touch on many of the same themes we applauded her for in the Caitlyn Jenner ESPYs speech . Acceptance. Tolerance. Self-confidence. Self-belief. Jenner, of course, came out as a woman in an interview this April with Diane Sawyer. She then went on to chronicle her life in transition during I Am Cait , an eight-episode reality show on E! that has been picked up for a second season. The title of Jenner’s lecture will be “Up Close and Personal” and her mini tour is scheduled to place in Toronto, Vancouver, Denver, San Francisco and Seattle beginning in late February. Tickets are already on sale, ranging from $40 to $500 for a VIP package, depending on the location. Back when she was known as Bruce Jenner, after she won a Gold Medal in 1976, Jenner spent many years on the inspirational speaking circuit. Man Tries to Choke-Out Woman On Southwest Airline Flight For Reclining Her Seat Too Far??? Get a first class ticket, bruh. Via MSNBC A Southwest Airlines flight turned around and made an emergency landing in Los Angeles late Sunday after a woman aboard the plane allegedly claimed a man tried to choke her because of a reclined seat back, according to the airline and witnesses. Southwest would not confirm that a choking incident was involved but said “flight #2010 from LAX to San Francisco International airport returned to Los Angeles to allow police access to the cabin because of a rapidly escalating situation involving passengers who were not traveling together.” Witnesses said the woman claimed the man sitting behind her tried to choke her because she reclined her seat. “Evidently we’ve got two passengers who are in a physical altercation so we need to get turned around and get back to LAX,” the pilot of the plane told Air Traffic Control before landing safely in Los Angeles. FBI spokeswoman, Laura Eimiller, said that a passenger was detained for questioning after the plane returned to Los Angeles, but no arrests were made. The remaining 136 passengers switched planes and would arrive in San Francisco about five hours late, according to Southwest.

Makinde Adeagbo knows how isolating it can be to live and work in Silicon Valley as Black man . The techie says it’s even more isolating to be a software engineer in the sea of white faces… Via Good Black News : Adeagbo, who is an engineer at the San Francisco company Pinterest, says he can go weeks without spotting another black engineer in America’s tech hub. “It’s not only that you are the only black person in the room or in the company, often times you are the only black person you see in Palo Alto or Menlo Park,” says Adeagbo, 30. About 1% of engineers at Facebook and Google are African American. The population of Palo Alto, Calif. is 2% African American, Menlo Park, Calif., is under 5%. Adeagbo says he hit on the idea while volunteering as a mentor to a couple of computer science students. “These students knew they had someone who had their backs, whom they could look up to and reach out to when they needed help. I thought to myself: Every black software engineer could accomplish a lot if they had someone like this,” says Adeagbo. . The name /dev/color is a reference to a common directory on computer systems “as well as our efforts to strengthen the community of Black software engineers, engineers of color,” he says. Adeagbo’s /dev/color is joining Black Girls Code, Code 2040 and the Hidden Genius Project, a new and growing wave of enterprising organizations founded by African Americans aimed at addressing the scarcity of African Americans in the tech industry. “Other black software engineers need to provide this for the black engineers coming behind them,” says Adeagbo, who is splitting his time between /dev/color and Pinterest. “We all need to work together to pull ourselves up and make sure we are accomplishing all that we can.” #BlackSTEMLivesMatter

Congressman Steals Pope’s Water Glass It’s all fun and games when we laugh it up about how insane Beyonce fans are, but it’s nothing compared to Pope Francis’ fanatics , apparently. One disgusting a** congressman stole the crown for craziest stan when he stole the Pope’s water glass which was already half-filled with His Holiness’ backwash. As weird as stealing the Pope’s water glass is already, what Rep. Bob Brady (D-Pa.) did after swiping it is where things got even creepier. Per USA Today : As Pope Francis left the chamber after addressing Congress yesterday, legislators crowded around him, hoping to get a moment with the leader of the Catholic Church. But one man wasn’t among them. That’s because Rep. Bob Brady of Philadelphia was too busy swiping the pope’s water glass, the Philadelphia Daily News reports. Brady was spotted carefully using two fingers to lift the pope’s glass from the podium and carry it back to his office, where he, his wife, and two staffers sipped from it. “How many people do you know that drank out of the same glass as the pope?” Brady asks the Daily News. After letting another congressman and his family dip their fingers in the glass, Brady put the remaining water into a bottle to use to bless his grandchildren later. “The congressman is a Catholic and has immense respect for the Holy Father,” his chief of staff tells ABC News. If the phrase “thou shalt not steal” is running through your head, don’t worry: Brady tells the Washington Post he’s asked the appropriate House officials for a bill so he can pay for the glass. It will eventually go in a cabinet in his home—next to the water glass used by President Obama at his 2008 inauguration. He swiped that one, too. (The pope’s tiny car is making a big impression.) He’s nasty as hell and dumb AF if he thinks he’s now blessed after dipping his germy fingers in that glass and drinking afterwards. After meeting with Pope Francis who is addressing congress today, Boehner told the Republican party that his last day would be in October. The New York Times reports: Speaker John A. Boehner, under intense pressure from conservatives in his party, will resign one of the most powerful positions in government and give up his House seat at the end of October, throwing Congress into chaos as it tries to avert a government shutdown. Mr. Boehner, who was first elected to Congress in 1990, made the announcement in an emotional meeting with his fellow Republicans on Friday morning. The Ohio representative struggled from almost the moment he took the speaker’s gavel in 2011 to manage the challenges of divided government and to hold together his fractious and increasingly conservative Republican members. Most recently, Mr. Boehner, 65, was trying to craft a solution to keep the government open through the rest of the year, but was under pressure from a growing base of conservatives who told him that they would not vote for a bill that did not defund Planned Parenthood. Catholic Priests Accused Of Child Sex Abuse Allowed To Relocate To South America If you’re a Catholic priest who’s been accused and even convicted of sexually abusing children, don’t fret. The Catholic Church will let you relocate to South America so you can continue molesting more children who are too poor to be credible or speak out. Just a few day before Pope Francis’ historic trip to the States, and after he sent out a letter ordering bishops to follow a “zero tolerance policy” on child abuse, comes news pervy priests aren’t actually being dealt with. Via USA Today The Catholic Church has allowed priests accused of sexually abusing children in the United States and Europe to relocate to poor parishes in South America, a yearlong GlobalPost investigation has found. Reporters confronted five accused priests in as many countries: Paraguay, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil and Peru. One priest who relocated to a poor parish in Peru admitted on camera to molesting a 13-year-old boy while working in the Jackson, Miss., diocese. Another is currently under investigation in Brazil after allegations arose that he abused disadvantaged children living in an orphanage he founded there. All five were able to continue working as priests, despite criminal investigations or cash payouts to alleged victims.
