With breakout artist such has Cardi B breaking into the Billboard 100, Taylor Swif t sold 1.2 million in the first week with her debut album Reputation , and new artist such as SZA, Zara Larrsson , and Kehlani even with breakout singles; these artists have not charted. There have been many reasons as to why women have not been charting as they usually do such as some of the female heavy hitters that we depend on to dominate the charts have been taking a break (ex: Beyonce , Adele , and Rihanna with the exception with NERD’s single Lemon ). According to Fader.com female big acts such as Katy Perry who has been chart-topping since the mid-2000s has not been able to break the glass ceiling in the Billboard 100s despite her latest effort with her album Witness released in June made a much smaller dent that she has done in the past. There has been a lack of new women artist breaking through with chart-topping power. Ben Mawson from Tap Management which is the management team that is very hard to launch new female talent due to streaming in which one has to appeal to a global audience right away. Another factor that is stopping women from breaking the glass ceiling regarding topping the charts is a race. Women of color, especially in the genre of rap/ hip-hop, have a higher bar to prove regarding their commercial visibility. Furthermore, when black women embrace other genres that society is not used to (ex: Beyonce singing country with Daddy Lessons ) they are unfairly held back. Ron Glass, a long-time television actor best known for roles on Barney Miller and Firefly, passed away at his home on Friday night. He was 71 years old. According to TMZ insiders, Glass had struggled with a number illnesses of late, while still serving as an active member in the Los Angeles Buddhist community. He had been under the eye of a caretaker when he died. Jeffrey Leavitt, a representative of the former Emmy nominee, confirmed the sad news to TMZ, writing: “Ron passed late last night of respiratory failure. Ron was a private, gentle and caring man. He was an absolute delight to watch on screen. Words cannot adequately express my sorrow.” Glass w inas born 1945 in Evansville, Indiana. He made his small screen debut in the early 1970s with guest appearances on All in the Family, Sanford and Son and Hawaii Five-O, among other hit programs. In 1975, the actor landed the part of Detective Ron Harris on the aforementioned ABC sitcom, Barney Miller. The role earned him a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy or Variety or Music Series in 1982, although he lost the trophy went to Taxi’s Christopher Lloyd. Still, Glass earned critical and viewer acclaim for the role. The series wrapped up in 1982, at which time, Glass co-starred in a short-lived Odd Couple remake titled The New Odd Couple. He also made appearances on The Twilight Zone, Star Trek: Voyager and Family Matters. In the 1990s and 2000s, Glass voiced Randy Carmichael on Nickelodeon’s Rugrats and All Grown Up! Nathan Fillion, who appeared opposite Glass on Firefly, honored his late castmate on Saturday with a photo on Instagram and a quote from Glass’ character on the former Fox series. “We love you, Ron Glass. Don’t go far,” Fillion wrote. Samuel L. Jackson, who worked with Glass on 2008’s Lakeview Terrace, added via Twitter: “It was an Honor & a Pleasure to work with the Amazing Ron Glass! Congressman Steals Pope’s Water Glass It’s all fun and games when we laugh it up about how insane Beyonce fans are, but it’s nothing compared to Pope Francis’ fanatics , apparently. One disgusting a** congressman stole the crown for craziest stan when he stole the Pope’s water glass which was already half-filled with His Holiness’ backwash. As weird as stealing the Pope’s water glass is already, what Rep. Bob Brady (D-Pa.) did after swiping it is where things got even creepier. Per USA Today : As Pope Francis left the chamber after addressing Congress yesterday, legislators crowded around him, hoping to get a moment with the leader of the Catholic Church. But one man wasn’t among them. That’s because Rep. Bob Brady of Philadelphia was too busy swiping the pope’s water glass, the Philadelphia Daily News reports. Brady was spotted carefully using two fingers to lift the pope’s glass from the podium and carry it back to his office, where he, his wife, and two staffers sipped from it. “How many people do you know that drank out of the same glass as the pope?” Brady asks the Daily News. After letting another congressman and his family dip their fingers in the glass, Brady put the remaining water into a bottle to use to bless his grandchildren later. “The congressman is a Catholic and has immense respect for the Holy Father,” his chief of staff tells ABC News. If the phrase “thou shalt not steal” is running through your head, don’t worry: Brady tells the Washington Post he’s asked the appropriate House officials for a bill so he can pay for the glass. It will eventually go in a cabinet in his home—next to the water glass used by President Obama at his 2008 inauguration. He swiped that one, too. (The pope’s tiny car is making a big impression.) He’s nasty as hell and dumb AF if he thinks he’s now blessed after dipping his germy fingers in that glass and drinking afterwards.
