According to The Las Vegas Sun: The 5-year-old boy knocked on his neighbor’s doorstep Wednesday evening with bloody arms and a chilling message. “My mom is bleeding,” he reportedly told Stephanie Vasquez, who brought the child inside and rushed next door to investigate. Before Vasquez could enter, police arrived and discovered a grisly scene. The child’s pregnant mother, Ashley Indico, was lying dead inside their home in the 2800 block of North Rancho Drive. She was nine months pregnant, according to an arrest report released Thursday afternoon, and was to give birth Oct. 26. Elinor Indico, her sister-in-law and suspected killer, had called 911 after apparently barricading herself and the boy’s 3-year-old sister inside a bathroom. The woman had been living with her brother and his family for about a month, and relatives told police that she had been fighting with Ashley Indico because the family wanted their guest out by the end of the week. The suspect told police she was attacked by Ashley Indico and only fought back in self-defense, but detectives dismissed that claim after conversations with witnesses. Elinor Indico, 30, was charged on Thursday with one count of open murder and one count of voluntary manslaughter in connection with the death of her sister-in-law and her unborn child. She was booked on the charges at University Medical Center, where she is being treated for minor stab wounds of her own. The suspect’s brother, Aristeo Indico, told police he had not interacted much with Elinor Indico in the past few years, but she reached out for help last month because she was losing her home in Granada Hills, Calif. Aristeo Indico allowed her to stay in his home on the condition that she stop using drugs and start working, he reportedly told police. But Elinor Indico eventually lost her job and apparently began using drugs again, so her brother told her she would have to move out by Oct. 18. This is messed up. Tension gradually rose between her and the family, Aristeo Indico told police, noting that his sister owned a Chinese fighting knife with 4-inch blades on both ends that she might have used to stab his wife. Police discovered a weapon matching the description between the victim’s legs. Aristeo Indico also told police that both he and his sister were trained in martial arts. Vasquez, the family’s next-door neighbor, told police that she had spoken with Ashley Indico about 20 minutes before the stabbing occurred. Ashley Indico had expressed frustration over her sister-in-law and said she was “praying Elinor would move out tonight and not wait until Friday,” Vasquez told police. After the 5-year-old boy knocked on her door, Vasquez said she ran to Ashley Indico’s apartment and tried to open her unlocked door. She couldn’t get in because Elinor Indico blocked it and told her to “get the (expletive) out of here,” according to the report. Vasquez told police she heard Elinor Indico yelling aggressively before moaning in ecstasy. Blood covered the entrance of the home when Elinor Indico finally opened the door for police. Wearing a floral pattern blouse with shorts, she showed officers two stab wounds on her stomach and retreated back into a bathroom to sit next to her 3-year-old niece. Elinor Indico allegedly lied to police initially, saying that it was the family, not she, that was moving out of the home. She told police her sister-in-law had stabbed her because she would not give Ashley Indico any money. In a follow-up interview late Wednesday, the suspect reportedly told police that the victim had gone “stab crazy,” the report says. According to The NY Daily News The mother of a baby boy who was found dead inside the family’s Brooklyn home wrote a ghastly suicide note but did not attempt to take her own life, a police source said Monday. “Justin is dead and so am I,” the mom wrote before cops arrived at the Ocean Ave. building where she and little 19-month-old Justin Stephens lived. Anna Thomas, who was arrested and charged with murder and manslaughter Monday, allegedly only finished half of her plan. Justin was dead, but the 20-year-old mother wasn’t. Cops went to the home after getting a 911 call about an emotionally disturbed person at a window around 8 p.m. Sunday. A knife was found at the scene, but neither Thomas or her little boy were stabbed or slashed, police sources said. Police believe the baby may have been suffocated, according to sources. Cassandre Celus, 18, who lives on the building’s second floor said her younger cousin spotted Thomas at the window — where she was dangling 19-month-old Justin. “My little cousin saw her dangling the baby,” said Celus, a student studying French at St. John’s. She said she could hear Thomas shouting for help. “She said ‘Call 911, my baby my baby,’” said Celus. “I thought the baby was falling and she was trying to catch it,” the young student said. “She was screaming.” Celus’ brother called 911 and an ambulance soon arrived. SMH. The baby looked to be in grave condition when it was wheeled out, Celus said. Neighbors said the young mother worked in health care. The building super, Burim Havolli, 29, said Thomas moved in about two years ago with her aunt, whose name is on the lease. “She was the best of the best (tenant),” said Havolli. “I never had a problem with her.” “She was always friendly. ‘Hi, how are you doing.’ I’d go pick up the rent, she would give me a drink,” he said. Another neighbor, who only identified himself as Michael, said he believes the child may have had a developmental disability. “A single mother and a special needs child? I’m surprised you don’t see this kind of thing more often,” Michael said. One fifth floor neighbor who declined to give her name said she saw Thomas, the child and a man she thought to be the child’s father smiling together over the weekend. “She seemed so happy, I just saw them Sunday. She was with her baby daddy,” the neighbor said. “(Justin) looked just like the mom. He was a cutie pie. You could definitely tell that he was special needs,” the neighbor added. What a scary way to die . Woman Dies After Falling From Dorm Room We feel bad for her family. According to Mail Online A 19-year-old woman died yesterday after falling from a sixth-story college dorm window. Police said Stephanie Ann Lehr was trying to climb onto a rooftop from the room on the University of Minnesota campus when she fell. The Hennepin County medical examiner found she died of blunt-force injuries. She fell from the window into a courtyard at Yudof Hall about 4:30pm on Saturday and was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center, where she died the following day. Police, who said they are treating the death as an accident, say Miss Lehr was trying to reach a gravel rooftop about three feet away when she fell. She was not a university student and her friend was the only other person in the room at the time. A screen had been removed from a window before the accident. Tim Busse, communications director for University Services, told The Star Tribune that the screens were not designed to be removed. He told the newspaper: ‘We take safety very seriously for our students and those who come to visit our campus. This wasn’t a safe thing to do.’ Authorities say Miss Lehr’s friend has been moved to another room. The Star Tribune reports alcohol was found in the room, but police are awaiting the results of tests to determine if Miss Lehr had imbibed. A university spokesperson said in a statement: ‘Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends. ‘We hope students will use this as a reminder to be protective and caring of their friends and classmates’, according to the Star Tribune. According to TMZ Lake Mary Police Chief Steve Bracknell tells us, Shellie and her father have declined to press charges and George will NOT be arrested. He said, “My understanding is that she never saw his firearm and that is what she is now telling us. So George Zimmerman is free to go and will not be arrested at this time.” The chief of police where Zimmerman was arrested isn’t feeling him either. Police Chief Steve Bracknell tells TMZ, he’s frustrated Shellie Zimmerman changed her story. Chief Bracknell says of Zimmerman, “The guy just can’t stay out of the news” — referring to the Trayvon Martin killing, speeding tickets and now this. Bracknell says, “You’d think he’d get the heck out of Dodge.” We’re told Shellie recanted her story after talking to her lawyer. The Chief said because of her flip-flopping, “There was not enough to affect an arrest, unfortunately.” Bracknell seems concerned that Zimmerman is bent on causing trouble, saying, “It’s smoke, smoke smoke. Is there a fire somewhere? Lord knows.” We asked him if he’d feel safe if Zimmerman was his next door neighbor. The Chief was clear … “I would not want to be the neighbor of George Zimmerman.” We’re with the chief on this one. Life has given Zimmerman 9 lives. The epitome of a bad grandmother . Grandmother Kills Grandson According to Mail Online A Baltimore grandmother has been accused of poisoning her 17-month-old grandson to death with Methadone. Towanda Reaves, 50, has been charged with murder and child abuse after admitting to police that she rubbed the powerful drug on the gums of two of her grandchildren so they would go to sleep during a July 4 visit. The other grandchild, a girl born three months after the deceased boy, survived the dose. Normally given to drug addicts to help them overcome their addictions, Methadone can also be used as a painkiller. Police investigation the toddler’s death initially operated under the assumption it was an accident, according to WJZ, but the guilt-ridden grandmother eventually fessed up. ‘She confirmed that she had given methadone to the children and put it on the gum lines of their mouths,’ Detective Jeremy Silbert, Baltimore City Police, told WJZ. Reaves told investigators she put her grandchildren to sleep around 8pm on July 4, according to reports. She could still hear them breathing when she woke up around 2am to turn off the air conditoner, one of the toddlers was unresponsive by 4am, causing her to call 911. Aadyn Overton was pronounced dead at a local hospital less than an hour later, reported ABC 2. When the same hospital received a visit from a baby girl that tested positive for methadone, the hospital called police, according to ABC 2. She is expected to make be okay, WJZ reported. Neighbors were shocked to learn the ‘doting’ granny had killed her grandchild. ‘She really took care of them. As far as I can see, she wasn’t a bad person,’ one neighbor told WJZ. Another neighbor, also a grandmother, was in disbelief. ‘As a grandmother myself, I just can’t imagine it. I just can’t imagine,’ the woman told WJZ. The deranged granny was arrested August 1 after without incident and faces a second degree murder charge, as well as a litany of child abuse and assault charges, according to reports. Reaves is still in custody. That poor baby had to lose his life because she wanted to sleep. SMH.
