Daniel Craig Not Ready to Kill James Bond

Your non-update update on the fate of the next James Bond for Friday Aug. 13 comes courtesy of star Daniel Craig: “Unless MGM can sort themselves out, we can’t make a movie. It’s hard to talk about things that aren’t happening. There will be more to say when things are happening. I’m really keen to get going, it’s as simple as that. And I’m hoping that, in a while, we will.” Good talk. It is hard to talk about things that aren’t happening, isn’t it? [ LAT /Hero Complex ]

Liam Neeson Only Interested in ‘Believable’ Taken Sequel

Someone get Liam Neeson a Netflix account. While on the press rounds for The A-Team , Neeson found time to discuss the sequel status of his previous blockbuster — the surprise hit Taken : “It’s just hard to get a plot that’s going to be believable, you know? But I’m meeting with Luc Besson later this month so we’re going to sit down and see if we can hash out a theme.” Huh. Has he actually seen Taken ? Considering it basically revolved around Neeson single-handedly killing everyone he ran into and that The A-Team features a scene where the protagonists fly a tank by firing its gun , it’s safe to assume that his definition of “believable” has very wide parameters. “Google Me” Docu-Film Got Favorable Results

tinypic “Google Me” is a movie about a man who wanted to meet all of the people on Google who shared his name. “Google Me” is a documentary about one man named Jim Killeen’s quest to interview people around the world that share his name. “It all started when I Googled my name,” says Killeen in the movie’s trailer. “My goal in making this movie is to connect with other people. I think there is something in the human condition that unites all of us.” Killeen starred and directed this documentary film. The docu-film gained favorable results from those willing to participate. However, not all of the Jim Killeens in the world were as friendly as the star of the movie. It seems there was a large portion of Jim Killeens who were not willing to be a part of the film for various reasons. Killeen, along with five other men with the same name, recently made an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show. The five Jims got together for a photo shoot and shared life experiences in what was reported to be a pleasant experience for all. “Google Me” is currently available through Netflix and the official “Google Me” T-shirt has been released and can be purchased online. “Google Me” Docu-Film Got Favorable Results is a post from: Daily World Buzz Continue reading

Tech Review: Apple iPad

Watch Larger Version | Watch HD Version Some say it’s revolutionary, others say it’s pure magic. Could it be both? Chris Hardwick and Kevin Pereira give their official take on the Apple iPad, with its 9.7″ multi touch display, web browsing, iWorks productivity software and more, all starting at $500. Find the full review from Gadget Pron on Attack of the Show after the cut. What You Need To Know Compared to other devices, the iPad is extremely unique and unlike anything else we’ve used. It’s about the size of a piece of paper (8″ x 10″) and measures half an inch thick. It’s heavier than you might expect. This might make it too heavy or awkward when you’re using the tablet for long periods of time. It’s a good size but you can’t hold it up forever. You have to put it on a desk and hover over it, or balance it on your knees. The touch screen is the most striking feature of the iPad. It’s huge at 9.7″ and LED backlit, so it’s everything you’d expect from a touch screen Apple device. If you’ve used an iPhone before, you’ll know how to use this. Even if you have no experience with an iPhone, it’s immediately intuitive. The screen is multi-touch, which means you can pinch and zoom. The keyboard works well but you’ll have to hover over the iPad to type on it. It has the OLEOPhobic screen but you’ll still get your fingerprints all over it. Overall, we love the iPhone touch experience and this is even better because the screen is huge! For the most part, the iPad experience translated well to the primary features, like web browsing, checking email and watching Youtube videos. The iPad makes browsing the web on Safari exactly the way you want to. Pinch and zoom, large screen and easy keyboard makes this the killer app (though without the Flash support). Lots of other apps like email and YouTube have been redesigned to work and look better on the iPad, and it makes a huge difference because of all the screen real estate. The iWorks apps like Pages and iBooks work extremely well. The battery life so far is great. Other apps available include the NetFlix app, which gives you access to your instant queue and looks amazing on the screen. There’s also Real Racing GTI which is easier to play than on an iPhone, because you don’t over correct on the iPad as much and it doesnt look bad when you scale it. Evernote has been redesigned for the iPad and is more fun to use. Command and Conquer Red Alert is amazing, and is just as easy to play as on a computer. The only problem is that the apps are expensive. Price $500.00 for the 16g Wi-Fi version. Rating 4 Seals of Approval out of 5. ( How do we rate gadgets? ) This won’t replace your laptop and you may need to buy other accessories, like a keyboard. Want something reviewed on Gadget Pr0n? iPad Apps To Keep An Eye On

Which apps could be game-changers and make the Apple tablet worth considering? By Brian Warmoth iPad Photo: Apple The iPad will inherit 150,000 apps when it lands in consumers’ hands this weekend, according to Apple. With more than a thousand new ones entering the fray that are uniquely optimized for the device, however, casual browsers will have a lot to sift through. Given the iPad’s hardware strengths and the new roles it could play as both a work tool and entertainment platform, a few apps could become game-changers and justify the Apple tablet on their own. Netflix App A leaked look at Netflix’s stream-able video app for the iPad indicates that subscribers with unlimited accounts might be able to get access to their queues on the go. Its availability would put the app in direct competition with iTunes, but a streaming process that requires a constant Internet connection may distinguish Netflix’s app from iTunes’ rental service enough that they can still play nicely together in the App Store. iWork Keynote, Numbers and Pages Apps The iPhone and iPod Touch hit home runs in portable gaming, but they came up short competing with netbooks and laptops in terms of business applications. Google Docs support was great, but iWork apps that will allow word processing as well as spreadsheet and slideshow creation may be the software Apple needs to serve students and working adults in a whole new way. ABC App ABC, CBS and NBC reportedly all have plans for delivering TV shows to the iPad with methods that don’t require iTunes, but ABC may be the first to come out with their own app capable of streaming programs without a browser. Depending on how ABC’s app performs, this could become a new model for networks to consider going forward. Amazon Kindle App Kindle provided a smooth yet simplified experience on the iPhone, but a larger HD screen capable of displaying big images in normal book and eReader-size dimensions could mean big things for Amazon. The Kindle app would also mean competition for Apple iBook downloads, but competing models and options for consumers can only mean better products in the long run. Marvel Comics App The iPad will be well suited for reading prose novels and textbooks, but when discussing killer apps for Spider-Man and Iron Man followers, the Marvel Comics app , designed by ComiXology, stands to make huge waves if it takes off as a distribution platform for the number-one monthly comic book publisher in America right now. Panelfly’s Comic Book Reader app will provide another source of digital graphic-novel distribution as well, so those two, Amazon and Apple’s ePub format will all be looking to define how comics get consumed on the iPad. Risk App The iPad means game developers will have to think in new proportions with new gameplay options, but no genre of gaming will be more ready to walk onto a flat multi-touch screen than board games. The potential to play table-top games over Bluetooth, WiFi and 3G with other players means EA will have a great foot in the door if they leverage Hasbro properties like Risk onto the iPad. And they will, according to Kotaku . Will you be first in line for an iPad? What apps are you excited about? Let us know in the comments below!

Snow Day: Your Horror Stories Are Welcome [Shut Up, Snow]

It has been snowing since yesterday morning. It is not the Snowpocalypse or Snowmageddon or Snowicane. It is just snow. It happens every year. And it is awesome, glorious, and beautiful. But when it’s done being those things, it sucks. So please quit bitching when it snows, and the news needs to stop making it sound like the end of the world every time a little precipitation descends on us. The only time when white powder is a threat to the public safety is when it is Anthrax in some taped-up, ratty-looking envelope mailed to the mayor’s office. We don’t need to remind you, but you live in New York City, and it snows here. It happens every winter, more than once, and sometimes a lot all at the same time. You’re going to get through it. No one will die (well, almost no one ) and you will not starve sitting in your apartment waiting for the plows to clear the streets so that the FreshDirect boy can whisk your groceries up to your apartment with his muddy boots. The city has pretty much shut down. It’s a real, actual show day . That is great, because it never happens and you should take this respite before the hastened pace of spring takes over with its bike rides, barbecues, and beautiful weather. But the weather right now isn’t so bad. It’s not too cold or windy. The streets look picturesque as the flakes rain down and you can spin in the street, round and round under the flurries, just like Winona Ryder in Edwards Scissorhands with her blonde wig whipping around as her hands lash out and grasp at the falling ice right before the town turns on Edward and everything goes to shit. That’s kind of what happens with snow too. After a few days in the house, you’re going to be sick of your boyfriend/roommate/husband/kids/snoring dog. The Netflix will be finished and all the good snacks eaten. Every time you cross an intersection there will be a deep puddle on the other side. You’ll be stuck wearing crappy outfits because you don’t want to ruin your nice shoes (well, unless you work at GQ ). Some people have it bad already. You can’t get to work, planes have been canceled, the place down the street with the good bagels closed early. Our very own Alex Pareene tried to come into the office today until a group of errant thugs threw him head first into a snow drift! (OK, that didn’t really happen, but he still gave up on the messy sidewalks and the messed-up subway and went back home to work from his couch and fix himself appletinis all day. We’re sure you have plenty of horrible stories to share with us about your commute and shoveling and being stuck. Please, share them in the comments. But you also have lots of fun stories about snowball fights and lying in front of the fire lazily watching the Olympics on TV and that really hot hooker you ordered up from Craigslist who gave you a discount because things aren’t so busy today. Share those, too! Along with pictures and anything else you want. It’s a snow day! The rules are off and we are here for revelry…and bitching.
