Breaking: Kate Gosselin Kicked Off Dancing with the Stars For "Diva-Like Behavior"

Guess the producers of Dancing with the Stars decided enduring even one more Kate Gosselin tirade wasn’t worth the effort, because she’s been let go. Finishing the job that voters somehow couldn’t after her debacle of a performance Monday, the network brass told Kate to pack her bags earlier today. The former star of Jon & Kate Plus 8 , who was planning a dancing homage to that bygone classic, caused nothing but headaches since joining the cast. Her partner, Tony Dovolani, apparently decided he had enough and threatened to quit unless he was transferred to another star. ABC did him one better. This face is also made by fans watching Kate dance. Jon Gosselin put up with her for 10 years. ABC? About a month. The decision was handed down Thursday morning, with a source saying Kate was “shocked.” Having become universally despised on the set (basically the Vienna Girardi of Dancing with the Stars ), few tears were shed over Kate’s sudden dismissal. What was the final straw in Gosselin being kicked off? She was pushing her luck from the moment she first set foot on the ballroom floor. Follow the jump and read exactly what got Kate kicked off this time … April Fools! Did you fall for this BS story? We wouldn’t blame you, since Kate’s diva-like behavior requires no exaggeration. Everyone, including Tony Dovolani, can vouch that she is painful. Nevertheless, that’s not enough to get her the boot for real – in fact, the drama will likely lead to big ratings for the competition. Gotta have a story, right? Another reason we considered for kicking Gosselin off the show was the uncovering of an elaborate, vote-rigging conspiracy in which she required her eight kids to vote for her 1,000 times each or else they would not eat for a week. Also something we could see happening. For better or worse, Kate Gosselin is still competing on Dancing with the Stars until at least next Tuesday night. You can go ahead and ignore this fake news item .

Lady Gaga Breaks Records In Sales, Video Viewings

Gaga’s videos have exceeded 1 billion views online. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: Florian Seefried/ Getty Images Lady Gaga is having quite a week. After revealing she’s about to start work on her next music video for her “Alejandro” track comes news that she’s broken two records, one for video views and one for music sales. First off, the singer is now the only digital-era artist to top the 5 million sales mark with her first two hits, according to Yahoo Music . Gaga broke the record when her single “Poker Face” reached 5 million in sales after her debut single, “Just Dance,” accomplished that feat last year. The only other act with two songs at or above 5 million is the Black Eyed Peas, according to Yahoo. And if selling millions of records weren’t enough, Gaga also reached the 1 billion mark in video views. According to Mashable , with numbers and analytics compiled by Visible Measures, Gaga is the first artist to have her videos reach 1 billion views. Three of her music videos hold spots in the 100 Million Club, including “Poker Face” (374,606,128), “Just Dance” (272,941,674) and “Bad Romance” (360,020,327). Most of the streams are through Vevo and YouTube. Following close behind Gaga’s record are “Twilight” (980 million) and Soulja Boy Tell’em (860 million). Last weekend, Gaga celebrated her 24th birthday and showed off one of her gifts online. In a photo posted on Twitter , she held up a red teacup and wrote, “Nothing like a communist-red teacup to make for the perfect Birthday gift. Last words are for fools who haven’t said enough.” Related Videos The Top Secret ‘Telephone’ Video Related Artists Lady Gaga

‘American Idol’ In 60 Seconds: Our Parents’ Hits Can’t Save Paige Miles

Miley Cyrus and the top 11’s take on Billboard hits make Jim bitter. By Jim Cantiello Miley Cyrus performs on “American Idol” on Wednesday Photo: Michael Becker / FOX “American Idol” in 60 Seconds has fast become an MTV News institution, but it goes by so fast that it’s not always easy to catch every golden nugget. So, here we present to you Jim Cantiello’s bite-size recap of this week’s “Idol” high jinks. This week’s “American Idol” was a lot like watching an episode of “Cops,” in that you needed to separate from the reality of the situation in order to fully enjoy its absurd pop-culture trashiness. (Unlike “Cops,” nobody was half naked and handcuffed; although it’s likely Kara has imagined such a scenario with Casey James.) First of all, we had mentor Miley Cyrus , who decided to give advice to the contestants pantless. (But don’t worry, she wore two crucifixes to balance out her bare bottom half.) All kidding aside, Miley turned out to be a perfectly respectable “Idol” guest. She warmly disapproved of contestants who fumbled lyrics (Andrew Garcia), urged front-runners to push themselves harder (Crystal Bowersox) and came up with a silly excuse to hug the cute boy (Tim Urban). And then there were the performances. … Oh, the performances. The week’s wide-open theme was Billboard #1 hits (shhhh, don’t tell anyone that Miley has never had a #1 song on the Hot 100 Chart). But almost all of the contestants picked songs that were popular when their parents were twenty-somethings. Aerosmith, Phil Collins, Linda Ronstadt, Percy Sledge, Marvin Gaye … wait, is this “The Big Chill” soundtrack? Ironically, 17-going-on-70-year-old Katie Stevens was the one contestant who picked a contemporary song (Fergie’s ode to blankets). The only performance worthy of any real praise was season-nine MVP Crystal Bowersox’s “Me and Bobby McGee.” Let’s just hope she starts bringing new things to the stage each week, other than plush carpets. Other moments of note: Siobhan had silly hair, Didi made funny faces, Michael Lynche is still a cheeseball, Lee Dewyze can do a Box Tops song without anyone acknowledging the recent passing of Alex Chilton , Casey James does a killer Huey Lewis impression and Tim Urban slid across the stage like he was stealing third base. On Wednesday night’s results show, the contestants slowly learned who made it into the top 10, and thus, the formally beloved, now dreaded American Idols Live summer tour. But first, there were two special musical guest performances to “enjoy!” Miley Cyrus tore into her current hit, “Not the Climb,” like a wolf rips into the carcass of a caribou. (One could argue it was about as pleasant to the listener, too!) Then Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato sang a song about pebbles with such a palpable intensity, I expected the Disney Sonny and Cher to rip off their purity rings and go at it live on television. During the results reveal, we learned that Siobhan’s friends are even weirder than she is (Stage blood! Shaving protests!), Didi Benami has difficulty standing upright while lip-synching (she totally fell during the group number), and Crystal Bowersox is such a beloved TV star, she’s able to mouth the words “holy s—” on prime-time television without the FCC threatening any fines. In the bottom three: Tim Urban and Paige Miles, not so shocking since Paige croaked one of the worst “Idol” vocals ever Tuesday night. More surprising was Katie Stevens’ inclusion on the chopping block, mostly because it meant Andrew Garcia was not in the bottom three, and as Simon would say, that guy “sucks … the life out of a song.” In the end, Paige was the one who had to sing for her life, but Simon murdered that idea when he told her she had a better chance of conceiving Clay Aiken’s second baby than performing well enough to justify using the judges’ save on her. Check out the latest (especially bitter) “American Idol” in 60 Seconds recap, embedded in this article. Let us know your take on this week’s “Idol” episodes by leaving a comment below. ‘The Hills’ Returns For Final Season April 27

Sixth season begins with Heidi Montag’s plastic surgery drama. By Jocelyn Vena Heidi Montag in “The Hills” Photo: MTV MTV announced on Thursday that the upcoming sixth season of “The Hills” will premiere in April . But the network also dealt a blow to fans with the news that this will be the last season of the reality hit that made household names of Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, while continuing the stories of “Laguna Beach” vets Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari. “We are lucky and honored to have worked with this cast and tell their stories for this long, and we are grateful to the many dedicated fans who have stuck with us over the years,” said Tony DiSanto, president of programming at MTV. “We owe it to those fans, the cast and the show to go out on a high note. And this season will deliver on that goal in terms of drama, story, real emotion and an organic culmination of this saga.” In the final 12 episodes, kicking off on April 27, fans will see Audrina Patridge dating singer Ryan Cabrera, and Kristin Cavallari contending with rumors of drug abuse. The show will also examine several other unanswered questions from season five: Will Kristin and Justin Bobby last? Was that really the last time Audrina and Justin Bobby will ever speak to each other? Will Brody actually break up with Jayde? And will Heidi and Spencer ever have a baby Speidi? Given that this is the last season, those issues are sure to get even more dramatic leading up to the finale. “I think we’ve told the story of struggle and of finding yourself in L.A.,” creator Adam DiVello said. “A lot of these kids have found themselves and have certainly embarked on different careers and different paths.” Indeed, many of the events of the past few months find their way into the season, including Heidi Montag’s plastic surgery, the results of which she shows to her mother in the first episode. “We tell the whole story,” DiVello said. “We pick right up where Heidi goes and sees her parents. And our cameras are there that minute the mother opens the door and sees her daughter for the first time.” Executive producer Liz Gateley added, “It’s a really touching but heartbreaking scene to watch.” But with the show coming to an end, will its former star LC stop in to say goodbye? “I always joked it would be nice to see Lauren get married,” DiVello said. What do you think will happen in the final season of “The Hills”? Let us know in the comments below! “The Hills: Final Season” premieres on April 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT followed by “The City” at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Discovery Channel May Win Sarah Palin Show

Looks like Sarah Palin is coming to the Discovery Channel. A deal for the former governor and current professional celebrity ‘s reality series, Sarah Palin’s Alaska , is expected to be announced by the network in the coming days. The travel series, produced by Mark Burnett, would feature Alaska’s ex-governor giving tours of the state. Hopefully some Todd Palin snow machine shots are featured. Sarah Palin started shopping around the show this month. Major networks passed, but Discovery showed interest. It could air on Discovery or its sister network, TLC. Palin is asking $1.2 million per episode for Sarah Palin’s Alaska , making it one of the most expensive nature series of all time, and constitute a seemingly ridiculous price, but if someone’s willing to pay it, that’s the free market for ya. This is America, don’cha know! HALF-BAKED ALASKA : Sarah Palin’s new nature series might finally make her #1 … at least on THG’s list of most overpaid and overexposed celebrities out there .

Sarah Palin’s Reality Series Headed To Discovery

‘Sarah Palin’s Alaska’ will focus on the characters, traditions and attractions of the former governor’s home state. By Eric Ditzian Sarah Palin Photo: Bill Pugliano/Getty Images Sarah Palin has been actively shopping a reality show to networks and cable channels since early March. Variety is now reporting that Discovery Communications has bought the series, called “Sarah Palin’s Alaska,” for in excess of $1 million per episode. Hosted by the former governor of Alaska, the show will reportedly focus on the characters, traditions and attractions in the U.S.’s northernmost state. Palin had been shopping the series with producer Mark Burnett, the reality show guru behind “Survivor” and “The Apprentice.” After meetings with ABC, CBS and NBC did not produce a deal for the travelogue show, Burnett and Palin turned to cable, with Discovery and A&E emerging as front-runners. A&E reportedly dropped out of the running, leaving Discovery as the winner. At press time, MTV News’ request for comment had not yet been returned by Discovery. The travelogue show fits well with much of Discovery’s programming, which includes other nature-based shows like “American Loggers,” “Man vs. Wild” and “Deadliest Catch,” which is also shot in Alaska. Palin also appeared in the 2008 Discovery documentary “Toughest Race on Earth: Iditarod,” which was shot before she was selected as the Republican vice presidential candidate. The specific Discovery Communications channel — or channels — on which Palin’s show will air remains unknown. In addition to the Discovery Channel, the company owns channels like TLC, Animal Planet and OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, which is set to launch in January of 2011. Winfrey famously interviewed Palin on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” last November. The former governor of Alaska is currently a political analyst for Fox News.

Jersey Shore Cast Off to Destroy Somewhere Else

Jersey Shore Season Two is ready for takeoff. Literally. MTV has instructed their rag tag band of juiced up meatheads and mediocre skanks to pack their stuff and prepare to defame an unnamed new city. Camera crews will apparently start paying visits to the homes of Snooki, The Situation, DJ Pauly D , Ronnie, Vinny, Jwoww, and Sammi this coming weekend. The network is attempting to get footage of them all as they attempt to cram tanning beds, industrial strength cans of gel and Ed Hardy shirts into carry-ons. WARNING : These people may be headed to a beach near you. Pack now . The Jersey Shore cast is supposed to fly out to Season 2’s mystery location some time next week … where will they be creepin’ on, exactly? It’s a bit unclear. All indications are that it will be Miami’s South Beach , which is really the only logical destination, although this has not officially been confirmed by the network. We could see that … unlike, say, Jersey Shore: Cape Cod . Also no word yet on whether Angelina Pivarnick made the cut and was asked to come along, or if anyone besides us even knows who Angelina Pivarnick is.

Conan O’Brien And Fox Resume Talk-Show Talks

Conan reportedly had to turn down ‘Idol Gives Back’ invite due to NBC settlement. By Jocelyn Vena Conan O’Brien Photo: Michael Kovac/ Getty Images Conan O’Brien and Fox have reportedly resumed talks to bring the former “Tonight Show” host to the network for a new late-night show. According to The Hollywood Reporter, there had been a two-week stall in negotiations, but talks seem to be back on. The paper also reports that O’Brien was approached by 19 Entertainment to appear on Fox’s “Idol Gives Back” special on April 21. Sources close to the situation said that the offer to appear on the special has gone out to several celebrities and is not related to his potential talk show. But according to the report, NBC has said the “Idol” special would not be allowed under O’Brien’s settlement with the network, which placed a moratorium on him appearing on TV until May 1. In the meantime, O’Brien is taking his act on the road this spring, on his 30-date “Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television” tour, which kicks off on April 12 in Eugene, Oregon. While Jay Leno has settled back in as the host of NBC’s “Tonight Show,” O’Brien is said to be weighing a Fox talk-show option against possibilities on cable or in syndication. But if Fox and O’Brien should reach an agreement, his tour schedule would allow him to appear at the Fox upfront in New York City on May 17 to present the show to potential advertisers. Kim Kardashian: Same Kurves, New Kalendar

Having already provided a sneak peek of her 2011 kalendar back in 2009 (she’s nothing if not forward thinking), Kim Kardashian has offered look this week. The professional celebrity is doing two 2011 calendars, in fact. “One with my blonde hair and one with brunette hair,” she writes on her official blog. Wooo. “We did the blonde shoot last year right before I went back to my darker look,” Kardashian wrote. “And then decided I wanted to capture the blonde look.” “What better way to do that than to create a calendar?” Truly, one cannot argue with that profound thought. BRING ON ’11 : With pics like this koming our way, 2010 seems so dull . As for the dark-haired version, photographer Nick Saglimbeni snapped her in skin-tight bathing suits showcasing the star’s famous curves and signature badonk. “My wonderful glam squad, Mario, Monica and Frankie, were all there to work their magic and we had such a fun time on set,” the 29-year-old dutifully reports. “I hope you guys are going to love the calendars.” We have no doubt we will. This is what she does. This and star in a reality show that she is apparently getting too huge for the network to afford keeping her on. Don’t ask us who’s shelling out that much money for Kim. Maybe kalendar kustomers? Click to enlarge more Kim Kardashian pictures from her shoot below …
